Omg Dianne, wouldn’t be just to dogs barking at the snake, yours truly would have high tailed it back to the house..your orders come in so timely, seems whenever I order it takes forever.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today??Chat with friends Old/New..newcomers always welcome?
The dogs are pretty quiet in the heat. Everyone is just sprawled on the floor. I don't have AC at home, but have box fans going, and there is someone in front of every one of them.
Got a call back for a second interview, set for next Weds. I think that's a good sign. This company didn't have a job that fit my resume when I went for the first interview, but they thought my resume was "interesting" so called me in anyway. Now, they have a position with the same job title as my last job, so, I'm guessing they just created this. Guess I'll find out next week!
Oh Deb that is encouraging news. Sending positive thoughts. I can just picture your dogs with the fans blowing on them. Years ago in the old farm house I had Samoyeds. No AC and my DH claimed he couldn't sleep with the fan blowing on him. I had a floor model fan with buttons on the base. Tundra used to go and put his paw on the on switch. DH didn't believe me when I said Tundra did it.
Betty I have had great luck with Amazon.Very rarely do they miss their deadline. In the winter the couriers don't like to come down the lane. I completely understand that. They call me before they get close and I drive up the lane or they leave it at the PO.
Stay safe and cool tonight. We just had quite the T and L storm pass through. Very intense for about 30 min.I just opened the door to let the TH out and the moist heat just about blew me back into the house.
Stay safe, well and cool.
Oh Deb how exciting is that..we will be anxiously waiting for 2nd interview, sounds like a positive outcome. What would you be doing.
Yep a warm one today but worse tomorrow, I have A/C at 70 and ceiling fan on in my bedroom and still find there is no air.
Dianne, just goes to show you you can’t under estimate furries.
Speaking of furries should get Ziggy in.
2 wasted days, hoping to be up and at it tomorrow
Not wasted days Betty. It's your body telling you to take care of yourself.
Betty, my heart doctor told me to take potassium pills. They work good gor me.
Good luck on your interview Deb.
well ladies - it wouldn't be a visit with Doug, if he didn't fall. We went to our friend Dianne's, and as it's a new place to visit, he had never been before. She has a step down in her house, and it's all carpeted. He thought it was flat floor, so down he went. Tore the skin on his left elbow & forearm. We bandaged him up as best we could, but Dianne has rather old bandages & tape and I wasn't happy with the job I did. So...... my new neighbour is an RN so asked her to look at it. She bandaged it up professionally. Within an hour his wound was bleeding right past the (clear plastic) bandage & running down his arm. I asked my neighbour about it and she said if it didn't stop, to go to emerg. We were there 1 1/2 hours & they gave him a tetanus shot, froze the area & put 7 stitches in. Total of 3 hours before he stopped bleeding. The covered the area in gauze, wrapped it, put a stretchy "sticky" sleeve over the area, and said to leave this on for 2 days. If it started to bleed again, I'm not to take the gauze & wraps off, but to add to it. In 7-10 days he's to go to his own Dr & have him take the stitches out (nylon). Doug's going on & on about the swift, excellent, care he got. He thought that the Emerg might be closed, in a small town (3,000 pop) 🤣 He really had No Concept about small towns and how bustling they are. I told him, emergencies are emergencies no matter what time of day, and they can't close down an emergency dept!
Bob's now talking about Doug going back home on Wed. We shall see........
Otherwise, Doug's been meeting some friends, & I think he'd really enjoy the caring community we live in, and near. Big city life is just no longer good for a lonely senior. Lots more people, but a lot less caring, is Calgary.
Morning all,
Just got up and made my bed, decided if I made it I would not climb back into til bedtime lol
Will look for potassium as well Lindakay,
How horrible Susan, and he was so looking forward to his vacation..wouldn’t it be better to finish vacation off seeing he is with friends who will watch over him and not
Not go home to be on his own? If he just sits and entertains himself it wouldn’t be much different..feel badly for him, only bit of sunshine he has had in his life..your friend must have felt badly..yep, much better living in a small town.
Once I have my bath and breakfast will mow the lawn before the heat of the day..with all this humidity it sure is growing, I’ve done it twice this week.
Sorry to hear about Doug's fall. That's some bleeding! Is he on blood thinners?
Stanley gave me a scare, Kevin helped me move the furniture off the patio so I could paint the ceiling. He opened the door to go back in and Stanley zoomed out. His FIRST time out here. He took off exploring and out went out hoping he would come when I called. I told Kevin go ahead and leave (on his way to Portland) and left the door open, I tried to head Stanley off by going around the barn and never found him....
I walked back into the house and heard Stanley. He had doubled back into the house when I went around back of barn. I wasn't TOO worried, I had not feed him yet and his kitty bowl was empty. He had been an outdoor kitty when I got him, I was positive he would return. He did, he beat me back into the house. STILL... he is NOT going to become an outdoor kitty living with me! LOL
Scary for sure Pat, especially first time out..be very difficult I think to make him an indoor cat, once they are used to being out they tend to always want out..I make sure around supper time if Ziggy is out that I get him 8n and that is it for the night.
