Betty, have you tried CBD or THC edibles? You're in Canada so it's legal for us. I've found 1:4-1:8 THC:CBD edibles to be very, very effective on my neuropathy, which is quite similar to fibro. I also make my own THC edibles when I need a really strong kick. It's not for everyone, but it's worth mentioning. My MIL has fibro and she found it pretty effective.
It snowed here last night but, one of the good things about apartment living is not having to shovel snow! It didn't snow much, only about 5-6cm (2" or so), just enough to make things look pretty.
The sedum leaves were fairly easy to prop, I was really surprised!

Best/Worse/What did I learn today, visit with friend old/new..all welcome to join us chat!
Everyone tells me to ask my doc to prescribe, guess I’m old school and hate to try lol
I’ll have to try a sedum
Only drawback to living in a home it’s lots of property is the shovelling..have Andrew who does major plowing with truck but rest is up to me. So far this winter has been an easy one.
Dante, we are so glad to learn about you and welcome you into the group!! I don't get as much time for gardening as I would like but I'm all about the flowers, I know I SHOUD plant a few edibles but flowers ALWAYS win out with me!
Nope, did not finish the bathroom!! functional but still needs a few pieces of trim, towel & Tp racks as well as shower rod, THEN done. I can hardly wait!! They really struggled with getting the fit and locking vinyl perfect. Got the new exterior door in and functional, trim around it still needs to happen. I'm hoping Kevin and I can get the bedrooms exchanged this coming weekend and I can go back to working on single bedroom.
My sis Marie thought she had a 10.30 massage appt and it was 12.30. She called me and I met her in town, we shopped at thrift store & we had quick lunch, she promptly got violently ill. Diaherra and threw up. I took her massage appt. Imagine, 2 days in a row of massage, oh my!! I called and checked on her later this afternoon and she was feeling much better. She said she had felt "off" for past 2 days but not sick ( until this afternoon's "gastro storm!" )
I bought a few things in town but have not even brought it into the house yet!! Raining like crazy, I am chilled and unmotivated.
Looked at my left hand/thumb today and I have about 3 inch square of bruised area where my ortho was examining my hand Monday. Doc has changed my anti-inflammatory meds.
Morning all,
Going to have to brave the weather this morning, there is a lul in the falling snow but to start back up big time..drats just when I had the shovelling under contro. Lol
Weather warning in effect.
I called carpenters yesterday to see when they are coming to get the in-line water unit done and battery installed for the no hydro system, seems the unit was lost in transit. Always something.
Just noticed it was awfully hot in here, looked at the thermometer, I have it set at 73 and it’s 76..screen is going off and on so imagine battery needs repkac8ng, a little tricky to get it odpff the wall so will call Greg and see if he is back from Sudbury if he can drop in and change it.,need the fire alarm battery changed as well so he can get both done.
Got morning chores under control, finishing my coffee then on my way out to shovel as it’s starting to snow again, looks light and fluffy, sure hope so, then the day is for me, more playing in the craft room..maybe I will finally tackle that floral panel Sharon gave me last year for my birthday.
Pat sorry to hear your sister is unwell, maybe a touch of that flu, hoping nothing you can catch. Wonderful that only little things remain in the reno’s, now don’t you be starting something new or we will all be after you, it’s time for DOWN TIME for you missy! Did the doc say the hand just needs more healing time.
Betty, you need to. Use the snowblower. Let it save you shoulder pain.
42 here this morning. Supposed to be 64 today.
Getting ready for quilting group. Most of them are at a quilt retreat, so I don't think many will show up today.
Good morning,
Debbie sent her snow here. We will definitely need a plow but Dave usually waits until the snow stops.
Betty you should contact the Guidance Counselor at your local HS asking for a reliable student to shovel. This year I caved and hired young Keiran my garden helper to shovel and he also does Frank's now. I just got thinking even though I take care of Frank's most of the year why should I be shoveling the steps at his place while he was warm in Cairo.
Welcome Dante/Phoenix I love both of your names.
The TH and I were out for a wee walk. They snow plowed to their heart's delight and made several dog angels. The temp is almost balmy after what we have had.
