Didn’t realize the time, just had pizza and going out for steak dinner...best I go to work amd work up an appetite

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

I would love to join the swap. What is involved?

I live on a farm with cows, chickens, geese, ducks, quail, pheasants, cats, and a Bernese Mountain Dog named Fancy. There are also deer, fox, coyotes, bobcats and every once in a while, someone spots a mountain lion. Those can stay down by the river, thank you very much.

Love to see all the projects that everyone makes. I try to quilt, but don't have time until winter. I have a high tunnel which is a greenhouse without heat, so I can a lot of my veggies. I just got done canning 27 quarts of beef, we made hamburger out of an old cow and canned meat is so handy to have. I also have an outside garden with mostly potatoes, onion, garlic and a few melons and gourds.

Let me know what I need to do with the swap.

Thanks

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a tremendous amount of work, you are in the right place if you like quilting lol
When my hubby was alive he did h7ndreds of jars, just like his dad did of mustard beans (my favourite) beets, veggies, pickles of every kind, tomatoes, tomatoe juice and built me. Cold cellar..know most would think I lost it, still have a jar that’s un-eatable, just warms the heart.

We do not in any way in my region have the wildlife you have, maaaybe that is good news or is it bad news not seeing wildlife..

When I lived on the farm we had mega goats, chickens, that is as close as I came to being a farmerette lol.

As for the swap, I take names until let’s say the July 1st then will pick names for everyone and send your name via email, then it’s pick something and mail off.

Guess I ought to get ready, leavingnhouse at 4:30 for steak and my tummy is saying maybe you shouldnt

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Ruth, glad you joined the swap. Just find a pretty piece of garden art, and mail it to your partner, once Betty sends you a name in a Dmail. Names are keep secret, till your partner gets her package.
Thanks for the new room Betty.

Pacifica, CA

yes price is good for me, look forward to this...
I wonder if judy wants in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy has not posted here in a long time. I think she got lost. Can you send her a message and ask?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the invite Linda K. I would LOVE to join the swap!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi Ruth! Nice to have you join us here :-)
I am definitely in for a garden swap, glad you are as well, Ruth!
I don't think I was in that swap you were in, Betty so I don't know who sent you that pretty fairy (don't think it's an angel?!?!?! I could be wrong), although I have something from a garden swap that Cindy was in (PurpButterfly). I got a purple butterfly garden stake that I'm still using in my houseplant :-)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

BETTY!! So glad we were there so you didn't fall! WERE you wearing your jammies & housecoat? Don't want to hear that the RCMP carted you off for indecent exposure! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, high of 61 and dull and wet so decided today will be a p.j. kind od day.

Slept fairly well considering the bands played on.lol

Had a beautiful bbq steak dinner at suzanne’s, bean, carrots , new potatoes in dill, salads, yummy for sure, both she and Lenny are great cooks

Miss our Judy..yes she loved her swaps.

Liz in one of the swaps you sent me a beautiful birdhouse with a steeple, sitting in the enclosed deck, never did want to put it out. Some of you might remember ‘starzz’ have a gardening plate that should be set somewhere soecial..keep thinking, why do we save pretties for another day, why not use them now? Do you do that as well?

Guess now I’ve had coffee I can go play in sewing room.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

IF I can use it and not break or ruin it, I don't "save" it. BUT if by use I will destroy it, I don't. That said I have a bird house my DSIL made me with horse shoe for decoration, with heart & our initials cut into the back with a router, we got for our wedding gift. It is mounted on a 6 foot tree stump that I can view right outside my computer room window. Although it is weathering and would have lasted longer more protected, I am getting so much enjoyment out of RIGHT where I have it, it's been sooooo worth it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you joined us in the swap Pat.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well just maybe I will set outa few more things, that is the reason I so like all my rusted art, only gets better with age..

Found an old extra large planter hidden away under the trees, started to do that Disney planter but although I added flowers from hanging basket I think it should have been startedthis spring

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I like to have my pretties out where I can enjoy them & remember the person who gave them to me. I get "all used up" so why not them? lol Betty - I'm with you on this!

