morning all, having coffee on the couch, watching many walking their dogs or jogging with quick steps trying to beet the heat of the day!

Sharon, here is hoping you’ve got your walk in and rather than work your gardens will sit and enjoy then, perhaps with a good book or get a journal out and write about how your gardens became so beautiful, what you would plant again or not...

I will make breakfast , water the flowers then play with the owl baby blanked,,will finish the leaves and his feathers..at some point I need to cut grass,McWilliams do that a little later when the skitters are resting.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Your QOV is going to be very appreciated, Linda. I have a few lined up but waiting until the people tell me they are ready and comfortable for a presentation.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I can see why it would be difficult to do presentations of the QOV, many you present with such keepsakes are elderly and feeble, would hate to see them stressed about getting Covid..

Gardens are watered, I spent 1/2 hour pulling weeds, at the point of not knowing which tall greenery stems I want to keep or burn

guys out in back area busy cutting down more trees and loading the large wood and chipping smaller trees

Time to wash the sweat rolling down my face, get dressed and relax

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - Doug's fine, since the fall. It made him a bit grumpy for a couple of days, but he tries so hard not to be.
We went for coffee at the Senior's Silver Willows this morning and he got to meet the ladies of our community.
Yesterday we watched church with his current & my old church, online. Later today we'll go back & watch online services from my current church in Three Hills - Knox United.
Nice weather now, but supposed to be raining this afternoon, so going outside to enjoy the sunshine 😁

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I’m sure he is thrilled with the time and effort you are putting into his visit.

Mom fell the other day, had xrays and saw doctor this morning, few hairline cracks..gave her muscle relaxants and pain meds, another “stay in bed” situation. Doc said she was lucky she didn’t do anything to hip parts they did about ten years ago. Glad Brian is in the city, he will try his best in looking after her and letting Sophie in and out.

Will go water plants, get Ziggy in and call it a day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Some are back to doing presentations. I'll just wait until mine feel comfy with it. I am doing one on the 23rd.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, calling for possible passing of thunderstorm but not until later this afternoon.

Grabbing a coffee then will water the gardens, wanted to last night, got those hose turned and there was a skunk, quietly put down my hose.

Went and put garbage to roadside and neighbour told me there is a real parade of skunks and raccoons that come down my drive along with a deer from time to time.

Karen, here is hoping by August things will have improved somewhat with Covid that you can start doing presentations. When listening to CNN lots of talk about numbers rising in California,Texas and Florida, how it Tennessee doing.

When showing the map one things come to mind, these 3 states all have miles of beaches where people are gathering...heard midland had cases yesterday, I’ll just stay in like is the norm,

Keep thinking there is something I’m suppose to do today, best I look at the calendar.

What is planned for your day?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Same thing. Stay home. We now have 397 cases, 350 active. I am not taking any chances of going out to find it.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

It's always something around here. Last night, when I was bringing the dogs in, I saw a young possum in my garage. The garage is attached to the house, and the dogs have to run through to go into the back yard. My garage is stacked high with boxes, totes, dog crates, and exercise pens, plus some old furniture. Big job, but, I need to get things organized out there, and try to find where it's living, if it's living there, and try to chase it out. I don't want the dogs to catch it. This guy wasn't quite as big as a squirrel, so, I'm guessing it's young. I hope the whole family isn't living in there. It was at the side of the garage closest to the house, the door to the yard is at the far end, and the dogs were outside, so I don't think it just wandered in, and it froze for a few minutes, then squeezed between some boxes out of sight. Today's project, find the possum!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I see lindakay your postings with statistics, but not knowing you area I don’t see how many deaths?? Just don’t want it, just the sickness part and recovering if you ever do..worry about the children and pregnant moms as well.

Oh Lordy Deb, that might be a major task, think someone said they have seen possums around here but I don’t think they live this far north, will check google. If your weather is like hours today wouldn’t be the day to start moving boxes. Do they pass on diseases? Are you anxious about your 2nd interview?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

From what I read possums don't carry rabies, but, they do carry other diseases that could affect the dogs if they were to get bitten.

It's horribly hot here, highs in the 90's through the weekend. I have one window air conditioner in, and keep retreating to that room.

