Sun only shined for less than an hour yesterday. It looks gray and dreary out there right now.
Thought I was smart putting bags of garbage - just 2 - in the screened in room. I don't get the mile up the lane every week to take the garbage. Well some ^%#^* animal (I'm thinking raccoon) pulled 1 of the screens off and had a blast. No wonder the TH was going crazy Sat. night. I never even thought to check the screened in room. This room is a second story with nothing under it so they had to climb up the posts.
Betty do you keep Benadryl on hand? It helps with the itchies. I've learned to keep a bottle on hand. It also helps you sleep if need be.
The deer have munched down all the Hosta that grew back after they ate them all in the summer. I don't cut them back come fall. Good thing Hostas are hardy.
LK when I plant flowers I plant some for the animals, some for Mother Nature and some for me. That way I always have a few bloom and flourish. I have actually seen the deer move any protection I have around a plant.
Stay safe and well.
Forgot to add how beautiful Ned and Sophie are. I want to reach right in and give them a hug,

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Always a chair and good friends when you want to chat or need a hug..
Think they move on in the summer as I’ve not seen any destruction but in winter they are eating berries from some trees and apples from flowering crab trees, some goodies there..
Made an iPad cover this afternoon after the girl left and now have Dr.Ho working on shoulders
Several months ago a person on a fabric sale site had a partially done piece for sale. I bought it because 1 the price was dead cheap and 2 it's perfect for a certain Becca I love.
There is a bit of paper piecing and the rest is easy stuff. It only took me about 5 hours to completely finish the quilt. Now I will send it for long arming and then give to Becca for her birthday. I just know she will love it. I cannot believe why the person didn't finish it as it was so close and all the hard stuff was done. You'll have to enlarge it to see how perfect it is for Becca. All the escaped critters are done with paper piecing. Not something for me to do but neat looking. Sorry it looks wonky in places it's the way it was hanging.

Oh Karen it made me smile. What a delightful quilt to give Becca.
Freezing rain storm warning out for tomorrow starting in the afternoon. I'm not sure if Betty is under the warning as it appears to follow the Great Lakes. I'm going out today to pickup my mail and get whatever supplies I think I need. I know the TH need some things as Diesel is very upset with me.
Liz are you still checking in to read ? The TH send you hugs.
My friends who teach in Cairo are thanking their lucky stars as they had just spent 2 years teaching in Wuhan.
Sunny day here so it is times for a walk.
That news virus going around is so bad.
Becca loves bugs and critters. I know she'll love the quilt. It's not bed size, just right to snuggie on the couch size. I'm putting polar fleece on the back for cuddle factor.
Morning all, light snow is falling, no heavy forecast but snow most of this week..countdown is on, soon it will be spring, then I’ll complain about the amount of work spring cleaning is outside, then too hot lol
I absolutely love that throw Karen, not a wonder Becca will love it. I have seen a wall hanging using same design done with jars filled with veggies inside but your is far nicer.
Dianne, did you get the freezing rain? We didn’t but it’s very icy, skating rink all over, everything melt during the day then freezes at night.
I’m on a mission, was in town yesterday and bought a stem floor cleaner, did the upstairs, all feels clean. Broke awhile back the tray that hangs from top shelf of refrigerator so yesterday I bought one of those 3 drawer organizers, fit perfectly so now I’ve not lost space..can house cold meets, cheese etc.
Just finished my 3rd bushel and a peck pillow, have an order for one..used all my painters canvas so before it snows more might get a package so I’ll have something to play with..been working on my St Patrick’s day bench pillow, now sure why I’m not really interested in it but must force myself to do it because Easter is coming 😂
Mom called me this morning, she has been at aunt Muriel’s since Monday..she will come tomorrow afternoon for a bit, would have made supper but I’m out for roger’s Broth 75th birthday at Kelsey’s..not sure why they book dinner for 7:30pm as most of us old folk are ready for bed.
My jar ‘to do’ today is clean the workshop, Drats there is still sawdust from my cutting wood at Christmas for projects..thought came to mind, thInk if I bought 2 brackets I could fit another shelf..I’ve 2 bins for garbage, another trip to the dump tomorrow, had a whole bin filled to the brim with smaller pieces of fabric, maybe I’ll need a little pieces, well if I do I’ll go buy a piece so in the garbage it went..as well a bin full of painting pattern, out it goes as well..have to reorganize somehow all that glass I have that are in that back room drawers, think I’ll start making Christmas presents, those window hangings use up quite a bit.