Why is Judy not here, again?

I forget too much lately.......

Pacifica, CA

just a small note whoever gets my name I live in a condo, with plenty of restrictions it is quite frustrating coming from a house,

thease are the thing I cant have due to no nailing in outer walls
bird houses, hanging signs, I live on the shade side so solar does not work here. it is super frustrating!!!!!

I can hang windchimes on the interior of the deck it does not show from the outside
I have a small three tier shelving unit which I have some trinkets I brought with me
mostly small scale items not taller than 6 inches.

but im not fussy at all and love surprises.

judy wont be able to join this time she is busy with granddaughter, and another one on the way,
second one is from her youngest girl Sabrina, so judy is on cloud 9 super busy. I still cant believe those two girls are all grown up!
wow time flew right by

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks for the heads-up Liz, on what you can/can't have. I can see it being frustrating. A gardener in the shade - you could grow hostas in pots!! (watch out for me, I'm a real Pollyanna - see the good in most every situation :-) lol )

Pacifica, CA

susan lol I forgot about hostas

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, high of 70 today, perfect weather to be out i decided to waterplants and do some trimming, by 8 I said what to heck and cut the lower part of back yard, now it’s break time.

Luz I’m sure there are treasures meant just for you..agree with you, must be. Frustrating for sure.

While I waited for Ziggy to come in last night, was almost eleven, I could see him and another kitty that looks just like him under the trees in the secret garden, how could I see them,, oh those eyes are piercing in the dark of night, anyway, I made a list of different things I have that have been stored, going to. Take them out and see just where they can go..

What a scare, I was watering the hostas I planted along fence near pond where there are cedars, something jumped out at me, big brindle coloured dog but he was so quick I didn’t know at the time it was a dog or something else... I continued cutting grass and he kept wanting me to play with him which I did, Ziggy perched on the tree limb and watched lol. A little later I heard some9nee call for the dog, here he lives up the street and bad doggy (pup) had escaped, he was so worried that instead of coming this way he headed for the highway.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I sure hope he made it home safely.

Victoria Harbour, ON

His daddy came and got him, followed him without a leash, he was a puppy full of mischief even if he was big, it was the not know8ng what it was..

Susan you will be glad to know that I cut down half a bush lol to see the DG friend’s mileage posts..few are on the ground needing to be put back on and some I need to make, will give me something to do this week as though I need something to do lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, take a look what I cut down just to see our mileage post lol
Couple down need to be spruced up as do the other wood pieces, today I guess will be crafting day.

Wonder if these pieces can revived enough to go into hidden gardens??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You have been busy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, but a slow pace I’m working 8n..

Was able to revive the 2 mileage markers and weather rock vane

Next I’ll try the birdhouse, not sure where I will put it

Ate lunch and now I think I’ll take a slice of lemon meringue pie..wish I had an apple cause I’d make same as I had last night,..was so yummy

Guess I’ll take a run down to foodland, almost afraid to as I’m sure a few more hanging basket will come home with me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Did you repaint all of them?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Repainted some, touched other, stained birdhouse and now I have half the blue heron done, will do other side in the morning

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Wow Betty - you have been busy! We all know you have nothing whatsoever to do, EVER, so had to find something to fill your time lol I love that you're re-finishing these beloved pieces though. Do you have one for me, of the sign posts? I seem to remembering you do. Of course now that I've moved, maybe we're closer? I'll have to google Victoria Harbour from here.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yup, closer - Calgary was 3,095km, and Torrington's 3,091km LOL So much closer, I may pop down this weekend! hahahaha yeah, riiiiiiiiight........ still too far - 32 hour drive, going through ND & MN & WI.

Pacifica, CA

good job betty, I sure do miss Vicki
hope she is well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, will be a 77F day, so much I could be doing outside but girls come today..oh well, I can get energetic this afternoon.

Liz, it’s very sad indeed that some go by the wayside, move on for various reasons as they become part of a family, I think a caring family, a few are working 8n the lords gardens like tubby and Barb, some for no reason, some busy but still remembered.
Judy and Bev, Joyce, Janice,Stacey to name a few, always enjoyed seeing their names when I opened this thread.

