Well girls, I won’t be long in posting, not because of surgery pain but ....
Sharon drove me, was over 2 hour wait (lots of fainters doc said.. got into my room, gown own, attendant ready and the surgeon, young woman walks in, we talk, she examines me, looks at paperwork’s, examines me again..I wince to the touch, she does it several times then says the pain I am experiences is not due to lipomas resting near the nerves, yes they are nearby but not causing pain, minding their own business and that I can have them removed but could create another problem so after talking a bit home I came, upset, in pain and don’t know what to do with myself.
Called Jeff to give him my report, told me I should get some cod oils or gummy bears, something to ease the pain vs 4 Tylenol 3’s or Tylenol 4’s in the offing. Spoke with Linda and she said new place opened in Barrie so might go on the weekend, at this point I will try anything.
Stopped at Walmart and bought another Dr.Ho (tensor machine) as I think I took mine with me on vacation this summer and have never found it...big sigh
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Always a chair and good friends when you want to chat or need a hug..
She couldn't determine what was causing the pain? Did she offer you any options to resolve it? How frustrating!
Oh Betty. So sorry to hear that. What were the complications? I think I would have done the surgery anyways. Praying you get some relief soon.
So sorry to hear, Betty. You must be beyond frustrated.
Gentle Hugs, Carol
Frustrated for sure..
At 5 I thought I’d make myself comfy in bed, electronically I can set the bed to ease discomfort..was just locking the door and there was Greg. He came in, gabbed about the day and I got the riot act..#1 I did not call Jeff or he that I was going to have surgery on shoulder... #2 the minute I feel good enough I’m doing everything but rest before he got to #3 I asked him if his supper was ready, that he had best get going or it would be cold..both had a laugh at that.
Oh Betty I am so sorry you have been left in such a state. I'd be ringing some bells tomorrow to get info. Exactly who was the female who told you the latest info?
I was once left in Day Surgery when I was to have a knee replacement. They forgot to tell me the proper part did not come in. Grrrr!
Oh Betty, how disappointing. I came on tonight hoping to hear you were home and feeling ever so much better. I too think you need to ream out the Dr. and tell him to get to the bottom of what's going on with you.
yep Sharon taking her per Betty's post.
How are you feeling today Betty?
Called for a message to see if it will somewhat ease the shoulder muscle..I attached the dr. Ho tense machine to my shoulder and the unit to the belt , running it for 20 minutes every hour..see if that helps
Going to make a list for groceries and project supplies as they are calling for bad weather all weekend..if I do get it today will in the morning..
I had that bench pillow mapped out, this morning I machine embroidered a gnome on it, not to my liking..
Ben has had diarrhea for several days and they have run labs & he needs to give stool sample, they are ruling out C-dif. https://www.cdc.gov/cdiff/what-is.html I had to practically hit the nurse over the head before he would admit that is what they were testing for. He does admit they have had several residents test positive and some tested negative with diarrhea. I am not happy.
I really had hoped to take tomorrow off work but it's not going to happen. I have a level 3 sex offender that has a strong lead on housing that I have to jump on & help with the paperwork. Also a client that desperately needed placement in Memory Care unit. For that to happen there is a boat-load of paperwork to complete for a program that I am not familiar with.
Ben didn't pay the medical insurance in spite of telling me he had. I got the cancelation notice yesterday and took everything with me to handle it.
If I don't die of stress by the end of the year it will be a freaking miracle.
Betty - that's horrible that just as you're about to go into surgery that they call it off!!!!!!! Yes, what would be the complications and was this woman the specialist or surgeon?
As for my pipes freezing - we have the outside pipes wrapped with heat tape. It's the pipes between the walls that freeze. Oh, and we've tried the "leave taps dripping a little bit" and that doesn't help either. When they moved our place, they were so rough on it and the insulation settled. Bob's now talking about having to rip off the new siding & insulation, and cutting into the original wall to re-insulate the area. This is going to take a LOT of work on Bob's part........
Oh yeah, and our den is pulling away from the main part of our mobile home...... I can put my hand in-between the walls - lots of insulation there though! We certainly can't pay for a contractor to do the work. More work for poor Bob........
Betty, do you have a photo of the pillow with the gnome?
Oh Pat, sorry to hear about all your problems. Sounds like you need to take over paying the bills. I know it is an extra job, but might save headaches knowing bills will be paid.