Well, just finished porridge so back to work then midland here I come
Lots of snow overnight plus we are waiting on the freezing rain to start later this afternoon. It's still snowing so we are in for a doozy if the Weather Liars are correct.
Yesterday I managed to venture out with the TH. We lasted about 1/2 mi before both Diesel and I decided to turn back. It was hard walking. Crusty on the top then I would sink walk way up my calf. Chaos ran around like a fool so expended lots of pent up energy. I need to hit the sheds and find snowshoes.
Karen I have a blanket that has polar freeze and it is so cuddly. I don't let the TH lay down on it as I want to have 1 blanket just for myself..
Stay safe and well.
Watch you don’t fall Karen, with this snow is so dangerous.
We are on a new page, not sure I posted Sophie and Ned I spent time with Monday night, Ned wouldn’t come in for me, he was bad....Greg had supper here last night, he can hardly move his foot, bad knee now hangnail, he was telling me he had quite the time getting Ned in the next day as well, wanted to play..thInk he is missing Mel..she is back from her cruise Saturday night.
Karen, I love that quilt. She will love it for sure.
Parts of Northern Texas had snow yesterday, any where from 1/2 inch to a foot. No snow here, just cold. 36 this morning.
What happened to Gregs leg and foot?
Rain, rain and more rain, with no end in sight. Now schools are closed because of flooded roads and in some cases flooded schools. Knock wood, our basement is dry.
Nasty weather day here plus it is expected to last until Sat. We have a freezing rain warning in effect. It snowed all night and continues to do so. Keiran was here to shovel. He told me the buses didn't run as it was a snow day.
Working slowly on my rug hooking. Pretty hard to do with almost 300 lb of dog laying over your legs. If I move to a chair they lay on my feet.
36 is cold for you right LK?
Deb how are you and your dogs doing? Any shows coming up?
Watched Top Dog on A&E last night. The connection between the handler and the dog is amazing. The TH would look at me with faces saying "You want us to do what?"
Not surprised if the dogs were missing Mel. Over the years I've been told some of my dogs wouldn't eat and had to be put on leashes to go outside. If I was away long enough they would eat but still needed a leash. The dogs would take off in the direction I left. We ended up hiring a dog sitter who stayed in the house while we were gone.
Stay safe and well
Saw photos lindakay of snow in Texas, you must be getting the snow we were to have last night.you need to get more sweaters/jackets on.
Dianne, spoke to a friend in Toronto this morning, they were getting the snow.
You have to really be looking to see the snow fall, sooo glad this has been an easy winter re shovelling.
Aww how nice of Kieran to come over.
I’m smiling, I’m knitting and it’s hard with Ziggy beside me, can’t imagine you and the TH..
If I continue the pace my trunk will be full tomorrow for the dump.
No dog shows coming up here. My girl in Florida will be going to shows there in a little over a week, then a week off, then North Carolina.
I showed one girl here locally almost 2 weeks ago, and my left knee is still hurting. Finally went to the doctor yesterday about it, MRI is scheduled for next Monday, so hopefully we can figure out what the issue is. Last fall, when I first injured it, I was told it was hyper-extended, and just to rest, ice, elevate, and it got marginally better, but the 3 days of shows was just too much.
I put off going to the doctor, because a few years ago she sent me to an orthopedic guy, and he took one look at that MRI, and basically said, you're old, you're fat, you have arthritis, of course your knee hurts. I figured, I'd probably get the same response, except now, I'm older, yet! But, it's bad, and I want to be able to run, so, we'll see if she sends me back to the same orthopedic guy as last time. He did fix my problem then, and, something needs to be done. At least I'm hoping it's fixable!!
In other dog news, I've been contacted by an agency, a woman I know who has worked with them suggested me, they are looking for an Afghan Hound for an ad campaign for cars.com, they're interested in Sissy, my black and tan girl. We're just waiting to see if we get a call back. All she needs to do is sit in the front seat of a car, she's good at doing that!
