Happy Birthday Liz, I hope it is a good one!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today??Chat with friends Old/New..newcomers always welcome?
Beach looks beautiful. I showed those bikes to my hubby. He say they are really cool.
Betty, (and the rest of you!!) did you get all the elastic you need? We have it coming out our ears in this community now. SEVERAL people selling 196 yards for about $39 dollars, some also have a different product that is softer. I bought a spool of 196 and 10 yards of the soft stuff to try.
Birthday greetings Pat, here is hoping your day is special in every way.
I did not receive my elastic Lindakay but did receive 3 rolls of 70 yards
So humid here today, body aching like crazy..went for perm and haircut and was asked if I fell because I was slow moving, nope all weather rented..
Made face mask for hairdresser..she loved it
Beautiful face mask Betty.
ADORABLE!! What a fun idea!
And thank you all for the birthday wishes.
Well.... I sat down at work, looked up the Social Security site, did the math & gave notice at work. July 31 is my last day. I know there will be changes, and I won't have as much discretionary funds, but I am already happier.
Happy birthday Pat. Congratulations on your coming retirement.
Thank you all,
Happy birthday pat.

♫♪Happy Birthday, Pat ♪♫
Hope you both had a great day 😘
Happy Looking-forward-to-retirement, Pat!!! Time for someone to throw you a retirement party - people at work?!?!
Our yard is starting to look completed! Bob's working on the siding at the back of our place - looking good! I think we have the ant population controlled and our grass is growing back. I'm really happy the way things are looking.
The rose bush at the back is just bursting with red buds.
The peonies on the table are not real, but we keep getting asked if they are. 😁
The rhubarb was here when we moved.
We just got this statue - called "girl walking in the leaves". Someone suggested that she's a garden sprite - I like that! 😊
My DD Michelle suggested that I take a video of our yard. Of course, being in Winnipeg, she hasn't seen it, but I think that's just what I'll do - a video, and send it to her, and also put it on the Sistahs of the Heart on the FB page for those of you who'd like to see it. Yes, the yard & garden are an immature perennial one, but I can see what it will look like in a couple of years.
There will be no retirement party. We are not even allowed in the same room with each other because of COVID-19. It is what it is, I'm OK with that.
Can't really say I ever liked rhubarb but it makes me nostalgic, I had a nice plant of it growing up. I remember my cat losing a mouse in the stalks and going crazy looking for that mouse!
Morning all,
Heavy rains here again overnight, neighbours were out cleaning fitches and water grate at end of my drive in hopes that there would be less flooding on my property..joys of living at the bottom of a hill, big sigh
Terrific news Pat, once you are in retirement phase lots you can do to earn extra $$$. You are so creative that you can repurpose furniture and sell, I’m sure of it!
Susan your flowers are beautiful and you are ahead of what is open in my yard..what was standing now has been flattened...even tree branches 8 feet tall are laying on the ground.
Liz, did you do anything special for your birthday..
Oops Pat just pulled in, her birthday was Sunday and june’s Is today..sun is trying to come out so maybe we can sit outside.,be back in a bit
Beautiful flowers Susan. You must be proud with all your hard work showing off.
Well, if you guys ar not on Facebook then you have no idea what our Betty did. Her area is having major rain and she had a drain that was on her property or near her property that was plugged with debris. She she took it upon herself to don a dollar store rain cover and adventure outside into the rain and into the flooding water area with a rake and a shovel in her waders that had holes in them. First she broke the rake, one she had just painted orange but proceeded on and with the shovel got the debris partially removed o the water would drain. She could have drowned but she didn't. Then Mel came over and discovered she had some minor flooding in the basement so 20 towels later, that was mopped up and towels in the drier. 20 soaked towels are very heavy. Then she had to sleep with one ear to the pumps, just in case they failed. What is absolutely amazing is several cars drove by, saw what she was doing, and did not stop to help her. So, she may be late coming on here today.
Susan, your garden is coming together. All a green thumb is hard work.
Pat, retirement is a learned skill. I retired in 2005 and I spun my wheels for close to a year. I was so used to going 100 miles a hour, I didn't know what to do. I am so pleased you are able to retire and start a whole new chapter in your life. I haven't traveled in 8 years. It got to hard to get Vern to the plane and then on the plane. And who could I leave the dogs and garden with. I am traveling to my son's in Spokane and my gardener is staying at my home to watch the garden and pets. Know him for over 10 years. I go in August. Worst month of the year in Las Vegas to leave your garden.
Our high today is going to be 108. Our low was 82. Good think I can take the heat. Everything is on irrigation but you have to keep a real close eye on everything.
