Betty, call animal control. Not normal for them to lay on a roof like that.

Something is wrong, maybe was hit by a car and climbed up and can't move.
If Illness even more reason....call someone for him.

What a great idea, Betty! How many years back are you going to go - from the beginning? That would make How many years?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sad about Robert.

That bag will be beautiful when done. Are there any states you have not been too?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, here is the bag you were so thoughtful to bring with you, for me, from Canada. I wanted to take a photo of me using it before I thanked you. This is my bag today and received many complements from patrons and customers. They wanted to know where I got such a wonderful bag. I told them from a very wonderful, crafty woman from Canada.

Vern had blood clots in one leg and both lungs but lived through it. That was about 4 years ago.

My sister is here for a visit so I much go but I wanted Betty to know how much I appreciate the bag and how useful it is. And also that I am so sorry about your nephew. Same age as my children. Hugs, Sharon

I had blood clots in both lungs, and almost died due to a heart attack, but more than 2 years later, I'm here & as healthy as I can be.

Pacifica, CA

betty, oh I love it came out great

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty makes beautiful bags. I use mine, every time I travel.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, going to be another rainy day.. a sew sew day right?

Sharon, Rita and I so enjoyed out visit..your place is beyond beautiful..I could have sat and chatted all day with you..was sure great to meet the handsome Vern. Glad it is of use for you, just too bad I forgot the toggles for the closing strings..should send you some.

Niece that I made a penny rug and fall table cloth is coming for lunch..I’ve taken a break for putting Gary’s winter quilt top together, will let adhesive set then maybe once LeeAnn leaves I will quilt it..would have done it on the frame but he had just enough backing for the top, no room for attaching it..glad I had adhesive spray.

Ohhh just got a call that my lunch date has to cancel but we will do lunch when I’m in the city tomorrow and I can give her the runner.

Liz I’m anxious to go see where we travelled to last year, imagine, I cannot remember lol and I’ll find as many different reds as I can to do that trip, hmm think it involved New Orleans (love that place) so I’m thanking you big time for the bag..must see when next I go to Buffalo to joanns and see if they have any so I can buy for Linda and Suzanne.will have to sketch in on backside Canada as one year we did the Maritimes.

Ohh the raccoon has left my rooftop so guess he just needed a break

Guess I’ll have breakfast

Betty - that is lovely. So cool looking, when it's going to be a hot day today (30c). Thank you :-)
Already did some quilting, now going out to do some gardening.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Turned off a/c, opened the windows and doors, actually feels cool, nice! Birds are just a chirping, they must be liking this weather as well.

Maybe my heat moved on to you Susan, the feel like weather this weekend will hit 100

Should go out and do some trimming..I would say I’m about 1/2 done straight quilting, will add a bit of random quilting to inner blocks because they are just so big.

Keep looking at the snow design on quilt and think it’s invit8ng, remind me of these thoughts come winter lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

it was 40c while Susan was here, then it cooled down, now it's hot again. The flowers loved the cooler weather. I swear, I could almost hear them breath a sigh of relief. They certainly started to bloom again, and the grass turned green. It was "crunchy" all over the area, for lack of water, and the terrible heat!
yeah, I was thinking about how nice & cool your quilt looked, during this heat.
Bob's up on the roof, insulating it, then will need to put plywood sheets on, and the tar paper, then shingles. Our neighbour Clay helped him for a few hours, until the heat kicked in. Clay's in his 70's and his friend that he lives with said if he wasn't home by 3pm, she'd come & get him. Didn't want him out in this heat, working hard. He left @ 2:30 - didn't want her chasing him down, I guess LOL
I'm still working on my lap quilt - gets warm on my lap while working on it lol

Pacifica, CA

betty theywere at joanns at the cash wrap during 4 of july, I keep looking on line at joanns but I cant find them hopefully you will find some.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, Sun is shinning, birds are quiet, sitting onback deck taking all the greens in..again since my trip I’m noticing all the bright greens more..

Ohhh Susan think in this heat really is dangerous for men to be working out doors and even more so on roof lifting plywood..best leave it a bit to be safe. Handwork is nice when you can’t get out right?

Liz, I’ll be going stateside soon to joanns, maybe there will be some and if not I’ll look next year before the 4th. Had to laugh, I covered Utah vs Arizona, had to pick stitches and change it lol

Where is Karen, hope not unwell..

Just going to have breakfast, try to do something with this hair, needs to grow so I can get a perm, hate this straight hair, so not me..leaving here around 10 to meet up at Vaughan Mills road for shopping, girls thought just maybe we could go over to the Paramount Wonderland theme park which is next to the park...told them not to count me in, of course they were joking.

If I get myself going I just might be able to get an hour of quilting done.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got me a forest growing, can no longer see the gardens behind this section of greenery, means taking the pathways to do so

Soooo beautiful Betty!

