Great suggestions Pat

A drizzle type of day
I’m working on my gnome project..about 1/2 quilted

Having early supper, told Sharon to drop in, made enough for an army again?..

Hmmm maybe I was an army cook in a past life...know Jim, friend who was a world renown psychic said I was a Jezebel (?) in one past life lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can't see you as a jezebel. LOL.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Then Linda, you have not seen the photos from New Orleans....LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Not sure what the weather will be today!going on roadtrip for the day tomorrow so if I can pick I’ll take rain today and sunshine for tomorrow.

Bad dreams all night so decided to get up, recycle needs to go to roadside so I’ll be ahead of the game. Ziggy wants out but I smell the door of skunk so that is a no go unless he escapes when I do Recycle.

Girls will be here by 9 so gives me t8me to clean up my mess downstairs and rest a bit..maybe cut out an “a” I lost for the word farm on my pillow, want it finished..not fond of the piece..oh well.

What are you guys doing today?

Verona, ON

I've been up since midnight. Puddled around did lay down but sleep just would not come.

Going to cut the lawn and use the weed whacker to tidy up some places. That's my big doings for today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All I have is routine lab work this morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Some kids who aren’t being home school started today, think they are having different class start dates...here is hoping!

Hope you are in bed sleeping Dianne..have you been getting these damp rainy days?

How did you make out on your test today Lindakay? Does it take long for you to get results? Not major I hope

Girls were here this morning, Sharon dropped in..seeing I was up so early I decided to climb into bed, waiting for greg, made supper, enough for army, he is golfing, hope he doesn’t forget..left lights on so he thinks I’m up lol

Tomorrow will be a long day, we are going to the Indian Reserve 2 1/2-3 hrs one way) for the canibis salve, then peterborough, few places we want to drop in and look around so need my sleep.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am sitting on my back patio but sitting on my couch which is a different area than where I normally sit. Where I normally sit there is an umbrella tipped over and laying over on a chair. Also have another umbrella tipped over in the garden area and about 6 pots of plumerias. Had a cooler weather front move in over the night which brought cooler temperatures but gusts of wind up to 50mph. I took the dogs for their walk this morning and we went for a long walk. Close to an hour. Temps are in low 80s and that is just about winter. BTW, my patio is probably 150' long and has three different sitting areas before it wraps around the house and wraps around the pool. I do need to skim the pool but thought I would wait until the wind died down It is still windy but I am pretty protected here on the patio.

Dianne, so sorry you had a bad night of sleep. I went to sleep at 11and woke up at 8am. I heard the wind, rolled over, wrapped my soft blanket around my neck and went right back to sleep. I slept until 11:15. I was shocked. Dogs and one cat were all asleep right by me. But I do take a sleeping aide.

There was a whole gutter full of leaves from the trees is the gutter in front of my home. And the home next door. I got out my rake and broom and dust pan and swept up the leaves. Perfect food for my compost pile. I am sure my neighbors were astonished I was cleaning the gutter but after 19 years they should be used to me and my behavior. I also cleaned all of my neighbor's pine tree needles off of my driveway and flowerbed. They shade my property beautifully so I do not mind cleaning up the pine needles.

I am going to make me some zucchini fritters for dinner. Saw some on Facebook the other day and have been wanting some ever since. But I had to buy some zucchini.

Betty, have a great trip and a fun time. Linda, looks like you are going to get some of this storm and looks like you might get some rain. We just got the cooler temps and high winds.

Photo is the pine needles on my driveway.

Omg Sharon you tired me out, you will sleep tonight.
Mega trees here but no pine to speak of..aren’t your gutters quite high..am sure you worry your neighbours.i can visualize exactly where you are when you speak of what you are doing, such a beautiful h9me.

Wonder how Karen is doing, haven’t seen her post much since her trip.

