Sunshine day, high of 73

Girls are coming this morning then it will be an outside day for me..if nobody has washing on their lines I’ll light the fire pit and keep adding branches til nada a branch is left, got to smile at that one. Lol

Bit of a guilt trip going on, saw Jamie next door yesterday morning, told him About the fence, I even with a smile told him I couldn’t take his mess, he just smiled..he had his mini backhoe in the drive so asked him if he would push down into drive the mound one of sand pushed back from plow this winter and he said he would.

While at township getting my burning permit I mentioned to them about my yard, the female bills enforcement officer left, nice young man taking her place, lol and behold he came, I could hear them talking, thought self, no driveway fix for me but woke up just before dark and found he had been over and done it, now I’m feeling guilty for reporting him, big sigh

Best finish coffee and get garbage to roadside then get dressed

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't feel guilty. It needs to be done.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

He's the one should have to build a fence. He shouldn't be allowed to foist his mess on his neighbors. If he wants a junk yard ...fine it's his but hide it away.

Tks, just hate being hateful..

Girls just left, had 2 calls, uncle Allan is 27th in line to be buried, he won’t be until June 29th then Darlene called, she had to have one of her furries euthanized, it’s like her child so very upset.

Just going to have lunch then outside I go, great day for picking up twigs and burnimg

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

so Betty - he cleaned up some of the yard?

I'm really pleased today. I'd planted 2 peonies last year (in memory of Carol / FancyVan) and the stems kept breaking in the wind. They were in an open part of our front yard. I looked this year, and there was nothing visible, so last night I decided to plant something else in those 2 places. Well, wouldn't you know it - I found a bud peeking up in both places! I'm thrilled! I'll look at the placemarker & let you know the genus later. Carol grew such beautiful peonies!

Carol’s love certainly was peonies, how lucky you are to have one ofhers so not a wonder you were excited when you saw them peeking through

Nope, no clean up..I just did a burn in the pit, now I can fill it up again

Will wait till weekend and call Ray to see if I got lost in the shuffle, am sure not, just they’ve lots to catch up with..

Putting cloth on two back table sets, at least it will keep things cleaner

Was going to rid myself of 3 patio cushion sets store in my closets but calling for rain starting thursday for 4-5 days so will leave where they are.

Not much I can do myself except pick up branches

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well Betty, you are coming to ls Vegas in July??????? You might want to check our history of average temps during you anticipated trip time. Only thing hotter than July is first two weeks of August. We always went to San Diego the first two weeks of August. Make sure you rent a car with very effective air conditioning because you are going to need it.

We are suppose to hit 100 degrees today and then head downward into low 90s. And then next week back into the 80s.

I am currently sitting on the back patio taking a breather. Vern' caretaker just left and he is watching something on his i pad. He is actually looking better.

I am havig a problem with my KOI pond filter. Keeps throwing sand back into the pond. I think I finally found someone to help but it will not be cheap.

Susan, that is a lot of work. If your DH has a drill, they have attachments for drills that sand and would make your job a lot easier.

I am so glad the new thread worked for Barb. DG, I do not believe, has anyone manning the fort. I renewed just two weeks ago but only to keep in touch with you guys and two other threads.

Linda, I see you got back on DG. Marilyn, you need to stick around. We wiuld miss you.

Karen, any more bites on the sale of your home. Houses here in Las Vegas are selling within hours of listing. Very hot market and no enough inventory. Californians are exiting there and a lot are moving here. No state income tax and properties are much less expensive than California. Now, if we just had some water.

Got a funny story to tell you about my "expert" gardener. I brought home a new houseplant ivy and gave it to him to plant. He tod me it would not grow outside because it was a houseplant ivy. I asked him, what do you think is grwing in the garden right now. Then I told him I have never purchased ivy from a garden center in the landscape area, always the houseplant area. Then he said, now he know why he could never find what I had when he went shopping. I have just taken a few photos to show you what I mean.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Here are the photos. Yu can see my new one. It is in the left hand corner of first photo. My gardener keeps it trimmed or the house would be buried. Mulch is thrown on top and sifted down under the ivy to keep it fed.

Wouldn’t you know Sharon it’s the last week of July and 1st week of August..wouldn’t all cars have ac?

Lordy I’ve never seen such lush ivy, absolutely stunning..your gardens are always a showcase and should be in magazines.

I have ivy growing near the pond, have no idea where it came from but is hearty, survives our ice/snow and sub zero weather...should take a snip and see if I can find out what it is..hmm maybe Joyce and the girls will know.

See hops along neighbors fence, my side is coming up, guess I should try and dig some up as it will get caught on old and not the new fence.

Hot here today, just checked temps, 78 in the house, soon time for ac.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL Sharon - too funny. I guess he'd never seen an "Ivy league" college or University, eh?

