Betty, is there any way you can put up a screen door, to keep him out of the sewing room?
The quilter I got is ages old, no computer but lots of pantographs.. We are working on making arrangements to rent this house and move south. This one will stay on the market so we must be very careful in choosing tenants. Lots to do and nothing is a sure thing as yet.
Oh No.......... Betty, that's terrible! Ziggy likes pins & chewing too much to be around your beautiful quilts!!
Morning, let it snow, let it snow, who said that? Funny, nice weather you never think of where you could drive to, snow day, a zillion places come to mind.
Got a perm yesterday, thought I’d run into midland afterwards but changed my mind due to road conditions, maybe if it clears. Want to look for curtains for spare room and get a heating pad, both can wait if roads are bad.
Karen that might be a difficult one, finding tenants who know the house is on the market and if they show it they will be out of a home, that is why I thought if there was a cottage rental company might be better. Older quilters better..I’m too old for these computerized quilters..ordered a couple of pantograph from sparrow lake, they are so slow in sending out purchases..did get my package of removable rulers.p, haven’t used them though.
Susan, I will cut out 2 hearts in same background fabric and embroidery..might keep this one for a special wedding and make another to replace this one..I’m not a happy camper..
Sciatica giving me the what for so may just knit or do something that doesn’t aggravate it, aren’t I a complainer?
What do you have planned for today, bet most of you are housebound due to weather.
Cold and drizzly here, but I am about to head out the door to the quilting group.
Are you there all day lindakay? Trade you cold day for snowy day. Lol
Still in nighty, what to do what to do???
I'll bet you're not, Betty. All that work, to get wrecked by naughty kitty Ziggy!
LK - hope you keep dry & warm!
We get together at 9, and leave about 4. Sometimes we get a lot of sewing done, sometimes the gabbing can go on for a bit.
That is the fun part of it Linda, the chatting and the friendships made.
Went into town, hot heating pad for my sciatica, new runner for entrance way, laminated wood for the old singer sewing machine stand, glue for wallpaper and home I am.
Roads aren’t that good, what idiots on the road, a car was pulled off on the side, cars in front of me, none behind me, I’m go8ng speed limit and the idiot pulls out right in front of me, I was lucky lucky I was able to stop, madenning part is not 2 minutes up the road did he turn off..
Best I have supper then get comfy in bed, accomplished nothing
EEEEEWWW!!!!! That is nasty. I would contact the company, and let them know.
We have a heated mattress pad on our bed, I turn it on about an hour before bedtime, and crawl into a nice warm bed. It sure helps my sciatica.
I have a sewing question, I don't know if anyone can advise, but maybe offer some suggestions. Our Afghan Club show always offers specially printed t shrits and sweatshirts with the special logo created for that year. This year, the group that's hosting the show have a beautiful logo, but they're only offering t shirts and sweatshirts with the design on the back. I don't like that. Would it be possible, if I bought a couple with the design on the back to cut it out, bought a plain t shirt and sweatshirt, and sewed it to the front? Would there be problems with that? Fabric glue? Would that work? They say the t shrits are 100% cotton, so would the t shirt and sweatshirt I buy need to be 100% cotton?
Morning, it’s a brrrr kind of day in my neighborhood ..
Have a heated mattress cover for my bed as well lindakay but I found when I put heat right to butt it helps and boy does the heating pas heat up, had to use medium setting.
Have thecan and the photo..will bring it in next time I’m in town, not much they can do as they are not the processor.
What did you get accomplished at your auiltinggroup yesterday? How many would bein attendance?
Now I have the wallpaperpasteim hoping to finish my wall, hoping it works then maybe some sewing.
You can cut the back design and sew it to the front of anther t shirt. Keep in mind that t shirts are stretchy, and can be hard to work with.
Maybe get a light weight fusible, and try that way?
OK, thanks, Linda Kay. I haven't ordered the shirts, yet, I know people make quilts out of t shirts, so didn't know if it would be possible to do on a shirt to wear, and have it look decent. To get what I really want, it might be worth a try. I haven't touched a sewing machine since home ec in 7th grade, but I have my mom's old machine here, so maybe I'll find an old shirt, or pick up something at the goodwill store to experiment on first.
I think that's a wonderful idea, Deb.
Betty - glad the heating pad is helping your sciatica. You really suffer from it, so anything that will help, is a good thing.
Linda - how'd the quilting group go? Fun to quilt, and fun to chat. I know, cuz that's what 50% of crafting groups are about. We do like our chatting & coffee & treats at our crafting group (no one does quilting, because we bring our stuff, and no sewing machines).
