All braided up

Now you knit 6 rows and cast off..
I call this the ugly part of the scarf
I’m done for the night.have to sew in strands of wool, cut the tassel lengths then add to piece, that is where it comes alive..
You will see ends of the 6 knit rows, they will be worked in with tassels and you will not see them.
Tomorrow is another day right?
oh, I SO want to do this scarf, Betty - it's beautiful, even if you think that in making it there are "ugly" parts 🤣
I had a great day in the garden. I spent about 6 hours in the garden on Thursday. Vern's son, who is 55 and mildly mentally challenged, has been coming over to help me. Actually he comes over every Thursday for the afternoon and for dinner. Only day of the week I cook. This is his 3rd week o the garden and he is getting the hang of it. He only has use of his right hand but does do a good job of cleanup and is starting to recognize the difference between garden garbage and bulbs. And I tell him how wonderful he is doing and he eats that up. My other garden helper is also here on Thursdays and he also helps him. This is so good from him because it gets him out of his condo and into the outside air.
My tomatoes did not freeze and are setting on big time but this beautiful weather will probably not last.
I have a major staining and resealing of the patio, courtyard and driveway. All is done, as of today but cannot walk on the driveway or courtyard for 4 days. Only problem there is getting the dogs to the front landscape so they can go on their walk. I did it today carrying both dogs that each weight 20 pounds but it was no problem except for the large river rocks I have to walk on before I hit the lawn. So tomorrow I am going to carry one dog at a time and tie one to the streetscape tree and return for the other one. They are creatures of habit and the minute we head for that side of the house, which is the only way accessible at this time, they freak out.
Betty, your list would keep me awake at night. I am just ignoring the comment about you last Christmas.
Linda, I am so sorry about Todd's sister. My best to him and his family.
Pat, those dolls you make will be such a welcome gift for some little girl. That will make their Christmas.
We are not sure who will be here for Christmas. One granddaughter's husband is a resident and they have no finalized the schedule. They ill be here but they think the day after Christmas. We told them we would wait. The other granddaughter husband has medical school up to the day before so they will probably get here mid day Christmas. Christmas day flights are cheaper because everyone is already where they want to be.
If you guys gets tired of your weather, come visit me in Las Vegas. Hugs, Sharon
linda kay,
so sorry to hear that, sending prayers.
betty now its making sense I can see all the details thank you for posting that..
last Christmas omg! now im going to be shaking my head at you all day!!!
Betty, you need to stop thinking things like that. Once you get your neck taken care of, you will be in much better spirit.
Sharon, good to see you posting. Glad to hear you have helpers for your yard.
Hi ladies ..
Have been home from Toronto for a week, and, it was stressful and continues to be so over the miles.
I wouldn't wish dementia on my worst enemy !!
Have been to every kind of doc you can imagine, just for regular appts with Lorna's Mum, they just shake their heads and wish us well.
Thankfully her brother lives in the area and can take her to follow up appts. .. lorna was able to have her Mum assessed and someone will be coming in 3x a week to help her with daily tasks .
Deb // WOWZERS on your gorgeous dog !! love her colouring ..
LK .. sigh .. sad news, I hope Todd's sister is pain free .. in my prayers ..
Pat, I hope the weekend was restful for you ..
Betty .. I guess this time of year brings on a certain melancholy for us .. I guarantee it isn't your last .. oh my, the scarf is absolutely beautiful !!
How is Sharon feeling? I get my flu shot this Tuesday ..
Oh my Sharon, the 2 dogs are a hefty load to carry !! Ours are around 20# each as well, and, dead eight when held .. Awesome weather forecast, we are cold with light snow ..
Best go, time for Lorna to call her Mum and try and reason with her re eating and taking her antibiotic ..
Stay well all
~M~

Ill finish up scarf then I can chat
Start by cutting a lot of 15” pieces,of wool
Hoping it’s the right photo, if not I'll correct it
I start in the V, hoping you can sneeze where the strand it and end of the 6 knitting rows...I put the wool, through the needle and starting at the v I put through through end of 6th row and the other v end, this ties them together..Lordy this part is hard to show you...remember the knit side it up
You pull needle through leaving a little loop, grab the tassel lengths through the loop and pull...
Think I’ll go find a tutorial on adding tassel to knitted piece and post for you
Hoping you get the drift of it..after I do a tassel in every knitted loop I place scarf so one side of the tassels face me..set a ruler at 5* from the knitted row and cut excess off
Turn and do same for other side..