Betty - unfortunately this is not one of Carol's peonies. I just bought 2 at a garden center, in her memory. I was pleased as heck to see them sprouting though. I think of her often.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Yes, Betty, all cars have AC but not all AC are alike or effective. When you leave your car out in the sun, when you get inside, it will be over 100 degrees inside the car. The seat will be hot and anything left in the car will melt or explode.

Thanks for liking my ivy. One area started when I put a basket out, inside a larger pot to let it grow. It is now about 10 feet by 5 feet. I forgot all about the pot in a pot, until we were digging around in the area and found the old pot. Some spectacular areas in the garden are just an unplanned delight. But the secret is to keep it cut back to keep it in control, or you will grown into your home and not be able to escape. LOL.

I think you need to rent a v8 not a v6 for your trip. Especially if you are driving from Las Vegas to California.

Vern's caretaker to help him to bed is here so I must sign off.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Another sunshine day in my neighborhood, high of 73-75 so I’ll wait till about 10 or so and get outside and out in a full day, girls come tonight so best I not overdo. Lol

Lordy sharon, things I’d not have thought of, don’t know what Rita rented, will tell her of your suggestions and see if she can check..is it humid?? We when travelling south like New Orleans often had 100but very humid..

Susan, I thought that carol had sent you a peony??

Think I’ll go downstairs and put binding of the redwork Santa throw and sit and hand sew for a bit while sipping a coffee, my way of relaxing

Verona, ON

Sun is shining here too but it is chilly out right now.

Being working in the yard. That wind sure did a number on the trees.

Hope all is well with everybody.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here Dianne, wind is bitter cold..think we will both be picking up tree branches till fall..bet the TH is enjoying being outside with you.

One more side of the redwork Santa throw to do then it should be warm enough to go outside and work, not sure where to start

Just so you know Melody has made me moderator of the Memory Garden. So if you have anyone to add let me know and I will add them. Well I will try my best. I had dmailed Melody back in March to change the forum so everyone could add a thread but I guess she can't do that. Melody did add Barb to the Memory Garden.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Thank you Elsie. Does the thread reflect this information.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, our humidity is normally under 10%. It is a very dry area and a lot of individuals get Vegas throat, which is a dry raspy throat. We are 103 today and windy. Suppose to cool down to upper 80s by Monday. Remember I suggested you turn your car in when leaving Las Vegas, flying to Riverside and renting a car there for the rest of your trip. Just remember that when you are driving 4 hours across the desert on the way to California. Maybe you will get started really early because your time change will be changed big time.

I did some deadheading of roses and flowers today. Walked the dogs once and getting ready for our afternoon walk. A little cloudy right now which is great because that stops the direct hot sun.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - Carol hadn't given me a peony, but after she passed I was allowed to go to her garden to pick a plant. I got turned around in her neighbourhood (yes, I'd been there before, but someone else had already driven, and my DH will tell you that I don't pay attention when someone else drives), and a lily was put aside for me. That lily didn't "make it" unfortunately. I wish I knew what peony she won prizes for as I'd get one like it. Seems to me that she had a Candy Striper (?) peony.
I just hope these 2 peonies grow well, and produce soon.

Verona, ON

Just want to go on the record here to say that Elsie (Loretta) is an excellent choice as moderator of the Memory Garden.

Now we can all go to the MG . I know Barb is waiting to hear how much we loved and respected her. I will let Norm know.... he'll be very pleased as he knew how much her DG friends meant to her.

They have not changed the info on who to contact on the Memory Garden. I don't know how this will work but I thought I would share this info with you all. There is a new person who is also trying to make the Memory Garden more accessible.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

In TN for about 10 days and then will bring greats home with me for a few weeks. We used to get a month but as they get older, there are more things they are involved in so less time.
Looking forward to Fri. anxious to see how well the quilt will do at auction.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Loretta!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey, I am back on my computer. Thanks to Tyson from admin. Now I can clearly see what I am typing.
Where is Betty today?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Glad you are able to get back on your computer, Linda Kay. Hopefully admin will be a bit more responsive now that they've got a new person on board.

It turned chilly (40's) and rainy overnight. Hoping we'll have decent weather this weekend. Hoping to take the dogs out coursing on Sunday, so good weather would be a plus!

Deb

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Glad you got fixed Linda.

Lyndonville, NY

I will admit I am a bit worried about Bessie Lou.
Last 2 years shortly after doing her Pond Cleaning....she got ill.
Always blamed it on something else, but I have a feeling it is related.

I am sure she is getting her list ready for Mothers Day chores for the boys!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sunshine day but cool..

Omg,omg debbie, you haveme down to a “t” down with a bad cold, what can I blame it on, sweating while cleaning up limbs in the yard..and yes you are right, boys come tomorrow to get my Mother’s Day to do list done, oh happy days

Just got dressed, think mom is dropping in and we are going out to put flowers on her mom’s grave, gravesite is across for chinese food restaurant so likely we will have supper there..then it’s griceries for me, need to go to Canadian tire, battery for rider and step ladder for her then home..

