Glad to hear you renewed in time.
All the masks are at the quilt shop. She sells them, just about as fast as I can make them. Especially the little ones, for kids going back to school.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good, you are helping fight Covid battle and recovering some of your cost...

Torrential rain here, plan after working on panels so hard was to get my perm this morning and go to Orillia, this afternoon..just sent message to Sharon re changing to tomorrow afternoon after Darlene and John come put up panels or Saturday morning.

Just turned heat on to take the dampness out of the house..I’ve the small narrow panel left to do but I will do that later...think I will make myself comfy and give the 1st coat of finish to the wine glasses.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a lot of glasses. They are beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They got their 1st coat, have to wait to give them 2nd coat as its damp and won’t dry quickly.

Darlene and John said they would be here early tomorrow..his favourite is cherry pie so up off the couch I go to make him one, while I’m at it best I make myself a lemon meringue lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, not much more work to fix 2 pies than one.

Verona, ON

Diesel crossed the Rainbow Ridge at 4 pm Tuesday afternoon. I have no words.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So sorry I know your heart is breaking.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am so sorry about Diesel, Dianne. You were a wonderful mommy to him.

Both of my dogs have something going on and they will be 9 next week. I am going to give it a week and see if the cooler weather makes a difference and if not, then they get a major vet visit.

I gardened today for about 6 hours in 102 weather. Not a whisper of a breeze. Next 5 days are going to be brutal so the kids and I will be staying inside.

I am going to bed. I will return tomorrow.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Dianne, I am sorry to hear you have lost Diesel. It is never easy and when they are gone, the desire to protect myself from another broken heart is strong. Our pets are part of our family.

Sharon "Next 5 days are going to be brutal"!! 102 is BRUTAL!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning all, think it will be sunshine day...had enough of rain!
Need to cut grass at some point today but grass is so wet from rain/dew!

Dianne, my heart goes out to you for the loss of Diesel, we would love to have them by our sides for forever but it’s not to be. Hardest part about having furries, their loss takes a mega chinch of our hearts..I’m sure the other furries will be mourning as well...a great loss for you, and you are correct, there are no words.

Well it was hard on the shoulders, fabric for back porch were so heavy to move around, glad that is behind me..here is hoping I got them all done correctly. Darlene and John are coming this morning, I would think it will take the better part of the day to do them..they will not stay on, no hurry once the domes are in wood and fabric, when I hear snow is coming I can just snap them on..what a treat that would be.

Last night I decided as a treat I’d make John’s favourite pie and Greg’s favourite chocolate.

Hoping if the job is done by 2 I’ll go to Orillia with Sharon..need some was tear away and wash away for embroidery.

Starting to bring 8n fall totes..fall quilts/throw and wreaths were in the house but all else outside..love it now, the brilliant colours. From now to beginning of 2020..fall/Halloween the Christmas..😃

Darlene just texted me, they are on their way, best I get a move on

I am just too lazy to store all that stuff and haul it in and out. I had an adorable small tree at the office that I decorated for all the seasons but I have given that away too. I wish I could settle on ONE decorator style for Christmas and be happy with it every year. That would cut down on LOTS of boxes! I think it's part of my ADD... LOL. Oh well!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pies look yummy!

Dianne, so sorry to hear bout Diesel. Sending out Texas sized HUGS!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I am so, so sorry, Dianne. No matter what, even when we know it's coming, and it's what we need to do for them, it's never easy.

We, the animals and I, did not do much today. But the dogs got a much needed bath. I did water many of my plants in pots because I had not done that for 2 days.

We took a nice long walk early this morning to avoid the heat.

I didn't get started on my taxes, so will be on my list for tomorrow and then next week, because of the high heat, I will tackle Vern's office and try to clean out his filing cabinets. There will be things his daughter will want and things I will want to keep. His son already has most of the items he wants. I know there are several guns up there I will need to get rid of and I will leave that up to my brothers. I have already given away his computer and items like that. It is a beautiful office, I will take a photo for you. Hope I do not find any surprises.

Betty, those pies look delicious. I only like pumpkin pie. Vern loved chocolate pie. You are so blessed with such a wonderful couple as friends. That will make your winter so much easier.

I have attached two photos. One a pot of coleus I got planted late. I ordered them from Rosy Dawn and ordered late so they were delivered late. I really didn't think they were going to make it but they did. The other photo is another hardy hibiscus re-blooming after being cut back. I posted another photo of a different hardy hibiscus that bloomed last week. I may have already of posted it. It is also re-blooming.

We had worse storm ever last evening..woke up with a really bad migraine, just know I overdid this week trying to get all those panels made but was a must..have a towel over my eyes to keep the light out, hope it’s gone by 9am as I have to take Cathy to barrie.

She nearly lost her life to cancer several years ago, she called me last night asking if I could drive her to Barrie this morning.. she had mammogram last week and her specialist wants to see her. She looks after her mom that has Alzheimer’s, Cathy does not drive..sister had to look after the mom so leaves Cathy without a ride so that leaves me.

