Welcome back Starzz.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Linda Kay. I have had a rest and I will go out again for a bit.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Welcome back Starzz, I am sure we have crossed paths before!

I took the day off work, I hired 3 of my young neighbor boys and they ran boxes, sweep & mopped, cleaned the patio, etc etc. I sat and sewed part of the time!! the house smells clean and best of all, it wasn't me doing the cleaning! All 3 bathrooms & living area floors. I didn't have them brave my craft area!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Great idea Pat! Give yourself a break Thanks for the welcome back.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't remember you Starzz, but my memory is slipping lately. At any rate Welcome Back!!.

Glad you have some help Pat. Sure makes your day easier.

We are heading to MI tomorrow. going to bring back a couple of the greats for a couple weeks. Taking three with me so should be a noisy trip back with 5. Especially Katie & Amelia, they are besties and write, phone, & message all year waiting for some summer together time.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Thank you Siliogma,
Have fun with your Grands. Betty came to visit my garden and me too of course. :)
We went off to a garden centre together. Many years ago now. I think her profile photo is Betty standing in front of my Gazebo. But I'll have to double check that...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Yes..Bett's profile pic is in front of my gazebo. Unfortunately this year it has rotted and a lot of the back of the roof has fallen. It was built in 1998 out of cedar logs. with all the vines over it holding the moisture the wood has rotted. This photo was taken in 2016.

Happy belated birthday, Liz
Betty - that gnome is adorable!
Hi Carol - will you be replacing the gazebo?
I'm waiting for my peony bud to bloom - it's the first one I've ever grown, successfully, and hope the flower blooms well. It's red, my favourite colour 👍

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Liz..I remember..it still hangs on the wall in my "Christmas room" aka rec room.
Happy Birthday. Thinking of your best friend on here..what was her name?..she came to visit you. Was it Judy?
Tallulah..no I won't be replacing the Gazebo. The fella who built it has moved far away. He was a co-worker who had built one for himself. I don't know anyone who could fix it. Good Luck with your peony. I have a white one that was gorgeous but had heavy rain and it is all fallen..they smell so good.

Pacifica, CA

thank you susan, how are your teeth, I sure do remember that pain not fun at all!

carol, thank you, yes judy oh where do I begin judys young girls are all grown up married and have two little girls of their own judy is enjoying every minute of being a grandma.
what have you been up to?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, drop a quick note! We worry when we don't hear from you!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everybody, what a gorgeous day in my neighbourhood..calling for a feel like 90..Thunderstorms on Friday I think a sunshine weekend for our Canada day.

Carol, so happy to see you posting missed you! Just the other day when I put the plaque you gifted me when I visited I wondered how you were doing and if you were still doing your gardens? The area nursery we went to had such beautiful things..could have come home with a trunk full..I remember picking up a wisteria in hopes it would grow as yours covered the branched gazebo and took your breath away..well, I still have mine, 1 vine and maybe 4-5 leaves, guess it doesn’t like its place in gardens. Although I don’t have your acreage seeing your gardens warmed my heart so I try as best I can to make those areas I so enjoyed in your gardens.

I believe when you last posted you were going to the YMCA In hopes it would help your ails..has it?

it was Judy that was Liz’s best friend, last summer I visited a few days with Liz and Kenny in California..Kenny was best tour guide ever, let’s say on same level as Steve in Chicago lol

Karen you are braver than I, Suzanne. Was gear with her 3 granddaughters 4-6-10
Soooo much energy, don’t know how you do it.

Girls were here till noon yesterday, s slept the afternoon, wenttobed at 4, up to eat before I took my meds and up just after 7..still paining big time..laying on couch trying to think what I could possibly make to help...mind is a blank and usually I’m pretty good about thinking up a make shift project

Best I get up and get dressed

Ohh just got a call for massage, going to try that..tmr 3:30

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty posted yesterday in reply to a post in An old thread called "How did you get your name" I'll bet she is gardening her heart out. Amazing woman that she is.

(This is what Betty posted yesterday morning) "Omg, I was thinking of you and your lively gardens just the other day..in fact you gifted me with a lovely plaque, just set it out amongst the hostas

Do you still have your lovely gardens?
And family, still doing ok?

