Thanks for the new thread Betty.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Having a rainy day again. Will be sewing, finishing the top to the I Spy quilt and maybe more.
Very exciting....getting a new toilet. LOL I know that's not exciting to most but the one here is truly awful. Besides being old and nasty...it is situated in a corner. By that I mean it's actually shaped to fit in the corner. The seat is sort of wedge shaped and most uncomfortable. The kicker is, it never had to be in the corner as there is plenty of room for it to sit properly. In fact sitting on it my knee bumps the garden tub (which is the next to go). The tub will be a big project as it dominates the room and doesn't even work so no need for it at all. Once it is gone, the vanity will go where the tub is now. At present the vanity, which is small and short, is stuck in another corner. Don't know who designed this bathroom but it couldn't be more wrong. At any rate we had to keep it for nearly last as the parts worked and we needed to tend to things that didn't first. Our bathroom will be like Johnny Cash's Cadillac..."One piece at a time".

Victoria Harbour, ON

Too funny Karen, one piece at a time (big smile) slowly but surely it will all get done and how thrilled you will be.

Mom called me this morning, very upset, Mary an old friend from her 20’s passed light night..she had asked mom to come visit last few days but weather was so terrible mom said as soon as weather get better, so she is feeling better. I worked with Mary at General Electric when I was 16 along with mom..lovely lady..husband passed and no children..so sad!

Leaving here at 1:30 for funeral home, entertaining myself with a book dancer embroidery..soooo UGLY..will certainly not be made into something

Lyndonville, NY

Good afternoon,

Oh Betty, my heart did a leap....hearing of Aunt Muriel. Her and your Mom are dear to my heart (as are Sharon and you and rest of family). But those two bantering and just reminds me of my Mom. Prayers for her.

Finally have sunshine here. I have gone out back 2 x, without camera....and feeder loaded with birds. I get camera and go out....not a bird in sight.

Fixed dinner and a lava cake for FIL last night and went to have dinner with him and did his B-12 shot for him. Had a nice visit. SURE is cold and snowy out that way also.

I want to sew so much Betty, but I can't see the fine work on the sewing machine.....can't even thread it. I think I need to look into finding a new model that does it for you. Wearing my contacts and glasses on top, still can't see tiny things!!!

Stay safe traveling today. Hugs to all
Debbie

Thanks Debbie, yes would be a loss..mom’s brother Don is on his death bed, aunt Muriel is feisty and only so much her little body of 82 has the energy to gpfight operation so doubt they will operate. Lots of death with family/friends lately..gets overwhelming.

Linda messaged me overnight she found online a bit of family 8nfo, send me my aunt Natalie I was raised with at my grandma’s, she was ancient when she died, so frail and here listed is that she is 71, omg my age, doesn’t make me feel good.

I can’t believe Debbie you go anywhere without your camera, am sure birdies will come back for you to take photo. Glad you had nice visit with fil, been awhile hasn’t it? Is he doing better?

Yes, machines now have threaders but you have to have eyesight to use them..I bought an adapter that fits on front of my machine than magnifies big time, you would be ok with that..when you visit I will get you set up to make something..yep, I’ll get you sewing.

Overcast this afternoon, bitter cold..started my car and will do so a few more times before leaving..glad I have heat controls for my seats,I will be warm and toasty when going to town.

Thinking I might head to Barrie after funeral parlour and get a few things I need and save me going before the funeral at 1 tomorrow.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob is coming home from the Dr's - new script for Thyroid & Cholesterol.......... he's had cholesterold tabs before, but then didn't need them long. Not sure about Thyroid. He's going to get fitted for a heart monitor on Monday (has to go to another town to their lab). He'll have to wear it for 48 hours.

Verona, ON

Happy St David's Day everyone. He is the patron saint of Wales.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great they are checking him out... better safe than sorry.

I happy St. David’s Day to you as well Dianne...my step father Jim came from Wales...used to love hearing his stories..