Deb
Still more rain and the flooding is getting bad. Glad we are on the side of the hill and not the bottom.
Don’t I know what it means to be at the bottom of the hill..
Really snowing, I’ll be shovelling in the morning for sure...just glad I didn’t get Dianne’s freezing rain.
I have to let Ned and Sophie out a few times tomorrow, Greg off to Timmons, quite a tad north of us so best I bring a book as Ned is not fond of coming back inside lol
Already in bed, love this ignite t.v. can turn it on to utube tutorial and watch until I fall asleep.
Yes, 36 or lower is cold for us. This should be the last frost for the year. Mid 70's for this weekend.
Flooding here but forecast is fr snow in the mountains tonight.
Morning all..Lordy LIndakay think we had a couple38f days, thought it was spring but same weather for you wouldn’t be nice..did you lose any plants?
Had to shovel this morning, didn’t seem as cod as some days but end of fingers have no feeling..could be from cold but most likely from my neck issues.
Was too funny, I was in a deep sleep and had craft channel on, woke up to a series of professionals teaching a different was 9f quilt as you go..now to try and remember..might take try a piece if I can remember. Lol
All my plants are dormant. They should all bloom in a few weeks.
Morning all, can you get home from the birthday party last night till after 11 I virtually slept in till seven haven’t done that in ages. No sooner did I put my feet on the floor this morning I got the car started in this bitter cold weather and went and let net and Sophie out, shouldn’t take them long to want to come back in.
Greg had told me that he thought there were treats in the cupboard in which cupboard he thought they might be in, there was a bag yuck of dried sardines for them, hated to touch them but they sure devoured them.
I had a small to do from my jar this morning and got it done then I decided saying I had bought metal framing to put two more shelves in the workshop I get at it but that’s a pretty big job for this little girl anyway I’m taking breaks in between and won’t finish today. Going to start looking what’s at Home Depot or Lowe’s for a frame that my big commercial scroll socket set on it’s just too big on the floor and every time I want to use it I have to try and lift it and it’s just too heavy.
How exciting Linda Kay that you will soon have flowers, I’m really envious. What’s checkpoint Easter is this year usually you start seeing a bit a green room popping out of the ground that’s always the best time of year seeing life back in the Gardens
Well break is over so I better get out it wouldn’t take me much just stay laying on the couch here but no I wouldn’t be happy with myself if I did that.
background, My DDIL Andrea got a job in Wooten (2 hours from here) and has moved there with 3 of the kids, Here youngest daughter Samantha, there was custody battle and courts agreed Sam could move to Wooten AFTER this school year ended. So Sam & my son Adam are still living here in Tri Cities
Short version: Andrea and 2 of the kids, her daughter Sissy & my bio-grandson, Aiden, plus 2 dogs returned to Wooten on Thursday night. They came around a corner and the road was flooded, she gunned it (because she could not stop in time) and still nearly got the car washed away in the flood water. They were in a "dead zone" so could not use cell phone, they spent the night in the car. Ahead of them was mud slide and behind them the flooding. They moved the car to the highest ground they could find, running it off & on for warmth.
The next day ,they assumed someone would notice them missing and send help. When they never saw anyone at 3 PM the hiked out to a cabin, broke in and found a phone that would make emergency call only and called 911.
Adam had been touch with sheriff department who drove in as far as he could but could not get in far enough to find them. Sheriff went back and was arranging for a Humvee when the 911 call came in and they then knew that everybody was safe .
Mean while back in Tri-Cities, Adam has been in touch with Brad (Andrea's Ex #1) he is part of a search & rescue team and had access to truck that is 6 feet off the ground and Adam & Brad prepared to go up and look for them.
Once everybody knew that Andrew & co were safe, warm and had food, all efforts called off until today. I don't have an update yet. If they can't get them out via the truck, a helicopter will be arranged for. DDIL Andrea & Aiden are NOT excited about that thought.
Another day in my life in Paradise.
Omg Pat, my stomach is churning, how frightening it must have been and of course for everyone else..you all will be in a state until you get to hug them all..wow, you sure must have gotten rain.it’s sunny here but bitter cold so I’ll not complain.
Andrea must have had her wits about her to get kids warm, then find shelter but bet tummies need food.
Your life never has a dull moment Pat!!
