She said she charged $35.00 per hour. If you done longarm services, it could pay for your trips to the states for shopping.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Always a chair and good friends when you want to chat or need a hug..
Well I am not complaining but the freezing rain so far today has missed me although they do say the rain could change to ice as the temps drop today.
This is a use the chairlift kind of day..body does not like this damp cold weather.
Mom called me this morning from aunt Muriel’s chatted a bit, Sharon called to say mom called her and ask if she could drop in for coffee, wants to talk to her about something so Sharon is a little nervous as she knows her visits always end up in arguments.
LIndakay, wish I was younger I’d surely take on such a home business and one I enjoy.
This morning seeing as I couldn’t find a bench pillow pattern yesterday I went online and found a photo so sat and sketched out the wording, will have to do..put on a stew, smelling yummy...at the point of do I go downstairs and iron steam a seam to Red fabric so I have something to sit and cut or do I just lay here and do nothing??
So how is your day?
50 today, but the north wind is making it feel like 30. We are about to go out for lunch, do some grocery shopping, them home home for the day.
All that snow has melted, rained heavy most of the day, I’m a bottom of hill
With ice storm moves in and power was to shut down I’m in mega trouble
Paining so took my pain meds and sleeping pill before I realized that I should be up all night monitoring the system
Praying the rain stops and that you don't lose power.
Boy, that would be a stressful worry.
Morning..been a long night, temps dropped, bit of freezing rain then snow..I’m at a minute and 20 seconds now..still not good but at least if something happens I can f8nd help to get generator on. It’s the pumps I worry about not being able to keep up. Tomorrow I’ll call the company who installed the new type as I need to know, if my pumps can’t keep up and the municipal water grabber works could I unplug it to see if it could keep up?
Was just going to get up and have a hot bath when a warning came on, an incident at Pickering nuclear plant..they seem to have under control. Rushed for my camera, not good ohoto
Oh my goodness. That is scary. Wonder what happened?
This is all I can find in the news. Not much.
https://globalnews.ca/news/6400665/pickering-nuclear-generating-station-emergency-alert/
Wow... somebody is gonna get in mega trouble for that "little blunder". Sending out a warning in error is not cool.
Betty, I saw that alert too and then it had a RETRACTION i t was sent in error about 15 minutes after. I know it scared the dickens out of some.
Was in 50s last 2 days here and 3 days rain, today it has dropped big time and snow mixed with rain. The winds are gusting about 40mph after rough night with them.
Yes, saw the retraction and yes somebody is going to to be held accountable.
Although I had great plans for the day I did nothing, well nearly nothing. Mom ended up coming and spending a few hours while Wanneta groomed her Bella, I shared my stew and blueberry pie, filled containers for her and Aunt Muriel and she left happy.
She no sooner left an old friend called and we chatted for about an hour, something I rarely do and there went the day.
I felt bad today, mom’s almost running around in house at 88 I’m holding onto the furniture to walk...shaking my head
Looked like it was going to snow this morning, got shovelled out thinking I’d have to go out again but thankfully not.
Just as I shut lights out I could see it’s starting up again, who knows what the nights will bring...
Just timed the sump pump, 3 minutes and 22 seconds..I’ll not take sleeping pill tonight so I can better monitor the situation.
Did any if you have a day without having to wear boots and a coat??
Must be sleep time, Ziggy just climbed into bed and nestled in wanting his nightly rub
Gab 8n a.m.
Certainly needed coat but a little of rain, only enough to put wipers on "intermittent".
I'm headed out to get pizza and deliver dinner to Ben. He has been craving pizza and making noises about having it delivered to him. I asked him to hold off & I would do that today for him.
I've been wondering if we were going to have another winter like last year. We THOUGHT it was over and THAT's when it snowed and snowed for weeks! It could still happen, it's been so mild, I'm afraid to hope for it to continue!
I sewed up a bunch of doll pants, they are ready to have the elastic put in waist. I'll do that while visiting with Ben.
Betty, that was horrible for them to say, ooops!
We don't own boots or coats. Our coolest temps will get to about 28 at the lowest. I will just wear long sleeves and a sweater.
Big storms yesterday and through the night. Today was calm but a bit cooler, around 60.
We picked up Molly's prescriptions today at pharmacy. Pharmacist was very apologetic at the cost. He looked for the best deals he could find. I was getting nervous about what it was going to be and was relieved when it was under $40 for 3 prescriptions. He had found deals for us and saved us over $100.
So now we start and see how long we can keep our girl going. I will not let her suffer but I was up most of the night worrying about losing her.
You know when you take on a pet that it's just temporary and especially with a big dog, but you do it anyhow. I am hoping I stay strong for her.