Afternoon everybody, thank you Sharon for updating everyone else I’ve been in bed all day only got up for a hot bath wash my hair because the AC guy Greg was sending was coming out any minute and didn’t want to look as bad as I felt. What is a childhood friend, wouldn’t take $$$ for service call or parts..
I had quite the night, was mopping every 15 minutes till about 3am while listening for the pump to come on which was every 20 seconds.Tried sleeping this morning but trucks in bins were being brought in next to my bedroom because of the flooding in neighbours house. Guess overall I was lucky..I had to do 6 loads of towels so that occupied part of my night.
That being said every bone in my body is hurting big-time and no I didn’t have the option not to go out into the ditch or I’d be flooded like Jamie. Suppose to rain again later, was hoping to hear from township but haven’t..work needs to be done sooner than later, the mud from up the hill has covered 1/4 of the grate..
Greg was on his way home from work, dropped in to tell me Rob was coming today, I was just climbing out of the ditch when he got here..he was not a happy camper.
I was waist high when I went into the ditch..greg took photo s I was climbing out and it was back to half decent level.
Was just taking to new neighbour 3 houses up, he said his pool over flowed the rain was so heavy, this the water in Jamie’s basement..didn’t help my water issue either.
Scatter rugs are outdoor drying, wind is up so hoping they are dry and I can bring them in before rain starts again.
That’s my story..
Still a good news story as Darlene called me early this morning to tell me they confirmed John has cancer..always someone with more problems than we isn’t there.
Was watching tv all night long, don’t know what to make of Covid..I worry for all your safety.
I look a mess, shouldn’t post myself in this condition but know you understand
hahaha only myself & Betty would think of cleaning a drain, wearing a dress........
Well, but it makes sense, right? no getting pants getting wet up to the waist hahaha
We have a severe thunderstorm pending here, but as Torrington is up on a hill. the chance of flooding is minimal - besides the fact that we don't have a basement anyway! One of the perks of living in a mobile home. 😁🤣
Our friend Doug (86yo) is planning on coming to stay with us for a week or so, starting on Tuesday. He'll be our first visitor EVER from Calgary. Looking forward to seeing him. We don't have a 2nd bedroom, so suggested that he could stay at the hotel right across the street (yup, walking distance) but he said he doesn't want to spend $$ to stay there, so guess he'll sleep on the couch as he says.
Betty, I saw your Facebook post. Can't believe the city can't fix the drains any better.
YIKES, I would hate to deal with that fear several times a year!
Good morning. Betty, I hope you are feeling better today!
Morning everyone, looks like a sunshine day out there, had been calling for rain Friday and Saturday but it shows a week of sunshine. So that is a plus.
I’m typing from my bed trying to talk myself into getting up but must, mega clean up out there...not sure how I’ll dress, right now it’s on chilly side, have to double fresh, once this morning then another outfit for this afternoon. Have to set everything back in their place that I had set up incase a lot more flooding than I had.. no trouble filling in hours of my day.
Susan, will be nice to have Doug come visit..it’s hard when you would like to visit friends but just don’t have at a lot of $$$ for hotels, couch being uncomfortable is worth would be worth it for him to have time with you both.enjoy and don’t worry about him.
I’d like to find energy to make a few 3-d face masks this afternoon... I’m amazed when you shop how almost everyone is complying.
How are you all doing, not seeing many post, hope others are doing ok...
What are your plans for today?
Up and at it
Betyy, so sorry to hear you have so much clean up to do please don't over do it but I know you

In a case like this Lindakay I CAN take my time and will..took covering off of one patio set as I will sit out this afternoon,Myers, feet up and enjoy!
Having coffee and leftover cake I had when Pat and June were here Tuesday morning, still tasty then will take covering off another 2 sets and put up umbrella’s, nothing says summer as open umbrella’s 😉
Are you working on sewing another top so you can long arm it? Do you mind my asking what they charge? Is it by the piece, how many hours? Etc.
My godson Paul’s birthday is on the 2nd of July, I have a fishing panel I bought in Pennsylvania last Easter, should take it out and do it for him..
My friend Jim sent the this hologram, tied posting but can’t get it to work
Maybe I’ll see if I can add to Facebook or message to you all
I set the price for the long arm, for the small one, I charged $50.00, plus $10.00 for binding. The 2nd one was almost king size, I charges $75.00 plus $20.00 for binding. 8 hours for the small one, 12 hours for the large one. I told them
since I am just a beginner, I won't charge much, until I feel more comfortable. It puts a bit of money in my pocket, and I get the practice. She was very pleased with both.
When I had my king size dresden plate quilted, the quilter charged me $168.00 and I gladly paid that.
Sounds reasonable, sure beats struggling with a regular machine.