Morning all, what’s the weather like in your neck of the woods,... not snowing her yet but the sky is heavy,
Lordy Lordy Pat, just when things start getting o bit on an even plane that something else comes up...with all the virus going around could Ben not have caught it! Here is hoping it just might run it’s course over next few days, he is suppose to be discharged soon isn’t he? That might put him back a little... Wow that one case I’m sure is difficult to place.
Susan, I’m shaking my head, poor Bob as well..these winters are hard , structures get their aches and pains as well.will bob be able to wait til spring before doing this work?
LIndakay it the valentines day bench pillow I was using scraps to make..Greg is picking up the St Patrick’s bench pillow pattern when next he is near the fabric store..I ordered it and it’s just in. Know I have spring,Canada day, fall, Halloween, forget if I’ve got christmas..I have winter, needs to be done,l
Sharon and Brian came yesterday and he put new light fixture in laundry room and Sharon just bought a beautiful light fixture for her hallway, didn’t like it so bought another, she brought it here needs to have a piece of metal cut,way too long for my entrance, hoping when Greg sees it he says it can be done.
Yes, I told Ben last night I will take over the bills. The constant stress of dealing with his carelessness etc just isn't worth it. Easier on me to just do it myself.
Yes, the virus is something that is highly contagious and frequently caught in SNF or hospitals.
Hope he didn't put up a fuss Pat..
Sharon is com8ng over, wants to 0lay with quilter before she buys..told her,for an hour or so, painingmso I’ll just have to tell her when I’ve had enough..
Already bathed, in p.j.’s, had late lunch so no supper
Ooh she is here
Sharon loved quilting on the frame, am sure she will have one shortly, took to it like a pro.. she brought me a gift from her ex (still great friends after 30+ Years) a ruler holder had one that held but 6 rulers, this one holds so many more..love it.
Greg picked up the St.Patricks bench pillow for me, dropped in and helped me lift the filler ruler holder on the shelf..best part is I dusted the shelf and all that is on it.
My goal tomorrow is finish dusting and organizing the craft room shelves, Sunday hall closet lol
Just took Mr.Froggy out of microwave, Lordy he feels good on my neck.
That's how I store my rulers and templates too. Hubby made them for me several years ago.
Betty, I love that valentine's pillow. That gnome is very pretty.
Morning, pouring rain, as temps drop there is sure to be snow.
Was up just after 5, got hallway closet cleaned and stove, finishing my coffee then downstairs I go.
Originally plans were that Suzanne would come around 7 to sew for a few hours, haven’t heard from her but not 7 yet. Lol
Linda was coming as well to do her pillows, doubtful because she is 45 minutes south of me and they are calling for freezing rain.
My plan though is to clean craft room then sew a bit
Karen the ruler holder does help tremendously, I will use what was holding them for my embroidery machine frames and the other ruler organizer for various different rulers.
I just know if I sit much longer I’ll be here all day, especially as the blanket I’m knitt8ng is getting wider and I can cuddle into it..
What kind of weather are you having and what are you up to today?
52 right now, 65 for our high today. Not bad for January.
No plans, other than getting groceries.
Cloudy and cold. Done with winter but maybe in another month.....
Hoping to finish or nearly so the place mats to match table runner. They aren't hard but take a lot of time. I'll be glad when they are done.
Expected high 50 and raining lightly. Moist dark weather is never good for me, I don't like the cold, but if it's sunny, that is better than overcast for me.
I went to work Friday, in spite of planning to take the day off. 2 of my clients were in the middle of possible placement, both very difficult placements. The blind, level 3 sex offender, with schizophrenia, decided he didn't want the placement that the state spend 100s of dollars finding for him. (I am sure it was too confining, expected him to be drug free with random drug tests...) I did get my part of the other crisis client's needs taken care of, so it was not a total waste of a work day. Now wait and see if the committee approves my recommendation for special program to give support to a facility for his behavioral issues. Without that, no placement...
Left work early, got to the SNF and Ben had a puddle of diarrhea under his wheelchair, I rang for assistance. I handed him the drink and chicken I bought him and walked out. He is still scheduled for discharge on Monday, I don't know how this diarrhea mess is going to impact that.
When we talked by phone later, Ben claims the aides did not take a stool sample, they certainly had plenty to select from... If the diarrhea is not resolved, and they have not even submitted a stool sample to be processed by the lab, I am not sure if I will agree to take him home Monday. THAT would devastate Ben. We are just NOT equipped to handle him with diarrhea and, if it is C-dif, it's highly contagious! I don't think that would be fair to our caregivers at home.
