That will be quite an undertak8ng..

Lonesome kind of day..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I have a little touch up to do where the painters pulled off finish of the fiber ceilings etc but have the entry wall done. It was a combination of what I KNEW I wanted and what Kev wanted that was whimsical. My writing on the wall is a decal and removeable (but not reusable) and the arrows are chalk board poster board with "chalk paint" attached to the wall lightly with mounting tape. I can easily remove it in a year or so when I am tired of it. I will try to get pictures taken and posted later today.

Betty, we are in Maryville, TN. Just below Knoxville in fact where the airport is. Yes we are all together and it's going well. We each have our own area for when we need time alone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good news I guess..didn’t realize they were, going to move in with you..i know you love the kids nearby..

Look forward Pat to photos of your whimsical.

Snow is coming down big time, decided if I didn’t go out amd shovel by morning there would be too much for me..about 8” since this morning..know one thing, next time I’m out to town it’s a good pair of mitts for me, hands are soooo frozen

Running a bath, need to defrost..I think I’ll be going out one more time before bed.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My son was outside doing something I had asked him to do and complained that his hands were cold. I told him "silly goose, there are plenty of gloves in the drawer!" next thing I knew he was sporting the only pair of my texting gloves that I had!!! (You know, those gloves that have a different material on the fingers so your phone will let you text in them) he laughed and said, "YOU told me get some gloves on!"

Victoria Harbour, ON

Too funny Pat..he sounds like a character...if I spent more time outside think I’d invest in those battery heated ones.

Decided I’m going to have chicken lemon rice TV dinner, I worked hard enough today.

Know I’ll be out one more time shovelling but I’ll be doing it in my jammies 🤣

Wonder how Dianne and Debbie and Deb are making out in this storm?

Weather report

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Our weather is mild but changing in the next couple days. Even a forecast of some of the white stuff. Not worried, it won't last.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrr it -28c out there this morning..with the storm I shovelled 3 times yesterday, takes about an hour each time, not a wonder I was tired and slept well well till 4am.

Woke thinking about all the plowing Andrew would have to to, while thinking I thought if I got shovell8ng before he came and pushed in small increments the snow into the drive I wouldn’t have to lift the shovel and throw its content over the banks and Andrew could just push it further in so out I went at 4:30am..not even 6 so going to be a long day, maybe an afternoon nap is in my future.

Watching Barrie news, big clipper moving in this afternoon, 15-20 cm so more shovelling in my future..didn’t I say winter to date had been an easy one? Oh well like seeing seasons in their rightful order, means nice spring weather for my gardens.

Karen, bet you are thrilled not worrying about these big storms lol
Are there gardens on the property?

Time for another coffe

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

There are just a few things planted here Betty. Jess and I are making plans. There is a good space for a veggie garden and we have a lot of flowers and shrubs we want to plant also. I have been saving names & photos of things to plant for years. Not being able to up north had me making lots of wish lists. There is some earth moving that has to be done first. We need to fill in quite a bit around the house itself to get proper drainage going on.

I've had dog shows from last Weds through Sun, I enjoy them, but with the cold weather and snow, I'm exhausted. But a good circuit of shows.

Temps are better today, but we're getting snow, 7-9" they say. Weds is supposed to be our worst, last I heard highs of -15, lows -25. Still deciding if I will even venture out to work in that!

It sounds like you all as staying busy!

Guess I should get busy!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

How did your dogs do Deb?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I just had one entered, she was awarded Best of Opposite Sex (a male won Best of Breed) or Select Bitch every day, and earned 6 more points toward her Grand Champion title. These were small shows, but close to home, so that was nice. She just loves going to the shows, and she learned quickly that men in suits at the shows usually have treats in their pockets! She'll go up to anyone to check them out!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will have so much fun Karen planning a garden and what to plant..there were a few wild iris germ few lilac bushes and that was it..now it’s a jungle, all those hardens, hidden areas, trees and shrubs.

Makes going to the show well worth it doesn’t it Deb. Are you getting more snow than normal? How is your new vehicle, are you liking it?

Brrr cold out there, storming, minute I go out my fingers freeze, hard when there is a lot of shovelling to do so took a run into Walmart and bought a hat and mitts, yikes, not cheap but worth it if I don’t freeze when outside.