What breed is Molly, Karen?
Heart goes out to you Karen, Molly, bet she is your sidekick and oh how you will miss her but for now you get to give her extra love,,still miss Miss Sailor, moften I’ll get out of bed watching I don’t step over her. Had been thinking maybe Ziggy would like a companion, another kitty but Ziggy doesn’t get along with neighbouring cats so maybe not a good idea,,,
Lindakay how I would love to just grab a sweater and walk out..I think of going out and there is pre starting the car then coat, boots, gloves and hat...grrr
Pat, do they not have a regulated diet for Ben that a pizza would be a no no?
Was taking of trying to fit all my chairs in the car and take a trip to the dump..not that I’m procrastinating, been more the weather but want them gone.
Are you all feeling something is up with Mother Nature??
We are mid January and really hasn’t been bad, few weeks around Christmas mild as canbe..poor skiers and snowmobilers, my boys aren’t happy. Kyle isn’t even grooming trails yet.
As I am typing I’ve made the choice that as it’s a crisp day, I’ll get myself dressed and see if I can get the chairs in the car, sometimes I think my next vehicle should be bigger..
Mr. froggie in micro is telling me it’s ready and I haven’t had my first cup of coffee yet...first things first, coffe andcereal
Enjoy your day
Betty, put the chairs on the curb. Maybe someone will pick them up
Molly's dam was a golden and her sire was was black lab. She solid black but with the long silky hair of a golden. Also they were both around 40 lbs and she was the runt so we figured she'd be smallish.....Wrong. She's double their size. A more gentle dog you could never find. She loved the lake and swimming with the kids.
This is her just after we moved here. Now she very swollen and lumpy from fatty tumors.
Sending positive thoughts for you and Molly Karen. I am so glad you were able to find some meds that did not break the bank. Ana was a diabetic and needed 38 units of insulin daily. My GP took the time to find a human insulin that was the equivalent of what Ana was taking. He saved us mega dollars. Molly is gorgeous !!
It rained, freezing rain, snow and that all over again. The steps are coated in ice. I will use salt that is dog friendly on the steps.Heard the plows across the lake on the Queen's highway (#38) and I imagine the main township roads are done too.
Betty I was wondering about your sump pump. I live high on a hill. When we were building I insisted a sump pump be put it. The builder and Warren shook their heads saying we don't need it. I was like 'well yes but you weren't home when the basement in the farm house had water up to the second steps.'
LK I have some friends going to Texas for the winter. They have tried Florida and Arizona. They packed some winter clothes.
The TH have a longing look in their eyes but there are not going for a walk.
Stay safe and well
Yep, Betty, to the curb!! I know I've been wanting some kitchen chairs to cut the seat out and put suspended pots in them. I have ONE ice cream parlor chair still but all the others I left back in Boise. They are soooo cute!!
How does Ziggy get along with dogs? I just think the Maine Coon cats are not the most social of animals with other cats. My oldest son has 2.
Sharon (?) you were lucky to have such a kind and considerate MD to have helped you in that way. Meds are so expensive.
Ben is NOT being on a special diet but is getting what the general public gets at the SNF. The problem is that he has his debit card and some cash with him. He knows how to order in pizza. I walked in with the medium pizza to share and could have screamed at him. He ordered pizza in after dinner, last night after I left. Of course he couldn't eat it all, doesn't have access to a frig so THAT was an expensive after dinner snack!!! Not to mention the calories.
I just have to give it up and let it go. NOTHING I can do about it. I can't control his spending or his eating.
Dianne, it depends on what part of Texas. Northern part does get cold and snow. Down here, we drop to maybe 28 a few times a year, but that same afternoon, it will be 60 to 70 degrees. Hardly anyone here owns a coat or boots.
Pat, anyway for you to talk to the Dr. about his diet restrictions?
It will NOT do any good. We can all talk until we BLUE in the face, but unless he WANTS to do something different, we are wasting our breath. Part of that is plain old stubbornness but another part is his brain injury. He has never fully recovered from the brain surgery from 2 years ago.
Honestly, if you could get a truthful answer out of him, he would tell you he would rather eat what he wants, when he wants than to live healthy and longer. There is NO doubt in my mind.
That is difficult to contend with Pat, guess one has to let him choose his own path, eat whatever he wants and live (or not) with consequences.
Chairs went to dump, guess they somewhat recycle wood, the fee was $1.OO to drop them off.now they are out of spare room..yes Pat I had contemplated keeping one to do the flower project but they were a tad to ornate for that.
Picked up supper although I still have stew, enjoying this not having to cook.