Yes, nervous about the interview tomorrow. I still need to find clothes to wear. I wore my one conservative suit to the first interview, I think I need to find something else, but everything else is more colorful. 3 of the 4 people I'm interviewing with I interviewed with before, and all three were very nice.

Verona, ON

Deb The TH and I are sending positive thoughts for your interview tomorrow. You'll do great. Remember they reworked the job posting.

Blistering hot here. I had to go into Kingston for my eyes this morning. I knew there was a problem with the left cataract surgery. When I look out of that eye things just jump around.I have to patch it when I drive The implant didn't go in as it should have - I felt a tug when it was put in place that I didn't with the right eye. So now the optometrist is going to grind a prism into the left lens and see if that will help.Have to wait for that so I won't be driving far.

Stay safe, cool and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Always so worrisome

Dianne when they are working with the eyes..did the give you an estimate as to how long you will have to wait?

Deb, it’s way to hot to wear a suit, am sure they will understand. Would be like living in the oven with no a/c, don’t blame you for favouring that one room.saying prayers you not only will get the job but maybe work your own hours.

Darlene is in midland, not 10 minutes away, and had a few drops of rain, none here.

Pat dropped in for 11/2 hour, was nice seeing her.she had a bag of premie hats she had knit for premiers.looked like popsicles, colours so soft.

Didn’t do anything strenuous today, just a tad more mobile than I have been in a week, chest paining again, took meds and will have a nap... big yawn

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, we have had no deaths so far. As of last night, we have 397 cases, 47 have recovered.

Good luck with your interview tomorrow Deb.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good news..read a few journals who survived Covid, not like the flu for sure.
Took a walk out back, lordy the amount of trees they cut down, no place for my deer anymore. Took a couple photos

Deb, incase I don’t get to say it in the morning, best of luck, will be checking on the outcome.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Deb, we are all crossing our fingers for you. Don't stress overmuch about your wardrobe. Can you remember what they were wearing? Most likely they won't remember what you had on either. As long as you look professional, it will be fine.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful flowers Betty.

Our covid numbers jumped 53 today. Now 450, for our county.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are moving up in cases leaps and bounds but I still do not know anyone with it.. Crazy parties all weekend showing the majority of individuals without their masks. I did go to the doctor Monday morning to get my blood draw for my annual checkup. Not going anywhere else. The next few days are going to be OK then we will have 6 straight days above 110. That is going to be miserable.

Deb, so excited for you about your interview tomorrow. Sending you angels to sit on your shoulder and help you come across spectacular. Say great things about your prior employer. Always looks good but only if they ask you.

Linda, you are like me. Hiding from the virus and the heat. Our cases have increased but deaths have slowed down. Younger individuals are the ones getting sick. State budget is a mess and schools are only going to have half the students 2 days a week and the other half 2 days a week and the other 3 days on the computer. All parents are up in arms and it is a total mess.

Diane, how is Diesel doing. Cecil is finally over the fireworks. After Saturday night, we are changing all of the fireworks rules for the greenbelt that runs directly through the homes. Many home owners are very upset about the loud booming noise that totally frightened the smaller children and a lot of pets. Won't happen again next year.

My grandson is coming down from Provo to meet his niece for the first time. My granddaughter, husband and baby will get in late tonight. She was 4 months old on Sunday. Has been in California visiting his parents. Only vacation husband gets for the next 4 years. In medical school and after this break, no more breaks. They have not gone anywhere in California, so hope all comes out well for all of us.

Betty, your flowers are beautiful. And everything looks so green and clean. I will take a photo tomorrow to show you all what we put up with in the desert southwest when it gets hot. Trees shed their leaves to stay alive.

Betty, I am so pleased you are taking care of yourself. Something must have gotten your attention.

You all take care and I will check in tomorrow. Deb. Looking forward to hear about the interview.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I think the interview went well. I met with 2 of the engineers that were part of the first interview, plus the site manager, and a business development manager. They had a job description written up, that looks like it came straight out of my resume. The connectors that they manufacture, are components that we used to use at my last company, so I'm used to seeing them, I'm just used to being the end user, rather than the manufacturer. I had to do a "mechanical apptitude" test, which, considering I know nothing about mechanical engineering, was pretty common sense, and I did ok on that. They said they'd get back to me soon, so now, it's just waiting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still sounds promising..just a wait and see situation which is hard on the nerves. Guess they don’t say if others are being interviewed? Sure would be nice if they gave a specific day as to notifying you with a yes or no.

