Betty I got an email notice that the parcel is at your PO. For all of you this is my parcel from the Santa Warren exchange. Not late at all, oh no !
Best/Worse/What did I learn today, visit with friend old/new..all welcome to join us chat!
But so much more exciting Dianne..on this long winters day, last day of January, snowing like crazy, it comes as a bit of sunshine, perfect timing..now to just get out to get it.
I so don’t want to go out again but must....extra big sigh..
Just got a call from Dr. Now. Waiting on call from surgeon. I need to have my gallbladder removed, while he does that, he will take a sample of my liver. Test I had done Monday showed I have a fatty liver as well as scarring. Means I need new meds to prevent it from getting worse.
Getting old sucks.
Ain't for wimps that is for sure
Sorry to hear you need surgery LIndakay..beyond sucks but the alternative isn’t good.
Snowing like crazy, trying to talk myself into going out to shovel..
Morning all, cold one out there..I was out and got the front and back pathways done, now waiting for Andrew to get here, got to wonder where he will put the 3-4ft snow drift the municipal plow left in my drive let alone what is in the drive.
Decided to come in and warm up, read the paper that was dropped off last night, drats, another friend passed away....they ran a motel on Rogers route and we became friends, as Barb was originally from Midland the had a cottage in midland..barb was 78 and passed suddenly...have to give bob a call..he was quite the character, few of you may remember my stories of how he talked to himself and answered out loud..sad
Well I best get suited up and finish my shovelling..say more is to come but right now it’s cold and ever so pretty out there.
That is a lot of snow
Dianne when Andrew was here to plowed he asked that I take a little tour of town while he tried to plow snow to side of drive so I’d have access to back entrance so I drove over to mail boxes, climbed across 3ft snow bank only to find parcel box unit frozen so drove to post office and told them, stressed not to return to sender..she said to try later this aft and hopefully I’d have access.
Just waiting to see how day goes I.e. snow..was quite something this morning seeing everyone with vehicles on the road, snow blowers going, tractors and such, smiled, don’t see that when you are out at 5a.m. Was just me myself and I
Paining, took a bath, sprayed myself with an anaesthetic type spray and am laying feet up..goal for the day if it doesn’t snow isa trip to the dump, have two office chairs on casters and a vacuum to rid myself of, groceries and pick up meds, would give me whole weekend to myself not having to go out.
And that my friends is my story
I hope it quits snowing soon. Looks like you have had enough for a bit.
Just got back from town, everything is slow moving..imagine it’s from the extreme cold and exhaust creating ice..slippery as old heck
Went to dump, did groceries, sale on at Maurice’s so bought another blouse, pharmacy and was ready for home, took all my time to lift the bags of groceries because I’m so sore...
But, big but. I got my Santa WRren Christmas box..imoverwhelmed, there was a lot of ooohs and ahhh but inside had healants to ease the aches and make me feel better..
Tonight I’ll have a bath using dianne’s Bath salts ball, my favourite scent, will get out of the tub and slip into a lovely pair of slippers, they look absolutely cozy, then I get to make a cup of hot chocolate in a glass Canadian moose mug..I’ll be able to get comfy and look at the community cookbook she sent, glanced already and look forward to going through it..as well there are treats after treats, I’m in awe..
Big smile when I came across the roll of life savers..when a kid I’d go wild when they were included 8n a gift..can’t remember though on the box there being as game.
Also a lovely family boxed canvas with the true meaning of family, already hanging up..
Big sigh, treats for Ziggy, shall I let him have some after bee8n so bad, will leave that for Dianne to decide..
More ohhhs and ahhhs, St.Patricks day socks, must set them near the quilts I take out for that special occasion..
Love the dish mat, heard they work wonders..there is plenty more..must go peruse my treasures
You were more than generous Dianne, I so thank you
Best I eat my Chinese before getting into all that candy. Lol
See that lovely card..am sure it’s a card taken in her yard..beautiful,even the snow lol
Oh my goodness..what a special box of treats. Those slippers will keep your feet warm.
Very nice box of gifts to open on a blustery day. I agree those slippers look very cozy.
How fun!! Ya made a HAUL there Betty!
That I did, might even bake some cookies today from the cookbook, just need to see if I have peanut butter..
Woke up and can’t fall back to sleep, looked outside and ihurrah, unless things change in next few hours no snow to shovel in the morning!
Wowzers, Betty what a haul! Lovely Christmas Exchange present box goodies!
We had rain yesterday and suppose to have rain tomorrow and Tuesday. Yesterday was Vern's 86th Birthday. I picked up 3 different pies from Marie Calendars. I do not bake and he could not make up his mind. So I got a lemon, banana cream and chocolate. He has really enjoyed the banana cream. Our 45th anniversary is the 17th. His daughter was here for his birthday. She is 57. He knew her but barely.
He has been admitted to hospice. At home care and they feel it could be 6 months to a year but he is getting weaker every day. He looked right at me the other day and told me I needed to call Sharon and tell me he was going to be a few days late. He keeps thinking we are moving and he also keeps thinking we left the dogs and cats behind. They have tested fr a UTI and it is not a UTI. I have attached a photo of us same year we got married. He was 41 and I was 31.
We knew we would get to this point in our life but it seems sooner than we thought. I guess we lost track that we were getting old.
He does not really know this is hospice. I still have my morning help and they are going to help get him to bed. I didn't want the word hospice used because I thought it would alarm him. He still has his sense of humor and eats a good breakfast (at lunch time) and dinner. He has stopped drinking coffee and does no longer like most sweets. His daughter was alarmed at what a mess he made when he ate. I told her to not worry about it. I was there to clean up and he did not want to be fed. She also thought he needed a hospital bed and I told her we, Vern and I, had discussed that and he wanted to stay in the bed with the animals and me. So it was an usual visit with his daughter. She lives in the state of Washington, thank you God.
