My heart is achy with missing Barb.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Feel the same Karen, often think of Tubby and wonder how Shirley is doing s8nce her move..

But then I also feel a deep loss for those who have left the thread, Bev,Judy,Liz and many more..just yesterday went I walked the yard with Andrew we came across my mileage post with dg members on it and mileage between me and them, they were/are cherished same as you all.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OH MY how I have tried to have Barb's pic and obit published, like Fancy Vans, on the Memorial thread. Started asking and submitting in January, nothing, no response after 5 tries and help from other members .. sooooooooooo .. come July I will not renew, Barb is worth recognition for all her years on Daves.

The trip was OK, horrid weather .. Lorna's Mom is doing well, a bit forgetful, but, aren't we all :-)

Take care everyone

Isn’t it odd that dg is not responding, is there still an admin
Couldn’t we post one ourselves “m”

Know that lindakay does birthday corner, maybe it can be done in same format

Lorna’s mom still living on her own?

Verona, ON

Oh Karen it is interesting that you spoke of Barb... I too miss her terribly.

What year Betty was it that Barb and Norm came to visit?

M I know you have tried and tried to get Admin to add Barb to the In Memory Forum. I too have contacted Admin about Barb.

Dreary day here also. The painters just left and will be back Mon. I am so glad to have the weekend with just the TH and myself. They have a terrible habit of leaving lights on and they wonder why their hydro bill is SO much higher than mine. I go around turning lights off.

I'm sure I make everyone crazy with my turning the lights off too.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Apparently, 'Melody' is the moderator .. I have done DMails, contacted via FaceBook .. nothing .. breaks my heart to think someone as sweet as Barb is not being memorialized ..

Gosh amighty it is WINDY here, have been sitting out but have had to come in .. the pine needles are falling like snow !
Have the Hike for Hospice this weekend, Sunday .. Lorna and I are going and taking Lilly .. we are manning the 2km post ..

Pretty sad no one answers from admin anymore. Not here or Facebook.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Worries me that this will just disappear one day.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Holy waaaaaa for sure Betty !! Got a call from Lorna's Mom at about 8pm last evening ..she has (HAD) a metal shed in the back yard that holds gardening tools and hoses etc .. it totally blew apart in the wind. Luckily the neighbours came out to help her gather and secure the metal panels !
Lorna's brother, 45 minutes away from Mom, in Beeton, was without power for many hours ..

I truly think there is NO admin .. makes me worry about privacy issues for some patrons ..

Thinking you are correct "M". There is no one in charge here and no one who cares about the site. Think who ever bought it is just milking for what they can get from advertisers and the rest of us can take a flying leap.

Verona, ON

Someone on another thread on DG has contact with someone in Admin. She writes articles that are featured on the right hand side of the homepage.. At least I think that it is where you will find the articles. She seems to have no problem getting in touch with Melody.

Wonderful today after terrible winds yesterday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is strong winds, to destroy that shed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If you cl I ck on the daily articles, they are all written several years ago. They just cycle them.

I sent a msg to Admin - waiting to see if I get an answer

Refresh my mind :-)
Re the blade/or chuck roast cooked in the slow cooker with the au jus and ranch dressing on top ..
4 hours on High or Low

Thankya

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Low, I believe, because there's no liquid, other than butter.
This is what I found online:
Place roast in a slow cooker. Form a pocket in the top of roast and place butter, pepperoncini peppers, ranch dressing mix, and au jus mix in the pocket.
Cook on Low for 8 hours.

Marilynne - I saw several websites with this recipe, and they all say low, for 8 hours. Here's one of them:

Jinkies .. I thought it was 4 hours .. oh well, I'll do 8 hours on low, or less as the roast is small.. will feed 3 of us and that will be it, and, for $15.00 !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Susan

Victoria Harbour, ON

I add roast, oks of au just and a pkg ranch dressing and 1/8-1/4 cup butter..
Found one for pork chops, I’m not a pork chop eater but love it.

Power did not go out but worried most of the evening, lots of clean up but didn’t get much done, no less than that lol

Linda dropped in to finish her bag, greg dropped in and visited for awhile, while Linda worked on her bag I got all my santas embroidered..

Greg wanted my pump to do his pond, told him not to get in where ledge of pond is, didn’t listen, green slime galore, guess who fell and cut his leg, told him not to..shaking my head.

She was just getting ready to leVe when Rita came in, we chatted then Rita who was on her way to parry sound to visit her brother dropped in and worked on our July trip

Yep, I wanted Ireland she wanted vegas/California but would have changed over to Ireland, perhaps next next..so las Vegas/calf it is, flight and car rental booked..now I can plan rest of the trip...

She just left, I’m tired so put a TV dinner in the micro, will have it and a bath then bedtime.

Sorry to hear m that Lorna’s mom lost her garden shed..Andrew called to give me official fence cost ($4,200) and said his brother was putting a new roof on, lost mega shingles amd that his roof (Andrew) lost a lot of shingles as well.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

you're welcome, Marilynne :-)
Oh no...... lost the garden shed? How'd that happen?
$4,200 is a lot less than you thought, Betty - how'd he manage that?
Sorry the roof's been damaged.

I was outside looking to see what's coming up & what's budding - everything's either budding or coming up, except for one rose bush. It was my favourite last year, with such beautiful red roses. Miniature bush, regular sized roses. I know I posted the pics on here. I hope it comes back this year. Same with the 2 ferns - not sure about them.
Came back - 2 floribunda rose bushes, Saskatoon bush, rhubarb (of course) 1 of 2 bleeding hearts, False Indigo shrub, Spirea, Honeysuckle, tulips & daylilies (of course), yarrow, and violas (of course). I'm happy with this. Add in the 2 chokecherry trees, and I'm going to have a lot in bloom. Now, if we can only get rid of the junk wood, and other things moved and siding put on the west side, our place will look a lot better...... Need to find a place for the hot tub. Bob says use it as a planter. It's 6' square.... and 4' tall.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Susan, you could dig a large hole, place the hot tub in the hole and then fill with the dirt you removed if it is any good. Be sure you make drainage holes in the tub. You could use 2' above the ground. If soil is not any good, you could compost it for a while until the worms make you great soil. In your area, you may have good soil somewhere near.