Know here it’s way more than that, price triples if they are being creative with design.
Got my grass cut, actually had a street gabfest lol. Was a tad disappointed as 3 said they saw me in the ditch..hmmm nobody thought of helping???
Pretty sad no one offered to help.
It is sad no one offered to help. We do have great neighbors here . They have helped a few times and of course we return the favor.
Just been tired and not even getting to the computer.
My helpers come tomorrow & I have a list for them. Kev's gone to Portland & I will finish up the pot bench & they will pick up this weekend. I put another coat of white on, tomorrow I will paint the letters on. I still haven't decided what, I had hoped they would choose... oh well.
King size for $75??? oh my!! I wish I could only pay that much! I'd be dragging out quilt tops and getting these puppies DONE! It cost me $35 to rent the machine for the day.
I morning all, overcast here, rain is coming however radar doesn’t show rain into later this afternoon.
Pat, you they have a favourite saying you could paint on their piece? You’ve available a right to be tired, so maybe when the crew arrive you can sit and give orders lol
Can’t believe you can rent the long arm for $35 a day..unbelievably cheap.
I was all gung ho earlier this morning, did a few things on my list but couch looks mighty good so here i am am, feet up and thinking of a nap. Cheeks of my butt paining big time so won’t push it.
Closest place we have that rents machine time charges much more than that. Plus first you must take a $50. class.
Andrew Charges about $80, for a full size. His machine is fully computerized so he can set it up and let it go until the quilt needs to be rolled up to a new spot. It's very big and has a large area so it gives him some time to do other sewing while the quilting is going on. Was I going to do long arming, it's the way to go. but at $40,000 it's a bit beyond my budget.
I (we) need to win a lottery!
I have asked them for what they wanted and they want SOMETHING but want me to decide. Oh well... they are coming this weekend. I'd better choose something and get it painted on!
Morning all, sunshine day..Ziggy wanted out so up at 7,got dressed and climbed right back into bed..going to get up and try to be productive till at least noon..yesterday had a good start then spent rest of the day on the couch...
Drats, posted long post on sewing thread thinking it was on this thread..should go copy and paste..
Moved post to here:
Morning all, not jumping to get out of bed, watching hallmark movie..got up, tgot dressed then back to bed I came. Promises to be a sunshine day, called for rain yesterday but didn’t get any.
Pat, here is hoping your coworker is strong enough to get through Covid..would you joy have to be checked because the spews (?) can live on? how did your employer take the news of your retirement? Too bad you couldn’t have started working part time.
Deb, how are you making out, have you been sending out resume’s?
Dianne, how is Diesel?
Missing Judy, here I thought she would be post some of her stories, always a chuckle.
Karen, has the weather changed enough for you to be able to sew in the afternoon basement?
Here I believe you can have what you call a bubble of 10 family/friends but think I’ll still be cautious.
Debbie, Debbie come out wherever you are.
Liz, I’ve been missing planning the annual road trip thus ive been going through photo’s..so loved my visit with you and your kindness in showing us San Francisco..through the photo’s taken I’ve got to meet most of you, Judy,Sharon,Karen, lindakay,Joyce and Thunder...maybe once Covid is behind us I can continue my quest to meet the rest of you.
What are you all up to today?
It is Sunday. Staying in my jammies and being lazy.
Love those days lindakay..you deserve the relaxation.
Went out to put roof on old birdhouse, lordy not worth the efforts so I took hammer to it and put the daisy one I had made this spring out..that is 4 replaced, end of that job!
Cut down some branches, hard to imagine, emery year I cut them off main trunk and each year they get larger..put my clippers away before I cut what I shouldn’t..maybe tomorrow I’ll do more snipping.
One of those clock watching days, keep thinking I should be doing more than I am despite I’ve no energy. I was thinking though I should check out sod, need some for where the back shed is but first need to know when the boys are around, too heavy for me to do right? Lol
I'm doing OK, sending out resumes, I had one phone interview and an in person interview, but nothing, yet. Though, truthfully, I wouldn't mind trying to make this retirement thing work.
So glad you posted with an update, been worried about you..I sure am hoping you can make it work. How is your daughter doing?
Pffft... I lost a long post.
Diesel has had some good days but he has a long way to go. He doesn't want to eat so getting meds in him is difficult. He hates peanut butter so that is out. When I see the vet this week I am going to ask her if she could give me something I can inject. He is in pain tonight because he overextended himself trying to walk where Chaos and I went. Of late he has been going a few yards then sitting for a bit before he ventures on.
Hot, hot here too.Nice breeze coming of of the lake.
I had a doozy of a vertigo attack last week that had me down and out.for a couple of days.
I'll go back and catch up with all you posted.
Stay safe and well.