Trying it out is a good thing Deb..just watch you don’t get addicted to sewing like the rest of us. Lol
Girls that come here to sew are productive even though they chart a lot, I usually edge them on so the cam finish their projects but yes it’s more like a club house than anything else..lol
Yes Susan, I’m paining big time, can barely walk, using chairlift..heat helping somewhat but I can’t just not walk or do anything, that wouldn’t be good either..a.m. sure you all have had it and know how painful it can be.
Several things I need in Barrie, malthough it’s lightly snowing I thought I might push myself and go so that it won’t take up Saturday or Sunday.anxious to get curtains and new bedspreads..promised I’d pick up 2coffee pod machines for the girls as they are on a special sale $39.99, need new microwave, might move the one in the craft room as the one used in craft room is only used to warm up coffee
Still in nighty so will have to get dressed if I plan on doing anything, if I don’t go and someone comes in I’ll just say I was planning an early night thus just putting on m nighty lol
I make a lot of T-shirt quilts. I cut the design out about two inches larger than I want it to end up. Buy the lightest weight iron-on interfacing you can find. I cut it out one inch bigger than I want it. Iron the interfacing to the back of the T design centering as much as you can. I then make the final cut to the exact size I want the design. This is a bit more work but it assures I have interfacing on the entire area I want covered. It will be much easier to manage the design now. Another option is to use Steam A Seam light. It is a double sided iron on. You peel the backing off one side, iron it on to the back of the design, then peel the other side and iron on to the shirt you are adding it to. This fuses the patch to the shirt. and will keep all in place. You can then do a fancy stitch around the edge to keep permanently in place.
Another option might be to turn the shirt around and recut the neckline a bit lower in the back, you could then wear the shirt backwards but it wouldn't look like it was. Maybe even make the new front with a slight V neck. You would need new ribbing for the neckline.
Betty that's just yukky. somewhere on the can should be an online address for the canning company. I would contact them. In this day of everything being mechanical, I can understand it happening but still......
Betty - I've never had sciatica, so can't say how painful it is. I know that you're not one to complain, so if it's paining you Big Time, I just know how painful it Must Be!
Sciatica pain sucks. The pinched nerve in your back goes down your butt, and leg, and it can be very painful.
I've not had sciatica but I do know how painful and debilitating it can be. My hubby has had it and it can put him right to the floor. This aging business sucks at times.
Morning all, omg we got over a food of snow last night..
Got up this morning and was intimidated by the amount I’d have to shovel, had my first cup of coffee and braved clearing off my car, shovelling the driveand was happy to see Andrew pull in with the plow..all in order except for it’s snowing big time, know what I will be doing today, mega trips outside to shovel. On the good side, it’s so very very pretty. Wanted to go to barrie today seeing as I didn’t get there yesterday but unless it stops snowing won’t be going.
Thanks for understanding re my complaining about sciatica, debilitating for sure..guess things could be worse, could be vomiting lol
Great tips on the thirst quilts Karen, I use steam a seam or the like a d find it works well.
Need to go change my jeans as the snow was well over my boots and pant legs soaking wet.
Picture 4 shows the depth of snow we got last night
Betty, don't you have a snowblower? That might be easier on your back.
I do lindakay but it’s only about 30 ft of shovell8ng, by the time I take it out from under the deck it would be more work than shovelling.
Look8ng brighter out there, want to go to barrie at some po8nt if it clears as I want new bedding/quilt and curtains for the room I just did, so do not like color but will have to do until I get more energy..maybe when Darlene gets back she can help me repa8nt
Thank you for the suggestions, Karen!
We had about 5" of snow overnight. Still snowing lightly. The plow still hasn't been down my street. I haven't ventured out, yet. I called in to work earlier, said I'd try to make it, but by the time I got the driveway dug out, just wanted a hot bath and to crawl back in bed! Called back and left a message that I was staying home. Just got the boss's voice mail, so I'm guessing he didn't go in, either!
Good for you Deb, you did say you were quite tired from your trip..do you work weekends? If not then you’ve a few days to recoup.
Finally going to push myself off the chesterfield and go downstairs..my chariot awaits to take me down lol
Betty, we have no where near the amount of snow you do.
The other day (Wednesday) took me 2 hours to drive home from the city,
and it was horrible. BUT my drive in yesterday was fine and roads clear.
Snowing now, but I don't think supposed to get but 2 to 4 inches.....so do NOT send me that mess you have over there.
Dealing with the health issues and trying to get things together before DH is off for surgery next Wednesday. I might need heavy drugs.
Omg is he having yet another operation on his hand? Know it wasn’t fully healed, hope this one works. Big smile, know how much you love him home lol
I’m planning to cross the border Sunday and return Monday so hop8ng whatever snow you get will be f8nished by then or else I’ll not go.
