I was showing the Labor Day walk across the Mackinac Bridge. It's the only day the bridge is open to pedestrians for the 5 mile walk. It's a tradition for hundreds and for some reason the governor usually walks it too

Boy is it down pouring. We are under a flash flood watch.
Morning..
Yes saw it pop up on Facebook and heart stopped, for one wee second had hoped her passing was a dream! She sure was loved and is missed big time.
Thanks for the link lindakay..quite something
Was up 1/2of the night, bad storm here as well, worried about flooding, fell into a deep sleep once it passed and I didn’t get up until 8
Made my coffee and headed downstairs, will sew and who know, this afternoon might get outside for a bit
I had the same reaction Betty, I miss Barb so very much. I had thought I'd get to hug her in person one day.
Luckily I did, she and Norm were here for part of a week, enjoyed our time tofpgether, even had Norm doing crafts and makingmorning Tim Horton coffee runs
I so envy you that Betty.
I posted a Happy Birthday to our Barb in Heaven
Holy wash, 50 this morning, Mother Nature sure is mixed up but I’m loving the cooler temps.
Not much going on in my neck of the woods nor is there much to do in the house, maybe I can tidy up the woodworking room and craft room, I’m always more productibpve when things are cleaned..maybe make another kitty pillow seeing I’ve enough fabric to do so and they are easy..
What are you up to?
Getting ready for work. I have a massage scheduled for after work. I have a whole bin of dolls that I need to comb out and style hair. It will take me hours of some these as the hair is in such bad shape.
I just filled the hummer feeders, had my shower, and getting ready to go get my nails done in about an hour.
Packing up again. We need to go retrieve our dogs from DGDs in TN. We had some unforeseen circumstances and had to come directly home after going to OBX. Dogs have had a long vacation. I know Oscar has had a good time with his brother and will be lonely here, old Molly won't play much with him although the cat will. Have some other business down there to take care of too.
Real estate company we are listed with has a guarantee that if they don't sell your house in 27 days, you pay no commission when it does sell. That will be the middle of next week so....we will see.
Poor pooches, lordy that is a long drive for you..will you spend time there? Too bad kids couldn’t meet you part way.
Trying to decide if I want to go to Orillia vs Barrie as a change, wanted to do a runner with new embroidery pattern I bought this morning and guess who has no black embroidery thread.
Might be nice to get out with windows down, enjoy fresh air
Hard to believe you don't have black thread.
Have a safe trip Karen!
Have all k8nds of black thread just not embroidery thread..bought 3 spools, $8.99 each, should have enough to do. Few runners
We will spend some time in TN. I do want to see the kids and the band in at least one game.
Here's some pictures from our Medieval outting yesterday (Red Hatters & Crown Jewels)
The two ladies with me are from my church - Audrey & Mary (and me)
The fellow next to me near the cradle is the owner of the Good Knights Entertainment - Lord Daniel :-D
Sword fight with one of the other group - Crown Jewels lol
Nice photos
thanks for sharing your photos!
Morning all, chill is in the air, high of 62 expected..still dealing with bad headache grrrr likely weather related.
Have company coming from the city around noon then the 5 of us will head out to Henry’s Fishery, the one in the mainland not the one where I took the group that came on the reunion, I will have memories of Barb and Norm as the last night they came that is where we ate..they just loved their meal..good but sad memories for sure!
Susan those photo’s are wonderful and I hope they are on front page of the gazette.
Just finished coffee, did my hair o guess I’ll go downstairs for a bit
What is in your plans for the day?
Starting with a presentation to a Korean War Veteran at noon. Then heading downstate and on to TN.
You will have made someone’s day..
Safe travels, how many hours drive?
Can't wait to see photos Karen.
Sunny but crisp Fall day here. My favourite time of year.
The TH and I can roam farther than we do in late Spring and summer. We've been out twice today and will soon go again.
Safe travels Karen.
Deb how did the dog show go ?
Went to the small local market the morning.Vendors are dwindling in numbers but all of the crops are late.
Spend a full day styling doll hair. My hand is killing me. Trying to get that project wrapped out and gone. Donating NOW, not waiting for Christmas.
Morning all, brrrr cold enough that I put the fireplace place on..
Dianne, likely we have same kind of weather, imagine Meaford time, maid I tell you the candle factory sold, no longer open to public, I alqways bought a piece of decor frame where the wharehouse section..I for one am going to miss that stop.
You and the TH will sleep well with all your fall jaunts. Guess it’s pretty quiet on the lake now that the feel of fall is in the air.
Pat, sounds like you are overworking your hand, not a good thing..even if you have to store them til next year to give yourself time to get all reno’s and self healing done.
Had a wonderful day yesterday, all arrived shortly before noon, we chatted of old times, mega laughs. Went to Henry’s and went on to tell them about Barb and Norm, where we sat, remember them ordering platter withvarous fish, they so enjoyed.
Every time linda and I went to the cemetery in Oenetang we knewsearched for her brothers tombstone, he was 3 when he passed on from pneumonia, we knew the area to look but never found the cement marker, died 6 months before I was born so many now covered with sod..knew it was in the children’s area. Larry, Linda’s brother knew exactly where it should be, we saw 2 pillows 1/2covered over, worked on them but not Leonard, Dave linda’s Hubby saw a corner of a marker, no bigger than about 3” of cement showing, we dug, pulled sod away, I rubbed with my snow brush, we could make out the d in doyle, that was a start..we worked for a good hour trying to find things to dig with, finally Larry found some stakes, between us all we were able to lift the maker, wash it off,Larry got gravel from behind the cemetery workshop and we set it back in.,he will come up before winter and do some work on it so it’s not lost again.. made our day..everyone now accounted for!