Darlene and John came over and cut quite a lot of limbs down, I can actually see daylight in my backyard, good view of pond...am pleased!

Went to get a western/fries, 5 cement construction workers were getting their meal, we chatted for a bit, they were going to eat in their work van, i invited them to use my backyard as a picnic area lol .. I stayed inside and they enjoyed their lunch

Doesn’t hurt to show kindness in this extreme heat

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

The interview definitely went well. I left my phone home when I ran to the store, and when I got back I had a missed call from the HR woman where I interviewed. She said I will be getting an offer letter!! I am so excited! If I have to work, you can't beat working at a place that created a job just for you! And, everyone there is just so nice.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doing the happy dance Deb, magnificent news..know you were concerned now you can look forward to working in a job you like and meeting new friends..I’m so excited one would think it was I who got a new job lol

What did the furries think about you going back to work? Lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So very happy for you Deb.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Perfect ending Deb. Just like a Hallmark movie. I, like Betty, fee like I got the new job instead of you. It is just nice that something positive is happening to someone.

It was hot here today but not as hot as Linda. There was a light breeze so it made it tolerable. I did clean my KOI pond after back washing the filter. I put the hose in the bottom of the pod, with a sprayer attached and stirred up all of the debris that might be hiding under the big boulders and then skimmed it. It should look marvelous tomorrow. I hand water some pots before I cleaned up all of the sumac leaves. I actually got in my car and left the neighborhood. I needed to go to the bank. I used the outside ATM.

Betty, it was so nice of your friends to come cut some branches. They probably knew if they didn't do it you would. Having those workers eat in your back landscape will come back at you two fold. You will never know until it happens but they will be driving by one day and they will see you doing something an older lady should not be doing and they will stop and help.

I was watching a blog on Instagram today and discovered I have been dead heading dahlias wrong all of these years. So tomorrow I will go, when in the shade and finish the job. You deadhead dahlias just about the same as geraniums. I was just pinching off the dried up bloom.

Pat, you have been quiet. So has Susan. What are you two up to besides no good. Karen are you doing anything exciting. I tell my sister, we are living Groundhog Day every day. Same thing every day but I am OK with that.

I need to head to bed because I have a busy day tomorrow gardening.

First photo

Linda, difference between your and my heat was I was 106 with 2% humidity and you were 108 with 55% humidity. But you probably have lovely skin.

First photo is sumac leaves on the patio. This is one days worth. Third photo is the garden area covered. Second and forth photos are cleaned up and fifth photo is my handy rechargeable battery operated blower. I have two batteries because one is not enough. I have two large sumacs in the back and a very large one in the front. Hopefully they are just about done dumping leaves.

Thank you all for your kind words! My tentative starting date is July 27th. Still need to complete a background check and drug test. The offer letter came, and they pay is slightly more than I was making. In a way it will be sad going back, I really have enjoyed being home with the dogs, but, once the extra money for unemployment ends at the end of July, it would have been tough making ends meet. I really am so blessed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon.. and where is the rain they was was coming? Sure could use it..sooo humid.

Man across the street has been out washing his car, Andrew who does ditch weeding came today , don’t they know in this heat they should not.

Doesn’t look like the heatwave will end soon.

Mega work Sharon, looks beautiful and yes they know I’d have tried lol

Deb, no fun being unemployed with stressing about $$$, difficult when only on one income.

Still processing what Dr. Was talking about today, more tests in the next few weeks,
more blood tests, chest and back tests today..dr. Dolezol is a special, speaks so softly, add a face mask and medical terminology I am completely lost.

Will wait till all tests are back and have have my own Doctor who speaks in layman’s term explain things.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sharon, that is a lot of work. Don't over do it.

Congratulations on the the job Deb.

Glad to hear you are getting test done Betty. But waiting for results can be stressful. Please take it easy till you know more.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Not doing much, going to work, come home & read. Tonight I was using the table saw and somehow jammed it. Stopped dead and won't restart. I need to find the manual. It is not the house circuit breaker, so maybe the table saw itself has an extra one... I had two scrap pallets I intended to cut up and throw out. Guess I'll look for answers tomorrow.

