Diane, Diesel knows his own pace, just like Betty. NOT. So sorry about your vertigo. I got that several times and and went to physical therapy for it. Took several months but they did get rid of it. It was kind of like voodoo but it worked.
Wind blew here like the devil. But it has brought in colder weather. Yesterday was 107, tomorrow will be 85. I can do a lot of gardening in 83 degrees. And I will have a lot of clean up to do. And my cannas are in bloom on very long stems. I will have to stake them tomorrow.
Betty, how is your weather? Anymore rain coming. If I was you, I would be in front of someone regarding that drain area, with photos and demand a concrete side that will not wash down and block the drain. Can they divert the water. We have many flood basins in Las Vegas. We do not get much rain, but when we do, it is always a flood. You should not have to worry about your home getting flooded every time it rains.
I am staying home because the virus has raised it's ugly head. My great-granddaughter is coming for a visit next Tuesday. Flying to Vegas, driving to Newport, Ca to see his parents and then drive back 5 days later and visit in Las Vegas for 5 days then return to St. Louis. My daughter is beside herself with joy just waiting for their arrival.
I walked the front garden this morning and found a few areas that can use my help and with lower temps, it will be doable. I am also working with the HOA landscape crew, painting and stucco repair crews and we are redoing the guard house, then starting at the front entrance and going all the way down to the golf course. Refreshing all that is owned by the HOA. I can manage it, but do not have to use any muscle, just time. So it keeps me from going crazy staying home.
I have a new boyfriend. His name is Leo. He is 2 years old and thinks I am just the cat's meow. His eyes twinkle when he sees me and I get such a great big smile. His mom and dad cannot figure it out but they are happy about it.
First photo is sunflower type flower that return every year. Funny thing is I never planted it. It was planted by a bird. Second photo is geranium that is over 5 years old. This year I removed it from the pot, totally rehabbed the pot and replanted. My garden helper was sure I had killed it. I then fed it rose food with an insecticide to control the small cabbage worms. Imagine y surprise when that fertilizer is like a magic wand and the crazy plant has outproduced itself. This is it's third flush. Third photo is a hardy hibiscus my father gave me in 1981. He got it as a gift from Burpee with an order. The forth photo is another hardy hibiscus. They can take a freeze so you guys should be able to grow them.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today??Chat with friends Old/New..newcomers always welcome?
awww a picture of your new boyfriend, please, Sharon!
Hardy hibiscus....... sorry, don't believe it would take -40c....... that's a deep freeze, Sharon. -35c = -31F that's a hard freeze, so I don't think even a hardy hibiscus would stand up to that. I know that I grew one in Winnipeg in the summer (part shade, facing south) and it Loved it. Not sure it would take the more temperate Alberta temps though.
Morning all, Sharon will have much the same weather over the next few days feeling cooler for you but warmer for me.
Sorry to hear Sharon that you will not be taking any trips, with the numbers rising as they are, best stay safe.
The HOA will be blessed by your knowledge helping with beautification project, you’ve so much knowledge to offer.
Wonderful you and Leo have struct a friendship, if you have an opportunity I too would love a photo..Leo has good taste lol
Are your gardens in their prime? So beautiful and hardy..all I can say is wow.
Susan, June has hardy hibiscus growing here and they do well.
As for difficulties re rain drain off Sharon , very little they will do, small village,Major cost but I will continue calling to have someone come and speak with me.
I am having major cramps in my feet, what is with that..think I have vitamin 12 perhaps I could take some.
I let Ziggy out at 6 and came back to bed, should get up and work a few hours cutting limbs and trimming up the yard..Sharon is having a photography friend come to her place for photos of Inuk, not sure but she might take photos here.
Hungry this morning..
Do you know that I could not find geraniums this year but then I haven’t been out doing a lot nursery shopping normally through easily found.
Baring any problems the Dr brings up, we'll pick Doug up in Calgary tomorrow, to visit for a week or more 😁 Doug's going for a routine checkup & bloodwork, so nothing to worry about. He now goes around outside in a wheelchair 😢 He used to be such a walker, but with his falling, a wheelchair is a better option. Wish we still had my travel wheelchair now. Maybe should have kept it for situations like this.
It's going to be a wet & cool week, unfortunately - 70% chance of rain on Canada Day.
Betty - people passing you by & not helping is because they see you doing so much on your own, that they forget you are aging. Maybe you need to Do Less & hire out or get the boys to help more. I know, you're impatient & don't want to take up with them in their busy lives, but I've been noticing more & more that you're going to bed earlier & taking to the couch more, with soothing baths cuz you're HURTING! This ignoring that you need help, by your neighbours, is what happens when they see you DOING all the time. They aren't as aware as we apparently are.