Not going to dwell on it. I am going to work on picking up and cleaning up in the house, visit Ben and strive to enjoy my weekend. Soon it will be spring. All the vehicles that are currently blocking my view will have been moved and my flowers will cheer me up.
Rained most of the morning, then big fluffy snowflakes and now it’s undecided as to rain or snow again.
I was very ambitious this morning, although I worked for a few hours in craft room I’m still a long way from finishing, of course coming upstairs to fry bacon and have BLT hasn’t helped s I can feel my eyes get heavy, going to fight it though as I did a bit of quilting on the Valentine’s,day piece, another hour and,it would be done..while I cleaned I set three embroidery machine on and did 2 golf towels, thInk there is one more hand towel waiting to be done. I just got to ask, I cleaned hallway closet and I have about 4 pairs oven mitts, about 25 t-towels in that closet alone and about same for face towels..how about you guys??? Do we need that many?? going to throw them in a bag and use them as rags
Last weekend I did oven and top of stove, this morning I did bottom drawer..never or rarely use what is in it so washed all and got one of those air bags you put clothing in,set it in drawer, filled it up with glass cookware and zipped it up...I worry mice might has skipped over them, this way nice and clean.
Pat your, life is never dull, I know one has to do what one has to do and I’ve never been in that position but wonder if I could do the cleaning up after BEN, I Doubt it, I respect you and all others who can for being able to! Do you have to disclose to the area you look to find accommodations for the sex offender that he will be moving in..know we do in most cases.
Karen hope you get them done...sitting on cutting area is a blue/white runner that I need to make placemats for, I keep setting the project aside..best I get at it..they are for Darlene.
Everybody’s weather seems to be within normal temps for this time of year, that’s great
Let’s see how this goes, up and at it..
Oh yes, register with police etc etc. This was special housing for sex offenders and therefore LOTS of regulations and restrictions. No doubt, THAT is what the client objected to. He wanted to have housing with no strings attached.
I had a quick satisfying hour. Hired the 2 neighbor boys, they put an overhead light back up, took stuff out to the barn, hauled the recycling out, emptied the cases of protein out of my car, moved exercise bike out to barn and new dresser into bedroom, and assembled 3 new floor lamps.. $30 total, well spent! I could have done most it myself but not in the 2 man-hours they did it in! Yep, these boys know how to WORK!
Awww... now, back to my DDIL's mending. The granddaughter also wanted me to do her mending, I said" NO, I will show YOU how! " I won't be around forever to do the family mending, they all need to learn how.
Did get the place mats finished. Not too crazy about them. They are made with 2 1/2" strips in the same manner as a jelly roll rug, except in rows not oval. I was careful to switch ends while sewing and they are still a bit wonky. Oh well will do for everyday use I guess. A lot of time to be unhappy with them.
Onward and upward. Need to make some prep pieces for retreat, then QOV National Sew Day next Sat.
Morning all, so far so good, not snowing or raining and feels mild, even Ziggy doesn’t want to come back in..
Karen, so upsetting when we’ve something in mind, put mega time into it and you are displeased..am sure the are lovely, photo please.
Pat I’m not fond of mending, so far so good, only asked to hem pants or fix a rip the odd time. I wish I had a couple of young men in my neighbourhood to help with odd jobs..lucky you.
I’ve been up since 5, could have been 4 but I talked myself into staying 8n bed, dozed off and had a terrible dream, that did me in so up and at it..cooked 2 pie shells, waiting for them to cool then will do lemon filling..I’ll enjoy one and bring 2nd one to girls at the office tomorrow.
In the meantime I’m playing downstairs, had that red and white insert, little bit of red white fabric in a container so will add scraps, quickly quilt, just want to get rid of the fabric
Time for another coffee
Unfortunately my family thinks I am a miracle worker and can resurrect any of their abused and worn out clothes. Or worse, alter something!
No altering for me, found out when my aunt wanted me to help at busy season at Jacobson's. I do NOT like alterations. Most mending is OK, not crazy about replacing zippers.

I had a friend from work years ago, ask me if I could take in a dress jacket. She had lost a lot of weight, and needed a size 20 jacket taken to be a size 10. I tried to tell her it was not possible. She got really mad. I told her to take it to someone else. She ended up buying new clothes.
Morning all
Called for snow today but now it’s saying overcast and sun and clouds for the next three days So that is good news for us.
Jeff coming home today from Mt.Tremblanc in Quebec, said best ever in all the years he and friends make their yearly trip.