She was the friend who almost dropped in for 8 or so years and never spoke to me again..a year ago I saw her at foodland and cornered her outside and inside just talked and nothing, she was like a caged animal, more I kept talking more she started to relax..never did ask what her problem was, only thing I could think of is we did everything together then I started to ask other to join us..apparently she has done this before..none the less she is a friend and I will survive the trip, can rest in the car while I wait for her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Your hibiscus are doing great Sharon , is there ever a time in your gardens that you’ve to blooms? Love your coleus, mine took a beating yesterday moving them, most broke in the pot.

Pat, sometimes it’s overwhelming bringing all in but I’d miss not doing so..I’m half done for fall.

Deb, did your furry arrive safely?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes, she made it to Calgary last Sunday, and so far she's doing great there. I didn't realize all that was involved to get her across the border, but all went smoothly, and she's adjusting well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.

We finally had a little cold front come through last night. Temperature dropped from 101 to 72. We even got half inch of rain. I will take it.

Betty, I hope your migraine is better this morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good news Deb, can just imagine what we will have to do when border re-opens ..am sure it will be next year.

Lindakay, glad you got rain, could have some of mine. Ray came to do ditch weeding, didn’t realize he was here, said it rained a bit when he got here..I had put my head down for awhile, guess I missed it, looks like another storm is brewing.

Cathy said that they gave her right breast a good going over, it was the left one that had cancer about 3 years or so more and now they are concerned about other.lhad a lot of angled mammogram and will book her an mri then book with specialist.

Going to have lunch, who knows might go to Orillia with Sharon, would be better than screwing up the morning..LINDA just called, said she would be here in an hour for short visit, so maybe I can still squeezed it in..we will see

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I was told there was a 2 hour wait at the border at Niagara Falls. I can't figure out why, unless there are a lot of people meeting in the center of the bridge to hand stuff off to the other side!!

Wow LK, that's a huge temperature drop!! Bet it felt good, though!

Verona, ON

AH I wondered how the whole thing would transpire Deb.

I put some feelers out for Rotti pups (not that I am any way near ready) and I am interested in a breeder in Michigan. Pups start at $2000 here and that isn't even for a full Rotti just a x.

Breezy evening here but the sun is shining. Chaos and I just got back from a walk and it was great walking weather. Sharon I don't know how you walk in your temps.

Chaos sure is missing Diesel. The only time he perks up is when we walk.

Nothing planned for the long weekend except a visit to the Farmers Market in Harrowsmith. Hopefully there will be more than 5 vendors. The village is having a Garlic Festival on Sat. Only 100 people allowed in at a time, only 1 person of a family at a time and you must give your phone # before you enter. Think I will take a pass.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Border closed, perhaps commercial trucks and border workers..

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Probably, and I'm guessing since it's closed they don't have a full staff on. If they let dog transporters hand dogs over to transporters on the other side, I think other things may cross the border that way, too. And, someone has to go through all the paperwork.

That seems like a lot for a Rotti cross, Dianne. Are you looking for a pup? I don't know any Rotti breeders, but if I hear of any pups I'll let you know.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Dianne, our blood is thinner and I have a greenbelt right behind my house that is over a mile long and tree lined over the majority of it. It was 109 today so we took two short walks.

We will e 109 to 110 through Monday night and then Tuesday we are suppose to drop to 91. Or monsoon season was a total bust.

Betty, you over did it because you had a deadline in your brain. I have done exactly the same thing. You just need to sit back and chill for a few days. I know, easier said than done.

I will check in tomorrow. Betty, a neighbor stopped by today, a man, and wanted to know the same thing. He said he was amazed how every few days something new was up and blooming. That is because there are so many different plants scattered everywhere. My mother always called my garden the square inch garden, not the square foot garden.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, looked like another rain day in my neighbourhood and as I lay here typing the sun seems to be rising, good news for all enjoying last long weekend of summer.

sooo wanted to sleep in but Ziggy has other ideas, let him out and climbed into bed but that will be a waste, won’t be able to fall back asleep.

Dianne, that is the first annual celebration I heard the is keeping the tradition go on even though there are guidelines, wish there was something going on in my region...
hope you find a rotti, am sure the furries are missing Diesel.

Sharon, I imagine many neighbours come view your gardens while passing by all in awe..those are some temps.

Yesterday was quite a day, from bringing Cathy to barrie hospital, Linda and Dave dropping in, going to Orillia with with Sharon and a friend oh hers up from the city for a dew days to heading into midland for groceries, just entered near shrine and saw traffic lights were off so turned around and came home, yep power out for a few hours which equals a lot of worry re sump pump.

I had called roads department several times about the grid filling with silt to to no avail, Jamie next door came over with his small loader and removed some while ’s unplugging grate....it’s about that time I decided to not use the nice approach, took some photo’s of what I looked like and sent to mayor, acting mayor, councillors and said I would wait until Wednesday and if I didn’t get satisfaction I would place an article in the press with caption of 72 year old taking on municipal ditching along with photo’s..we will see how that goes.