We discussed maybe another day trying to do same for other 2markers near him but thought maybe we might get into trouble...so put that on hold.
Still dealing with headache as is Joanne, she messaged me to say hers was a bad one today so maybe weather related for both of us..

Nice to finally find the marker. But a shame the cemetery let it go like that.
Very clean cemetery but guess the work involved would be overwhelming and they leave it to families, that being said their loved ones have likely passed on and younger generation not that interested..sad
I showed Larry all family tombstones and said he was in charge after my passing to do mother’s day and father’s day and special celebrations as I do now..will soon pass on torch but for now I’ll spend quiet time looking after them.
Best I not sit too long or that will be it for the day..want to put mom’s cross stitch on the frame and get it quilted, her birthday is on 17th, that will be her birthday gift so lots to do, start is getting it on the frame
Betty, I never really know, how much is too much. Physical therapy wants me working it and what I do in the way of prescribed exercises is every bit as painful as the doll project.
We are short blouses to finish up all the wardrobes and I am working on those. I sew a few, go do something I SHOULD be doing, like putting away laundry or pots & pans and then back to sew a few more. Many of the tops have been 'started" before today. Marie did a ruffled edge to knit fabric and I finish them up into little tank top type shirts with purchased colored fancy elastic etc.
Marie leaves for New York on Tuesday and I hope to have put a significant dent in the doll mess before she has to leave. Bagged up completed wardrobe & dolls and have them OUT of her house.
Big endeavour for sure..guess enough is just before it’s too much lol
Does Marie go to New York for any length of time?
Was the energizer bunny this morning but just napped for a few hours in hopes that this headache would ease off, doesn’t look like it.
Marie goes for a week or more at a time. She is babysitting the grandkids while their parents are going to be out of town. Her son-in-law Mike flies a LOT and so always has LOTS of free flights earned. Marie can go there several times a year without paying for a flight. Erin, her daughter just stopped working a few months back so now if Erin's husband Mike is going somewhere she wants to go to, Erin can go with him & Marie watch the grandkids.
It's good for Marie to spend time with the grandkids and get a break from here but sometimes it's also stressful. Right now Marie's husband is really have some knee problems etc and she is fortunate enough that his brother & wife are willing to remain local while Marie is gone. They are Snow Birds & have a huge motorhome that they park at Phil & Marie's and come & go most of the summer. Back to AZ later in the fall.
Sounds like they’ve got a good plan..hope the brands aren’t too young, would be hard on her.
Had a hot bath, put ointment on my neck in hopes it would help the headache but didn’t, can’t take many more pills or I’ll overdose
3 & 5, Marie just called her husband just fell, both of his knees just gave way & buckled getting out of the car. He was with his brother & wife, they are taking him to ER, Marie is meeting them there. Looks like trip just became questionable. I feel sorry for Marie, she has lived with complications for 5 years taking care of our Dad while her husband's health has also deteriorated. These kind of choices just stress her out beyond belief. I doubt her daughter will make it easier for her. Maybe Erin will be more understanding and "adult" about it than I give her credit for.
Here is hoping Pat his fall will not be too serious re injuries..surely her daughter will understand..these things happen..she should have an alternate sitter.
Hi - went with Bob when he went to work (janitorial, on Sunday aft's) and worked on my quilt on their boardroom table - it was quite handy!
Xrays show the artificial knees were not damaged but the bones are in REALLY poor shape. With Phil's health, it's crazy for Erin & Mike to think Marie can be a 'sure deal". I hope they had a backup plan, I doubt Marie is leaving Tuesday....
When Marie & I discussed alternative plans, we both suggested Mike's parents consider watching the kids. They are both retired and just live in New Jersey. Contact prior nanny, etc... it's not impossible, just will be a scramble. The good news is they can afford to pay any option available to them.
Got home from Colorado last night, still have the car loaded, but had to be in to work this morning. The dogs showed well, and placed in their classes, but no big wins. The weather was gorgeous all week. Friday I drove to Colorado Springs and got to spend the day with the sister of a dear friend of mine who was murdered almost 6 years ago. She and I had never met in person, but have been talking on the phone since Peter's death. She and her husband are such wonderful, sweet people. She shared with me a couple of pieces of her brother's artwork that I will treasure. It was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night! And, so hard getting up this morning! The dogs are happy to be able to run in the yard again, instead of having to be on leash all the time.
55 today, light rain and dull
See the barometer meter is quite high, likely why the headaches.
Took my blood pressure yesterday and machine wouldn’t functio, remember last time it had such a high reading that I thought it couldn’t be right so rushed out to Walmart and bought one..reading says 148/84 so not high enough for headaches.
Looked at my glass water barometer unit and it’s edging the top so likely it’s the weather. While at Walmart I bought fixings for tomatoe macaroni so know what supper will be.
Today I plan on working to finish a few projects while taking mega breaks, can’t just lay on the couch indefinitely, be a couch potatoe.
Susan, nice to have a large area to work on, sounds like you might be joining hubby every Sunday lol
Lindakay, how did your sewing gathering go the other day?
Pat, surely they understand the need for Marie to be home with her hubby??? Some people are onthe ‘it’s all about me’ cycle.
Didn’t have breakfast, was in such a hurry to get to Walmart that I didn’t makemy bed nor have a coffee, t8me for both
