The Las Vegas real estate market is hot. Many are moving from California to Nevada. No state income tax and housing is much cheaper. My price range takes a month or two but when you get in the $700,000 or lower, you will have multiple offers the first day.
Betty, I would tell your mother to give you a day or two to rest from the party. Ad then, that is what you should do.
Once I have made up my mind I am moving, it is getting easier. My garden is beautiful but very large and I spent over $700 a month on gardeners and I do a lot of work myself. I can get a smaller place with a garden small enough that I can manage it and keep it the way I want it.
I do not have carpet now. I have hickory wood floors. And I do not want carpet.
We had a good day today. I again cooked out on the BBQ so I didn't mess up the kitchen. And the smell does not linger on in the house.
Betty, someone should have stayed behind and helped you put away the chairs. Good thing I wasn't there, I would have told them just that.
Pat, you can just get used to looking at something and soon you do not even see it.
Diane, I am slowly getting rid of Vern's vitamins and such. The hospice people took all of his prescriptions and such and destroyed them the day he died. She placed them in a zip lock and poured some liquid in the bag and had a container for the bag.
Weather currently is 91 at 8pm. But getting down to 71. Good temps for setting on tomatoes. I have still no cut back my tomatoes.
Have a wonderful Monday. Hugs to you all. Sharon
Best/Worse/What did I Lean today? Chat with friends, newcomers always welcome....come sit a spell!
We had a sunny but a bit cooler week-end. I just need to add binding and baby quilt will be done. Was going to mail it but as we are going up in just under two weeks for youngest sons wedding, I can take it along.
Afternoon, perfect fall day, if only it would stay like this till November, think I’m asking
too much though!
Sharon, there really wasn’t much the could have helped with, they would have been underfoot. Yesterday morning o looked at m9ms drapes, she had 5 panel all different lengths, told me what to cut them at then said she would like to tie them back, no way she could do that cutting then at window length sooo told her to re measure, tie back and determine length..gave me a reprieve.
She left for aunt Muriel’s around 9 or so, spent the night and went home today.
Karen that is a long trip for you to take again when you are just getting back on your feet. What pattern?
Sharon, see you are on a mission..lots of money $700 a month but well spent because of your love of the gardens but as you say, another garden you can manage on your own would be nice.
Do hickory floors scratch easily?
Got rid of my big bbq a few years ago and bought a small compact table top one, used it once..guess I’m not a bbq’er
The girls were here this morning, put bindings on their pieces and now will have something to hand sew.
I’m playing lazy this afternoon, too late in the day to start getting energetic
Betty same as last one, Tumbler pattern.
Early morning, been trying my best to fall back asleep but no go so guess I will get up, plenty I can get into?
Yesterday after saying too late in the day to get energetic I did..stayed up until I ironed pieces on the Christmas piece..it was a kit given to me and haven’t checked what else it included.
Promises to be a beautiful fall day , maybe I will get a few hours cutting down spent flowers
Sun's shining, the fog from the fires in Red Deer have dissapated, and it promises to be a lovely warm day. Supposed to get to 20c
Skies are fairly clear here, not as nice as yesterday though.
I ran errands some yesterday. I finally called the prosthetist and they said they take donations & give to 3rd world countries. I gathered up the remainder of Ben's "stuff" and dropped off brand new liners and stump socks, a whole bag of hardware plus 2 different foot mechanisms. I am grateful to finally get that done. I could not bring myself to throw any of that out and didn't know what to do with it.
LOTS of stuff I want to do but I HAVE TO GET THE PAPERWORK done. YUK. I got a letter from SS yesterday and they had more questions. I have not got my first check yet, that is worrisome.
Morning, sunshine day here, think I’ll get some garden work done,Melanie was here last night and borrowed my loppers so:she could cut down her hostas, guess I should do same although they are still looking pretty good.
I can imagine it wasn’t easy letting go of more of Ben’s things but knowing they will help 3rd war countries must make you feel good. Good luck on SS, likely just a slip up.