PT 1st working appointment and I HURT. Next Monday will start the REAL work!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am working on quilt of Valor quilts. Helping a friend in Dallas. She needs 12 of these done foe Texas vets. I don't like the American flag border. Mine will have solid blue or red borders.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Wow Betty - and you were afraid the garden wouldn't grow in after putting in the fence? I would say your worries were for naught lol
Great, LK - that will look nice with a solid border. It's what I chose for the RWB lapquilt. It doesn't take away from the actual center that way.
Carol just called & asked if I wanted to go to town - YES! Chat later!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm surprised the R & W are not alternating.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I can do that too. I was told I could put any border on it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Having such a wonderful time at the Outer Banks. seeing great and different sights. These are the wild horses that live on the beach. No fear of people at all.

Morning,a real fall day out there, left back door open and Ziggy is enjoying freedom to come in and out..

So relaxed, just sitting here hand sewing while watching a good movie, life can’t get much better can it.

Lindakay, how many will you make? What is the size? Look easy enough, great project.

Went out yesterday with the girls, I did fine a good deal at Fabricland, they had curtains, 1 panel each for $5, kind of canvas fabric so bought what they had in same which was white and green and I thing I can make it work to close in the screens 8n back room just using hooks, so trying to save myself a lot of work..even if they only last a few years..with what I may be short my thoughts is to purchase canvas with same colouring..maybe I will work on this this weekend.

Jeff thought he might come tonight or tomorrow and if he does will connect my stitch regulator..I bought it feb 2017, greg connected it to my sewing machine on frame and it didn’t work, at same time I was sick often, flood etc that although I took it off to send back I didn’t..well even though it was over the warrantee time they sent me a new one..got it Wednesday..Lordy glad they did, didn’t remember I had paid $799. So just thrilled it’s replaced and will be overly pleased if it works. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

The quilts are 4 feet by 6. A nice throw size. I have 6 kits to put together.
Glad to hear they sent you a new part.

Enjoy your trip Karen.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, aren’t they beauties Karen, how long will you be away?

Pat, Othello closes shortly doesn’t it?

Nice size throws Lindakay..6 kits wo, guess shouldn’t take too long to do one Once youget at it seeing they are mostly straight sewing..

Jeff just cAlled, his kayakingwas with friendsfrom work, does it every year, usually 20 or so of the, seeing they are calling for rain/thunderstorms tomorrow and all weekend he cancelled the gathering but said likely he would drive up over the weekend and dothe stitch regular, here is hoping.

Worked on Garys quilt for a bit , just needto random quilt the inner blocks but in meantime could do binding..hmm.. trying to convince myself to get up off the couch and warm up leftovers, not sure I’m energetic enough Let alone do binding, with rain there will be lots of time to play on weekend.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

here's hoping he does help with the stitch regulator, Betty. I remember the first year he did kayaking - you were so frightened for him, but he did alright, and kept in close contact with you so you wouldn't worry as much. Part of being a parent, eh?

Almost finished the Sistah's lap quilt. It's lovely to do this, so comforting.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No, they don't take anytime to put together. I have 4 tops done, just need borders and the star.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..drab 72, light rain and so damp/humid..limping on one leg as hip is giving me the what fire.,using chairlift.

Lindakay you made great headway on those quilts, you will be done before you know it..do you also have to quilt them, can’t remember if you said you did or not? How are you feeling?

Dianne are you getting this weather?

Susan, fall must be in the air, we are allback sewing lol

Karen, wonderful to hear you are enjoying your trip and all so different..when do you get home? Girls are talking Frankenmuth again.

Good day just to sit on the couch and hand sew bind8ng in Gary’s quilt..done now as he requested but his design blocks are too big to not be quilted so maybe later I’ll random quilt theblocks..

Heard from Jeff, Caleb and Braedon coming in from camp today, he is just waiting to hear if he has to pick up boys or not then determine if he will come today or tomorrow, told him not to worry, long weekend coming up amd could do it then.

Victoria Harbour, ON

A/c is off and doors open for fresh air, maybe I should shut them, keep out some of the dampness...reminds me I should go downstairs and empty dehumidifier.

Last of Gary’s quilts

Think I’ll get the quilt book out that I bought in California, just maybe if I take the time to read it might make sense

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Quilting will be easy on these quilts, she said stitch in the ditch.
My new pills are starting to work, a lot better than the last ones. I have not had stabbing pains in a few days. I still get the racing heart, but no stabbing pains.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I signed on Friday here in Kennewick, the buyers will sign on Tuesday or Wednesday, it will be recorded Friday & the money then deposited. If I had sold back 5 years ago, I would walked away with practically nothing. NOW, I'll pocket 36K plus the $500 per month above the mortgage payment I have made when both units were rented.
Ben is back on IVs for UTI and will have PIC line put in on Monday. I have new caregiver starting Monday. I have known him for 3 years, he has been a caregiver for some of my previous clients and also privately served my Uncle. I am excited to hire him.

Betty, I like the winter quilt you are working on for your cousin, unusual combination of colors that WORK. I like it!