Rant over 🤣😁

there was no option Susan, flash flood storm..
Shhhhh haven’t been feeling up to par, been debating about coming to hospital since Friday, finally said even though it’s nothing better get checked..pain in arm, clammy and pain in chest..likely pulled a muscle re ditch but am listening to you all, playing it safe..not sure how long I’ll be here but will let you know..
Please NO ratting on me, nobody could come in with me so they would fret..I’ll keep you posted
This message was edited Jun 29, 2020 4:55 PM

Was in hospital when I last posted..
I’ve already had my ecg (?) and blood work, likely be an hour before blood comes back

Glad you went to get checked
Waiting to hear from Betty, Sending positive thoughts.

Morning all, believe it to be a sunshine day, high humidity.
Am home, have arranged a stress test July 9th..3 blood tests, ECG and chest xrayall within hours, nurses and doc’s are relaxed, the new emerge wing has at least 20-25 rooms, .like being in hotel room, just darn cold.
Pain is still in chest and down arm but doc believes it’s from ditch work lol
Told me not do to anything too strenuous until results of stress test.
Thinkmit was around 10-11 when I got home.
Thanks for your concern
Glad to hear you got checked out.
Now listen to the doctor and don't do anything. Make your sofa your best friend.
Betty, I can imagine limiting your activities is difficult, but PLEASE pay attention to the doctor!!!
We had huge storms last night. High winds, much thunder & Lightening. "Dry basement" Wind was so high couldn't sit out and watch the storm. First time entire porch got wet. Wanted to sit out as a good sized turtle had gotten under our car and I wanted to watch her travels.
Glad to hear your basement stayed dry, I know that is a big relief.
It’s a hot one..sure glad no problems with flooding Karen, I so enjoy watching a storm move through, not fond of picking up limbs though lol. Turtle season, been seeing them on the road a lot..was going to help one cross but they tell you to leave them alone.
Been on phone all morning, Suzanne, Greg and mom. Mom went for X-rays this morning, thinks she pulled muscle in groin so she is resting as well lol
Yard is clean although all that sod and debris needs to be picked up, called township again, who knows if they will ever come...also house chores so not much to do but rest..you know I don’t do ‘nothing’ easily..thought I might bring up the box of wine glasses Darlene gave mem could basecoat with glass primer to entertain myself.
Forgot to send you photos of Inuk and Sharon took here yesterday..
Guys who bought shop adjoining my lot in the back are cutting down trees, cleaning it up for a parking lot, see they had moved the riding lawnmower about 10’ as not to have a tree hit it..often after heavy rain water just sits so mosquitos breed..I’ve been planting shrubs to fill in my property line, will take years but eventually I’ll not see them
Sent email to township showing my visit to hospital, kind if urging them that they need to do clean up as my visit was because of flood and their water grid work I did..highly unlikely that will work but hoping..Canada day tomorrow, hard to believe, usually the town has so much planned..sad!
Inuk is beautiful. You should not be doing any lifting. Sit on the sofa and elevate your feet.

Beautiful photo's of Sharon and Inuk. He is a gorgeous dog.
I was very nervous all night but grateful no water this morning. After all that, I don't suppose company had much profit on us. Glad to be dealing with such a good and fair company.
Township came and cleaned up..recycle trucks were at the roadside having lunch, slept in this morning and missed putting mine out so they said they would take it..hurrah
Nope, didn’t do anything, sitting here knitting on a scarf, off white recycled project.
HURRAY!! Betty's resting and doing what we, and the Dr, told her to do!! WOW oh WOW, Betty!
SO glad you went to the hospital instead of pretending that YOU are the one with the medical degree lol Seriously though, I for one know that it's far too easy to self-diagnose and be way off the mark. My cracked rib is a good f'instance. I thought I had just bruised it, and now that I know, I'm taking better care of myself as I should.
Doug brought me some lovely yarn, (includes dishcloth yarn!), so am going to see about making headbands with it. Not much of each yarn, but it's lovely.
That was nice of him to do that.
Happy Canada Day My Canadian friends...sunshine day, mega humidity..must get the gardens watered, we are expecting rain tomorrow but I tend not to believe forecasts.
Not much going on here in the real for Canada Da but the virtual celebrations are limitless.never seems like a holiday when it falls in the middle of the week.
Heard some equipment out back so guess they will spend the morning doing more clearing.
I’ve seen a few ants around this morning, guess I should make them a treat, must make sure it’s nowhere near where Ziggy can get to.
I’m restless, vacuumed, need to dust then have to decide how to fill my day.
