Was just saying goodbye to the boys when I got a call my younger brother had a stroke this morning..he has been checked over, all moto skills ok as well as speech, but he has no short term memory, can’t remember anything beyond thursday

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

*Big Hugs* Betty - scary news! Hopefully his short term memory will come back and it's just a temporary thing.

So sorry about your brother Betty, hope they caught it early enough for a good recovery.

Hoping same, he is 62,been in same business since he was 17, should have retired years ago and could have but not him, millionaire and wants more, see where that gets him..

I found the link to the Memory Garden - I had to google it. Finding it through Dave's Garden is impossible. "Search Forums/Memory Garden" or "Memory" doesn't work.

happy Mother’s Day everyone, wether it be tohumans or furries..a mom is a mom...

Susan you did a fantastic job on that banner, church will be blessed having it to hang..you did similar a few years ago I think??

Waiting until a reasonable hour to call and see how my brother is doing..Greg went last night and called to tell me he was confused about the day, maybe today he will be fine or better at least.

It’s a sunshine day here, mid 60’s..another day I’ll have to wait til 11 to go out and play, cold almost gone, don’t want to it to come back.

Tired out this morning, just having coffee then will mark out wood forthe Christmas craft as the Ohio gals will make one as well as the glass birdfeeders which means I have some glass drilling before Friday,

So nice to wake up knowing the yard is coming together, just have to work on weeds now, that can be done daily

Up and at it before I get lazy

Going to Greg and Mel’s for supper

Enjoy your day..

Happy Mother's day everyone.

Pacifica, CA

happy mothers day all....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Liz. Nice to see you.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Yes, Betty - I did one for my church in Calgary, a cross. I was going to do this one for them, too, but then we switched churches, then moved, etc etc. Life & time hit hard so I didn't do this until now. Here's the one I did previously.
I'm hoping to expand the church banner collection, because the ones they have are very old and some are showing a fair bit of wear.

Beautiful work Susan.

Morning all, suppose to be 70 today, great day for outdoor work..rain tomorrow so besti get out about 10 and try and put in a good day, everything is looking so green.

Lovely bbq at Greg’s yesterday, about 14 of us..got gorgeous flower from Greg and Mel and a doz red roses from Noah. Another mother’s day behind us, do hope your day was special as well.for the mommy’s if furries hope you got extra licks lol

Everything is looking green out there, keeps this up and I’ll have to cut grass before the weekend.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Linda Kay. btw - the lap quilt I'm working on now has one of your blocks in it :-) Sistahs of the Heart, 2012

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I enjoyed doing those swaps.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yeah, me too, They remind me of special times & people :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

We should do a mini swap

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Count me in. Maybe we can each make 2 or 3 blocks so we can have enough for a throw.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would be good, Christmas block? Theme blocks??mseasonal blocks??

Holy wash, worked 3 hour cutting that big shrub down, then dug around it and cut at roots, size of limbs, rest then back for more, rest then more, finally with all the strength I could muster I was able to pull it out. Hmmm maybe after I cut the wood for the Christmas project I can take a quick run into town and buy a shrub that won’t grow high, entire garden under that big frame has to be revamped..almost there..big sigh

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What are you digging out? Maybe you should have had the boys do that for you?

Look what my oldest sent for Mothers day!

Absolutely beautiful lindakay, love the colors

Just decided that there was no growth on it and decided to take it out, of course I had to do it today..a lot larger than appears on photo

And. Got wood cut for this Christmas workshop if we do it and the Ohio girls can make one while here

That is a lot of work.

Yep, just crawled into bed, making myself comfy till greg gets here, got my sewing machine back today, the one on the frame, too heavy for me to lift onto the frame, he’ll take it downstairs and do so...in exchange he dropped the jacket he rides with, I picked out the name of his old firm (embroidered) last night when I got home, he told me not to hurry but I like getting things done and not leave for another time.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

two or three blocks, plus one to keep for ourselves? That sounds great - I'm in!
hmmm Christmas, Themed, or Seasonal.......
It would make a nice wall hanging, at that size. I'd love it! TBH - I have enough lap quilts, and have 3 bed quilts to work on (oh yay for UFOs!! lol).
A wall quilt would be so nice. For me, I'd like a Summer themed one, or Fall. Surely we could zip up 4 blocks for a wall hanging, and maybe have them by beg of August? Only thing is, sending to US takes more time than within US. I could have 4 done up in a week (beginning of June?!?!) and send them out.

Morning all, not a sunshine day in my neighborhood, by afternoon suppose to clear then I can get the front gardens cleaned... rain all weekend, wouldn’t you know, long weekend and rain and of course I have Joyce (Joycet) and the girls coming Friday, had hoped for sunshine.

Susan, maybe we should move our block swap over to our sewing thread to see if we could get something going.

Housework done, time to get garbage to the curb and get ready for the girls to get here at 9..

Hoping to get to town later and pick up a new shrub for back garden, one that likely won’t grow high and cover the frame. If we girls go to Collingwood on the weekend I’d like to drop in the the garden greenhouse and pick up a white lace vine.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sounds like a plan Betty. We don't really need anyone to organize this, just send, I would think. I'll see if I have everyone's address. Moving to the sewing thread :-)

Wall Hanging Block Mini-swap
https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1476183/

We just need one more person to join.
So far we have Betty, Linda Kay & myself.

This is my new lapse of good judgement. Black & tan is mine, red is my DGD's.

AWE! Karen, those are so precious.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, will be 70 today so I’m excited it’s not raining and I can spend day out working outside..

Heart is a pumping, you would think I’d learn not to leave water running, was boiling water for coffee, thought I’d put water in zinc to take label off a few jars I need, came to gab with you and could hear something..just in the nick of time..zinc over flowing, another minute and I’d be mopping things up, am sure you all don’t do such stupid things lol

Still so cold early morning, likely takes me till 11 before I can go out and play.

Front roadway garden has so much grass that I don’t know if it can be salvaged, should consider and I can’t believe I’m thinking might be the time to dig up what is good and use the mower and mow it down..big sigh, we will see how today goes.

Karen, you are thinking of taking one home? Too adorable, mega work though.
When do you head home.

Best I get at it

Ohhh 2more sleeps and Ohio girls will arrive.
.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Too late to think about it Betty, little black & tan is mine. I kept telling my self no more, but I have such an soft spot for doxies.

Big smile, am sure you will enjoy..adorable, name please

Worked 1/2hr on front garden, yikes, little bugs eating me alive so swept off front deck, washed all down and as it heats up will try again, even if it’s in 1/2hr increment..

Keep saying, go get lawnmower, mow her down, one less to go..we will see who wins out, my hands or the mower.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I DO do things like that. I put some hamburger patties in the broiler to cook, and when Bob saw it, there were flames coming off the pan, and the burgers were burnt. Set off the smoke detector too........

It's a lovely day out, and I just got some tomato & potato plants (3 beefsteak & 3 cherry, and a mixture of potato types, including Russian blue).
Have to plant them today - going to Red Deer tomorrow for a fundraiser for the Wellness Centre - Bob & I will work @ the Casino for 2 days, so won't be here until Friday night (11-7 Thurs & 11-8 Friday, then an hour drive home)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big yawn, sore as can be..Janice called, she isn’t well so not com8ng..sure wish I’d get call saying other two aren’t as well, taking a hot soak, likely feel up to their coming once I’ve had that..

How come the casino susan?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Did the others call to cancel? You sure need your rest

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pups name is Oscar 2.0 as my previous Doxie was also Oscar and I really liked the name.
