Not for sure what a golf puppet is. Post a photo after Christmas please?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends,old & new, come sit a spell!!
Yikes..that is expensive for some puppets! Will be interesting to see them.
Ah, the are covers for the golf club. I am sure they will enjoy them, but I agree, that seems pricey.
No Linda, puppets. Betty posted about them Nov 15th:
Greg came over last night, don’t you know your kids, he sat down and I asked what I could do for him, nothing, just thought he’d visit mom, that when on for about 1/2 hr then he asks what was I thinking of doing for Jeff’s 50? Then he says he found the most absolute gift for Jeff, a puppeteer in Florida makes a golf iron puppet that looks exactly like the person in the photo they work from..$300 + tax + shipping US, thought maybe if we both went in on it Jeff would be thrilled..said I would, he said he would investigate today and maybe we would order it today, jeff’s Birthday is dec 8th, they say 3 weeks but Greg will phone to see if it can be done for 8th. Knew something was up..
Shy of a few $$$ the puppets are $500 Canadian..us exchange is so high. Won’t be bad if the look like the boys, have to wait and see.
Went to Barrie with Sharon, can you believe I was looking for a Xmas tree for outdooors, something cheap, saw one but then decided I really don’t need one and now I’m sorry I didnt buy one.
Got the living room tree done, going to tidy living room, have hot bath, have a nice bowl of stew and likely by then it will be bedtime.
Liz how is the snowman hat coming along?
going to work on it tomorrow , I am off work so I can concentrate lol
We have some BEAUTIFUL Christmas trees at the thrift stores for CHEAP. I tell myself that I have ONE beautiful tree and do not need more.... Once upon a time, Christmas of 2004 I think, I had 5 trees up! Regular one in living room, a special sized shaped one that I customized myself to fit into the corner of the dining room, a little one in the built in display area of the dining room, one in the basement and real one on the front porch. Never ever had that many before or after. It was fun, each one decorated differently.
I love to rotate the theme and decorate, it is awfully wasteful of space. This year I am finally going to get the pink decorations up. I can't wait! I bought them after the season in 2017, could NOT find them for 2018 (During the remodel mess when my barn was crammed full of stuff) so had to use other decorations. THIS year I have the pink stuff & have added more.
Can't wait to see your pink tree.
Ditto - I am looking forward to seeing the pink tree Pat.
Betty you give our Debbie a hug from me when you meet up.Are you up for a marathon shopping adventure ?
It was an absolutely wonderful day here. No snow falling, sun shining brightly and a perfect day for a walk. The TH and I went for a bit longer walk than I had planned.Diesel and Chaos tore off following the trail/scent of a coyote that was up checking things out by the house last night. This time of year and late March I worry about them going out on the lake. The ice is so precarious but they managed to stay on land. It still looks like a Christmas card here on the lane.
Santa Claus parade in Toronto today. I can remember Dad taking us to TO to see the parade.Betty did you take your boys to see it when they were kids ?
Have to go into Kingston Mon and Tues.My last appointments with Kayla the denturist.
What's everybody up to this week? I don't sew but love to read about the things you all make. I did order a latch rug hooking kit this week.
I've fallen in love with a leather chair and ottoman that Hudson's Bay has on sale this week. I'm trying to tell myself that with $1600 off I should buy it. I might just stop by the store tomorrow and give it the 'sit'; test.
I love leather furniture, my only compliant is that I can't keep a decorative pillow from sliding off them. I have a green hide-a-bed in leather, my sister found it for me for $50 and it was in fabulous condition. I'm afraid my living room is a bit over done in pink and green, LOL.
Right now my living room , it's over run with my sewing mess as I have moved 1 serger and sewing machine out to the living room so I can sew in the same room as Ben watching TV.
Hey Dianne. Glad you were able to get out for a walk. I bet you are looking forward to getting your teeth all done. That ottoman sounds nice. Post a photo when you get it home.
Morning all, let Ziggy out and there was a light mist, going to make things slippery if it freezes...
busy day yesterday, didn’t even get dressed, just plugged along..inside is decorated, trees up and pressies wrapped..not sure why I’m going to Buffalo this weekend?? Just to be part of our annual shopping trip I guess because I need so little. All the grandsons other than Kyle would prefer $$$ to help as they still go to school, rest is done or left to do in santa’s workshop. Did warn the girls that when I tire they can shop till they drop after they leave me at the hotel..
Yes Dianne, I did take the boys, quite an experience, floats were magnificent then add in the windows on Yonge street. I understand from news with all construction going on Santa will be taking different route and they are advertising that any car parked along the rout after 6am will be towed away. I think you need to buy yourself a pressie today Dianne..