Voila a scarf
If there is a part I didn’t explain properly please ask and I’ll try to do better lol
I’m not a fan of this colour, look nicer than photo

that's elegant Carol!
I like that carol very nice
Thanks Pat and Liz.
Carol, that is beautiful. I can see several of them together in different sizes.
Thanks Linda Kay. I have a dinner plate and a large coffee can that I can make into a top hat.
You guys are so talented. I am actually going to put out some Christmas decoration next weekend. I have a helper on Saturdays and she can help me. I have so many different helpers doing man different things. Saturday helper was Vern's care giver and I she help me clean all the fresh vegetables my daughter gets me from Costco each Friday. She chops vegs for the dogs food and does what ever I need. I pay her cash and she makes as much as she would if she worked 3 hours a day for 4 days with the agency. She is not my caregiver but just a helper and she is cheaper for me than what I paid the agency and she makes more money. I am also teaching her how to garden. Hehehe.
I forgot to pay my RE property taxes so have $190 penalty. Makes me so mad. Last quarter I paid two properties on one parcel money but they waived the late charge because I wrote them a letter and they could see on the computer what I did. I now have it noted on my calendar.
I will take some photos tomorrow. Take care ladies and stay warm.
Glad to hear you have helpers Sharon. Sure does make life easier.
I'm SO thankful - not scared anymore:
Went to the Teleconference with the specialist & he said I have some vestiges left of my previous blood clots, but they they should dissolve, in time. He's not concerned about cancer. Sometimes it's cancer that causes the blood clots, but not this time. He does want me to keep monitoring, and he's sending me for a CT scan in the city. I got a call just before I left to go to town, giving me a schedule (in the city) for a mammogram & bone density scan - Saturday Dec 7th @ 10:45am. Should be just routine tests, but the CT scan..... well, I'll have to monitor my warfarin levels to make sure I'm at "therapeutic" levels. BUT, I'm not scared about cancer anymore!! There's so much cancer in my family, but not my mom. She lived to 98 & never got it, but my Dad & 3 sisters did. My dad's passed & so is my one sister. Guess I have my mom's genes :)
Susan, that is GREAT news!
Morning all,
Just in from shovelling snow..1st plow for Andrew..did the back areas including a pathway to back shed, still have goodies that have to come in..hot chocolate and toast will warm me up, I’ll go out when it’s warmer and get the front done..
I see cat paws up the stairs to door I had closed last night, think sometimes they come lay on back deck settees so I will have to look for blankets and under deck as there is a lower door entrance animals can het out of the cold..
Susan that is terrific news, nothing gets the mind going than thinking the worse. Perhaps you have your moms genes,
Sharon, you are getting so much accomplished with your helper, am sure he is getting a lot of knowledge and feels needed just being there with you. Is there a season that you just sit and enjoy!
Karen, sorry to hear about your sister in law, how is her family managing?
Liz, did you do your snowman hat? Carole love the simplicity of yours..keeping it or giving it as a gift?
Have to go back and read the last posts but not before getting my dusting and floors done..
Glad to hear you got good news Susan.
im working on it a little after work here and there.
Great news Susan. Must be such a relief!
I will be keeping my snowman hat, Betty.
My granddaughter came for dinner last night. She has been working a lot and it has been a couple of weeks since we caught up. Nice to have her company. We watch Wheel of fortune and Jeopardy after dinner and play along.
Debbie - glad you found us!
Debbie..that photo of the snow on the trees is very pretty.
I bought a new longer warmer coat for this winter. It seems the older I get the warmer I need to be. It has 4 pockets too. I have worn it the last two days ..on these unusually cold, but sunny days.
Senior's Exercise this morning for me. Have a good day all.
Morning from winter wonderland, Andrew just did my drive...
Yes we too Debbie broke records for this time of year..I believe we up north are in for a long one..
I’d love to buy a new coat Carole, no can do, been decades I cannot wear anything across my neck, not even a necklace, so my old sweater has to do, Xmas shopping in buffalo on 17th so maybe I can find a replacement.
Hoping to see you Debbie, highlight of the weekend is meeting up with you for breakfast at Cracker Barrel..
Yesterday morning heard from my brother Bernie that his friend Doug who drives a dump truck was hit by someone who went through stop sign..Doug was finishing out this season and retiring..so sad.
Slept in since 7 seeing a had nightmares all night, bestget my coffee..
Betty when are you coming over? I need date to meet up to you
I have a pair of shoes Sharon sent also to bring.
