Where is everyone?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Just lurking! Getting ready for trip to Colorado next week for our Afghan Club of America show. Leaving on Sunday, I'll be there all week.

This is the one year anniversary of the death of my son in law. My daughter is going out to dinner with his family tonight. They had a small gathering at their house yesterday afternoon, just family, and some of their grief therapy group. It was nice getting together with them.

I see all these beautiful crafts and quilts that you all are making, and wish I had the time and talent to try!

Just got home from Vacation last night. Had a good time but hard to deal with my limitations. Neuropathy makes it so difficult to walk for very far or long. I hate feeling I'm holding the others back.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hi there, sorry, had a busy day, Rita dropped in for a few hours , then call after call after call...humidity is terrible, June just called to check if I was alert to the tornado warnings..yep

Storm brewing so won’t chat any longer

Hugs Debbie and Karen

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Tornado huh? YIKES.
I went and looked at a 2006 Ford Expeditian XLT, it looked new it was in such good shape. I need to see if Ben can get in it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay safe Betty.

Sounds like a nice vehicle Pat.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - *gentle hugs* to you. Anniversaries of sadness are tough.
Pat - hope that the vehicle suits all that's needed.

I've finished all the handsewing on the lap quilt, now to do a border.
I'm pleased with the work so far.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, wow that was quite a storm but Ziggy and I made it lol
More inclement weather for nextfew days, thank the lord I’ve a roof over my head...

Deb, so glad she was with family, gives comfort for sure..how many dogs are you showing? How many hours of driving time?

Pat those vehicle are high aren’t they..hope he can get into it, if it’s in that great of shape and low mileage you will have to act quickly.

Have to show photo’s of your work Susan..

Girls come this morning, best I get garbage to the roadside and tidy up a bit before they get here.

Enjoy your day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

His J-10 pick up is high and he gets in it easier than me! I think we will let the whole vehicle thing wait for a month or two so we get the remodel behind us first. I am afraid I make car buying a very time consuming project.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure why bu I posted today and do not see it, as well I saw that lindakay was also checking up for update from Karen re her hubby and poof, gone

Hope you’ve good news for us Karen?

Noah just dropped in,said he wanted to make a date for Tuesday night to play tv bingo and bring pizza, I’m look8ng forward to that..a

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like an awesome date night.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

posted up-date in other thread. Hoping all have a nice holiday.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Here's the lap quilt I did - the blocks were hand quilted, and the rows between were machine stitched. I took individual block shots too, if anyone's interested - that's 11 blocks (2 are the same, blue maple leaves).
I was chatting with Thunder the other day, on FB - she says she misses the block swaps. She's doing some beautiful star BOMs right now.

I don't know how people do quilting on a small throated sewing machine!! I think it'll be easier to do my queen-size quilt by hand. It'll take awhile, but I can't roll all this material in such a small throat. My machine is a basic one, and that's a lot of fabric!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan your quilt turned out GREAT, good for you!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Pat - I love it, and it's comforting to know that I have friends surrounding me :-D

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree Pat. Susan, that is very nice.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning out, can you believe I’m saying it’s chilly outside,hurrah..at least for now. Opened back door and windows, let some fresh air in..Ziggy loving it as he can come in and out, just hope no other critter follows him in lol

Susan, you did a fantastic job on your quilt, stunning it is..I must follow your lead and get out the 2 or 3 pkgs of different blocks I’ve set aside from block swaps..big sigh, somuch to do..

Karen I’ll copy your post and put it here, there are a few who do not frequent the sewing thread if it’s ok with you.

I’ve been all mixed up in my days, keep feeling like it’s friday today, been like that all week.. as I promised myself I took out that paint can this morning and started to pain, don’t know if I’ll get the entire back laundry/washroom done but I’ve started it..one wall each day and by end of weekend voila, nice and bright..of course a cupboard has to be moved, if I empty it I might be able to move it, gives me a excuse to clean it lol

Long weekend for all of us this weekend, what are you planning? Hard to believe kids will soon be in school and fall on our doorstep.

Sorry crazy busy day.
They have the valet service because they are building a parking structure where the parking lot was so no visitor parking at the moment.
Got a call for a house viewing and then a call from hubby he was released. Before I could pick him up, I had to make sure everything was in order here. Another run of heavy rains through the night and sprinkles all day, cold too only 60.
Hubby is feeling fine but very tired, I'm sure he was as stressed out as me. He did admit to being frightened by his symtoms too.
Holiday company starts arriving tonight, at any time in fact. So glad I don't have to worry about taking care of anything as all are self sufficient. They bring all their food and do the cooking and clean up.
Sure hope the weather improves, there was actually a tornado sighted a couple counties away.
Hoping all have a nice holiday week-end.