Betty, delighted to hear you finalized your plans to come West.

Your neighbor is lucky I do not live next door, I would not be fun to live by.

I was working in my front garden yesterday and a robin was sitting in the tree letting me know I was interrupting his worm hunting. Hummers just ignore me and let me know if their feeders are low.

Vern is needing me so I will try to return.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Impromptu Cinco De Mayo party with three neighbor couples. We all brought food, after eating we sat around the outdoor fire and had a great time for about 5 hours. Neighbors will be missed if we do get to move and enjoyed if we don't.

"M" I know it's too late for this time but I've always cooked my pot roast on high for 4 hours. Ranch mix, Au Jus mix and 1/2 stick butter.

Pacifica, CA

still here betty just busy, but I do read the thread every day on my lunch., still love all you gals and keep up with all your projects and furies.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Oh, that's right, Betty - you're coming WEST! Whooooo hooooooo! So much closer, but well...... not close enough, I'm afraid......

Sharon - I don't think the owner of the Park would be happy with me digging a 2 ft hole x 6ft square in the yard. We own our home, but rent the lot it's sitting on. Besides which, there's all those power lines to consider. We are thinking of putting rocks in the bottom 1/2 of it and soil for the rest. As for drainage, it has a drainage hole built in, so you can drain the tub. We'll just have to think about where to put it. I suggested that we put it on its side, beside the shed, and build shelves to put plants on, but that would expose the shell & it would just look like a repurposed hot tub. The outside is cedar.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

NOT too late Karen .. and I am positive that that is the timing, and, temp .. as I said, it is only a small roast .. thanks ..

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I do small roasts too...just the two of us.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, just sitting for a sec then back to being swamp lady, time to clean the pond, looks like rain so I’m playing beat the clock..came in for a pop, washed my hand but they still smell even with wearing rubber gloves....talk about slime, with each handfull of leaves and slime I was thinking please don’t let me pick a dead frog lol

If I left it for my boys I know there would be no clean up but it would be filled in.

I put all the yuk on the outside of the pond in one area, it will sit there until it dries for a few days then I can easily get rid of it.

I’m at filling it 1/4 way then empty getting rid of some of the yuk still left then refill so hard work done now it’s just refining it.

Liz, hoping we can make arrangements to see you and Kenny, maybe even tpgive Rita and I some advice if where to go,where not to and where is a good area to spend 2 nights where it won’t cost arm and a leg..with the fence, all the work that needs done around the foundation we are doing this tripon a dime.

Once I’m in and smelling pretty I’ll come and chat and go over all the posts

Best I get back to it or I’ll be in trouble, likely get lazy and not finish my job

Betty, why couldn't you start a new thread under General Discussion and Title it "Our Place to Remember Barb" or something like that. Then we could go to the other threads that Barb was on and alert them it is here. I will do it but you know who so much more than I did. If Admin says anything I will tell them it was my idea because e could not get them to replay.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

What a great idea, Sharon.
I d-mailed them, and got no response. I didn't refer to Barb, specifically, so I don't suppose they would "put 2 & 2 together". It just doesn't look like they care to maintain the site.
I would join any "Barb" related sites. Lots of us would, I'm sure - she touched so many lives

Victoria Harbour, ON

Calling for a sunshine day, high 60,s so will wait til around 11 when it warms up and spend day outside..hard to believe with snow and ice not much more than a week ago that leaves are trying their dam nest to come out.

I’m a rad sore this morning so waiting until 11 or so will give me time to get energized.

Need to go to town at some point, if not today tomorrow for sure so a list I shall make, watch me forget the list, imagine I’m not the only one that does that.

GREAT IDEA Sharon, re a personal thread set up..
Lindakay, Dianne do you have date of her death, likely I could go back into threads and find it..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It was a Wednesday, and I don't remember seeing an obit.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I have all the info and pic, so, I'll try and see how it goes ?

~M~

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I did it :-)
Hope Barb is smiling......

Hugs

~M~

PS .. thanks for the suggestion Sharon :-)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Do you have a link to the new DG site?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hope it works .......

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It works just fine, Marilynne :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you so very very much “M”and Sharon..

Another corner cleaned, in the very back corner near the shed had 10 patio chairs and table, I brought them all into the driveway and worked all afternoon to clean them and table, know somewhere I have a big piece of that old fashion oil cloth I put on my craft tables, tomorrow will go in search of it and set it on table and a.m. sure enough for cafe table in secret garden...

Had hope yard cleaners would be here today but not, they must be busy catching up with all their commitments.

Time to grab a pop, then hot bath to wash the sweat then relax

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Our garden fence has needed repainting for years & years.... peeling SO badly. So, today I brushed, sanded and scraped the old paint off that needed to be removed. Bob thinks that they must have used interior latex paint..... Ah well, I'll repaint it then hope to have a picture on it :-)
Hot day today. I'm going out to plant some flower seeds in our planters. Cya lovely ladies later!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Interesting..... I did a search on DG for what to do about fungus/mold on houseplants, and lo & behold...... DG has that as an article on that self same thing - after I did a search.
I wonder if they have a setup like FB - I get ads for items I looked at once, or took a survey on, and now...... here come the ads.
Could DG have the same setup? I wonder. Doesn't look like humans are moderating it anymore, Imho