Morning.. milder day out there,
Debbie we are coming next Friday, so which ever day is better for you, Saturday or Sunday we could meet up and do breakfast or lunch..
light snow rain, great day for making snowman but I opted to bring Christmas trees in..even thinking of doing front deck even though I won’t be shovelling it but it will look pretty all lit up.
So weekend project is getting three trees decorated and maybe get the embroidery machine working it’s magic while Christmas movies play or music fills the air..got my 2nd wind, might even pick up live greenery and do my arrangements..if I don’t put flowers in them and keep them on back deck then in a few week I just have to buy bouquets of flowers, arrange them and one less project to do.
Greg came over last night, don’t you know your kids, he sat down and I asked what I could do for him, nothing, just thought he’d visit mom, that when on for about 1/2 hr then he asks what was I thinking of doing for Jeff’s 50? Then he says he found the most absolute gift for Jeff, a puppeteer in Florida makes a golf iron puppet that looks exactly like the person in the photo they work from..$300 + tax + shipping US, thought maybe if we both went in on it Jeff would be thrilled..said I would, he said he would investigate today and maybe we would order it today, jeff’s Birthday is dec 8th, they say 3 weeks but Greg will phone to see if it can be done for 8th. Knew something was up..
Well I’d best get myself organized, Melanie has a bunch of girls making the cedar gnomes tonight and needs to make hats and mitts so will come over this afternoon and get them done for all..
I have some shopping to do this morning, so will get that done, I just might hang lights on the front deck and trees..
Now that I’ve got my day and weekend planned, what are you up to?
Here you are just about done with Christmas, and I just started last week. I need to get my but in gear.
33 this morning, and everything is covered in ice.
I'm going to a Christmas open house at David Trotter's Hidebound studio tomorrow.Want to see what he has in leather necklaces. I have two now..and I really like them. All his things are one of a kind.
Plus a little shopping at Shopper's Drugmart.
I got my winter tires put in this morning. Asked them to check the brakes while the tires were off. They are fine. Good news.
Looks as though we are getting in the mood..midland was a zoo, melting which causes a bit of ice so snow tires needed. I bought a large pkg of gorgeous tissue paper and 10 more Xmas bags.
Anxious to see photo of necklaces you are looking for Carole.
I’ve been dying for a homemade stew, trying to decide do I want to make it now for supper or have it simmering tomorrow while I’m doing trees.
Wish stores would open earlier,I’d love to go to Barrie in the morning, do a bit of shopping and home by 9...not going to happen!
Still snowing albeit it's a light snow. We will have to be plowed though. So it will be 2 plows already...... that's unheard of. Starting to warm up a bit too.
Interesting leather necklaces. There used to be a guy on the show circuit who did all sorts of necklaces, brooches and earrings. He was from Manitoba.
The TH love the snow. They like to roll down the hill. Reminds me of when I was a kid and we would use sleds all day long. One year a cousin and I went right through a basement window belonging to a church. We had oodles of places where we wouldn't bother anybody or anything ..... so why did we end up there? It is time for me to dig out my snow pants.
Deb do you have shows over the Christmas ?
Stay safe and warm.
One of my girls is down in Florida now. She's being shown there this weekend, and will be at the big shows in Orlando in December. No shows for those of us left at home.
Love the necklace Carole , he is talented for sure..one thing is they will last a lifetime. I so wish I could wear a necklace big sigh.
Dianne, they opened ski lodge here, apparently it’s record breaking being able to do so. I also
had my drive twice, should have it done again to get rid of slush, don’t need a skating rink. Those snowmobile days were something weren’t they..I’ve been on Greg’s, heated seat, throttled, foot warmer..heated all gear heated..helmet heated, surround sound in it..ride on air..they’ve never snowmobiled like we did!
Deb, good luck in Florida, I’ll have to ask Sharon if she is going although Inuk hasn’t been 100% of late, she ’s regulated. Will you be going to watch her? Would be nice For you to be able to enjoy sunshine.
Melanie was here sewing some gnome hats, she and a few friends are making the gnomes tonight.
Got a call from Braedon, grandson in Vancouver B.C. He will be coming home for3 weeks and quite excited about that.
Greg and Kyle dropped he, didn’t stay for stew, got the order in for Greg and Jeff’s
Custom golf Muppet ordered, sent photo’s of the boys, who knows if they will actually resemble them..thinking I need my head read...
Stew is simmering, Ziggy wants to cuddle and this gal wants a hot bath and early night, thought I might have had energy to set up one of the trees but not