Been on the phone with Rogers who is tv, internet, phone provider, been 9ver 1/2 hr now grrr

Still waiting for Greg

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hi Betty, been reading along but nothing much to post. Still no energy at all, so days are long and boring. I sleep in late and then nap during the day. I sure wish I knew why I feel this way.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

2020 is still kicking the collective butts of my family. Monday night my youngest Adam, could not get from their home to Tri-Cities to get the kids back. A bad accident and roads closed etc. I went and got the kids and they spent night at my house.

Monday night, the highways were closed due to wild fires and Kevin had a terrible time getting home from Portland. LONG detours and several extra hours, but finally made it back. He is supposed to move Saturday to Portand and we are hoping to have the highways safe & functioning then.

Today, there are fires in my oldest son's area & they were on stage 2 warning for evacuation. They called and came here (about 4 hours away ) with their 2 cats.. They could see the flames from their house, out the back door. Their male cat is very antisocial when distressed. They have taken over my bedroom and master bathroom so they can confine their cats to uncarpeted area. Stanley is on high alert and very curious.

I am headed to bed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, was a long day, was out of the car no more than about 1 1/2hrs we were in the car..can hardly move..sad, didn’t find anything that said come home..only thing I bought were 4 strings of mini battery lights to put in the snowman hats..big sigh
Was close to Dianne I think..maybe a few hours away..

Karen I wondered if you were unwell, are they still testing? Although we think we are are to small trips apparently not, perhaps you are just catching up rest wise from your trip?
Pat, that is the pits, sure hope your son’s home is not in danger of fire.,how very tragic.are the California fires moving in. Hate highways around here and likely same with yours, either construction or shortage of highways..population keeps increasing but no new highways to accommodate..free is hoping you will get back to normal shortly..now if you were working you’d be in a heck of a position..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, this started sometime before the trip. I was planning to stay home but Dr. said I should go it would be good for me. Well it wasn't and I felt like a wet blanket. Tried my best to not interfere with others plans but just not up to much.
I'm really dropping weight too. No appetite at all. A piece of toast at lunch and not much at dinner is all.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That is scary Karen.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doesn’t sound good, are they keeping on top of tests trying to find out what the cause might be? Hard getting doctors right now.would a few transfusions help? Do you take that boost drink that helps give strength?

hate thinking of you so unwell!

Been awake a few hours, just took meds, too much sting driving yesterday.debating getting up ,can always nap later.

Good morning. My lab work was just routine work. I go back on the 21st to get results.
Betty, I hope you got your salve, and i pray it works for you.
Pat, we have been watching the fires on TV. So sad to see so much destruction from them. Pray your family is safe.
Karen, we are praying for you too. Hope the Dr can find out what is going on.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sad day today. Molly has told us it's time. Vet will be here this afternoon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I am sorry to hear of the appointment with the vet. It is sometimes the kindest, best thing we can do for our beloved pet. 898

I will have Dana & Carrie thru Saturday at least. He can work from here.

None of us got any sleep the first night, between my cat & their 2 cats. If it had been JUST Stanley and Luna, everything would have been fine! But their male cat, Furoo.... REALLY had his nose out of joint. Last night was better. We put a throw rug in front of the door, wadded up so my cat could not peek under the door and agitate Furoo. He has always been more than a little antisocial and obnoxious.

Kevin is packing, he & I are driving to Portland today, I will come back same day.

The house is chaos. Friend of Kevin's is looking thru stuff that Kevin is giving him (and brought his dog). I have 3 of the grandkids doing homework. My son Dana & wife Carrie...with the cats. Stanley locked in his bedroom so he won't get out when people go in & out of the front door, he's whining and carrying on.... I'll be happy to climb behind the wheel of the pick up and leave! LOL

Verona, ON

Karen sending huge hugs to you. I so know how you feel. Molly was so blessed to live her life with you.

Oh no Pat !!!! I would go crazy with all that activity in the house. Most people would find my house way too quiet. It is even quieter now that Diesel is not here.

Betty how are you feeling this afternoon ?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry Karen. Sending prayers and hugs.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

So sorry Karen but Molly has had such s wonderful life with you and your family. Karen, I wish one of us on here could come up with something new to help you feel better. i am sending an angel to sit with you just for warmth and well being.