I think I will make some changes this year if I’m up to it, move a lot of the other taller plants so I can view lower planted specious, you put more thought in your gardens than I, Just wanted a country garden, nilly willy but it’s overgrown now. Not even sure how I’d go about it without making more gardens...Guess I’d I were to go out today and spray some of what I’d like move later might help..on step at a time right.

Sharon, you are so right about over exhausting myself knowing there were things that had a time frame, this weekend I have to do’s but if the don’t get done not a proble,..

Grass cut
Tad of gardening
Bring in another fall tote
Take apart the little pieces of 2x4s I found next door
Clean craft room

Oh for you sewers bought a new pattern Yesterday, lordy $29.99 and tax..and a nice maroon mottled red for cut up design for Christmas panel I just got.

Drop back later, want to show you new mask LINDA brought me, she met with a major company in barrie, she was on news, one of if not to make first masks enabling those with hearing impairment to read lips through masks..as well, seeing I’m always sharing my meals with others brought me a set of bowls and lids.. guess I have to fill them up for her lol

Niece brought me a treat, everything I need to make strawberry shortcake..spoilt am I..

I love that truck panel, and that gnome is awesome.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Those are both so cute, Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Worked a little more on trenching that ditch, unpacked 2 more totes of fall then had a hot soak.

Love both as well, hard to make myself cut through the panel though..I’d love to use the red fabric I bought for the truck...maybe I will call to fee if they have more, make an online purchase and pick it up next week that way I could sit and play at cutouts.

Just put supper on, for me and an army lol, waiting for grass to dry a tad, likely will be early evening before I can do that so playing cut outs would be fun, no energy required 😜

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty I just saw today, someone advertising that Gnome for the Holidays runner. Don't remember who though.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Panel or pattern packet like I bought?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't remember. I didn't pay that much attention, just remembered the name.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

113 here today so I did not do much. Dogs did get two walks but one was early and short and the other walk was near dark after the sun had gone down behind the mountains. I had watered two different areas where plants are sensitive and had watered pots on my patio. If I get any more plants in this one patio area, I will need to move some furniture. I think our low is going to be 88. But by Tuesday, they say we will be in the 90s. That is winter here.

I did get started on my taxes but could not get my printer to work. I am sure it s operator error. If I can't get it going tomorrow, I will have a grandson come help me. But I will pull the manual up on line first.

Betty, if you do not hear from those individuals in charge, you call the paper and follow through with your threat.

Yes, if I am out front many cars do stop and comment on my front landscape. One mother said her daughters believe fairies live in my garden.

Today's hardy hibiscus is red and the plant has purple leaves.

Hugs to all of you.

Sad reminder today, Barbara Jenkins birthday. Sure do miss her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Saw that Karen..she was such a gracious lady..cherish the week she and hubby spent the week here! Serves as a reminder but don’t like FB ask8ng for us to post our congrats..

Sharon, do believe fairies live in your gardens..and yes I will follow through, Mayor emailed and said he would make sure someone came Tuesday, one of the Councillor’s said he would try and drop over this weekend so just maybe..

It’s a perfect fall day..did a bit in the ditch, cut grass and now lunch..if councillor did come and I would be in basement I’d not hear him so seeing as I cut out all the gnome for the holiday pieces I’m thinking of bringing up my portable ironing board and iron up here could get them ironed on, then nap time,

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you got someone's attention. Praying they get it fixed properly and soon.

A sad day indeed. We all miss her so much.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, I've not forgotten. I'm still trying to start a banana for you. Have one I'm nursing along. It's not dead yet so there is hope. If it doesn't work, I'll try again in the spring. It's a challenge now.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Hot and Hot. Only one walk today because of the heat. I told the dogs only one more day then we can take a really long walk and maybe a picnic. They answered me with a "Yeah".

Guard was driving by the other day on his golf car and asked me if I was talking to myself. I told him, of course not. I am talking to the dogs.

Betty I am pleased to see you got someone's attention. But you should put it in writing and send it registered. So if you have damage, you have proof they were notified.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It’s early morning, it’s been storming all night, hate to see what is out there at daybreak.ziggy is in no hurry to get me up, I always blame him for early rise but not today.

Kyle came for a visit late afternoon, stayed about an hour, had a nice visit.

Around 7:30 just as I was heading to bed notice a black car at side of road and a man walking towards the house, here it was my 2nd cousin, also a councillor but not my ward, he and I walked the road to top of road, looked at the none existent ditches up there, the directional flow the rain takes, my situation etc. Said he would bring it to concerns of roads department, he has to work next couple of days but something will do done. Here is hoping!!

Hope your day is exciting..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No hurry Karen. Next spring will probably be better anyways.

Betty, glad to hear you have a cousin to help you.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

It is sad that a person has to become INSISTENT and/ or THREATENING in order to get heard. I do agree, put your request in writing, take pictures and send it registered. Include in your letter a statement regarding providing this information to your home owners insurance in case there is further damage to your property. Insurance companies do NOT like paying for damage and they rightfully could go after the government for lack of proper maintenance. Then CC your insurance.