Thoughtful of Doug, just know he will enjoy his time with you and Bob..Susan I’m amazed you have no tv, couldn’t do it.
What is in everyone’s plans..your July 4th is coming up this weekend, will your areas celebrate?
This message was edited Jul 1, 2020 8:07 AM
Happy Canada Day !!!
Same here Betty no parades, craft fair and I am not sure there will be a fireworks show. Everyone here has been lighting off fireworks since our long weekend in May. I'm lucky as the TH are not bothered by it.
Enjoy your visit with Doug Susan.
Diesel hasn't told me it is time yet.He wants to join CHaos and I when we go outside. He takes a little walk around than just sits and watches us. My heart is just aching. I'm not much of a crier but I sure have been having tears thinking about it. Chaos has become an absolute love. It's like he knows he needs to step up and not be goofy all the time. They are both loving the ac and are napping a lot.
It is beastly hot here - well for us . Hovering around the mid 90's Yesterday on the shores of Hudson and James Bay the temperature was over 90. That's unheard of. Here it is that clingy, humid heat so you feel like you are walking through a damp sheet when you are outside.
My new swim shoes arrived (thank you Amazon) so I am going to go into the lake today for a swim.
Sharon it sounds like you have some wonderful things to look forward to this summer.
Not sure what the day holds for me but I know time will be spent trying to keep cool. I miss being out in the sun but I just don't handle the heat well anymore. Plus 3 skin cancer spots has me wary. Remember when we were younger we used to lay out and sometimes even put baby oil on?
Betty I have had ants small and large on and off since May.Like you I have to be careful where I put ant traps. I use that ant liquid on a piece of waxed paper. They love it. I think I have got rid of them then a few weeks later they are back. There is some kind of flying ant downstairs that's odd - I have never seen them before.
Stay safe and well.
Are you sure its flying ants and not termites? Can you take one for ID?
we have hordes of ants in the lawn, and tiny ants in the kitchen (yes, they're ants). We used some Diatomaceous Earth (DE), food grade, in the kitchen, and I was finding dead ants on the kitchen window, so I know it worked! In the lawn it wasn't so apparent but we're seeing the grass grow back so it must be working.
Doug slept about 8 hours last night, and he says he usually sleeps 4 only, Guess it was having a long day, plus the peace & quiet out here.
We were supposed to take our motorhome to get some repaairs (minor) done today but he forgot it was a holiday, so he asked us to call on Friday to see about this weekend. Almost a good thing it's raining. We won't be going camping atm!
I hear both "my men" up & about.......... or maybe just Doug lol Bob does like to sleep in hahaha He heard me get up at 5am he said, but he's snuggled back into bed. It IS chilly out, so I can't really blame him
Dianne, Linda just messaged me, hope Left out a line because of wording..took a photo ..then we wonder how we are not beating Covid..grrr
Heart goes out to you, poor Diesel, amazing how Chaos is picking up that Diesel is not well. This heat, wet humidity is hard, best stay inside..think I know which shoes you are talking about, if I look hard enough might find a pair in closet that I buy for walking beaches when we travel..sure makes the difference. At the house we would order loads of sand, by summers end and current it would be at neighbors, he always thanked us for his beach.enjoy your swim.
Susan, that would be great to go camping a few days..are your parks, camper sites open?
Going to cook souvlaki dinner, eat around 3, be late lunch/early supper..might be easier to digest..had I not been examined at emerge I’d swear it was heart issues..must be my imagination but I will do little.
Must check to see if there is a fire band, maybe later I could burn the massive amount of branches in the pit..should have bought marshmallows.
What lake Betty ? I imagine Sauble, Wasaga, Grand Bend will be packed. What is wrong with these people ? As a friend used to say 'dumb a**es'. Have they no consideration of others ?
I am culling my very extensive CD collection. I literally have 100's of CDs Lots of blues, big band and jazz that someone can enjoy. I am wondering if I can drop a box off at Value Village ?
We just came in from about 30 min outside. Man it is humid out there.
Hold on to your socks Dianne, more humid by weekend.
Kempenfest Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe..they have Kempenfest 3 days long weekend in August, won’t happen this year, poor crafters, big financial loss to them but then again if they had activity July 1st why not then?? Insane
I know you’ve a great collection of cd’s, could you not put on kijjiji or local marketplace as I’m sure there are collectors that would jump at it.
Karen, I’m not lucky in growing clematis..I’ve a purple one and it has maybe 3-4 flowers.
Kyle came to visit for an hour, he could see I’m not feeling the beast so left and told me to call him if I need him.
Been watching a murder mystery series all day...tried eating, don’t know if it’s heartburn but couldn’t get in down..temped to head to bed.