Pat, if that was happening at my house, I would have him pick me up around the corner.

Linda, so glad your tests with just routine. I woke up today to 69 degrees outside. I thought I woke up in the wrong state.

I took the dogs for two long walks and they loved it. I called my daughter and she sent over my two youngest grandsons over to help move my patio furniture. They did it in no time. One set had been in the same place for close to 19 years. Time for a change. I discovered, when moving it, how dusty it got from the big blow on Tuesday. So the dogs get groomed tomorrow so when I get back from dropping them off, I am going to clean both sets.

My garden helper texted me late last night to tell me he had a Dr appointment with many tests today. So I said, see you next week. I saw on my afternoon dog walk that some snapdragons had been planted, so that means they are now in stock at the nurseries. This is the time of year we plant our spring annuals. I will give it another week and get the beds ready.

Betty, the only time my back bothers me is right after I have been driving. I think it is the gas and brake petal do something to irritate my back. No big pain, just sore and weak.

Thumbnail by WormsLovSharon Thumbnail by WormsLovSharon
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

To Portland and back, glad to be home. The smoke was so bad it hurt to breathe & burned my eyes. 2 of Kevin house mates helped him empty the car and pickup in no time at all and I was back on the road. They helped him carry all that stuff up to his 2nd floor bedroom. Nice men, about Kevin's age, I haven't met the 3rd one yet.

I would have loved to go up and see Kevin's bedroom but the arthritis was too painful for me to brave the stairs when I did not have to. Especially since I still had the drive home and truck does not have cruise control.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

My thoughts are always with you on September 11th, today I am sharing those prayers with John, his surgery was 8am, waiting for a call from Darl
Oops phone rang, surgery was textbook doctor said, not sure if there is chemo or if they think they have all the cancer, here is hoping.

Karen, sorry for your loss..hard days.

Pat, will be nice knowing Kevin is settled.

Sharon, always boggles my mind when you say you are planting spring flowers, my pretties will be going to sleep til spring,

Dianne, are you having this beautiful fall day, able to walk chaos?

Lindakay, are you still sewing masks

Wonder how the fires are affecting Liz?

Susan, how is your weather, heard some areas of Calgary had snow?

Yes, riding in the car for so many hours wasn’t good..still having trouble moving around.i put Dr.Ho on it and Lordy every once in awhile the nerve would pain.

Now that I know John is in recovery I will do something, doing shopping 8n the morning, fabric shop, Michael’s,$$$ store and groceries so resting today, while sitting got the 36 wine glasses decorated, just need t lights..put another pumpkin pillow
On the machine, need stuffing big time..having coffee and will relax

Verona, ON

A stunning Fall day here. I love it !!!

Made a whirlwind trip into Kingston this morning. My debit card which was new wouldn't work so I have been using my VISA then going online to transfer $$$s over. What a PITA. So I finally got to the bank and got things straightened out. Dropped into Pet Smart to pick up some treats for Chaos. There was an older Chocolate Lab in there visiting as her dad shopped. What a sweetie. Then I dropped off several bags of new dog toys at the Humane Society. You can't go in and have to look up the dogs on online..Grocery shopped and now I am in for the day.

Chaos and I had a quick walk before I left then when I came home we went for a longer one. We'll both be back in shape before long.

My winter wood comes tomorrow so I'll spend a few days stacking it. Better I do a bit at a time then try and do it all at once. As my sweet dad used to say "this getting old is for the birds"

Sending hugs Karen. When I got home the vet had called to tell me Diesel's ashes were ready. The floodgates opened again.

Glad you made it home safely Pat. I imagine any travel near Portland is not advised at the moment.

Think I might join Chaos on the bed and read for a bit.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same kind of day here Dianne, bet it’s wOnderful walking the pathway and with cottages gone must be so quiet.difficult day ahead for you picking up Diesels ashes, hugs. Weather is great for working outside, not to cold si it’s nice that it’s being delivered this early.