Do want to go out and pick up limbs but not sure I’m up to it, so might just rest, called Ray re spring yard cleaning, he said due to snow/ice storm and then snowstorm they are about 2 weeks behind, promised they would be here Monday or Tuesday, here is hoping!

put embroidery machine on this morning and have 4 of the 10santa’s done, might get most of them done today, wish I had more red mottled fabric to do a few more throws, love the look of them, great Xmas gift, especially if I keep embroidering getting blocks done.

Deb, hope weather is good for you, know how important the training process is.

I got an answer to dg rep, told them how valued you are lindakay to dg and how the people on this thread care about each other and that we are all thinking of not renewing..they said they helped you and if we had other problems just to let them know...here is hoping..

Go8ng to take neocitron and make a list of what I have to do in town, need tubing for 3 new pumps the boys will put in my cement art, battery etc..sure need a list. Lol

My embroidery Santa throw

Betty - Deb sure DOES know you. I'm sure it's the scum from cleaning the pond. Maybe let the boys do it from now on. Glad they're coming to do their Mother's Day chores lol That throw is beautiful!

Glad to hear that you're back online, LK! Would hate to lose you, f'sure!!!

Deb - how are you?

I'm going back to working on the church banner - picking out stitches, and re-stitching lol I have the sew-on seam binding that I'm using for the "leading" in the stained glass look. Hope I can have it done for May 20th service (Pentecost).

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well Betty. Try to get some rest.
I love that Santa quilt.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got back from town, guys are here doing the yard, pleased with that..

Groceries put away, Lordy have to stop buying, nowhere to put anything, both freezers full.

Thanks re santathrow, just finished another set of santas and think I’ve red for one more, rest has to wait until I I can purchase more.

Bought new battery, of course he talked me into a more expensive one, apparently the one on sale isn’t very strong, bought 2-3 ml of antspray, will try that and if not I’ll have someone come and spray the yard, likely cheaper in the long run.

Was going to pick up chinese, seeing mom isn’t coming todaydecided just to buy a turkey hungry man turkey dinner and that will suffice.

Once the yard crew leaves I’ll have a bath, cold meds and have a early night.

Took a couple containers of spaghetti sauce out of the freezer so I’ve lunch for the boys tomorrow..maybe they will change days and come Sunday vs tomorrow and I’ll have thee tea day to cure this cold

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, calling for high of 57,on cool side with rain but I’m ok with that seeing it’s not raining..boys wouldn’t get much done if it did rain..

Head cold no better, will plug through the day as I want the boys to get most of what is on my list if not all..getting a coffee then writing out the do do list, they like having a list so they can mark things off as they go to see they are accomplishing things.

In the meantime I’ve been putting blocks on embroidery machine for a second set of blocks, thinking Christmas gifts lol

Spaghetti sauce not quite defrosted so need to make sure it is as that is our lunch..
If they are still working around supper We will order in chinese.

Best I get a move on or I’ll be on the couch all day and that wouldn’t be good

Hooe you have a sunshine day as well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let’s see how we do today

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a nice list of things to get done.
Wish my boys were closer to help me out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

lol Betty - good thing the boys love you, overwise they may run for the hills, with that list! I'm glad to see you're not attempting these things!

I'm inside working on the banner for the church. I may get it done today, for Pentecost Sunday next week. If done today, I'll bring it to church tomorrow.

Verona, ON

Just a reminder that Melody started a thread for Barb in the Memory Garden.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Dianne - I'll check it out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I can't find the Memory Garden (or Memory, or Memories). Anyone have a link, pls?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well it’s 2pm, list done,
Boys are off to the dump with a load, then picking up a new burner for bbq, hose easy adapter, cover for bbq then back, told me to look around for a few more ‘to do’s. 😁

In the meantime I’ll have a rest, not that I’ve done anything but follow the boys around

Things are starting to come together...

The big laugh was seeing winter took down old branches there was nowhere to hang it from but told them I wanted it hung, on my list..greg gave a million reasons why it couldn’t be done, both said they didn’t know why I wanted it done but jeff said he couldn’t hang it but if I were to move table/chairs over he would hand it, so with a ladder, wire attached to a plastic bag with rock in it I now have a chandelier over. The table, table not entered but will do..

When it came to putt8ng up windows on back entrance to flower garden in different angle so I don’t hit with lawnmower both decided to hang them facing entry into the garden like doors are open..

I get such a kick out of them

Break is over, going to cook some rollsto have with spaghetti when they get back

Ohhh jeff told me he would rather have come and enjoy the day with me and me set a work day for them each season..I said I liked how we celebrate it and get a kick watch all work together along with teasing.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy for you that you got your list done. I can just see you hiding a smile behind your hand when they're teasing each other.
I'm almost finished the banner - still have to put the backing on, then figure out the best way to hang it. I'll be able to take it to church tomorrow, so I'm happy.
