Back from voting. It was very busy at the polling station. Everyone seemed intent on keeping the PC from being voted in.
I am getting cranky - still no boulders and I have several large pots filled with flowers out front My plan was to position them in different areas on the boulders.. Don't want to move them twice as they are so heavy.
Stay safe, well and cool everyone
best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..all welcome, come sit a spell..
Going out shortly Dianne, almost seems senseless to vote but vote I will...
Dianne they’ve dug so much rock when digging for posts wish you lived closer, you could have some..I’ll have to get creative with the huge boulders.
Guy working for Jamie next door cleaning back yard said that Jamie wants a new play set for his kids and likely putting the unit by roadside, June was here when he said it, she called Ann who asked me to let Jamie know she would gladly take it...we will see what becomes of that
Lordy, Andrew came to ask how I wanted the fence boards put, one on each side or just boarded, one on each side means more boards grrr likely $400 -$500 more...I said just boarded but Jamie next door was near, he said he would pay the extra so it looked nice on his side as he intents to do back of his property and side, likely never in my mind..called amd talked to jeff amd greg, both said as well as Andrew that seeing fence is 1’ and 2’ on my side it would still be all mine..I told Jamie the distance on my property amd said no junk along fence..boys said to be good neighbor amd yes let him pay extra for visual effect on his side
Wow Betty - offering to share the cost means that he's really taking responsibility for the mess & you covering it up :D That's awesome
Sounds like he is going to be a good neighbor after all.
No watering restriction yet, but it is coming soon.
Well he has no ownership in the fence, I made sure he knows that, he just wanted to see offset design from his way..guys will be back tmr to finish, looking good.
He was out filling trucks with metal, said he was going to take down old metal fencing this week, didn’t take me long to remind him NOTHING against the fence as there is a good 1 to 2 feet on other side of fence that belongs to me, said yes, I know...need to get the rules in place right?
Worked on the gardens for a few hours, need to get spade out now and work some areas but leaving that for next few days.
Lindakay what to heck in that heat do you do with your gardens?
Sharon, going to keep an eye on hockey tonight, cheering for las vegas
In this heat, I have to water daily, sometimes twice. Not much grows in this heat. My poor roses are trying to melt.
I water our flowers & veggies twice a day. This is a very dry climate and promises to be dry this whole season. We may have fire bans too, come to think of it. I watered a pot on the deck this evening, and 10 minutes later it was bone dry.
Today was a red-letter day....... literally. I got a letter from the lawyer with my inheritance cheques, so we're going to the bank tomorrow to get it looked after. One of the two cheques was a small one, so we cashed it and went out for steak dinner. It was lovely. I sent many thoughts to my mom, in thanks, for the $$ so we can do the necessary renovations to our home. We're going to fix the bathroom, insulate & side the west wall, and replace the windows in the front of our home - all things that got damaged during the move of our home. We'll do some other things too, such as put in a new-to-us jetted tub, etc. Some of the necessary stuff are covered by something called SHARP (Senior Home Adaptation and Repair Program). If it's necessary for warmth, electrical or plumbing, we will get reimbursed. We're also going to re-roof (put a peaked roof on) the front 1/2 of our home. We did the back 1/2 last year & it sure made a difference to the warmth during the winter of 2017/18. Insulating & re-siding the west wall will hopefully take care of the plumbing freezing this year.
It's sad that I should get the funds this way, and while looking forward to the end result, it's going to be a busy summer! Some of it we will hire out, but not too much - inheritance wasn't enough to go crazy (and we're Scottish!! hahaha)
Good morning,
Betty that will look so nice. Hard part is remembering you will have to mow that 1 to 2 foot strip down other side of fence, we ran into that when we had the little fence in for our Izzy dog. DH had to go around and mow and weed wack other side.
Been busy doing running and today is my only "stay home and rest" day. BUT have already been to Walmart.
Waving to all. Betty make sure you rest!!!
Morning all, 72 and sunshine..beautiful day
So laughing, I took out the window frame I found under the deck storage area, found some dragonflies (think of Bev) and filled in each of the 8 panes with glass I had already fired..I teased workers that in the next couple of hours once glue has cured I’m ready to hang it but where oh where is my fencing for it, they best step up the pace. Lol
Andrew is gone to town for more wood, cha Ching cha Ching cha Ching..shaking my head
If I felt secluded before I certainly will now, it will make a big diggerence, maybe I can sun myself and have no tan lines😂
Debbie I don’t think you ever have a day of rest, you should be nicknamed roadrunner.
Sun herself and no tan lines.....isn't that the reason I bought you a bath robe! HAHAHAHA
Big smile, that you did..

Betty - I seem to remember you saying about going out at night, sans bathrobe, and ummm flashing someone? Keep the bathrobe tightly shut lol
No tan lines? YIKERS
Off to the bank today
Is it our age Betty ? I wander around inside and out without clothes a lot of the time.I try to be more careful about going outside in my all together during the summer months. My American neighbours have a habit of arriving when I have just dashed outside to get something. They are up so rarely and no one else except the wild life or those who are invited to come down the lane this far.