Went to get my prescriptions, few OHIP don’t pay for, sleeping pills for one, does take long to spend $$$..worth it though, ran out of sleeping pill and was up good part of the night.

Meeting the girls in Orillia at 8:30 tomorrow morning, my back and hip are killing me, tub is full, hot bath then early to bed. Ziggy is laying next to me on the couch, am sure he will follow me,loves to drink hot water from my hand.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So sorry for your loss, Karen.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sharon, I bet you were cold at 69 degrees.
We have had a light rain all week. About 4 inches so far. Maybe 80 today.
Yes still making masks. I was in Walmart the other day, and i saw pretty lacy shawl. I thought it would make a pretty mask. Something different.

Thumbnail by taters55 Thumbnail by taters55
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh that is pretty Linda.
I wish we would get some rain, we are needing it again.

Verona, ON

Very unique LK. I really like it. What a great change from the ho hum masks we wear everyday.

Another glorious Fall day here. Glad my wood is being dropped this morning as it is to rain all day tomorrow.

What's everybody up to today ? Other than putzing around the house and outside today nothing else. I was going to go to the Farmers' Market but the arrival could be anywhere from 8 - 11 am so will stay close to home. I had better get dressed just in case it is sooner rather than later.

Betty any news on John ?

Stay safe and well.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

sorry, been MIA - busy life
Dianne - SO sorry to hear about Diesel. He'll be missed by all of us, for hearing about his antics all these years.
Deb - your daughter is in Calgary, 1 HOUR drive south of me? omg - thinking that I need to send you something via her, cuz mail's so expensive. My mind's going a million miles a minute - will you be visiting her in Calgary? I know, only 6 months, but still...........

My masks are in a consignment store, and they've sold a couple of the kids' ones and want more. More adult ones too if I can make them. ummm YEAH lol
We're going camping tomorrow, and I also have 2 truck seat covers to make for a friend. No rush for them, but they're cut out of the material he gave me. Sort of a felt material he's had for years (unknown fibre, it said on the tag). Not sure how well it will stand up to his dog's nails (the reason he wants the seat covers) but it's what he's given me to use.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tub is running, need hot bath, trouble moving..have to say, got to be going in search of supplies on my own and only do a few stores...this shopping a good part of the day is too much for me.

Dianne I stopped at freshens, indoor food market, along with veggies bought peaches & cream corn, 1/2 dozen, cooked 3, ate one and that was enough. They had beautiful pies, after I left I told myself I should have bought a peach pie..maybe I’ll order one for thanksgiving..not worth trying to make one.

Was hoping Michael’s might have had Christmas stock in but other than a few sprigs and ribbon there was none..bought a 75ft roll of ribbon, a twig and there went $25..

Bought some red and green to try another gnome bench pillow, groceries and there went the day.

Susan have fun camping...Deb’s little one is one of her furries lol glad you are selling some masks

Lindakay that mask should get you in a ballroom, live the colour.

Deb, how are you making out with the new job???

As for John he came home this afternoon, doctor told Darlene to let John get up and make a coffee etc that he needs a bit of excessive..will be 10 days before tests come back and they find out if chemo is needed. Can you believe how quickly they send patients home after surgery, guess they feel more care Nd less chance of Covid.

Heard on the news more cases breaking out in Barrie.

We did get news though that a friend in same trailer park as Darlene and John is being placed for 24/7 care, they do not believe he will live the month out. Poor Kathy had a heart attack in the spring, Leon a stroke and now full of cancer..

Kyle dropped in, wasn’t 10 minutes when his pager went off, had to leave for work..

Best I have my bath before water gets cold.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I spent the majority of my day, over 5 hours, cleaning patio furniture, BBQ and then patio floor. After our big blow last week, everything was covered in ash, dust and whatever was rolling around in the sky.

Yesterday the sky was mucked up with the smoke from California but today the sky was clear and blue. The temp was low 90s. Next three days will be 98 and then 100 for two and then finally down and will probably stay down.