You are the first I have told. Just keep us in your prayers but we are both doing fine. I have been dealing with this for over 2 years and have learned a lot. One thing for sure, do not sweat the small stuff. And you can either laugh or cry and laughing feels better. My son, the doctor, is the one that told me to get him into hospice. He said most individuals go in way to late.
Sharon, I pray that hospice is the additional resource and care that you and Vern need. They can be such a blessing!! I understand about being in the bed with your pets as long as possible.
Morning all, imagine, foggy, warmer temps and raining, what a difference from last week. Have the front door open, gives living room extra light, enjoying that..Greg always has a fit that I do so in w8nter, says not a wonder hydro is high, I remind him I’m the one paying the bill so not to worry ...lol
How is your weather girls in your neck of the woods? Thinking to myself, last week I fretted over the shovelling, this week it’s flooding..big sigh
I spread ice salt along the pathway to basement entrance, still icy, girls are suppose to come this morning, maybe it would be better to wait til next, sure wouldn’t want them to fall and break a limb.
My heart goes out to you Sharon, I like you am glad that his daughter lives far away and her visits are few and far between.,who best knows his needs but you!! Happy belated birthday to Vern..yummy pies, you sure do spoil home..can’t imagine seeing him slip away mentally and not be able to do anything about it.
So this hospice is within your home? I always associate hospice with an away from home facility.
Best I finish my coffee and muffin, if the girls are coming they will be arriving shortly so off I go
Most of the time, hospice is in a medical facility, but if the family wishes, it can be at home.
Sending lots of hugs and prayers for you Sharon.
We had home hospice care for my mother. There was nothing to be done for her at the hospital except hook her up to a bunch of lines. Not what anyone wanted.
Hugs to you both Sharon for this part of your journey.
Good morning,
Sharon, sending big hugs. Hospice is a WONDERFUL organization, and helped me immensely with my Mom. They help you as much as they help the patient.
Betty, do you remember Hospice came to my house for my Mom? They were here daily, or more if I needed help with just a phone call.
Can you believe it, it was 17 just few days ago, and today supposed to be near 60!
I am working on some cleaning projects and organizing, and making more of a mess than I started with. WHY is that!
Hugs to all
Debbie
Think LIndakay Babs was on sewing thread??
Just incase I’m wrong “happy Birthday Babs..I’ll not say have a sunshine day as I know you got snow..
Debbie, I do remember the help you had for your mom..many years ago now. Yes, our weather is like yours, feels like spring but not lol. Called Pete’s repair, he is com8ng to get my snowblower and see if it can be servIced after sitt8ng for 6 years but only used a couple of times. Jeff said he would look at it this weekend but I thought I’d send it out, save him the trip...Pete has a workshop so much easier.
Just got back from Midland, Janice was telling me shoe store had good boots, reg $210 on for $105. So bought a pair.
As for cleaning and organizing what a mess you make,
while in town and bought some small space bags, going to organize my fabric and projects and store them, this afternoons to do...the jar to do was too wash, clean front deck so am taking on another.

We're really snowing and COLD, between the wind and cold it is miserable out there, no shoveling required though!
It will do me good to stay home and work. I am happy I had not called Walla Walla and asked to see their van. That road is NOT fun in bad weather.
Yahoo, possible snow day tomorrow for Pat..
Became a couch potato..should head downstairs but am thinking hot bath, hot chocolate and feet up would be nice.
Snowblower gone for repair, let’s hope he gets it going, he seemed positive that he could..
Did not accomplish anything worthwhile, a haircut and nap. NOT a satisfying day.
Nice to hear you did nothing much today Pat, well deserved downtime..
I’m laying awake listening to sump pump come on, running continually..who to heck needed mild temps amd rain after having 70cm of snow last week..guess I should try amd sleep what what will be will be
Getting ready to head to San Antonio to see surgeon for gallbladder surgery. Hopefully I get a date soon.
I hope your pump works good Betty.
I can't imagine having the worry of flooding each time. Sump pumps are not a needed thing here, even with basements.
We had to put in a sump pump here. I know its needful but now a worry about it failing or the power going out.
We had one house before with a sump pump and I swore never again... wasn't one here but still needed. I had to give in, very ungraciously I might add.
They are no fun for sure..don’t want to break down and have a nap after not sleeping a good part of the night, know I’ll be listening for the pump tonight, big sigh, maybe a short one later.
Was talking to SUZANNE about my woes, she said she was lucky where she lives, wouldn’t you know it, she went to put laundry on and here she has a flood, don’t think she has a sump pump..feel badly for her.
Girls just left, in looking for fabric for a quilt that June and I want to make I ended up with one heck of a mess, no to purge organize and restock the shelves..
Going to have lunch then do my daily to do, not too excited about wiping down all the hanging pictures of dust but that is today’s task grrr
With sun shinning in you can see cat hair all over, that is first on my list, vacuum and dust. Big difference in the drive way..Ziggy is in/out so lots of muddy foot prints
Hoping the construction is done soon here. We clean and the next day is just as bad. You wouldn't think work in the basement would make dust on the second floor.
Back from San Antonio. Surgery is next Friday morning at 9:30.
A week Friday LIndakay? How long will, they keep you the Hospital? That is,quick, right? Bet you just want it done and over with.
Karen idmsay it travels through the furnace ducts but likely you don’t haven’t the, the, furnace on.
Just did all my med thing, going to get comfy in bed..worked hard today and with not sleeping much last night I’m zonked..