I have a terrible cold but am grateful that so far it is just a head and sinus cold. My ears and throat are throbbing. I haven't had a cold in years so sure didn't expect 1 this year.
LK would you consider going on a quilt retreat ?
Pat you are moving right along with your renos. It's so hard when you live where you are doing the work. At 1 house we were without a shower for days so used to shower at my Phys Ed office at the school.
Susan are you getting all this cold and snow too?
Stay safe, warm and well.

Oh Dianne, are you using salt water gargle? Will help with the throat somewhat.
My allergist swears by Netti Pots but I can't use one for the life of me.
We are getting the freezing rain right now, I hope it misses you.
Dianne I had taken Sam off of his "calming" pills, and after 5 days, I caved this morning as he got up barking at everything that moved and is chasing the cats so badly. He is now sleeping on the back of the couch with a cat at his feet.
Betty, as Dianne said, hire a teen or such. AND you are helping them also with a few spending dollars. It is a win win situation.
I would love to go to a retreat, but with 2 house dogs, it is hard to leave them in the house all day. Maybe some day.
I found getting together with girls sharing ideas was far better than retreats..come spend same $$$ on flight and spend week here with me and some sewers lol of course someone will have to tend to dogs as they don’t like planes..lol
I did try to find youth via school..kids of age to shovel take bus very early in a.m. amd it’s dark when they get home..not that bad really, besides I need to exercise.
Right now it’s raining, I went out and shovelled again to get rid of slush so steps and walkway won’t end up a skating rink, will go out tomorrow morning and buy a bag of salt.
Worked hard in my sew8ng room, finished the 2 ‘to do’s I had on my schedule..pork roast almost ready..best I cook tatters and veggies as I’d like an early night, this work tires me out
Some day I will take you up on that offer.
Nope, wrist needs more than "rest". It appears the prosthetic has impinged on bone and they may have to take it out. I don't intend to worry about it. I'll know more after next Monday's nerve conduct testing.
I did not realize that the contractors were putting up a couple of rows of tile above shower and as back splash so not finished today. Oh well.
I stopped at Home Depot and had them cut wood for 2 of my projects. A "booster stand" for Ben's computer. he can slid his laptop under the top and store the cookbooks above the "booster stand".
Other project is to make a cover for the air conditioner in our bedroom. It is big in wall unit that we do not use because we have ductless heat pump now. We don't want to take it out in case we ever have problems with heatpump. But it's UGLY. I'm making a frame to cover it and will either make a piece of art to fit over it or customize a purchased piece.
Morning all, -2 with a high of -4, went to roadside to get garbage bins that I didn’t go get yesterday and felt it was mild lol. Going to finish my coffee and head to foodland, need bag of ice salt as it’s all ice out there and the pathway would be dangerous for the girls coming tonight.
Ther than that nothing to do, all my chores done..have seen a little project I’d like to try and make, no measurement so would have to fake it lol
LIndakay any timePat, you will have to show the booster unit when done.
Off to finish my coffee the foodland I go
Be careful going out on that ice Betty. No whoop Dee doo's allowed. Put table salt on your steps.
I’ve liquid for steps LIndakay..bought a 10kg bad of ice salt, about as heavy as I want to drag around..spread the entire area they walk to basement steps
Welcome Dante / Phoenix! A fellow Canadian 😊 I live 1 hr NE of Calgary, so quite a-ways from you, but closer than some here
Betty - I do the same stitch for all the prayer shawls. 1 row is K3, P3 all the way across, and 2nd row is K. Depending upon the wool, I do 51, 63 or 75 stitches. Gives it a nice ribbed design.
Yes, we did get snow, Dianne - soft fluffy stuff, but about 6". It's going to be warm Saturday - about 6c / 43F
That's when we go to Calgary, to visit friends. I'm making a lap quilt for one, so really working hard on it - handstitching the binding now, then will tie it with blue embroidery floss.
On the drive to Calgary whille my hubby's driving, I'll be working on the next prayer shawl, for a big man - 6ft5" and about 300 lbs, so it's a large shawl. If I don't get it done, I'll at least have one shawl finished, the one I got done in baby wool.