Susan, you have been a busy girl. Enjoy your camping.

Dianne, you know the minute you leave to go to the Farmer's Market your wood will arrive. Murphy's Law. BTW, who was Murphy.

My daughter's husband's aunt, just died from COVID. She had bad lungs from a childhood illness and couldn't fight it off. My daughter told me she was old, that is why she died. I asked how old was she, She told me 81. I told her that is only 3 years older than me. She said, "Oh Mom, but you are not old, she was old." She means the way I act, I think.

Landscape crew was here today for over three hours cleaning up the mess from the big blow. They did such a great job, I gave them a nice tip.

Verona, ON

Sharon I have always wondered who Murphy was too.

It was lovely tonight - mid 60's so I sat out in the screened in room. I had never allowed the TH in there but Chaos is now invited in. He is a little wary though as he has been told no for so long. Today he got his head and front paws in the door. Then the sun cam shining down and in he came. He just couldn't miss laying in that sun puddle.

Woods is here - oh my the pile looks larger every year even though it is always 2 bush cords. It's tarped so I will start on Mon. Big doings on Storms Lane this week. lol

Sharon I will be 71 Christmas week but I sure don't feel it - well most days. I firmly believe it is your mind set and how well you take care of your body.I'm sure you think along the same lines.

Betty how is your pain level now ? Sometimes it gets so bad no matter what you do or take it takes forever to lessen doesn't it? Do you soak in Epsom salts ? Like you I rely on a sleeping pill if I want to sleep. I am just afraid to take them every
night and then they won't work.

LK I have been thinking about your mask - it is lovely. Betcha lots of ladies would be interested in buying one.

My snapdragons finally bloomed. I covered them tonight - fear of frost.

May the sleep angels find you all.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Susan, it is one of my dogs that is in Calgary. A friend of a friend wanted a litter and didn't have a female. This is one of the girls that I bred and had to take back. She'll be coming back to me after the litter, I'm hoping I can go and pick her up, instead of having her shipped. I haven't been out that way in so many years, I would love to go out to Alberta again!

The job is going OK. Lots of different things to work on, so it sure isn't boring. So far I've learned to build a cable harness that will go into an airplane, and I've assembled some connectors, and I've done some laser etching. The engineers write the work instructions, and I follow the instructions, looking for issues, or things that need clarification, before it goes to the production people. I've also worked on writing work instructions myself, on doing some rework to correct issues. Some computer work, some assembly work, some taking photos to include in the work instructions. Plus some things that the engineers are too busy for. Contacting other companies for quotes on things we want to buy, or, things we want them to make for us. The time goes pretty quickly, so that's always good!

My son and granddaughter were out this morning and he hooked up the dryer that my brother gave me. My old one had died, and it's been about 6 weeks with me hanging out to dry, and the last week has been rain almost every day, so I have lots to catch up on! That will be the rest of my day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the comments on my masks. I enjoy making them, and am always looking for different fabrics to use.
Susan, enjoy your camping trip.
Betty, keeping your friend in our prayers for good test results.
Sharon, i just turned 65, and i feel much older. Arthritis i all my joints have really slowed me down. My left knee has been giving out on me. I have been avoiding going to a doctor, as I know it means another knee replacement.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It is still so smokey here, it is miserable. My son, wife & cats went back to Sumner (outside of Seattle) this monring. They didn't lose the house, things were "OK" so some of the anxiety lessens.
By today most of the contention between the cats has ended. Son's male and my Stanely were playing "Whack-a-mole" under the door. I have the beds stripped & washed, and now need to get all the beds remade. Unless fires or other obstacales come up, I expect to have company next weekend. Ben's daughter Rebecca is scheduled to pick up the roll top desk and the secretary. There is also a lot more kitchen stuff I want her to look at. I've given away 2 spring pans and still have 3 more!! Ben had them in many sizes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay safe Pat. All those fires must be so stressful.
Glad to hear you're sons house is safe.