I have accomplished so much this weekend..I’ve got all caught up in cleaning since fall when I have trouble with shoulders..sat down last night and did my cleaning maintenance upkeep jar for February so now I can spend time playing..
I got another 6” done on my throw..I like clean cut look, not so sure I’ll leave it on the couch..crazy lady.
You have been busy. Ziggy sure looks comfy.
Have you called your Dr. and ask about why surgery was called off? Other alternatives?
WOW... your coworker was seriously delusional to think you were going to alter a jacket from 20 to 10! I wonder sometimes, if you ASKED your friend, "Hey, how about you clean my house for me" if they would stammer and sputter.... I mean, they are ASKING you to work for them? Do they think it's different because YOU have a skill they don't possess? I don't do zippers either for mend jobs. THAT said, I probably will replace zipper in son's VERY expensive hunting jacket. I haven't seen it yet, if I'm lucky it's just come unstitched partially and not need replacement. He can not afford to have someone else do and it won't have to be picture perfect for him to be satisfied.
I have actually traded work before, mending for carpentry, and house cleaning for sewing project. I didn't have time to help without getting help in housework, worked for both of us.
I do not know what I would do without my sweet neighbor boys. It's a good deal for all of us. Where else can an 11 YO get paid $10 to $15 for an hour of work?
Is indeed a good wage for an $11 year old but well worth it for you..
Only time I bartered was decades ago when a waterfront hotel opened on the bay, I knew owners, they wanted plaques for the doors with room numbers on them..did roses and leaves..I told them it was time consuming and they didn’t care so bartered for meals in their fancy dining room, I ate well for many a meal. Lol
The other when I think of it really wasn’t bartering, Andrew when he did my fence had run into mega problems re rock, broken drill bits, far more work than he had thought, thInk it nearly took 2 weeks when he quoted just over one..he wouldn’t take more $$ so I gave him a queen size quilt..but yes, we should get back to good old fashion bartering.
I don’t see doctor LIndakay until feb 10th, had hoped last weekend he would have done house call, maybe next weekend.
WOW that is BIG and RED!!
Karen I love Hibiscus and that red one is a beauty. Wow!!
I will be so glad to see that tail end of January. It has been a long not so great month for me. Wiarton Willie and I will be ready on Feb 2. Spring better be in his shadow.
Decided today to start a latch hook rug that I have here. It is of wolves in moonlight. I am having trouble with my eyesight and coordination but will keep going only a little slower than I usually go. I am kicking myself as I have somehow misplaced/lost a latch hook that is used with knitting machines. I've had it for years as I needed it to complete a huge rug sort of Dresden skaters on a pond surrounded by interesting buildings. I gave away the piece as a wall hanging as a gift and now I wished I hadn't.
Betty you are a head of the clock. Good for you. I hope you get to see that doc of yours this week.
Wow LK I was taken aback by a former worker who was asking you cut down a size 20 to a size 10 jacket. She might as well just buy a new jacket. I bet she has no idea how much work is involved.
Well I need to see Jimmy Kimmel he has a live cow on stage with him. Chaos is mesmerized.
Stay safe and well everyone.
Dianne - would love to see your latch hook rug, in progress - the wolves in the moonlight sounds really nice.
I'm busy knitting again.
Morning, yes still morning..I’m sitting on couch, just finished hand stitching the Valentine’s Day throw..being quiet.
Yesterday was a ‘cry’ day, was in so much pain I didn’t know what to do with myself..
Someone gave me some CBD capsules, Lordy they are hard to get down.. I took my first last night, 2nd this morning..don’t see a difference, but Lordy it’s only been 2 pills. Yes I called doctors office, demanded an mri, didn’t get any closer to getting one, said a few more loops to go through before mri..my appt is feb 10th, on waiting list so we will see....I’m a tad calmer today, maybe that is what cbd does lol
Dianne when you say knitting machine hooks can you explain? I have 3 different size machines and extra needles for them, if it’s what I’m thinking they are I could send you one when next in town..likely tmr.
Linda was suppose to be here but Sunday night she and Dave were at the neighbours, before night was out her neighbour started to break out, yep, shingles so as she was near her neighbour Dianne she is afraid she might bring it to me so maybe she will come this weekend.
Beautiful beautiful hibiscus Karen.
Susan, you are always on the go,take time to rest
Lunch hour so I will go make something then relax for the day
Praying Linda doesn't get them. I have heard they are so painful.
It will be on the cool side today. High temperatures will be 55. I can't complain. Not bad for January temps.