Omg I didn’t have knitting needles with long enough wire, bought the kind you unscrew and put different size ends on it and spent $31.20..need my head examined...was tired of pushing bedspread as I was knitting because the wire was only 21”.
As for Ziggy, maybe it’s me thinking he wants a friend when all he wants is being on his own.
Dianne and Karen, never thought about getting human meds for my furries, guess you need a good vet to go as far as researching.
Dianne, sounds like it’s as icy there as it is here. When I went to canadian tire I bought a can of spray for ice on the windshield, now I know I bought a new can in the spring, didn’t look for it this morning and ice was inches thick, won’t hurt to have another.
So it will be an early evening, maybe hot bath to loosen up the old bones then try those new needles..I’ve 7 large skeins waiting to be opened and knit.
Can't wait to see what you are knitting Betty.
Did a few rows..heavy, new needles work better but a tad larger than what I was using, oh well I’ll use the new ones, it’s just a throw for living room, it will be cozy.
Started to do something out there, partly snow, freezing rain, rain, I just crawled into bed so it will be a surprise as to what I find in the morning.
Are any of you much like myself, taking forever to recoup from Christmas, tired and no energy to get into doing anything.
SHARON just called me, Inuk jumped off the couch when he heard someone at door, can’t stand on his leg so off to barrie vet she was going.
Before I doze off I must see if there is any news re darlene’s Nephew wife, the baby was stillborn at 14 weeks, they were hoping to not have to take the child from mom but she started to run a high fever so they did..doing autopsy to see what cause was..both rob and his wife Tammy are mentally challenged, would have been quite an undertaking for them although his mom sue would of cherished a child..this afternoon Tammy was in intensive care..best I try and find out!
I think a lot of us are dragging after the holidays. You are not alone.
Sorry to hear about the baby. Sending prayers for the family.
I'm just starting to feel over the holiday tired. Went to sewing room to start a table runner. Have it ready to sew tomorrow. Making it like the 2 1/2" strip rugs only in a line. One strip to a row. The way it's folded, it will be 4 layers of batting so good protection from hot dishes.
The doctor seemed to let my poor sister go forever, after they KNEW the baby had died. I finally called the MD and told him that my sister was a basket case, the last 2 children were C-section, she was not expelling the baby on her own, GET THIS BABY OUT! Losing any baby is heart breaking.
At work we were talking about that it was hard to get back in the groove after the holidays. Don't want to be a work & just "off". We have an audit coming in the next couple of weeks. Those are always stressful. I was only pulled for ONE client this go around.
21 F out this morning and it started to snow while Marie & I were out having lunch with the caregiver class mates. IT snowed HARD! I went directly home afterwards and went by 3 different accidents.
Morning all, no snow or freezing rain last night, I brought garbage to roadside at 6 and it was hardened snow.not sure what they are forecasting for today, overall it’s been a good winter..already mid January so hurrah..
Didn’t get update from Darlene yet this morning..will have to send her a message or call once the girls leave,
Not sure what the girls are working on but I machine embroidered 2 of the 5 pillows I was asked to make this morning, did one the other day so tonight I will put another on the machine then it’s just the 6” kitty pillow to make for Oliver’s kitty bed lol
Bones are a hurting but I will survive.
Glad it is not just me slowly recovering..I’m not down in the dumps I just don’t have my get up and go,
Pat great news the auditor just wants to look at one file, do you pick the file?
Karen do you not use the insulation batting for anything you will put heat on..I usually use a layer of reg batting and one of the insulation..
Karen I did some changes in the size of the holder and bought some really nice corduroy..made one this morning and am pleased.
Best I go make coffee for the girls
Dishes will not be that hot at the table. The way these are made, no way to add other batting. Plus the way things work out there will be some extra 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 pads after matching placemats are made.
This is the tutorial I used. A strip is about 42" so that is the length of the table runner. Two jelly rolls will make a runner and 6 placemats plus 4-6 pads.

Auditors choose the file and which case managers they are pulling from. New hires get a whole year pass, no files pulled. that gives them a year to learn the ropes before being dinged for mistakes.
I can't get warm. Guess heat pump isn't keeping up I best turn up the ceiling heat, that is the back up heat when it's too cold outside for the heat pump to work well.