I’m just so excited..do come and join in the chatter.

You just made my day.."

Liz..glad to hear Judy is enjoying her family. I am trying to clear a bit of the mess of my garden this year. I hired a young man to come 2 hours a week for the heavy stuff. I wasn't up to gardening last year..and let it all go.

Anyone having trouble adding photo’s today?

The photo didn't post Betty. But I think it said, "Working is beginning to interfere with my gardening". OR "My job is beginning to interfere with my gardening." You were still working then, and I was retired. So I thought it belonged with you.

It rained a lot last night..everything is wet but the sun is out and just waiting for things to dry up a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Church window screen that was gifted me many years ago needs repair...hmmm maybe today

Going back carol to your saying you couldn’t keep up togarden work, same for me for 2-3 summers so much work to try and get caught up, need to find me a helper like you anddianne have found

love seeing your pretties - flowers & ornaments - thank you for sharing 😁

Lyndonville, NY

Good afternoon,

Bessie Lou came and got me ....what a change, reverse role! Haha

Happy Belated birthday to Liz ....Linda Kay....Pat.....and all I missed.

Have been hectic here.
My little cat Huck is very sick, and giving me scares.....

And then my son bought a motorcycle. I am so blessed with this kid as he took me to see it, we talked about everything, then I drove him to do the paperwork and bank. The next day he asked me to go shopping for helmet, gloves and all needed for safety. AND we did a nice lunch. He really is trying hard.

Spending more time with DD Shannon also. Having peace of mind for us.

Also working in the yard and my roses are blooming galore.

Take care all, stay healthy Hugs
Debbie

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Nice to see the sign again, Betty. What will you use the screen for?

Victoria Harbour, ON

There you are Debbbie, makes my day.here is hoping I’ll see you this weekend if all goes well, so you will get double the hugs vs finger pointing lol

Not greatest news about Huck (hugs) but is about the kids..Kyle is driving a motorcycle as well, regardless how safe he says he is being I’m terrified, now did Sean buy a helmet for you? Is Shannon feeling any better?

Carol, Bernice a neighbor gave me the screened window when I first moved in, was against the tree near s3cret garden, I then moved it to side of back shed, has a lovely metal flower that is hung on it, had moved to Bach shed, now doing this to it (attaching photo) so I could hand it in the main garden or move the carved pieces to the back and set it back on the tree..one never knows where it will land up, first I have to fix it..

Brought it to back door, found 2 -2x4s that I could get 30” pieces from but means taking out a saw,no can do..easier on shoulder to head out to Home Depot buy a length and have them cut it..aren’t I being good

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am not fond of using our table saw, it's got too many issues. Having to buy a piece of wood, just so I can get it cut, is what I have frequently also resorted to. That scrap wood "plank walk" used up most of my scraps. Still no bid from contractors regarding the covered patio I want.

Good afternoon, just missed morning by a tad..Sharon brought me some marawa (?) cream doc had given her for inuk when a dog bit him for me to try, this afternoon I go for massage so I will not use the cream until I see how the massage works, if I use it now then go for massage and I feel better I’ll not know which is working, perhaps neither or both so I’ll try massage first.

I’m a tad better today, visited with Sharon, traced some fall fabric for a benchpillow for thanksgiving for something to do..Lordy, even sat n lounge chair enjoying the day, that IS NOT EASY...I’m seeing all the scrappy trees that should be cut, v8nes..Drats those carpet roses I planted years ago near the pond I filled in are growing everywhere..moral of my story is if I’m inside I can’t see what needs doing, shaking my head..

Sharon said a neighbor recommended a young man to do work,he worked yesterday and she said she has never seen a man work so hard..
If it doesn’t ra8n tomorrow she will have him work again and a few days next week so I’ll ask her to have him come here for 1/2 day and get what needs done here.

Go8ng to midland yesterday was a chore, actuallyhad tears..found a jar of blue ointment I actually bought stateside and used it and omg felt 100% better, so have been using it so when I’m stateside I’ll bring a few jars back.

Sharon said she would drive to buffalo Saturday for the day so am hoping I’m ok to do so, want to meet up with our Debbie for brunch, good old Cracker Barrel is call8ng our name lol here is hoping!!