Mowed, weed whacked, used the leaf blower and pulled lots of weeds for a few hours. I am tuckered out.My helper comes tomorrow morning. Yippy
Dianne - I was pulling weeds today too - ugly ones that Bob sprayed and they curled up but looked terrible on the lawn, like mutated DLs
Morning, suppose to be mid 70”s today, looking forward to playing in the gardens...
Need to be in Barrie for 9am, meet up with friend of Lisa (ex DIL) to give her the hockey jersey pillow she asked me to make , wants to give it to her dad for Father’s Day next weekend, will pick up a few things at fabric shop and hoping to be home by 10
Guys didn’t finish fencing, hate to think what my bill will be..of course it took better than half day to work fence around tree and still working on second limb. I’d love to start tidying up but need to leave as is until they are done. Look8ng good though.
Neighbors yard keeps getting cleaner grrr
More weeds I pull the more there seems to be, big sigh, trouble with having so many gardens, guess we can say it keeps us out of mischief and gets us outside.
Nope no sunning nude for me, didn’t do it when I was young, can’t think what a scare I’d create if someone came across me.lol
Susan, who me??? Lol
Ziggy is here purring like crazy, wants petting..

That is looking nice.
♫♪Happy Birthday, Karen ♪♫
Betty - that's looking very nice, and private (and clean, with not seeing the neighbour's place - you have a new "secret garden" area you didn't have before!)
It's looking great already, and you don't even have it cleaned up yet!!
Happy birthday Karen, here is hoping it’s soecial in every way.
Went to barrie, gotback at 10:30,Andrew was here, no helper so I’m helping as best I can..watchful on how much wood I carry but am sure I’ll beaching tonight but worth it.
We out out another 60 boards grrrr
Andrew left for town to get them but it’s butter tart festival in midland and one can’t move for people and traffic..if too bad he will come back and just have to finish on Monday
Omg in 5 years that Jamie has lived next door I have never seen his wife outside..today kids are playing on the swing set, she and a few girls are on lawn chairs enjoying themselves, soaking in the sun..knew I was right, just needed to clean yard and family can enjoy it rather than in the front yard..
♫♪Happy Birthday, Karen♪♫ I hope you have an awesome day!
Almost finished a RWB lapquilt (2012):
This is the lap quilt I've pieced from all the blocks I got from my Sistahs of the Heart Cubits (RWB). From top left to bottom right, Kathy Kiz, my maple leaf, Karen Lee Koschke, Center = Dorothy Mitchell (passed away 2012), E Charleen Harrell, Barbara Jenkins (passed away 2018), Thunder Kaplan, Linda Cartwright, Marion Washington Sproul, Jaye Blanchard
Thank you, Ladies, for contributing to this memory quilt for me. It's your contributions that make it all the lovelier.
btw - I'm going to put a red border around it and then handquilt it

Joy To The World
Betty, you will totally enjoy your new hide away.
Hot and windy here today but back shady corner is swamped with hummers.
Happy Birthday Karen.
Beautiful quilt. A lot of hard work.
Linda, hope you are handling the heat.
Betty Las Vegas NHL lost but what a fantastic year. Budweiser even has an ad about the first year of the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Town has gone crazy for hockey.
I am looking into trips to the Grand Canyon. I will let you know soon.
Good morning ! Another stellar day out there.
Plan to spend some time outside this morning weeding I need to get some more soil and a few flowers.
Hoping and I hope not in vain for the boulders to be delivered this week.. I can't do much anymore outside in the front until all of that is taken care of and in place.
Lovely quilt Susan. I know Barb is smiling down.
Hope you had a great day even if your DH got into your jeans Karen.
Going into the village soon to get a copy of Sat and Sun TO Star. My heart aches for the future of our province so want to keep up on how things. Definitely sure Ontario is happy or ready for our new premier.
LV should be very proud of your new hockey team. They did so well for a first year team. Kudos to them.
No Keiran today. I'll miss the little guy. Well he is not little - at 12 he is taller than me - hi's a long drink of water.
Need to go into Ktown at some point but will do that midweek.
Hope Deb is enjoying and doing well at the dog show.
Morning alll, will be in the 70’s today, great day to get outside amd get some work done, don’t think I’ll ever catch up but sure going to try.
Las Vegas Sharon did amazingly well, well above expectation, vegas should indeed be proud.i ended up booking a tour for the canyon and the day before we will drive to Hoover dam, our stay in Vegas will be short but we plan to cram much into it..
Now checking out how to get to San Francisco to get the most out of seeing the country I.e.long route that takes you Yosemite/dessert then on way home from Los Angeles it’s a 4 1/2 hr drive or so, guess depending on traffic, that way see 2country sides, so more investigation is necessary, maybe Liz and Kenny can help me on that one
And yes, was out early this morning to clean a bit, open embrellas and with water feature amd secluded area I totally feel in another world, one of relaxation, might even rest a bit outside today lol that is if skitter go f8nd a hiding place from the sun. Pulled weeds, swat, swat swat, pulls weed swat swat so in to make a coffee, will sit in closed in veranda amd enjoy.