Morning all, just finishing coffee then it’s shovel time, Andrew has already been.
It’s a cold one, just looked at weather forecast, a stay in dayfor sure..decided I would work on Muskoka block for solstice quilt, been dragging far too long.
That will be one heck of an undertaking Susan, he is a biggg man lol
Dianne, how is the weather in your neck of the woods? Have the TH been for a ride in your new wheels? Final question, how is the knee?
Coffee nearing empty, wish I’d bought some muffins, refrained from doing so as I was eating fartoo many and putting on weight but this morning would be nice to shovel then come in to goodies, guess I could go to foodland lol
Here's the lapquilt I made my friend Anne - visiting her & John tomorrow, plus our friend Doug. Looking forward to seeing them all again. Anne gets so cold, I hope this lapquilt helps. Simple tied one, cuz I wanted to get it to her, so she can use it. Printed the pictures using freezer paper & my inkjet printer.
That is awesome. She is going to love it.
You just know she will love it Susan, just the thought you made it for her and amount of work put into doing so will warm not only her but her heart..nothing like getting something homemade.
Mom called today, hinted a bit about going stateside..told her family daylong weekend would be good providing good weather..she is being very quiet in her talks with me, doesn’t want to ruffle my feathers lol
Thank you, Betty
lol she's treading carefully around you, and that's a good thing! About time she considered your feelings!
Will only last so long Susan lol
Thought had snow/squall hadmoved on I’d go gor Chinese nut not to be..glad I had left over pork roast, veggies and salad, had early supper, laying down yawning, wouldn’t take me muvpch to nap
Morning all, feels like noon hour since I’ve been up so early..I’d say we are close to 1 foot of snow since yesterday morning when I shovelled, this morning wasn’t as easy but after an hour of shovelling I was ready for Andrew, moved my car so he could do a good clean up..he said he would see me in the morning as they are calling for same over next 3-4 days..right now it’s the calm before the storm, thinking if there is anything I need in town I should go now.
Canadian tire has vacuum cleaner on sale, sale ends today or tomorrow, I only have a 7x10 rug but I could vacuum a few times a day for cat hair and it seems it’s just doing a good job, have a vac downstairs but not about to carry it up and down that would be asking for trouble.
No housework to do other than vacuuming..when you live alone and do shores in the ‘to do’ jar doesn’t leave much work so plenty of time to play.
Photo of snow banks don’t give you how high they are, starting to have to shovel, lift it and throw it over.
Guess my boys are excited with all this snow, machines will be out all day for sure. Jeff, he is in Quebec skiing at Mount Tremblant, I posting photo of pretty little ski area.
I’m warmed up now so best I decide what I want to do
Why aren't you using your snowblower? It will be easier on your neck and shoulders.
back from town, says -26c, not a wonder I was cold and now sniffling.
I could have driven for hours, what a winter wonderland, town was so quiet as everyone is shovell8ng andplow8ng themselves out...think there was only about 3 people in Canadian tire and about same in in groceries and Giant Tiger...other stores open at 10 just as well I headed home, spent my allowance before 9:00 lol
Saw on my embroidery sites that nice pillows were made out of paint tarps, sawcurtain panel in about same fabric for $6.99 so thought I’d try it before buying a 7x14 tarp..of course I needed a blouse, space bags and they had this miniature light that I thought maybe I could fit under sewing machine to give more light when sewing..I’ll try that. Not sure if I picked the right vacuum, it’s a Bessel power lifter swivel pet, Ziggy checked it out , seems pleased so hope it does what it says with animal hair.
going to have coffee and a muffin then take it out of the box and test drive it lol
Man, it looks like *everyone's* getting snowed on! Myself included!
Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome, I'm happy to be a part of such a positive community. :)
I'm having just a ton of luck with my propagation efforts. The burro's tail leaves that survived are all plump and rooting (3 of 6 survived, which is good considering the poor things were left outside all winter). I've been giving them all a good mist every other day or so and they seem really happy.