Stopped at foodland and bought supper, chicken just cooked a d scalloped potatoes look so yummy soooo no cooking for me

Hard to believe you didn't have mittens or a hat Betty. My joints hurt, just thinking of those cold temperatures.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I don't think we're getting any more snow than a usual winter, it's just that it's coming all at once. We went from Thanksgiving weekend until a little over a week ago with nothing, and above normal temperatures, and now we're catching up all at once!

The car is nice for dog shows, but, winter driving is interesting. It's rear wheel drive, and the back of the van has no seats, it's just a big empty box, so starting up on a snowy street, the tires spin a bit. I've got over 400 lbs of dog food in the back, spread out evenly over the rear axel, so I think the extra weight helps a bit (and no shopping for dog food for several months!).

Your new hat looks nice and warm!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just regular ones LIndakay but I needed something warmer..

We’ve had a great winter here as well Deb and like you say, all came at once..blowing like crazy, poor visibility. Do you have snow Tires?

Was just thinking, bought chicken and scalloped potatoes for $5.99 and will do 2 meals..why cook lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Seems like I worked all day and got NOTHING accomplished. Collected all the necessary documentation to submit, had to down load stuff right and left and make a trip to Walmart to collect the information regarding my husband's glasses and then walked off and left important documents at home. Grrrrrrrrrrr… and no time to go back before closing.

When MD tells you it will be a little uncomfortable - DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY- that was what they were taught to say when it's going to hurt like hell. had the nerve conduction test this morning. I do have carpel tunnel but MD said he would send full report to my referring MD. If it won't ease the pain I am not certain I will consider it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, I know several friends that had that surgery. Every one was glad they had it done. My neighbor had both of her hands fixed. 6 months apart. No complaints.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I guess with the what I feel like as a recent hand surgery for the thumb, and no improvement, I am scared i'll have SAME results!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, I hated that test, I was terribly nervous through the whole thing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

sorry that I've been MIA - busy few days
Calgary on Saturday, church on Sunday then church AGM - 2 1/2 hours (we're now both on the Board)!! Followed by Handbell Concert. Got home about 5pm - it was wonderful
went to coffee at the Senior's Centre this morning, and now working on the large prayer shawl

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, been out shovelling for last hour, was almost done when Andrew arrived, He cleared a pathway for me so I could park on the road for him to push back all the banks, talk about snow, I now feel I have a Walmart parking lot to park.

It’s nice and clear right now, the are calling for more snow but hoping not...girls come this morning if weather stays the same.

Expensive for hat and gloves, got to tell you it’s worth paying $$$ for down filled, not cold in the least.

Coffee time, roadside garbage, bath time then I can come back and chat about your day yesterday..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We even got two inches of snow here. Mild temps, so it won't last long.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes Karen, won’t stay long though..girls are here, soon to leave,I hanker8ng for Chinese, might take a ride into midland later this aft if it stops sewing and get some

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I should invest in some good down mittens and hat, I'm sure I'd love them! My coworker gave me a beautiful hot pink & black plaid scarf from Victoria's Secret (she works there part time as 2nd job).

I did my usual "stress crying" while they did the nerve test. It did not hurt bad enough to cry but that's sure what I did. Since I was laying down the tears ran into my ears and had to take out my hearing aids. not that I could hear anything with my head on that pillow in a paper pillow case!!

I am going to try and alter a pair of pants for Ben before I go to bed. He can't get any pants or shorts off the shelf and wear it as it comes. legs are different length AND I sew ON elastic suspenders directly to each pair of pants. The other regular kind just don't work that great for him. The clip/jaws kind come undone or chew up his clothes. Others, you either sew buttons or hammer on the bachelor buttons and hope you don't lose them or they gouge him. Better to just sew on elastic for him.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, talk about frigid, we got 2 -3 inches of snow overnight, body asked if we could wait until later to shovel, best I not wait too long as another big storm approaching.

Pat our are so good to Ben, look8ng after his everyneed..shaking my head, hope in your efforts to please everyone you soon get time to enjoy yourself.

Don’t know where the time went yesterday, girls stayed a tad later than normal, all pleased as heck with their day then the rest of the day just went..I ended up going into town for a few things, went to Home Depot for paint drop cloth for pillows ..suzanne’s Birthday tomorrow, want to make her one, next I buy I’ll try Canadian tire and see if they have different make, testing for quality. Giant tiger had tops on sale so had to pick one up..lol

Susan you sure are a busy lady..you are brave going on executive as a lot of time it’s caused you such hardships.