Back to painting and sewing, hairdresser changedmy Perm from last yesterday to this afternoon, so tired of straight hair, remindme not to try that style again..

Well coffee is no more so guess break is over

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, did they find anything that might have cause this episode? Not a wonder it frightened him. Glad you will have family around this weekend, likely they will make sure you and hubby behave.

Did the realtor end up bringing the potential buyers? One of these days the place will sell.

Pat, tomorrow you will no longer be frett8ng about Othello, bet you are anxious tohave $$ in hand

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Drs. found nothing to worry about they say. However, he's still not 100%. Went to bed at 7 last night and just got up this morning. Something happened to him for sure, it's just not leaving any clues as to what it was. He did have two long days on the road with the second being very stressful as the car was acting up the whole way. Later mechanic said it could have caused the car to burn. I just looked at hubby and said...Well that would have been covered by insurance...
The repair was very expensive, hated that as we are looking at a new one. We have the long week-end now with basically nothing to do so maybe the long rest will set him straight. Kids will make sure he does nothing more strenuous than fishing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Driving that distance Karen could have done him in..that is a lot of driving then add problems with car thank goodness he didn’t have a stroke..well back to painting.,getting more done than walls, going is good..wish it were so damp and paint would dry quicker..while waiting I do a bit of quilting..feel like being productive today..

See joanns has a great sale again, tempted to make a day run Saturday, Sunday if schedule works out ok might meet up with Jeff and the boys and do eats,he is picking them up from Algonquin park, next day flying out to university..plans always seem to change so who knows so Saturday would be my only day to go this the pushing to finish the painting..pretty well every room in the house will have been painted once I finish this one

Break is over, I’m on a mission!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, this is our Labor day week end, traffic might be heavy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Our labour day weekend as well..usually Saturday is ok providing i leave extra early and if I leave lewiston/buffalo by 2or so shouldn’t be too bad..traffic on 400 would ease off as most at their cottage by late afternoon..

Sharon isn’t sure she can find a dog sitter for the day, pups are on a schedule..joanne said she would come with me if Sharon can’t so we will see, plans change very easily but that is my plan..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Monday we're installing the Little Free Libraries - 2 of them. Last night I saw it was supposed to POUR rain (20-25 mm), and now they're saying about 5mm in the morning. We have the newspaper & a couple of politicians, and maybe other representatives from our community. Hope the weather's good. Afterwards we're going to the Senior centre for cake & coffee/tea.

re: our library - found out why Marigold takes away books - they resell them in other library book sales! Do we get the funds? no......... but they send us 10 books per month, so I guess that's the same thing

Verona, ON

Betty same here - it is only 68* . I think it feels so cold because we have been sweltering with the heat. Keiran and I worked outside for 2 hours this morning and didn't even work up a set.

Susan I am so excited for you and your Little Free Libraries. Excellent !!! Wish you were closer as I have so many books to share.

Deb safe travels and good luck at the dog show.

Pat how is your hand ?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

busy day - went to Three Hills & got some shingles to finish our roof, the Thrift shop to get embroidery hoops (my old ones were splitting & I got a lot more stuff besides lol), rental shop to get a post hole digger & metal detector (auger for the Little Free Library posts and garden fence post & detector for my ring), to a friend's to buy some garden fresh beets, grocery store & the Bargain Shop for non-perishables....... now we're home, 4 hours later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope you find your ring.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I managed to give myself a burn on the thumb/hand that had surgery. I am NOT the brightest Crayon in the box. I microwaved a tamale in a Ziploc and then opened the hot bag... dumb,. dumb, dumb! LOL... hurting unit for sure.

House is done, done, done and I have the money in my account. ONE more stressor done. Ben's last IV at hospital is to be Monday and caregiver will take him there & back, then leave early to enjoy the rest of his day with girlfriend.

Contractor called with problem. The cabinet making company had an issue with the configuration we had drawn up . They would not put a bread board in an base cabinet wider than 24 inches. So contractor & I changed up a few sizes, moved the light switch to the back side of wall (into Living room and not to side of frig) and NOW it's all ok again.

I am tired and may sleep in the guest room tonight just to be sure I get to bed on time or EARLY. I am super exhausted, did not sleep well the last 2 nights. Ben did not make it to bed in timely manner and I kept waking up in pain.

I have soooooooo many things I want to do and can't, it's driving me crazy. At least this is long weekend and I will spend some of it with my Sister. We are going to REALLY trim down the doll project, donate LOTS of them NOW to various places and shut it down. She has a 2nd hand surgery scheduled Oct 1, I want to get back to my first love, quilting.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Put ice/cold water on that burn.
That is a long list of things to do. Take them one at a time.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pat - take a deep breath & let yourself know everything's going to be ok. Take care of that burn. I agree with LK - one thing at a time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, temperature is cooler this morning and overcast, calling for rain next 3 days so I need to get grass cut today then guess I’ll be playing inside..