I’ll have to go do inventory on the mileage signs, know I’ve a few to add.

Need to go to town and pick up a piece of wood this afternoon, another piece I thought of throwing away was the old red bench hidden at the very back of the yard, saw that I had red paint in shed, not so sure it’s still good after being out there for a few years, I’ll check, maybe I can revive the bench..the insert, well that is another thing..I base coated it with blue for sky and green for grass, adhered country wallpaper and gave it about 6ciats of finish, I think I might have some of same wallpaper so if I buy wood and cut into an insert I just might salvage that piece.

Sitting on the ground near the bench was a kitty birdhouse I got in a swap a decade ago so thought long and hard, really thought it should go into the garbage this morning BUT he is looking pretty good after a paint job

Now I know that we didn’t get frost last night but those gorgeous hydrangeas are limp, look like they have been frost bitten, Lordy, too expensive to die in 3 days..wonder if I bring them back and ask what is up with them?

Give them lots of water and give them a chance to settle in.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

So many treasures you're getting refreshed, Betty!

Had a vet appt last night for Bonnie, my 3 year old. I have a friend that wanted to have a litter using her, so I was starting all the health screening tests. Found out she is severly dysplastic! I just don't understand, I did all the testing on her parents, and they are rated good or excellent! I am so disappointed, I really wanted to breed her. I need to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon to determine her best option, which from my research, seems like hip replacement surgery. Time to hit the retirement account, again. I think I'll be working until I drop, just to pay for my dogs!

Verona, ON

Oh Deb I so feel for you. I know exactly how you feel. My "special" fund has been hit a few times by canine needs. Do you know of anyone whose dog has had this replacement ?

It is pure chaos here and I don't mean my dog. The guys are here putting in the new windows, my cleaning lady was here,my neighbour from Rochester came up the hill from his cottage to mark the trees he felt I needed trimmed or down plus the bobcat is here moving pea gravel. Only problem is a tread came off the machine and Shawn had to go get grease and a certain wrench.I'll be so glad to have all of this behind me.

Duke started to have a melt down but I was able to refocus him on where he was. The TH is downstairs because the cleaning lady was here so I just keep them down here. The tile is nice and cool for them to lay on plus there is a really nice breeze from lake.

Betty I relocated a Hosta and it is doing the same thing as yours.

Mike needs me... gotta go.

Lindakay they do look a lot better today, I had sprinkler going all afternoon on them, the little rain we had over the weekend wasn’t enough for them so must remember, water, water and more water.

Rain expected tomorrow but how much?? Then comes 80-90’s with a feels like 105-113 so I’ll just keep watering until they saythere is a band.

Joanne was here today, she was away for a week at a school for rug hooking..omg shebroughme the cutest flower she made, primitive, I get excited at such things as I know how much work goes into them...next time I’m downstairs illbring it up amd take photo

Deb, I would imagine you are torn between having the operation done..did the vet say that at 3 There is a good chance Bonnie will do well..know about the money thing, always something!

Dianne know about having workers around but my goodness what a gorgeous new look you will have, mega curb appeal..

Got to ask myself, how much longer will I be findimggarden art..this beautiful plant holder I painted at least 10-12years ago so next time I’m in town need to buy some plants for it, think I’ll just wipe it down, won’t do retouches of paints

All and all a busy day so went to pizza palace and ordered hamburger and onion r8ngs, will cut hamburger I quarter and eat a few onion rings, rest can be tmr lunch

I love that old box.
And that burger looks yummy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Got home Ben did not have dinner ready and the contractor was already here (I was later than I expected). I just sent son out to bring us dinner back.

I am sooooooooooooooo upset with husband it is all I can do not to yell at him. He "advanced" paid a casual laborer by paying his Bail bondsman $ 250 and now of course the jerk hasn't come to work it off. He doesn't get why I am angry at him or why I would feel betrayed. this is nothing more than a new version of that nephew of mine that took advantage of /Ben.. This qualifies for an Adult Protective Service report and I am a mandated reporter.