Waiting for my alarm to go off at 9, want to make super I’m on time to get several Xmas panels on for $5 each then off to make faux toffee apples lol
Everyone must be busy
Told myself to go outside and bring all patio cushions in, forgot, now drenched
That is a sweet design, makes an adorable baby quilt. When are you leaving for the north country?
Drats was in a sound sleep and the phone rang, not: correct number, now I’m awake! Grrr
Heading up next week Fri. I guess our cold and rainy is getting me ready for up there weather.
Phone has been awful lately. It's the time of year we can make changes to our health insurance so will be like this until Dec. That with election call and service policies for our car and it's practically non stop. We just ignore them
Of course I LOVE the quilt, it's PINK!! Very sweet.
I love the quilt. It so just adorable!!
Evening, what a gorgeous day and Saturday/Sunday to be same.
kept myself busy, dozed off for a few seconds at supper time, thought in bed you go girl, had been at it since 6am, even got Thanksgiving staples and turkey bought..know it’s still 2 weeks away but I didn’t want to fight the masses, much easier other than fresh veggies to get it done now.
I had found the fixings for a table topper among unfinished projects, worked most of the day on it..had white blocks left to quilt, decided tomorrow was another day..went and closed everything down and shut craft room door as Ziggy lives the quilt frame, thinks it’s a hammock lol..lord and behold I had a burst of energy, got the blocks quilted, binding 9n, now all that remains is veining in the leaves and hand sewing.
Last night I glued in Brad nailed the ’s and decorated with a bit of raffia , another project done.
Greg dropped in and was thrilled with his plant, just can’t get over his excitement him tending to a plant and seeing it thrive lol
Kids next door are having a wonderful time, dad bought one of those large enclosed air units, can hear them laughing, nice to hear but is the compressor ever loud.
How are things going Deb?
Karen, the phone calls can be overwhelming, huh? I hate it when some idiot gets WA state and WA DC mixed up and call WAY TOO EARLY!!
I am not sure how my cell phone number got distributed but I am being bombarded with spam texts and calls. I keep blocking and deleting but they just come up with new phone numbers to dial from.
Most of my stupid calls come from Michigan numbers. We didn't change our phones so they don't know we are in TN. One day I got 40 calls in 5 hours from CA numbers. I was about to take a hammer to my phone. I blocked every one and haven't gotten any more from there.

At least you were successful in blocking further calls!!
Beautiful projects Betty.
I get those spam calls too. Very irritating.
Beautiful quilt Karen.
Beautiful baby quilt. Karen, I hope you guys have a wonderful and safe trip. You could come to Las Vega, we are still in the high 90s. But the nights are finally getting down into the 70s.
My daughter told me today she thinks I will not move. She feels that I am so used to all of my custom built fine cabinets in my home, that when I see what is normal construction, I will panic. She said, I should just remove the two extremely large sumac trees in the back landscape and that will eliminate 40% of my landscape problem. I just laughed at her but she may be right.
I get spam calls all day and I keep blocking them. And then they started on my cell phone but I just do not answer. My phone has a button I can push that says I am not available.
Betty, all of your fall items are so lovely. I do not decorate for fall.
I take the garbage cans up across the street because the husband is very ill and she has her hands full. I did convince her to get a helper and she saw me the other day and said it was a miracle how much better she feels. Anyway, on the way back across the street I decided to take photos of the front landscape. I am actually amazed it is not just one large mess with all of the high heats we have had this summer. This neighbor has always said she sometimes just pulls out of her garage and sits in her car on the driveway and takes in the front garden to see what has changed before she drives off . Her husband is in his middle 60s and has some deteriorating that mimics Parkinson but is not Parkinson. They have been here the same amount of time as we have.
Good morning everyone.
Sharon, you place is beautiful.
Your landscaping is soooo beautiful Sharon. It would be tough to start over! What is it about the Sumac that is causing so much work? The Sumac we had in Othello was an "Elkhorn", so named for the branching pattern that resembled an elk's huge rack. It was a colonizing variety and that was a pain, constantly having to clean up the saplings to keep them from taking over. .
My silver maple tree is enormous, and it seems to create a LOT of clean up work! In the fall it's the leaves, in spring it's the seed pods and pollen. It provides so much shade that I can't imagine giving it up.