Sharon can’t go to buffalo and can joanne so doubtful I’ll make the tripon my own but who knows...

Dianne you will hate to see Kieran go back to school, likely he will want to work on the weekend...did he say what he will buy with funds earned? Hope your long weekend weatherwill be better than mine.

Pat, drats on the burn, steam burns hurt like the dickens..glad the sale is behind you, more time for you..did they give you an expected date for the cupboards? Enjoy your time with your sister.

That is one full day susan, looks like you are accomplishing much as well.

Thought I’d sleep like a baby last night but not, watched movies then fell asleep around 5...now enjoying a coffee then head8ng downstairs to finish up in laundry, room. While in town last night after perm went in search on a mirror, couldn’t find one the size I need so maybe this weekend I’ll take a run to barrie and look..did buy the dryer vent hose though, have to move freezer and drygher to get at it, am sure I’ll be able to get it done..need to put up curtain rod so I can hang curtains, think I might have some that would fit, if not I can make some..so that will be my day..

Got a call last night, one of the ladies that used to come to dinner once a month passed away, she had been fighting cancer for quite a while..in six months Lois and don Batten passed, now Mrs. Lamoureux, justleaves me and one other ladyleft of the group..big sigh

While at Walmart I saw Jeremy, my cousins son, he told me his mother was in an accident a few hours prior, a hit and run and that she and his dad were having a bite in mac Donald so I went and sat and chatted, she was hurting where her seat belt went across and was just starting to feel the pain, guess it was the shock that numbed the pain so he was taking her to hospital..it was an older car filled with young ones, her husband took a ride through the area and found it on back road..seems girls in the car were yelling ‘hit it,hit it, let’s get out of here’ police are now looking for owners. Her car is a right off...could have been so much worse.

Chatted or rambled long enough, must get back to finishing my project

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I don't understand hit and run, I suppose sometimes they make the decision to run because they are under the influence and don't want to be found out. STILL, you potentially hurt another human being! How can you drive off?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely no insurance, plated wrong they were told..a big old heavy duty vehicle, someone in area will know where it belongs.

Finished tidying up..going to wash grime off of me then get dressed, still in paint8ng clothes..might just relax for a few hours..

Sorry to hear about your friend passing.
Hit and run accidents happen here too. Usually because the driver has no insurance, or is under the influence.

That room looks nice.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hit & run here would be because they don't have insurance. Here you have to have insurance to get registered, and then they turn around & cancel it to save $$
Sorry your friend passed away.
Betty - your bathroom looks nice!

Tonight Bob & I set the two posts in our community, for the Little Free Libraries. On Monday we'll have a ceremony to install one on a post, in the kid's playground beside the senior's center. Afterwards we'll go for cake & coffee/tea at the senior's center. The press, hopefully the communitiy's arena rep, and at least one politician (?) will come for the ceremony. I know that residents will come. I hope the weather cooperates.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I think your little libraries are the coolest idea! How do you keep wasps from trying to take them over?

Verona, ON

Pat when I lived in Toronto back in another life the little libraries were very popular in what is known as the Beach area. They were a huge success. In fact some of the ones that were there in the late 70's are still active. I used them a lot as both DH and I were readers and it was great fun to open the box and see what was new in there.

Susan sending positive thoughts that your skies will be sunny and clear on Monday. Do you have local elections coming up like we do in Ontario ? If you do there is a good chance for a photo op with your politicians.. Have you contacted any of them ?

Went to the small Farmers Market in the village this morning. Things are slow coming in for everyone. I was able to get some lovely yellow pear tomatoes along with some small red potatoes and purple beans.

The best part of my trip into the village was I spotted 2 Rottis playing in a yard across from the school. I stopped and the 2 ran right up to me and sat. I laughed dogs' noses don't lie ..... i keep dried liver bits in my pockets. The owner is thinking about breeding the younger one in about 6 months so my mind is whirling.

Do you all remember that this weekend the Jerry Lewis Telethon used to be on all weekend ? I don't think they even have it any more.

Did you head south Betty ?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wasps in the LFLs? Never heard of such a thing.
We contacted politicians to come to the Installation of the LFLs, but it was short notice. The wife of our Counsellor is coming though. We're hoping one at least will come to the official Charter Sign install though - end of Sept when I receive them.
We'll have Photo Ops with both ceremonies - installation and sign install.
We'll be in the county newspaper too

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Little libraries are all over we even have them near us.