Know I’m missing some of you, embroidery has stopped to best get it taken off of machine..doing scroll work with her last name inserted..know she will love it

Lyndonville, NY

We have the cold starting here, schools are closed next two days, but it is in the early stages of everything dropping. is -3f right now, with feels -11f, they say will drop to -35.

Had a laugh, put my little electric lap blanket on, went to get coffee and came back to find the dog and 2 cats (who all hate each other) sleeping on sofa all touching the warm blanket.

We have about 8 inches snow, but depending which way wind blows tonight could get another foot.

All stay warm and safe
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Avery much the same here Debbie, wind is up now and from time to town can’t see cross the road..Andrew just plowed, guesshe is trying to keep on top on top of things.

And they say animals are stupid ..well you just crawl right back beside them and let them love you up..not a doubt.

Was vacuuming the back room and dusting, don’t know why, door is closed and nobody goes in..but was thinking of the pond, flower gardens underneath their winter coat and wonder how they survive.

My view earlier today

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - the only "exec" position that really caused me probs was the Community Centre - I was told it wa a bad idea to join them, but was also begged because they Needed the help.
As for the new ones - I know the people on the boards, so I'm already comfortable with the people.

Hope all those with cold temps are hunkering down & keeping warm!!
We went to Olds today, to get Vulnerable Sector clearances for us to volunteer at the bowling lanes. Going to take 3 more days for Bob & it will take 9 days to get the info from the RCMP.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant just after you were wirk8ngnyounjoinedbabfew clubs, memory doesn’t serve me that well what group it was but know you were devastated by state of affairs..

Work8mg at the bowl8ng alley would be mega fun for you both..yep, anytime one comes 8n contact with children rcmp have to check the person..Janice that comes to sew worked for Ontario provincial police, her job was doing clearances..she said she had to read every line to determine wether or not to clear.

Can hear the wind outside..was going to look but then I’d be dreaming of how many shovels I’ll have to lift in the morning.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Not only the RCMP, but also Child & Family Services, for Vulnerable Sector. The RCMP were for a Criminal Check. (hehehe what they don't know won't hurt them, eh? just kidding - Bob & I are squeaky clean when it comes to criminal activity!!)
Boy though - CFS really wanted a lot of info - DOB for all our children, and their full names - why so thorough? Is it to prove we are who we say we are?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Lordy it’s cold and talk about snow..went out at 5:15 right out of jumping out of bed, trying to beat Andrew, which I did, just came in over 1 1/2 hrs, talk about sore, just adding more onto this past weeks shovelling woos. Talk about peaceful though, so serene. Schools are closed, not a wonderw..wonder how Dianne and Debbie are doing?

Susan they are indeed through, guess they check children in case there are issue etc etc..good thing they do and some pass through the screenings.

No housework to do, all done yesterday, can’t go out for the squalls so guess I’ll play, wish some of you lived closer so you could join me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wouldn’t you know I’m in the red zone. Grrr
More shovelling ahead, not so bad shovelling but where to put it without lifting shovel to reach over 4’ snow bank

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That winter storm is nasty. I saw on the news it will get worse before it gets better. Betty won't your snowblower work better than shoveling?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Haven’t used it in many years, only used it twice, will have to get it checked but won’t be this year.

got out of wet clothing so will get dressed again and go shovel again, that is how fast it’s coming down

And here I thought I’d have a sew sew day, looks like I’ll be going out every few hours I order to keep up with storm

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Goodness Betty, you are much hardier soul than me.... NO way could I do all that shoveling!!
I took 2 hours off work yesterday and played hooky with Sis, we went to thrift stores and just had fun. barely made it home before my 'curfew". I tell Ben to be IN the bedroom and ready to unwrap by 8.15 so I really had to scoot to make it! Didn't even had dinner!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you got some sister time and enjoyed yourself.

Been out again and could believe the snow..

Time to get dressed again and make another round

Verona, ON

Betty there is a parcel ready for pick up a your PO.

Bitter cold here. We had to be plowed 3 times in 8 days.. It's sunny but that is not fooling me.

Just trying to catch up.BBL