Sharon called earlier, she needed to go to the fabric store for quilting thread and wanted company so went with her..bought tan fabric $18.99 yard, needed 2yds, $4.99some bright green for leaves, the rest I will use scraps as well as a new blade for my rotary cutter 18.99 ...found just enough kids fabric for batting, have batting and main white thank goodness... there went $48..00
Big sigh, sure miss my trips to Joann’s!
Hard to believe your fabric prices. Wow.
I bought what she said was a good blade and think it was $8.89
I have that electric blade sharpener, been saving my blades, I’ll put that on tomorrow’s to do’s lol
Cut the grass, everything needs a good watering..I’m on even days to water so tomorrow I’ll give evetything a good soaking.
Betty, I've tried several blade sharpeners including electric and found they did a mediocre job at best. Much better to just change them out. A dull blade is a dangerous blade. Please be careful even a dull blade can make a severe cut in skin.
happy 4th of July everyone...stay Safe!
Happy 4th of July.
Our city decided to go ahead with fireworks. But it has been strongly suggested that we stay home and watch it on out local TV station. I am sure there will still be a crowd.
I have a blade sharpen too. They don't work.
Happy 4th of July everyone. Enjoy yourselves.
Stay safe, cool and well
the difference between sharp and dull IS night and day!!! I don't know why I am so slow to replace a dull blade. the new one goes in and I think WOW!!! Why didn't do this sooner!
Will you be one that will watch it on t.v. Lindakay?
Wow, went to all the stores one could possibly go to that might sell the mosquito fogger and no go..wouldn’t even order it in..was at Canadian Tire and a woman was buying refills for a thermacell lantern..she said it works great, wherever the lantern is no skitters...refills aren’t cheap but not being able to sit a pond isn’t good either so bought the unit and refills for 48 hr of total use. Should turn it off to see if I have skitters then turn it on..I started it set beside me at the pond and no skitters, hmmm could it really work that quickly?
We are allowed to have fireworks in our yard, as we are out of the city limits. That is what we will do.
Never heard of that device. Will have to check it out.
With this heat no fireworks or fires..had hoped this weekend to burn all branches from storm in the pit but likely won’t be this week.
Tried to get Ziggy in, he would put one foot in but that was it..I’m all comfy in bed, now I’ll to get up in hopes he comes in, good mind to leave him,out grrr now you know I wouldn’t do that.😃
Did you all have nice weather for today? Was it Friday the extra holiday day or Monday? Lordy no need to ask as every day is same as other lol
Hubby has a 4 day weekend. Friday and Monday is liberal leave for everyone.
Wow, nice long weekend for all..how is your town doing with Covid? Every t8me they mention how bad Texas is I think and worry about you.a
Laying here trying to decide how to make a teepee of sorts to keep blankets off my feet
Wow, nice long weekend for all..how is your town doing with Covid? Every t8me they mention how bad Texas is I think and worry about you.a
Laying here trying to decide how to make a teepee of sorts to keep pressure off my feet, nothing coming to mind
I have not done much today. Thursday I worked in the front landscape for about 6 hours and only covered an area about 20 x 30 but it is cleaned and cutback. And the area I was working in was in the shade.
Betty, they had something from hospice that would keep the covers off of Vern's feet because it bothered him. Goggle it. It was kinds pvc pipe built like a short tent.
Your garden looks beautiful. I saw a ground cover that they use in the Pacific NW for erosion near rivers and such and thought of you. It was on the website Little Prince. Is there water there all of the time or only when it rains.
Deb, I am so pleased you got a second interview. One thing I always proud-ed myself in was picking out quality individuals when I was hiring. Like your interviewer, once I made a job to match the applicant. She was with us many years and climbed the ladder very fast.
Pat, how are you doing. Did you get everything moved to where you wanted it. Its been over a year and I still have not gone through Vern's office. Maybe in the winter. What did you decide to paint on your son's box. You guys are so talented.
Linda, we are also having a big out break but it appears to be the younger group. I only know one person that has had it. Most of the individuals I know are staying home and wearing masks.
Karen, you doing OK. Do you have skitters like the rest of them. We do not have skitters or anything like that. How have you been feeling.
I have lost about 40 pounds since Vern died so I actually feel better. I just do not need to cook for anyone so my menu is very limited. Biggest problem was the amount of food I as buying and not using and either giving away or throwing away. I think I am finally over that. But tonight I am having BBQ ribs and corn on the cob. I bought racks of ribs and cut the slabs into 5 ribs and froze. That gives me enough for one dinner and one lunch/dinner. I usually only eat once a day. I just do not get hungry.