Deb, so happy for your news. I know it takes a HUGE load of your mind. Job hunting is one of my LEAST favorite things to do!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess over last few years the tests they did was there to review, I did not realize the specialist would be there during stress test and go through every thing in detail..Had blood technician come in and had series of X-rays and had me wait while he got reports.

Think he went and got results. from everyone’s file who was visiting him yesterday and gave me their results..

Somewhere during all my woes he mumbled about during certain circumstances some have their driver licence taken away,,but why? know I did very poorly on stress test, guess going through all I he told me I had problems it’s I was more focus on that .
Before leaving first think I asked was “are you telling me I’ll not be able to drive?? He said not right at this time?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That would be a blow but I know, one way or another, you will manage. It is tough to lose the freedom of driving, and I hope that whatever concerns they have, will not be bad enough that it will be necessary. Sending prayers for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Pat...just took me by surprise

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my. Why would you not be able to drive?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Wow! Didn't he give any explanation?? The day will probably come, but, I can't imagine being told I can't drive! I hope you get some answers.

Drug test today. Guess I better go see about renewing my driver's license, too, while I'm out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Decided to lay on back deck for awhile, very humid, thinking maybe of napping.

First off I just thought I was having stress test and a nurse would be pleasant but dr. Dolezol who specialized in Internal medicine was there.

He reviewed my file while I did the test, rated 3 out of 10, wasn’t good.
Said my blood pressure was quite high
With computers now days they can check your tests and all entries a doctor may have entered in my file. Went and checked last monday’s X-ray,came back and had a nurse take blood, before meeting was over he had the results back.

Have

Bilateral kidney atrophy

High blood pressure

Fatty liver

Saw markings on my lung, could be scar from a precious bought of pneumonia (never had pneumonia)

When he was examining, pressed on vertebrae, excruciating pain, he said osteoporosis had left 3 disks ?? Compacted together, very little space between them thus could be reason for chest pain, some squeezing of something, couldn’t understand him, said that could cause chest pain, numbness in left arm and tingling in left hand

I go for an electrocardiogram Wednesday , they will call me with date for mammogram .. just as I was leaving he scheduled another X-ray on chest, back, throat

My doctors office is not open till Monday.will call and make an appointment for shortly after tests are done.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Deb - hurrah!!!! SO Pleased for you - a tailor made job, higher pay!
Betty - glad you're taking it easier (can't say "easy" can we 🤣) BOO on the not driving!!
Took Doug back home yesterday. He's filling out an application for a manor out here!! It will be SO nice to have him in the area - only 20 min drive from us, in a place where we go to at least 3x a week! Not only that, but 1/2 the rent. We viewed a bachelor suite and the fellow in it says he really likes it and the fellow who gave us the tour of the place was very helpful. There is a waiting list, but once Doug has the application in, we will wait & see.
Sorry that I've been MIA - Picked strawberries from the garden last night.
My new FitBit isn't recording all my activities - only calories & steps, active & resting heart rate.......... and it's not a cheap one - it should record sleep, activities, etc

Verona, ON

Congratulations Deb. I am so happy for you.

Another stifling, sultry day out there. Watered early - before dawn. Betty are you supposed to get the rain promised this weekend ? The TH aren't interested in going outside either. It is so hot there is little traffic on the lake. I had to pick up some tick meds for the boys so I decided I would go to Foodland after. Drove by but didn't stop - the lot was as busy as I have ever seen it. Maybe this hot weather is bringing people out.Lots of germs running around out there. I'll be staying home.

Stay safe, well and cool

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, we just had quite the storm, about same as a few weeks ago, looks like my home is on island, 2 more storm cells hitting, one around 7 and other around 10 and much more in eye if storm..maybe that will take humidity away. Guess it will be another night listening for pumps and flooding inside.
I’m like you, living in cottage country brings in the masses so best stay home and get comfy with the TH

Susan, let’s hope his application gets accepted, at least if he is on the lust there is a chance of getting in ..Yummy on the berries.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you need to drink lots of water, to help your kidneys function better. Also watch your blood pressure.

Victoria Harbour, ON

lol will do, but it will have to be juice, no can drink water