Looks as though Dianne you are thoroughly enjoying Keiran visits, great little helper, maybe he could come winter time and help you out with shovelling, am sure he loves having extra $$$ in his budget. Has he said what he would like to do with his income? Are the boulders for rock gardens along your house? Love rock gardens, when all is cascading over the rocks...speaking of rocks, when I had the smaller pond I had planted 2 carpet roses..they did well, when I filled in that pond I transferred them to another area, they didn’t survive, but this year, the root system came alive near the large pond, they are growing through rock of pond and slate on patio..I’m waiting for Andrew to be finished then I will try and dig some up amd plant here and there along the dug up area..already buds on them so will let them bloom then dig, if they die they die.
Like you I’m following what changes ontario will have but watching more on federal, g7or is it G6..
Ohhh susan my peonies are opening and I love Jeremiah song, gave me a big smile this morning.
Lindakay, what is your weather like, scorcher I bet.
Well peameal bacon is cooked, will fry a few eggs then start my day.
Keiran is taller than you, at 12 yo? Wow, tall drink of water, indeed!
Betty - that spot with the table & chairs looks GREAT - makes me want to just go & sit there for a spell......... Your yard will be different for the fence, but so much more scope for the imagination (feeling like Anne Shirley saying that lol). Love your "people" :-)
I have a red border on the lap quilt, found a soft backing & batting to fit. Will baste it today I hope, if I can find some basting spray.
Bob's been working on some Little Free Libraries for the community. He'll make three. 1st one has a shelf in it, but here's a pic without the shelf yet. 1st & 2nd ones need doors & painting (bright red). Then.... it's on to the 3rd one.
Everyone is ambitious today..I’m enjoying the outside
Can’t believe in one year how much the sod has grown over paving stones and rhubbard leaf paver so that is my goal this afternoon, clean them and try to level 3of them
Hurt me to cut all the lower limbs of the crab apple tree but you could see in far back of the yard so I cut them..boy do I have a fire pit full of branches that needs burning, maybe fire tonight IF the wind dies down..bought marshmallows yesterday, problem is I keep eating a few at a time, likely I won’t have any left to roast lol
Good for Bob Susan. I love the idea of the Free Libraries.
Bugs are fierce and the dreaded deer flies are here. I'm in now and will read for a bit.
Somehow a rabbit has found its way into the TH's pen. Darn ! If it can get in then Duke will surely be able to get out after he digs a bit. Found the spot so will add a 2 x 6 along the ground there.
Susan I am only 5'2" so many of these kids today are taller than me at 12/13.The first year I taught there was only 1 kid shorter than me in my home room class.
SHouldn't have sat down. Think I will stay here with Duke at my side for awhile. My legs and feet are starting to cramp.
Skitters left for the day, only an odd bug here, please don’t send your deer flies, had enough of the black flies a few weeks ago.know the feeling, if I stretch I just might make 5’ so everyone is taller than I.
Amazing isn’t it how these furries can escape in the smallest of holes.
Doing too much Dianne, I had a little nap and not doing a thing more, nope, can smell the mint Epson salt in bath, going to have a nice leisurely bath
I opened every window in the house today to clean out the stale air from winter, feelchilled, guess because of all the sun I got..soon will be July and I’ll be in more seeing im allergic to one of the suns raaays and break out in welts so best I enjoy the outdoors while I can
Sharon was telling me mom drove 1/2 hour to her place today and worked for 2 hours weeding, Lordy she does good for her age.
Bath time then decide if I want supper or not
Dianne - "only 5'2" LOL I'm 5' even, BUT with my new boots, I'm now 5'2 1/2"!
Dr told me I would need to wear heels, because of my metatarsalgia (or because of my plantar faciitis? nah, think it's the metatarsalgia in my heel), and now I got some cute boots with arch support. Even my knees aren't hurting with these. I had to get birkenstalk inserts for me boots, but...... aren't they cute?
I wore 'em to church lol Got a few comments, but they were good comments!
Cute boots Susan.
Betty, what is peameal bacon? I love the photo of the patio stones and table.
Thank you
Peameal bacon:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peameal_bacon
Yummy it is lindakay..when gals from Ohio they always suggest it might be nice to have some for breakfast.
Love the boots Susan..as long as it helps
Fighting go8ng to bed, want to stay up a little later or I’ll be up half the night.
Did you all have a good weekend?
I won't be wearing the boots all the time, just breaking them in, but they seem comfy right off the bat.
Had a terrific weekend. After church I went to visit a new'ish friend of ours, on the way home. She lives on a farm, and is recently widowed (Feb). She has a wonderul sense of humour & is dertermined not to be told how a widow should behave (her granddaughter thought she'd give up her camper - "No Way, I'm going to use it!!" says Dianne). She has her head on tight, and is well off enough that she doesn't have to worry about things, and has loads of farming family in the area (try...... right next door?). I know she's going to be just fine :-) She does say that her place is a bit big for her rattling around by herself though.