Diane, how is Diesel. Better I hope. Do you have any fish in your lake. I love fresh fish. I still have so many things of Vern's to go through. Really do not know where to start.
First photo with my hair about 1/3 white. Going to go totally white. Second photo is Peanut. Looks a lot like Betty's cat. Third is a hardy hibiscus and lat two are blooms on my plumeria.
Hugs to all of you.
I have a hardy hibiscus and would like to put in a couple of more.
I have ordered the paint pens to finish the son & wife's package wooden box. The"flower box" went home Wednesday with the intended owners, Ben's brother & wife. She was ecstatic, Mark tells me she has a place all cleared and ready for it.
The pictures are of the mock ups of what I will put on Dana & Carries box, the lid with have IF it fits & the face of the box, the cat. By playing with a copier and enlarging the image, I can get the size right for the box. I'll take a picture when it's done.
Betty, as of 7 this evening, we are now at 310 covid cases. It jumps 15 to 20+ each day. I don't go out unless I have too.
Love the photos sharon. I have short hair, and I finally cut all my color off. My hair is sat and pepper, and hubby doesn't seem to kind. So I think I am done with miss clairol.
Betty Amazon has a blanket lifter. I have one and love it. I cannot stand the blankets on my feet.
Sharon, we don't much in the way of skeeters here but then we do have a bunch of bats. In fact we don't see hardly any of what would be night time bugs thanks to the bats.
We went to the farmers market this morning looking for corn but were too late. I did score a big baggie, almost 3 cups of black walnuts, I couldn't believe how big the pieces are. At first I thought they were English walnuts. I have always loved them, I know I'm in the minority especially here. OK by me LOL

Yep Karen, in the minority! I LOVE English Walnuts, we had trees when I was growing up so I could add walnuts to anything I wanted, as much as I wanted. With the price of nuts I am not so generous anymore!
There was a Black Walnut tree down the street from us. I understand you have to have a Black Walnut tree near to pollinate the English Walnuts. I can't even stand the smell of the Black Walnuts LOL.
I would opt for the bats over skeeters. We have mosquito control in our part of the country, spraying by the county and lots of encouragement to avoid creating the environments that help breed them.
I'd much rather have the bats than the bugs. Fun to watch them fly out in the evening. Sometimes I leave a high outside light on so I can watch them swooping. Neat show.
Too funny, I’ve never seen bats here but am sure they are around..was looking for designs the other day for nat and butterfly houses..thought maybe the bat one would be worth a try but seems confusing..hummingbird no problem, much like birdhouses I made. Wanneta called, wondered if I could make /paint her 2 birdhouse..guess while I have tools out I could give the bat house a try.wonder if it would confuse butterflies if I were paint a design on it?
I love walnuts as well, I’d say they are English walnuts.
Yesterday I bought corn but not our local corn, am having that tonight ..$1 a cob, bought 5 so hoping I don’t have to throw them in garbage.
Did 2 masks with bows, will glue a pearl or glass bead to centre of masks, not sure I like the,..they are light and fit well though
Don't think I have ever seen a butterfly house.
I love those masks.
Very nice LindaK. How big is it?
These are definitely Black walnuts, Betty. The taste is true.
The quilt is 55 x 68. A good throw size.
Oh I love it Lindakay..it’s stunning..does it have a home to go to? Covid sure has put many miles on that machine of yours. Missouri quilt has wonderful patterns don’t they? Must see what the kind we make for our vets..problem is little fabric even in the fabric shops and what is there cost a mint.
Just took a quick run downstairs to sew around leaves, had my bath and now it’s time for corn, wish you all lived closer, I’d share...
Going to turn leaves for owl quilt right side out while Dr.Ho does its thing on my feet then shut call it a day.
Nothing going on here. Had fireworks, big booms, right behind my home last night. Poor Cecil was so scared and Emma didn't even notice. Peanut the cat kept running under the bed like the devil was after her.
Linda, that is a beautiful quilt.
Susan, how is your visitor doing since his fall. I have fallen under the exact same circumstances. Lucky for me there was a bar stool with a high back and I grabbed it an it lightened my fall.
We have had our morning walk but evening walk is in question. 104 at 5pm. It was 99 doing our morning walk and the dogs and myself got very hot.
Pat, the box for your son and his wife is delightful.
We used to have bats every night when we first moved in but now the community has built many miles up into the underlying areas of the mountains, so no more bats. They were a joy to watch. At dusk we get a tiny, probably gnat, in the greenbelt. The dragon flies and hummers have a feast.
I have no appointments next week so I probably will not leave the neighborhood.
Linda that is a beautiful QOV. I like the variety in your white stripes.
This quilt is going to San Antonio. One of my quilting friends brother in law is a Korean vet. My friend Debbie will present it to him, as she is family. Right now, we are not allowed to do presentations due to covid.
We hit 108 today.