Beautiful Sharon. I would find it difficult to leave such a lovely place. It has to be a ton of work though.
afternoon, glorious day out there
.should be,outside, working instead if watching movies..have been hand sewing while watching though
If would certainly break one’s heart to move. Leaving such a beautiful home and spectacular showcase gardens , would not rush in cleaning Vern’s office out lol
on the other hand a move could be an adventure.
Pat, here, Sumac drops their leaves continuously. I will take a photo tomorrow of the Sumac. I have two very large ones in the back landscape. I looked at them today and thought maybe if I took of the majority of the leafing branches off the main branches. The main branches are beautiful. I could make them a poodle tree. But they are about 30 feet tall and each one is at least 30 feet in length in the branches. I do have large trees behind me in the greenbelt so they offer quite a lot of shade.
I went upstairs later this afternoon to clean some spots on the carpet on the landing leading to the two rooms upstairs. I just about fell twice. First time on the second stair and second time one step before the first landing. I was carrying the steamer and cleaning solution and I was being really careful. Probably being to careful.
The weather here today was beautiful. Finally cooling down.
Thanks for the nice comments on my front landscape. Yes, it is a lot of work.
My son, his wife and son are coming down from Spokane on Thursday and will be here through Sunday. So I will have a busy week. I've lost about 40 lbs, so I will probably get a lecture from Dr. son. Just do not get hungry and do not cook much. I have an six (6) burner cook-top and use one burner.
Make sure you talk to your Dr about losing weight. Losing too much is not good. There may be a medical reason you don't feel hungry.
Wow Sharon, that is a lot of weight to lose when you didn’t have the weight to lose.
Will be nice for you to have family visiting with you..omg those carpet units are so big and heavy, you almost need someone with you when you do it. I have one, size of vacuum cleaner, use is rarely as I only have the 8x10 carpet in living room. Thank goodness you weren’t hurt.
It’s been a perfect fall day here, leaves are quickly falling from the trees, sad time of year..
really tired today, been dreaming last few nights a and not sleeping so it’s been another couch day. Got invited to Greg’s/Mel’s for supper and also to Sharon’s, wasn’t up to going.

Well Braedon is at the airport waiting for his 10pm flight, he is looking forward to his adventure in teaching in Germany and yet apprehensive, whole new experience being in working field..not a lot of jobs out there for young ones even with university degrees.
Will be strange not having him home for Christmas...
Betty, I use a small steamer unit. Not heavy at all but I didn't have a hold of the banister and got off balance. I won't do that again. No way wold I ever try to take a large one up the stairs.
I am down to 5'3" after my back surgery so I needed to lose some.
I didn't do much today. Washed and walked the dogs. Read the Sunday paper. We are still on the back patio but getting that time we need to go inside and settle in for the night. Housekeeper will be here bright and early. Betty, I slept well last night but when I woke up, I didn't want to get out of bed. So I just laid there until 11:45. Shame on me but I guess I needed it.
I took photos of the trees. And wanted to show you my patio partner.
What a cool tree, kind of meanders around. Pretty chill cat too. Thinking if I had a patio like that, I'd have to move my sewing room out there. I'd never want to leave.

Yes, it looks like it may be the same kind of tree that I had. Does it also have long red "blooms" that are kind of messy looking? The limbs were so brittle that the renters kids broke some of them, a storm broke some & we took it out. It was a really funky/cool tree before all the damage.
Last night while I was taking something out to the car, Stanley slipped out. I didn't worry too much, he has been coming when I call or scooting back in when I leave the door open. Well, that was last night about 10 PM and I didn't get much sleep, he is still not back. I have posted on lost and found, put bulletins up at local businesses and contacted my neighbors. Monday when the Humane Society opens I will call them. He does have a micro-chip.
Stupid Stanley. My Peanut, who is in the photo, does that every once in a while. I try very hard to make sure she is in the house before dark and before she eats. If she eats her dinner and then makes it outside, she is gone for a long time. Right now I am sitting in the bedroom with the bedroom patio door open so she will sooner or later wander in.