Pat, how exciting and brave of you to change theme and colours at Christmas..
Anxious to see photo’s.
Still cold in your neck of the woods lindakay? How is your sister in law doing?
Best I do my hair and get dressed..hungry this morning so maybe bacon and eggs?
Then it’s off to find a project and tidy up santa’s Workshop.
Sister in law is hanging in there. Lots of not so good days.
Hooe she is not in mega pain...so hard of family watching..those memories never leave!
I'm sorry Linda, that is so hard. I know how hard it is for me to watch Ben in pain.
Last night must have been hard night, he is sleeping soundly this morning. Didn't even wake when I showered and got dressed. I know I should have a deeper conversation about Ben wishes, advance directive etc. We have talked but not to the point that I feel VERY confident of his thoughts on end of life measures.
She has a nurse come in when needed. She gives her morphine when it gets bad.
Nice and warm today. 72 right now. Get down to mid 40s at night. Not too bad.
Is she getting hallucinations from the morphine? My Dad and Ben did.
They haven't mentioned that. But I don't doubt it. Morphine can make you feel really weird.
I can't take it it. It makes me very sick to my stomach, and it makes my heart rate drop.
Morning all, milder today, put recycling to the curb and didn’t wear a jacket...all empty totes put away and now I’m having hot chocolate before the girls get here.
Pat, hard conversation to have, I didn’t know how to approach my dad when he was in the hospital, got on to talk about Roger, last days, the not revive him and casually asked the questions that needed answering. Hard but something you soon will have to do.
I so feel for you sil and her family, hugs
When I was spending all that time in the hospital, only thing that could stop the continual vomiting was morphine and a few other drugs they through together..thank the lord it worked each time.
This morning I started another scarf, think I’m up to #12 now..this one might be a scarf of many colours, using ends of all the scarfs..will try and wear one, neck injury permitting and I don’t mind the different shades.
Went to get a western sandwich yesterday for lunch, picked up 4 cans of pizza sauce, I’ll get another 4, get them spray painted black, get all fixings and they can be left extra gifts.
What are you all up to today?
My goal is to get one small Christmas throw done..we will see how that goes.
Maybe toast would go well with my hot chocolate
My allergies have turned into the crud. I am sitting at the Dr. waiting to be seen. Praying I don't have bronchitis.
take care linda hope you feel better.
betty did you get pic I sent you on the finished hat?
Linda, hoping not bronchitis too, feel better.
Thanks everyone. I have a sinus infection, double ear infection and bronchitis. I have picked up my meds, and home in the recliner.
Oh my LIndakay, thank goodness you’ve meds are resting...changes in weather can’t help but causing health issues.
No Liz, did not get a photo, was hoping to see end results and if you are pleased.
I got 4 cans into dishwasher and 4 more to be washed..don’t need them but just incase.
Girls were here this morning, busy with using up some of my victorian santas on placemats.no sooner did they leave Cathy and her mom dropped in...hard to understand, were besties for about 10 years, did everything together, one day she left and we never spoke after..few months ago I cornered her in foodland, where she went I went, told her I was sorry to hear of her dad’s death, about her cancer etc etc until she spoke. Ran into her and her mom one day, again I thinks she would rather not talk but I grabbed, gabbed gabbed..her mom is starting with Alzheimer’s ..I invited them to drop 8n, few weeks ago they did, again they dropped 8n for little over an hour..it’s like the 5 years or so we didn’t talk didn’t exist.
Just ate a peanut butter and jam sandwich, Lordy it was good, could so go for a nap but there are things to be done, machine is embroidering and I started painting the 5’ snowman plank so I’d better get a move on
Glad to hear you are talking again. I remember you were heartbroken when she left and wouldn't talk.
Did you get the recipe book covers done.
Almost one and 1/4 of recipes typed out.
Was going to ask her is general conversation into what happened but leaving it alone..it will never be same but we can still be friends
We have been in the high 70s and I have been gardening my fool head off.
I have one Christmas item out. It is a tree skirt my mother made me over 40 years ago. My patio and driveway have been re-stained and sealed and the sidewalk leading up to the house is fixed. It is large slabs of stone and some tree roots had raised some of the stones and lowered others. I fall just waiting to happen. It is now fixed and the two sidewalk panels in front of the house has been removed and replaced because that is the last place I fell.