Pat I did get 2 pieces of 2x4 cut to size and screwed them to church piece..right where it starts to become an architect needs 2 pieces of wood, might look in my stash and see if there are any pieces that could be screwed on..just too bad i hadn’t spray painted the 2x4’s though.

Sharon saw thebirdhouse, told me to make her one for Xmas so another painting job I can do that is non energy needed..next time I’m in town will get the wood, something to do on rainy day.

Back outside, look8ng to see if I bought weed killer when I was stateside, grass growing between the pond patio stones..again someth8ng to do that is non strenuous right.

I also decided that I take a lot of calls and bending my neck to hold phone I’m putting pressure on it soooo going to buy new phones that have ear plug, will go shopping before heading tpfor massage..every little bit that helps right?

What else, oh SHARON told me I need to get better because when 8nuk passes, not right now but when he does, she is taking me on a 3 week vacation to England,Scotland,Wales,Ireland etc..a sister pressing before we are dead and gone..wow

Outside I go

Glad you're feeling better, Betty, if only a tad.
I am too - head's drying up, thanks to night-time NeoCitron.
Eating toast now - can "tear" with my front teeth, so that's good.
Raining off & on here. By Saturday it's supposed to get warm & sunny, then rain again on Sunday. Looking forward to sitting out on the back deck 😊

Victoria Harbour, ON

Much same weather here Susan..sunshine and sitting on deck is sure to help the recovery process

Just gotback, bought phones that have headset, omg think I’ll be in heaven, no phone resting on neck...

Christine who did my massage said my neck was all knots, worked on me for 1/2 hour, said it was enough for one day, going back Tuesday

Debbie here is a photo for you...

Does anyone know what the white flowers are? Mock orange is just staring to open..the scent will be so nice

Hi Betty, That Headset phone looks amazing. Great idea. Sounds like you had a much better day. Enjoy your gardens. ..and the weekend with Sharon and Debbie. Last time when I was in the U.S. (about 3 years ago) I got some blue gel in a tube called Perform. Much better than Voltaren. It helps with pain from arthritis, aches, and pains. It was 10 dollars at the time. I think it was at Walmart. I have never seen it here in Canada. Your dinner looks good. I haven't had Chinese in a long while. Happy Canada Day!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Tallulah..glad your new teeth are settling in a bit better. I have a top denture and I have to take it out after a few hours (if am alone) and rest my gums as they are tender.
Hope you are slowly getting used to the denture.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I can NEVER rest phone on shoulder and press to neck, guaranteed to give me major pain!!! I have a head set at work. I don't even like holding cell phone with hand to my ear. headset or speaker phone ALL the way!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, overcast this morning, rain to start shortly but that is ok as they are promising a sunshine weekend, actually 89 with feels like 98 on Monday so it great for all camping and doing outdoor festivities.

Roads will be crazy, Rolling Stones will be performing at Burls creed tomorrow, little over 1/2 hour from here and with everything else going on it will be crazy traffic wise.

A tad better today, thankfully rain will keep me out of mischief and if we head stateside that will be another day I’m not doing something stupid to ruin the progress I’ve made last few days.

Carol, I’ll mark down that medication, worth trying for sure.nwill you have same weather as I?

Deb, any dog shows this weekend?

LIndakay how are your sew8ngprojects going?

Guess your big weekend will be next weekend..

Hoping sales at Joann’s will be this weekend lol

Sharon is settling in, nice having her dropping in from time to time, I didn’t visit this week re my neck/shoulder but try to go over either for early morning coffee or drop in afternoon for a visit..she has been working big time and the man she hired a blessing, he has accomplished so much..he may not be able to work today because of rain, not sure she would have anything for him to do inside..who knows maybe rain will hold off til mid afternoon.

Lots of drama with that mom of mine..she called me, could tell by her voice she was looking for a fight, no sooner did I say hi she started, I told her I’d been in so much pain, on the couch, not knowing what to do with myself all week and that I was not going to argue, no sooner did I say that she hung up on me..grrrr. She is getting worse, she is getting evil with Sharon, figures SHARON should give her $100k for the money her son took from her, not so sure he took it all with her not kniw8ng but anyway he is back living with her so I have no sympathy for her or Brian’s antics and not going to fight..