Are you finished your tests and have results? Worry about you girl.
Waiting for l8ndakaylindakay to let me know if it’s snowing 8n barrie, snowing lightly here so must wait then decide if I’m going
In the meantime I’ll make a list of what I want so I don’t come home with only 1/2of what I want
Betty I had a lot of bloodwork last Friday, saw doc on Wednesday.
My thyroid numbers are super messed up. SO have adjustments with that.
Start classes Monday night for diabetes, learning to manage.
Then yesterday was the eye doctor and they are a mess also. 2 eye drops and my eyes are "rejecting" my contact lenses. He is afraid that if they reject me wearing my contacts....they will probably reject corneal transplants when time comes and I will end up with no vision. SO....I am a mess.
*Hugs* Debbie - this must be so stressful for you, to have to newly deal with diabetes.
Oh, and your eyes - scary. How much in the future are they talking about corneal transplants? Would wearing glasses be an option if contact lenses aren't, and would they help to the point where you wouldn't need corneal transplants? The only thing I can think is that as time goes on, medical work gets better, so the longer you can wait, the better for you.
Hope your DH's hand operation is successful this time.
*Hugs* Betty - you're right, I guess. It's better than vomiting. It's been quite awhile since you had that issue, and I'm really glad of it. Sharp shooting pain cuz of sciatica sounds horrible though.
I'd best get back to typing, after making lunch for Bob & I. I spent lunchtime at my friends, having coffee with her & another friend. It was nice.
Sorry to hear you are going through so many medical issues Debbie. Praying an an easy solution to all of them.
Oh Debbie that is scarry for sure..asking like Susan, could you start wearing glasses? Toyou likely will find the course very informative, is class in Rochester? Wouldn’t want to do that in the evening during w8nter months.
Susan, not that long ago, think it was late November when I spent the better part of the week in the hospital.
Made it to barrie, didn’t stay around to look, it was pick up what I needed and home.
Looked several stores for drapes, small window so looked for 54” long, no could find so finally gave up and bought fabric to make a set, guess that is a tomorrow to do.
Forgot my color swatches for bedspread in room I just painted so didn’t buy one but did buy a light coloured one for bedroom, I’ve good quilts but don’t use them as Ziggy likes to scratch and loves laying on the bed so it will have to do..now to find a place to store the Xmas one.
Also bought some beige fabric for a backing and some wool to finish the neck warmer..
Last stop was factory direct, picked up pod coffee machine for Aline and June, a microwave for me..think I’ll put new one in craft room and take the one downstairs to replace one in kitchen.
Pleased I went to Barrie withought fighting a storm, with snow for the next few days I’ll not be saying I should be going to Barrie.
Lindakay are you travelling, meeting up with Nanna??
Betty, I have had sciatica. Last time I had a real bad episode, I had an out patient procedure from a Pain Doctor. They take an MRI, zero in on the problem and then you are put out, placed on your stomach and given a shot in the area they feel is causing the problem. I caused the problem getting out of bed. I was swinging my leg over to get out of bed and caught my foot in the top sheet. Instant sciatica pain. I tried to get it well but finally gave up and went to the pain doctor. That was close to 2 years ago. I can tell all of you that have not had it, it is like a hot knife burning in your butt and down you leg. Sometimes you cannot find a position to get in that will make the pain go away.
We were 77 degrees today and all of the trees are budding out. I have been cleaning out pots and then cleaning, using a wire brush to get rid of caked on dirt or pealing paint and then repainting. Many of these pots are clay. I bought them when they were on sale because they were this awful mustard yellow. I painted them an autumn brown. Some of the pots I had pots, in pots and some were directly planted into. The pots do soak up irrigation so if the plant needs to stay moist, I plant a pot in a pot.
I sent that because I did not want to lose it.
Vern had three doctor's appointments this week. All went well and next appointments are in 6 months unless he gets ill. Most worrisome was going to three different doctor's offices and not catch anything.
We very seldom go out to eat. Last week for his birthday (85) after a Dr. appointment, we went to breakfast. We took his CNA with us and that made it easier. Yesterday after Dr. appointment, we went to Olive garden for lunch/dinner at 3:30pm. Probably have not been out to eat for over 2 years. We were both shocked at the cost of restaurant food. We are both spoiled because I cook and plan ahead all of our meals. At Olive Garden, they helped place Vern in a regular chair and babied him totally. They even helped me take him to the car and got him in the car.
He threw up today around 2pm so I need to go find something fr him to eat because I have pasta for dinner and I do not think that is what his stomach needs today.
Geraniums in bloom. They are all in pots.