I took care of Vern for over 5 years but only got help the last 9 months. I got help when he could no longer help me get him off the floor after a fall. He did not actually fall, usually just slid to the floor. He in the end did not hsve much strength to keep him self sitting up. With Parkinson, in the end they lose the ability to swallow. So we did have many discussions regarding what he wanted me to do when that happened. I told him they could insert a feeding tube to keep him alive. He said he wanted none of that. And he also said he wanted to sleep in our bed. The hardest day was when thy delivered the hospital bed. He gave me the look, knowing what that meant. I told him that was only for the family room because he couldn't sit up and it would be easier because we could raise him up so he could see wht was happening. His biggest problem the last 6 months is when I left the room. So the majority of the time I sat on the couch, just across from his hospital bed and I was his remote for the TV.
The day he died, they were moving the hospital bed into our bedroom and placing it next to the bed and lower it to the level of the bed. That way two dogs and I could sleep right next to him and he wouldn't know the difference. This was being done because my son-in-law came over every night to carry him into bed and the hospice nurse said his skin was getting too thin and was tearing to easily and he should not be moved anymore. The night before he died he had his first dose of morphine. One at 6pm and one at 4am. We were getting him dressed at 10am, after a sponge bath, and had one arm in a sleeve and just putting his other one in when he died.
He had been in hospice for 6 months and I never told him he was in hospice. I told him it was a new thing the insurance was paying for. I just knew if he knew he was in hospice, it would discourage him.
Pat, I hope this gives you some insight.
Linda, so sorry you are under the weather.
We are suppose to get rain tomorrow and dip down into the high 50s. Hugs to all of you.
I know I need to do it... I will pick a date and do it. AFTER Thanksgiving, before Christmas.
Good morning all, fog advisory for this morning..keep looking at weather forecast for here and Debbie’s Neck of the woods, looks clear so am keeping my fingers crossed that it does not change.
Sharon, what a loving caring woman you are..am sure Vern never realized his end was near with all you did to make him comfortable. Your home was stunningly beautiful, didn’t notice drive needed doing. Christmas will be a difficult time for you and your sister, will you get to spend time together?
Paul’s daughters are in Aruba so he asked if I could come in for 3 days so here I am packing up a bag of crafts to entertain myself...have a perm at 4 so it will be a busy day.
LIndakay, how are you feeling today?
Time for toast and hot chocolate..
LK I hope you are feeling a bit better today.
Oh Betty it will just be like old times for you at Paul's office.
See the denturist tomorrow. I love the look of the new teeth but they need a lot of adjustments.I was supposed to go yesterday but a lovely vertigo attack hit me. No driving for me
Stay safe and well
I am feeling a bit better. Still coughing, but not as much.
Bless you Sharon for taking care of Vern. Nothing tougher, than a caregiver.
Betty, I hope your weather stays nice for your trip.
Glad you're feeling better, Linda Kay :)
Caregivers are God's angels on earth. The patient may not realize, but they surely are.
We lost power the other night, from 7:45pm to about 4:30am.
Feeling sad tonight - I went on FB to wish my sister a happy birthday, and saw a notice from my other sister's (now passed in 2015) daughter (my niece) letting people know that her father (my brother in law) had passed away the day before (Tuesday). I know that he & my sister Alice both had cancer and she died of it in Sept 2015. Now Glen's joined his beloved wife. He's out of pain. He went downhill very quickly. Two weeks previously he was fine.
So sorry to hear that Susan. Sending lots of prayers for comfort and strength.
I'm sorry to hear that and adding my prayers for comfort and strength.
I got word today that my cousin was flown to Harborview hospital for brain aneurism and she is responding to treatment but not out of the woods yet. Her mother was my aunt that just died. We seem to be having a run of health issues.
Sorry to hear that Pat. Will keep them in our prayers.
So sorry Pat, Hugs.
Thank you
Pat, you & yours are in my prayers
Morning all, best we get in a circle and give each other hugs..big sigh for all of you..
It’s a rain, half ice kind of morning..just packing my bag as we will leave here about 11 for our USA shopping trip, it is suppose to be clear for Saturday and Sunday, here is hoping.
Picked up Sharon’s van last night so we won’t be crowded with shopping parcels..
Checking my list, know I’ll spend my bundle at Joann’s as I think there are great sales going on this weekend.
On melanie’s Christmas list to Santa is a weighted blanket..kohl’s has a 20lb one, reg $369 on for 129.99 and I think at till they take off another 25% so if that is the case I’ll be thrilled, with what I have for her and finding a pair of Jammie’s, she will be done.
Well I’d better get dressed, get a move on and start my day..
Prayers for all
Betty, check Walmart. They have 20 pound weighted blanket for $60.00.
Have a safe trip