Sharon just told me her friend who got one of her pups’s husband passed yesterday at 48, Lordy, afraid to answer phone.

Just got in, was at the wake for a few hours, mostly young family as all his siblings except one have passed..

Then headed to Barrie..dropped into 3 fabric shops and no longer have my months allowance, no play money for me, spent it all...lol

Weather was spectacular, too bad they are calling for snow tomorrow...

Funeral tomorrow.. big sigh

Thanks everyone, long day so I’m tired..will gab in a.m.

Long day for you Betty. I enjoyed seeing your photos on FB. I have a cousin lives very near NOLA. they have quite a celebration every year for Mardi Gras.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Happy Birthday Betty. We had snow again here in Las Vegas. Early this morning and then it turned to rain. Rained off and on all day.

You are right that all the landscape in my neighborhood was done by professionals. It is a requirement. Rules have how many trees you must have in front and back landscape and they have a list of trees and plants you cannot have. Reason being allergies. My landscape is not the norm but was approved. When I am carried out of here feet first, the garden will be bulldozed and plain grass and minimal flowers will appear. I did lose quite a few succulents and my geraniums will all have to be replaced.

Vern's daughter is coming to town tomorrow through Tuesday and will drop by a few hours a day to see her father and I will garden because she will keep an eye on him and I will only be outside. Vern is doing OK. Still eating and I had both of my parents the last months of their lives and the elimination of eating is first. My mother did not eat for over 2 months before she died. She lived 12 days without hydration.

Lake Tahoe has had over 47' of snow this year. Record now fall in the Sierras and Rockies. Hopefully spring warms up slowly.

I will talk with you all tomorrow. I just got on here to say "Happy Birthday" Betty.
I will take photos of my nursery purchases tomorrow. Have a wonderful Sunday.

GOODNESS! I was only gone a few days and lots of losses, sorry for those if you mourning or worried about loved ones that are still struggling.

Just got back from the trip sewing expo, Sister & I had great time, indulged in LOTS of retail therapy.

Quote from psychw2 :

Retail Therapy? I like that term!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh seriously... sometimes I know THAT is exactly what I am doing and CHOOSE to do it. Over a year or more, I bought every Valentine coffee cup that the thrift store had (that I liked anyhow) and mismatched saucers to go with them. At 50 cents a piece, it was cheap entertainment. Better for me than a candy bar! I matched them up, made cute little bird feeders/yard art out of them & eventually donated them without any guilty feelings.
THIS was "slightly" more expensive LOL!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had company most of day, will get back to respond to your posts, but first must cook din din

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

what a wonderful idea, Pat! I sometimes think about taking my decorative teacups & doing the same thing, but it's so windy here, and we do get lots of hail in the summertime, so I haven't done it.
What's for dinner, Betty? I'm trying to think of something, but the brain's not working past chicken nuggets and potato wedges. That sounds like an easy cop out......

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm ALL about the easy (if I can keep it healthy!). My WHOLE trip I ate no SWEETS, that's a big deal for me. Bad habits that have been established for years include eating junk food (especially sweets) while traveling.
the floral were all "scraps of fabric" about 1/4 yard, $8 a pound (or about 3 years). In the 3rd picture is the dragon fabric I purchases for the "curtains". First picture includes my first kit!

Some pictures of the remodeling/changes. I did not take pictures of the kitchen... I have been gone, it ain't pretty! If I try to move Ben and clean up his messes he will be offended so I'll get pics later of that.
First new wall that is at the end of entry (back side of new bathroom) new bathroom 2 & 3, 4 is the beginning of work in the new guest room with WIP for wall hanging to cover up electrical panel.

More of my purchases... I did my best to stimulate the economy… I think I can combine panel 4 with 5 if I choose to. 2nd is close up of the kit. 1st is more of the scrap fabric I bought by the pound. Can you tell I have a yellow black white project in mind?