This tree has no blooms. But it does put on a flush which turns to seeds about the size of pepper corns. I also had a pepper tree but had to have it moved because the limbs were very brittle and would break with any wind above normal.
Going to watch Masterpiece Theater.
Morning, slept in til 7am, feel like 1/2 the day is lost when I get up this late...
Perfect day out there, going to divide my day between inside and outside. Keep thinking I should be putting everything away but want to get Thanksgiving in before I do it.
Pat, so hoping Stanley is back by now..you’ve had him long enough that he should be able to get home..likely outside nearby watching all the commotion..last night Sharon was here, we both tried to get Ziggy in but he wasn’t having any of it. Got ready for bed, drifted off then remembered Ziggy wasn’t in so checked and there he was sitting waiting for me to open the door. I as well try to get him in before supper but doesn’t always work, restless nights when that happens.
Keep watching the clock, another hour and Braedon will be landing in Germany, don’t know what day he will start teaching but likely he will have a few days to himself before starting.
Had to chuckle Sharon, all is well in Peanuts world.
Off to get my lopped, good ones I leaned to Melanie, hope what I have will be good enough to get some work done.
Didn’t have breakfast yet, was busy base coating circles on my Christmas balls, I will
Eat then take on the day
After being gone for nearly 24 hours, Stanley just walked into one of the 3 exterior doors I had propped open. He wasn't overly hunger. He was "needy", really loving up on me. He wasn't happy when I shut him in his bedroom so I could close all the doors.
I still don't have a sticky weeds out of his fur. We have these weeds that grow seeds that are like tiny Velcro balls that stick to everything. It's hard to weed them, they stick to your gloves and everything else!
I have paperwork to finish & then fax or scan. Tonight I have help arranged so I can get the mattress picked up & bed set up. I am NOT ready. Oh well... When it's someone helping me, I need to be able to go with the flow and work with THEIR schedule. The days available changed and I am caught unprepared.
Oh Stanley, you sure worried your mamma, you will be housebound for awhile for sure..hate those burrs, hard to get out..luckily there are only a few kinds around here.
Know what you mean about working on someone’s time schedule, I’ve learned like you to move with the flow and doing ok with it. Patience is a virtue 😂
Laying on couch listening to sister in law on phone, been an hour, not a phone person .
Betty I have several friends who are teaching or have taught for years overseas. They take good care of each other. There's an ExPat club they all seem to go to on Friday nights. Glad he found a job !!! He won't be alone unless he wants it that way.
He is social and fluent in German so no doubt he will be fine.
Are you also having these fantastic fall days?
Pat, the person who developed Velcro, got the idea from burs sticking to clothing.
Yes Betty these last few days have been very appreciated. Felt like over 80* both yesterday and today. Sounds like rain for tomorrow. I could have watered my plants today but thought I'd wait for the rain. If there is no rain by noon I will water. What do you want to be if I water then it will rain?
Oh Pat I'm shaking my finger at Stanley for giving you such a scare. Cricket did that once down here. I said to my DH after we heard a screech in the bush "You know he is not coming home, right?" Around noon the next day he strolled down the lane. I had to shave Sassy once to get all the burrs out.
Swept out another shed and tidied it up today. I wore a mask as there was so much chewed up insulation. The mice really did a number. I can only work near insulation for about 20 - 30 min then have to take a break. I get quite heated, itchy and a rash starts.
Chaos and I had a couple of wonderful walks today. He is really turning into such a good boy. I put an application in for a rescue female Rotti puppy named Volt. Love the name ! I don't expect anything from it as she was probably snapped up the moment she was put up for adoption. Rotti puppies are still $2 - 3,000 and some even higher.
Stay safe and well.
Wonder why they are so expensive Dianne...think that is what noah’s dog is.
Wouldn’t be good for your breathing for sure, old type insulation can be really harmful. Need to get out and organize my shed, thankfully it’s not insulated.
We had rain last night, still dry, I should look and see what weatherman is calling for.
Still trying to get my mind around this comment re Covid..numbers rising