Not sure if I told you but Darlene’s sister had a Ford Flex, Ming condition, not a scratch on it, Sharon was going to buy it for her, I made arrangement, when mom arrived last Monday and got into it with Sharon she said if she wanted a car she’d pick her own..she is driv8ng an old van that is not road worthy, now says she doesn’t want another vehicle because it was Jim’s vehicle (stepfather who died about 5 years ago) and won’t part with it..ok stay stranded on road then. Grrr I’m rambling, upset with her, she has us 4 sibling in turmoil because of her..what do you do?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

No dog shows this weekend. Heading to Detroit next weekend, July 5,6,7 for shows.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty..they say we will get thunderstorms later in the day. Right now, sun with intermittent clouds. Relax today so you will not strain your neck. Have you tried the new headset phone?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb how many hours will it take you to drive? O bad these shows aren’t within driving to amd from on daily basis..how are your gardens? Think often and mean to ask, how is your daughter doing..still working day/night to ease the pain of her loss?

Same here Carol amd yes I love headset, not sure why I didn’t do this years ago when I hurt a little, guess since it’s way worse I realize it’s a must

Feel like a little girl playing with cut outs lol
Passes the time though!

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

It's about a 5 1/2 hour drive to the shows, plus I have to factor in the time change, too. Charlotte is going with a handler, but I want to go to watch at least one day.

Thanks for asking about my daughter. She is doing OK, still working crazy hours, but starting to think about the future. She's been living on her own since Kyle's death, but is planning on moving in with a couple friends for a year or more to save up for the down payment for a house.

My 6 y.o. DGD Kylee, (my son't daughter) fell on her first day out of school and broke her arm. She's been in a cast for a couple weeks now, hopefully not too much longer. The doctor said it wouldn't be more than a month in a cast.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

one day on the road and a day in the country with no WiFi. I sure did miss a lot here and the other site.
Spent time with my aunt who is turning 90 in Oct, better shape than I. Also a day at daughters and got to see everyone there. Time was too short but better than nothing which was what happened to me last trip up.

We have to head home on Sunday, will be taking 5 of the greats with us for a couple weeks. You mentioned a Ford Flex Betty, we got one a couple months ago and are really enjoying it. It's very comfy, gets good mileage, and holds 7 of us.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I hope you are taking it easy? Glad to hear you are trying to find ways to take the pressure off your neck/arm. If you get to go to the US this weekend, please give Debbie hugs.

Deb, you will be surprise how quickly those little ones can heal.

I have been sewing purple heart quilts. I will send a photo in a bit.

Betty, this is the current coupons for Joanns. Good thru 10 July.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, have taken things earlier today, even went to visit SHARON for an hour..I’m amazed, said she doesn’t regret the move..must be because she moved closer to me right lol

Thanks LIndakay, I’m anxious to see your quilts..Sharon and I decided as they are calling for 100,000 people in the area to see Rolling Stones tomorrow and a better day for Debbie to go Sunday so yes will surely give her a hug.

Karen don’t know how you do it with all the grands, I had 3 here Friday night for 3-4 hrs and theyplum tired me out..safe

Deb, I’m glad she is doing much better, difficult time for her..ahhh poor little Kylee, couldn’t have happened when in school vs out of school..yes, they sure do heal quickly. As for dog showmuch too far to travel in one da, hope you get to go watch.

Poor inuk, Sharon offered me an apple turnove, inuk sat look8ng at me, poor thing, with his diabetes Sharon keeps him on a strict diet. She said his numbers are much better since the move, she attributes this to walking him and Paris 3 times a day for quite a distance, so that is good.

Decided to wash my bedding this morning, wish I could have hung it out, after the bedding I have at the bottom of the bed a quilt throw that Ziggy has made her quilt blanket, thought I best was it as well, thankfully I put a colour sheet in washer..look what the white sheet looks like now..no colour run in quilt..thank goodness for those sheets..they are triple the price here, although I’ve a few boxes I’ll pick up a few more.

I ate something that didn't agree with me and my tummy is killing me. All I did at work this afternoon was rotate between 4 bathrooms!