LOVE the hummingbirds, and the "Friends" fabric panel
That dragon shower curtain is SO cute! Keep the pictures coming, Pat
That yellow/black/white theme looks like it'll be Great!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with all your pretties!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, looks like you had a great trip. I love all your purchases.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yea, I went a little "crazy"! Very restrained first day, don't know what happened second day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Retail therapy is good for everyone.

Is everyone sleeping in today?

Cold front hit last night. 30 degrees this morning. Supposed to warm up Thursday.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I did had a rough night, Better today.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I slept 11 hours according to my Cpap!! I'm too old to burn a candle at both ends and I am not used to late nights. My body has a tendency to get up at regular "up time", no matter how late I go to bed, so sleeping in is rarely an option. Besides, once I am awake, all I can think about is what I want to get done!
No new snow again today, YEAH!! expecting more later this week.
The garage is COLD and a mess (much of it mine) and I need to get in there and cut some wood so I can finish up some projects. That twin headboard won't make itself (darn it).
#1 one of panels I will be taking apart to make King head board. #2 & #3 our current snow. I honestly thought we were going to make it thru this winter with little to no snow. We set a 100 year record for snow in Feb.

I have a king size headboard I want to make for the quest room out of an Oriental carved wood screen. I SAY it's for our guest room but I am anticipating giving it to my DDIL over the protests of my son!! HE doesn't want any more stuff "to move again someday".

The screen originally belonged to my DDIL. It has 3 hinged pieces, each made up of 3 different size panels within it. One of the lower panels was missing and the whole screen needed major work. She never found a way to make use of it, and it was a bone of contention between them. HE want it GONE.

I took it when they moved away with the intent of finding something "useful" to do with it and return it. Their bed does not have a headboard and it "needs" one for aesthetics purposes! By adding a wide shelf to the top it will have a good function for him (VERY necessary, NOTHING exists in his world if it doesn't have PURPOSE besides just looks!) LOVE my son, his wife and I drive him crazy with our love of "things" that don't have purpose besides beauty!

Morn8ng all, nooe afternoon and if I soon dont post will be tonight lol

Cold but sunny..

Janice and Helene came this morning, nice to see them..they left at noon and I met up with sharon in midland to look at a home for sale for 2nd time..we then headed closer to here, omg it was just what she wanted..acreage, able to have 4+ dogs, house 2 years old..now comes her delima, how quick will her 1.4 million house sell for, is there a market in her region?

Going out tonight for supper and to change the 3 tops and slacks that SUZANNE bought me for my birthday.
Now you can see how excellent I’m doing on those meds I had forgotten to take, mega energy and 80% less body pain.

Karen, hope it’s nothing major keeping you from sleeping.

Think Sharon’s out enjoying her gardens while Vern’s daughter is visiting..hope it’s a sunshine day in Nevada.

Pat sure love your quilting buys, nice to go crazy at shows isnt it..we have the big one in Toronto, will have to check when that is..did your sister buy lots as well?

How are you feeling LIndakay, did I miss where you said you were visiting San Antonio for doc update? Wow that is cold for you...think we are suppose to get a day in 30’s next week

Debbie any news on the eyes.

Deb, was repairing heat system expensive?

Susan, had a chuckle, up I had chicken fingers/yams and made muffins, they ere small, ate them all lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol Betty - we had chicken nuggets, potato wedges, and coleslaw, followed by ice cream (homemade, black cherry).

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob was to get fitted for a heart monitor halter today (for 48 hours) and he went to Red Deer 1 hour drive away. That wasn't where he was to go. He was to go to the lab in the hospital next to the Medical Clinic where our Dr is, in Three Hills - 20 min drive. Finally figured it out, and they said they could take him now, if he got there right away. He's on his way there now, and will have to return on Wed noon'ish, to get it taken off.
I notice that he's starting to get forgetful & confused. Not much at the moment, but noticeable to me....