The weather's cold and snowy. I'm inside pretty much all the time next to my heater. It's helping my plants flourish so, I'm not complaining!
Aside from that, I got a couple new e-cig toys that I've been having fun experimenting with. I write reviews of the stuff I buy for online forums so, that's one way I kill time. It's really just me at home most of the time so I go a little stir-crazy. My nerve pain affects my mobility so I don't get out much.
I used to threatened my cat with a shortcut in cleaning, vacuuming the SOURCE - HER!!
No snow here, it is end of January and we had a skiff of snow one day. I am NOT complaining about our Freak winter, although feeling a little guilty since so many are getting SLAMMED.
Like you said though Betty, isn't the snow PRETTY and quiet??!!
Lots to do here so I best get with it.
Winter wonderland, love looking at how the snow looks on different things
Storm starting to move in, guess I’ll have to go shovel before end of day.
Feels like threatening Ziggy with more than the vacuum hose Pat..
Ziggy was looking out the window and there was a kitty much like he, I got up to see and Ziggy attacked me, side of my leg and back of my leg. Grrr
Big sigh
This message was edited Jan 26, 2019 2:08 PM
OUCH!!! Ziggy must have been really upset by the intruder on his territory to take it out on you like that.
Ouch is right. Make sure you clean it good.
Had a hot bath and added salve...passed him a few times, he knows he is in trouble, he is on couch in basement..I went to shut light off and said bad bad Ziggy..he knows lol
I spent an hour in the front landscape trimming 4 roses and cleaning up some creeping jenny that got whacked from our 2 day freeze. Vern was taking a nap and I have an alert he has next to him that will alert me if he needs me. I took an hour to trim 4 buses but also just sat in the landscape and took a few deep breaths. We are having left overs for dinner so I had a few moments to get on here and say hello.
Betty, my cat will do that every once in a while but it is usually when she is laying by me on the couch and I move my arm and startle her. What those scratches. If they are going to go bad, they usually do it in a few hours.
Vern is having good day. His birthday is Friday. He will be 86. His daughter will be here from Vancouver, Washington. I also have hospice people and physical therapy individuals coming over. She wanted to put him in hospice 2 years ago. My son says he should be in hospice and most people wait to long. He is a doctor in Spokane so I will listen to him. He said hospice is good and can renewed every 6 months and they are very helpful showing how to transfer fro wheelchair to his chair or bed. It is getting harder for me. Caregiver in the mornings is a tremulous help but I do not want someone under foot all the time. We shall see what they say.
I have been thinking about gardening and I think I will get up early, when i warms up, and garden before he wakes up. We go to bed at 10pm and he sleeps through 10am. That would give me my several hours I need.
So pleased everyone is staying well. Hugs to you all. Sharon
Oh man... LOOK at those projected temperatures!! I have NOTHING to complain about, ya, we're not as warm as you, but we are not being slammed with snow.
Pretty cool here but kids still played outside. Jess, Sammi & I poked around a few stores, starting with a fabric shop. They had a spinner at purchase and I won 24% off. Pretty happy with that.
We are supposed to get some snow about Tues. but not much 1-2"
Morning, squalls started about an hour ago, calling for same all day and into evening and snow most of the week..cold out there brrrr
Karen fabric shops, in town where you live? That must make you smile..think if I moved again that would be a requirement..do the kids and their parents now live with you? Cold but much different than MI
Sharon am glad that you will take the advice of your son, difficult to make such a decision. I always smile when I hear you talk of your beautiful gardens, so pleased I got to enjoy them.
Guess it’s another day housebound, that’s ok as I’ve plenty to do!
Going to start on the last block of Solstice quilt, trees and birdhouse, hoping I’ll be able to get this one done then the blocks are ready to Applique, then I can finish putting top together this week then all I need is to buy the backing, quilt and it’s finally done. Hate this block a month projects, drag on far too long.
How about you all, what do you have planned for the day?
Love itl8ndakay, am sure she will be grilled..what a keepsake! Now what will you do?
Waiting on flannel from the lady that asked me to make the denim rag quilt. Jeans are all cut, just waiting on the flannel.