Hi - popping in for a minute. Since Jan 2 I've hit the ground running with a meeting at our church, then the meeting with Wellness Society (secretary/treasurer), then another meeting (Financial - also Wellness Society) on the 9th, and in between trying to do all the regular things. A Red Hatter sister had asked me to make her a black tam, about 5 months ago, and I forgot. I saw her at Sunday service at the Lodge & she asked where her tam was........ ok, I'm knitting it now - black velvet. it's pretty easy once you get going 😎
Take care everyone - Betty keep warm & dry
Dianne - thanks for asking - We're doing fine. Pipes freeze every morning -35c right now. Yes, it's COLD. Even our Tuesday Social Group only had the 3 of us - Pat, Joan & I. I had to have Joan sign some papers for our Tuesday Group room lease agreement. I'm going to talk to them about the COLD room. The rest of the building is warm enough, but NOT our craft/library room. We all have to wear heavy sweaters or coats. brrrrrr I brought a couple of sweaters - my hands were like ice!
Otherwise things are fine for us.

Morning all, cold but no shovelling this morning, with mildness of yesterday I’m sure I have to throw a lot of melter on the steps or I’ll be falling but that is an easy fix..
Think snow is in the forecast for later today but not huge accumulation.
Pat,let’s hope all ok with files and you get a raving review..that is quite interesting them giving newbies a chance to learn the ropes but I’m of the mindset that if files were checked at the beginning would that create less errors..likely there is a supervisor that does that ongoing right? big smile, likely you
Susan, heat or lack of is probably what keeps seniors from coming..what they need is head and the comfort knowing you will be there to help them out. Years ago when I was recreation coordinator for township of Georgian bay all rooms that provided senior activity were free, not sure about now..even library rooms seeing the library was under auspices of the township..have you seen a difference in weather this winter??
Made another iPad holder, changed method of doing it and it made it a little easier in final sewing..will look for a mid size tote so I can throw them in until they find a home..
Sipping coffee, yikes ate 2 donuts and now I’m off to work on valentines bench pillow, seems I’m regaining some of my get up and go.
Ziggy wanted out this morning so let him out now I’m sitting on couch waiting to let him in, he is nowhere about..know what happens when I sit too long, it’s the end of my energy zap
I got to the SNF and Ben had had an accident, both bowel and bladder. I exited it. I was not going to hang around long enough for staff to clean that up before we could visit.
Nope, not going to get stellar review/audit. The forms I completed and sent for scanning have NOT shown up in the system. I will get a ding in spite of having had them signed, properly noted in narrative etc. They are missing. MY ding. Oh well.
Yes, the newbies have ALL assessments checked by a supervisor for the first few months. I have NOTHING to do with that. I informally help, same as others, when a newbie has questions and a supervisor isn't available. Or, they just want to bounce an idea, or let off steam, they know they can come to our office. Jackie and I are both experienced and willing to help. All of us get at least 3 complete audits done by our supervisor during the year, in addition to the state audit.
Cold and snowy here. I was really hoping we might get lucky and be done with winter. NOT so... oh well!
I am getting doll clothes cut out on my breaks at work, a little sewing here at home at night. My son took pity on me tonight and is cooking the steak I asked him to marinate. ACTUALLY, he is cooking it because he has experience with the air cooker and I don't. He doesn't want HIS food ruined! LOL
I spoke to someone at the Ag Society about how cold it was in the library - Bob said maybe one of the registers is closed. Felt very productive today, too. Being the Secretary/Treasure for Wellness Society, an ad hoc secretary tomorrow, I had phone calls to make, etc. Feels good.
Just wish the weather would get nicer, faster. Our pipes have been freezing every morning. -38c is pretty cold, but will be -3 on Monday, thank goodness. Chinook weather!
Susan, can't you wrap your pipes so they don't freeze? Hardware store sells something like a pool noodle, but smaller for pipes.
That is pretty cold Susan, could you not leave the tap dripping which would eliminate the freezing? Know how frustrating it much be seeing I worry about sump pump and flooding...I’m about 10 minute pumping, as it get colder then I’ll be more at ease.
So love knitting on my blanket, its quite heavy and keeping me warm and toasty, so glad I ordered all those balls of wool, no worry I won’t have enough, like have too many but I could return them I think even though I ordered online.
Can you believe tomorrow we are back to the weekend, where did the week go?
My to do tomorrow is clean kitchen cupboards and throw away what has expired then I can see what I need..Sunday I’ve marked off morning to do under the sink.
Linda will try and come Saturday to do her pillows, factory direct had gel coiled cushions on sale, she was going to take a run for me and buy one, if they work I’ll order a few more, anything to help my bones
Let us know how you like those cushions.
linda picked one up for me, I checked first to make sure they weren’t like the sewing ones they sell, I paid mega $$ for one and can’t use it,makes you so tippy when sitting.
Been knitting while watching CNN, can feel my head get heavy..lol
Likely did about 2”, keep looking at the clock, won’t be a late night.