Linda, a fun project for sure! I am still not up to it. Just doing some sewing to hem something was too painful. Hoping my PT gets me past this soon.

Karen, I would be in heaven with the wild horses. They are stocky looking!! They look to tall to be "ponies" but too stocky to be regular horses. Of course with nothing to compare them to for size, it is hard to know just how tall they are from the photos.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - So glad to hear the new meds are working, albeit still with the racing heart. An improvement is still an improvement, and I'm sure you're relieved about something helping, right?
Pat - Great that you have a caregiver you know & trust! That's awesome :-) Horray on the sale and that it will be profitable!!!!!! That's a major plus! Sometimes, as they say, good things come to those who wait.
Betty - I love the winter scenes on the quilt - could we see a closeup?

I'm almost finished the stitch in the ditch & around the pattern handsewing of the lap quilt (should be done tonight) then it's time to do the border. I'm really pleased that I stuck it out and decided to handquilt this one in particular. It gave me a lot more time to think about each contributor and say a little prayer for them (especially the two who have now passed on).
Today was a "book" day. Went over to the Library with a friend (Pat) and we went through the books that the Marigold Library System said we needed to get rid of. Some of the books we'd just gotten last month, some only had creases in the spine from being read, and yes - there were some that needed to get weeded out, but of the 3 boxes of books they were going to throw out (I made them leave them behind), we have maybe 1/2 of a box that really should go out because they're damaged. It's annoying that they came 45 min early, and were weeding them out before I got there.
The books that we aren't keeping I can give to an even smaller library that's nearby (and isn't under the Marigold "umbrella").
I belong to a Library system where if they don't have the book you're looking for, they will get it from another library, anywhere in Southern Alberta. Some of the books I've gotten from these other Libraries I would not keep in my home, they're in such a sad shape - whole chunks of pages falling out, covers delapitated, etc. We, however, are being held to a "higher standard" because we have a volunteer staff?!?!? Frankly, I'm very annoyed at this.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Susan you sure have a love for books, you remind me of my Al8ne, she has an entire denset up as a library, card system the works, neighbors drop in and sign out books..she lives her library..

Pat, I am sure the caregiver will be dependable and a good fit for you and Ben. Sometimes we don’t know why things happen but now you know the non sale was in your best interest..a.m. sure you’ve lots planned for the $35k

Lindakay, what a relief not having to endure the pain..here is hoping the meds cont8nue to work.

Another stay inside and relax, sew and just enjoy the day..

Was up gabbing with joanne onmessenger at 4am..looks as though not only I was awake, must be the weather..

Jeff didn’t make it yesterday, I hate to take up his Sunday so said to wait until next weekend,i can do without the stitch regulator until then..

Have had a few coffees, should get up to something, it would be such a waste to just lay here on the couch all day!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am trying to talk Ben into another vehicle and getting rid of the currently non-functioning ones!!! . He has his old J-10 Jeep pickup that in my opinion is not reliable. I am fine with the idea of 3 vehicles. I like having a back up, or one that is for specific functions. I HATE driving his pickup, it's a standard and grumpy, IE even people good with stick have trouble with it!!! Hopefully THAT is where some of the money will go, vehicle.

Ben is NOT well enough to do the work that needs to be done on these non-functioning vehicles.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here is hoping he will agree Pat..nothing worse than havingunreliable vehicles.

Just finished vacuuming, found a dead mouse under curtains, guess Ziggy no longer wants to just play with them lol

Sun is trying to come out..thinking of taking a drive to midland, few things I’d like to pick up but none on urgent list.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are home, it was a very nice trip. Probably the last time for us for a trip like that. I so hate not being able to walk very much. I hate too holding others back or missing out entirely. Still managed to see quite a bit. Our DD and DSIL were terrific tour guides and very patient with us seniors. We pretty well covered OBX from end to end.
Betty another meet in Frankenmuth sounds great. I'll do my best to get there.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes Betty - I do love books. I just can't see them being tossed out without doing something with them. I know some people will wallpaper their walls with old music sheets, or their floors! There is a lot of Book Art out there, and I want to try some.
A home lending library, eh? Neat idea!
Pat - 3 vehicles? We couldn't do it, with all the insurance & registration costs. Hopefully he "gets it" that he can't do the repairs on them anymore.
Working on the last block on the lap quilt. Once I've stitched it, then I do machine stitching for the border. That should do up quickly.
Last night I made some apricot jam - didn't jell, so I'm reboiling it and adding sugar. There is no pectin in this recipe. It's pretty well jelled, so I'm not worried about it. If it doesn't jell, it's pancake syrup (or ice cream topping!). I'm give a couple of pints away, and we have a quart otherwise. yummmmm!
Now it's time to freeze the beets, beans & carrots!
Have a cute carrot(s) I picked today.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

picture wouldn't post, so trying again

Thumbnail by Tallulah_B
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is an odd carrot.