Thought a hot bath would limber me up, soaking, looking around is not a good thing, was looking at the grout around the tiles so out came Zep, a toothbrush..taking a mini break and 3 more tiles to go
Oh my! Glad to hear that turned out good Pat. They must have been so scared.
Betty, what is zep?
Bathroom cleaner LIndakay, have to make a note to self to do more often..one little stain that is in grout from almost day one stroll there..not sure where I read it, thInk for stains you can use oven cleaner but I would worry it would eat the grout so likely won’t try it.
I’m in bed already
I don't think we have that here. Glad it works for you.
Wow Pat, that was quite an adventure, glad all are safe, Watched mobile homes wash down the river here so floods can be very dangerous.
We ended up with about an inch of snow, all gone again now. Otherwise quiet and dull day.
Ben passed away this evening. The paramedics performed CPR and shock, Epi etc for 30 minutes. Everyone has left now, and I am going to bed. I will start dealing with all this tomorrow.
My DDIL & kids were safely taken out, it will be days before the roads are repaired, who knows if their home is flooded and whether the bridge is still there. But they are all OK.
Pat, my condolences to you and your family. It was a difficult battle for Ben and you..hugs my friend..
Looking at time posted, not but a few hours ago so am hoping you are in a restful sleep. Always mixed feelings when death occurs, family so want to be there to give you support while at times you want breathing space need to FEEL/cry so don’t forget to let them know which are need at any specific time
If you don’t mind my asking Pat, what age was Ben
Thank you for letting us know about Ben and the kids..just soooo much to deal with..

Pat, I am so sorry to hear about Ben. Please know we are sending our deepest condolences and prayers.
Pat my sincerest condolences .
Oh Pat, so very sorry. I know thing were difficult for you but know this was so unexpected. Hugs & love.
Ben just turned 72 a week ago. He had had Quadruple heart bypass about 7 years ago. Those valves have been in a state of increased failure for some time. He refused to alter his eating, and continued to gain weight.
Right now, I'm just dealing with the practical stuff. I have been grieving his death for the last 3 years, ever since he had the brain bleed and brain surgery. I've had time to think about "when...." although there is still so much to think about and do. I know everybody deals with someone dear's death differently and no doubt some will think I am strange. So be it.
He was never afraid of death, he had a strong belief in what comes next. He is out of pain, he will be whole again. All those replacement pieces: knee, shoulders, hip, heart valves, and his missing leg, all restored to whole and perfect. Probably more important to him, his hair! He hated going bald. If there is snow and ski slopes in heaven, he's on them now, flying down the hills, a look of pure bliss! .
Not strange at all Pat..will there be a funeral or will you have a Celebration of Life for Ben later..it seems the way many are doing Celebration of life. My request to my family is to have neither.
Are Ben’s family coming?
Been on the couch several hours, trying to gather energy to have a hot bath and soak a bit.
His 2 older daughters are meeting for lunch, they are conferencing with younger sister about when she can come, she is in Indianapolis with a special needs son, so her schedule etc will be the hardest to control.. I do NOT want a service anytime later than next Monday, this Thursday is my preference. I know it will cause some problems and I'll just have to choose a date and go with it. Other than Emily, his daughters live within 4 hours of us.
Hard to get families together sometimes so do what is best for you, Ben would approve of that. Remember to eat and take care of yourself, lots of rest, even cat naps will help.
Pat I don't think your situation is strange at all. I agree with Betty do what is best for you. No matter what you decide it will not be right for someone. The TH and I are sending you hugs.
Got so frustrated today walking outside I came right in and went directly to Amazon. I bought a new pair of snowshoes. I've been using an ancient pair belonging to a friend. They are heavy and cumbersome. I bought a light weight pair and they are a neon green. The people on snow machines can't say they didn't see me. How can you not see 300 lb of black and tan dogs?
Going to bed early tonight so I hope I sleep well. I see my Neuro Opthamologist tomorrow. He has seen me since I had that pit tumour.. Hopefully he can get this left eye figured out.
Yesterday there was a delightful sight on the lake. A group of friends or families had a party out there. They had a BBQ, played games and yes they did fish. The best part for me was to see the kids actually playing and not on any device
Stay safe and well
pat,
so sorry sending condolences for you and your family.