We did Kempenfest for just 1 year. Wasn't worth our while. I hated outdoor shows. We had to take all of our inventory out every night so that added a couple of hours onto an already 12 hour day.
Lots of lookers for sure..do they not have security now that you don’t have to remove your wares..Lordy Dianne, with all my trips to Meaford and Kempenfest and my living stained glass we just may have come across each other.
In bed..all cozied up!
No plans for this weekend. No public fireworks or parade. Our covid numbers are jumping 15 to 30 or more per day. More businesses are closing, due to someone coming to work sick. So stores have to be thoroughly cleaned.
June 22 we had 85 cases. Today we have 256

Morning all, another hot one today...
Sorry to hear that Covid numbers are up lindakay, difficult times when people don’t adhere to the guidelines, it’s sad but most often it’s not them who end up Ill but someone that are being cautious.
The 2 acre lot across from me had great fireworks last night, they no sooner ended that behind me started with their display.
Thinking about getting out of bed , 8:30am, seems each day I get up later.
Ziggy is cuddling with me, think he wants out so best I get a move on
Haven't been to bed yet. Couldn't fall asleep then I fell down a rabbit hole reading a book. I just had to finish it.
We went out for a couple of short forays but it is like walking through a damp sheet. The TH actually turned back back before I did.
Stay safe, well and cool today.
When it’s so humid everything feels so wet Dianne, best you have a nap and find another book..is it mysteries you read? If we Canadians are cooking can’t imagine all of you further south dealing with higher temps. Did you see photos of Wasaga Beach yesterday?
Susan, how is the visit with Doug going?
Still in bed, going to call and see I’d doctor’s office is open today..
Anybody any suggestions for Charlie horses, my feet keep freezing up?
Ben used to swear by taking a sip of Milk of Magnesium, he kept a bottle near the bed. He claimed it ALWAYS stopped his cramps.
Pat I would take it if I thought it would help. I've taken big doses of magnesium for years with no relief.
Will make a point in buying some when next in town..thanks, I do have B12 so took one.
Sharon dropped in for 10 minutes, said why not sit near pond but Lordy so many skitters, know I bought a zapper last year, might be in back shed, should plug it in near pond..she pulled a few branches and cut so It might help skitters if more sunshine came over lounge chairs. She will bring her long handled loppers next time she is going to town and cut a few more, too much forest..plant trees then cut down trees lol
she left and I came back to bed.
Haven’t eaten anything yet, I’ll make a bowl of soup and stay up or I’ll never sleep tonight... maybe I will sit outback in screened in porch and watch videos for different masks designs to make for easier breathing for Mel and maybe try one of them, only takes about 15 minutes.
Called doctors office, it’s closed till tomorrow.
What are you all up you?
Thanks for asking, Betty - visit with Doug is going well. He's happy as a clam, sitting next to me, on a laptop, checking the news & playing solitaire. We have him set up on spare laptop we have. Good thing his left side is next to me - he has his hearing aid on that that side. Yesterdaaay he sat outside watching us doing gardening (me) and Bob working in the shed doing "stuff" on the table saw. We went to Olds on the day he arrived, and he met a friend of ours, Chrystal - had tea with her. Today he'll join me at our Seniors' Centre - we have a special meeting to decide what we'll do about the building. It's falling apart.......
Betty my mother used to take Calcium Sandoz to help with her cramps. It was in liquid form. It didn't work for me. I scared the heck out of Warren the first time I had a leg cramp during the night. I would wake up screaming then would hop around pulling my toes into my shin. The pain intensified for just a brief second as I did that but it stopped the cramp. How he got to be over 30 and never had a leg cramp is beyond me.
The air is heavy and hard to breathe. I imagine people with breathing problems must be in terrible states today. My mother actually kept a room AC installed all year. Sometimes in the apartment during the winter my dad needed the ac on so he could breathe.
Susan I am happy to read Doug is enjoying his visit and you his company. Is your friend Susan going to be able to visit this year ? I imagine with the Covid travel restrictions she won't be able.
Went into the village to go to Foodland and the PO. A pink ball cap that I ordered from Amazon arrived. I really like it as it has a large brim on it that protects my face well.
Deb how do your dogs fare with this heat ? The TH being almost totally covered with black fur heat up quickly.
When I went to take the TH down to go in the lake there was a black rat snake hanging down from a tree right over the rock we use to walk into the lake. A tad unnerving. Diesel barked at it.
Pat it is not termites downstairs. I know what they look like. I had some old screening stacked on a chair right where I found the bugs. I am thinking there might have been a nest in the screening.
Judy what are your plans for your long weekend ? Still MIL sitting ? You are a saint if you are.