Verona, ON

Can't sleep. This sounds like a broken record.

Poured rain most of Sunday. Chaos and I did manage to get 1 walk in. Glad I wore my wellies though.

My back is acting up just when I need to do some physical labour. The pain is about a 9 and nothing I take is touching it. I just bent down to pick up a paper off of the floor and wham..... I was almost on the floor.

Oh Pat I am so glad your son and family were able to get back home safely. I have a niece in Bend Oregon. She was supposed to call me tonight and hasn't. Not like her to forget but I am sure with 2 young boys and teaching Grade 2 she has a lot on her plate. I'll call her tomorrow.

Know I sound like a broken record but the house is so empty feeling without Diesel. I've been looking at shelters but due to the pandemic they are not having dogs stay long before they are adopted.

Deb glad you got your dryer going. What a PITA not to have 1 running. I remember all too well hanging clothes on the line in the dead of winter. It wasn't until I left home that mom got rid of the wringer washer and even got a dryer. The prices for pups continue to rise - Rotti puppies are anywhere from $2500 - $3500.

Oh no LK! Like you I grin and bear it. I just can't face another replacement.

Good to see you drop in Susan You sound so much happier than you did a few years ago. All your activity makes me smile.

Betty how are you holding up ? What does Kyle work at now he needs a pager?

Judy come out. come out wherever you are.

I've turned into a night eater and don't like it 1 bit. Doesn't mean I don't stop snacking.

Hope you all are sleeping.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, guess I missed yesterday or perhaps tpeven Saturday, wasn’t far yesterday, only got off the couch for eats.. we must have had a heck of a storm last night, everything on decks strewn all aver, on back deck thought maybe a raccoon might have broken in but not..

Spoke to Darlene this morning, nurse was in cleaning up bandaging, Friday he goes get stitches out then the 22nd gets catheter out..no words can express how pleased I am that so far his experience with “c”

Deb, hard to do without washer/dryers these days, Linda was telling me how expensive laundromats are and for hanging clothes outdoors once you finish a long day at office last think you want to do. I do miss my clothes line though for towels etc.telling boys want one like umbrella put in for mother’s day, already have items on their to do list lol.

Dianne, Kyle started last month working for a towing company who deals with CAA calls, never did I think they were that busy, lots of long hauls, he dropped in yesterday afternoon again, wasn’t here 15 minutes and got a call an hour away..seems to like it..car industry wasn’t doing well with Covid, helped a friend at the snowmobile motorcycle place , they wanted him to stay on but wasn’t enough $$$..every time he drops 8n he get a call, told him his boss better pay me a commission. Lol

Pat, do you not take a break? Think I was much like you when Roger died, had to not stop for a minute so I didn’t have time to think. Glad your family is well and all getting back to the norm.

Dianne, hope your niece. Had a busy schedule and couldn’t call and nothing more serious.

Lindakay, how is Covid doing in your area, diminishing in numbers..barrie I think had 5 new cases this weekend.

Karen, how have you been feeling, pick up any energy?

Sharon, smiled when you referred to old, that number sure does chance as we get older...we have newspaper for the area send daily, first thing I go to is obituaries...lots my age passing on, makes you think.

Mom is coming up thursday, her birthday, turns 89 and she is doing well..

Pain level ??? You know if the were a button to shut me off think I’d grab it, being so active to all of a sudden finding it difficult to function without pain is overwhelming..yesterday was a couch day, played with cutting out quilt pieces, at least I feel somewhat productive..might bring up portable ironing board and iron so I can set pieces on base as per pattern.

Wish Liz would post

Keep looking at clock, want to call dr’s office, not sure that it’s open Monday’s now.

Verona, ON

Talked to my niece early this morning. They live in Salem Oregon now and the air quality was so bad they went to Grammy's in Bend for some fresh air. She is waiting to hear if her school is closed before they drive back. She teaches Grade 2.

Chaos and I need a walk. Will try for a mile right now.

STay safe and well.
