Thank you for posting it!!
Evening all, typed something this morning, must have forgotten to press send.
Holy wah, bitter cold, left to do groceries this afternoon, nice drive in, came out of grocery store and a blizzard going on..
Did some stores, likely a bit too many because when I was leVing grocery store leg was so bad had to get help out with groceries..have to smile, you know you are old when the young man who is helping says when you say thank you, ‘always help my grannie out as well’ lol. Br8ng8ng them into the house was another matter.
So now I’ve supper, going to eat, have a hot bath (more like boiling) with Epson salt and maybe knit while watching a movie.
I
How about you all, surely you’ve done something more exciting with your day than I?
Remind me in the morning to discuss seeing the dead??
Asking for prayers, a bus carrying students from Hamilton that was transport8ng kids from a ski trip to blue mountain was in an accident..air ambulances called in..am sure many a parent are getting calls as it seems many are badly injured..
This message was edited Feb 2, 2018 5:47 PM
seeing the dead?!?!?!? that sounds like quite the conversation we're going to have tomorrow..........
I emptied a bookshelf, so we can move it (not tonight) and I can wallpaper behind it. Got some paintable wallpaper, and I really like the raised design.
I finished the prayer shawl, and will meet Linda on Monday to give it to her.
I'm organizing my crafts - quilt materials, yarn, etc. and setting stuff aside so we can sell on the community's Yard Sale in May. I know, it's early days yet, but need to get things organized in this place, and this will help.......
Betty, I heard about the accident with the kids, too horrifying !! Prayers out for the injured and their families.
It's -30F this morning .. poor dogs are suffering .. none will tolerate 'booties', so, out they go, but no more than 2 minutes ..
My only sibling left, DB, Bob, is having issues with his heart .. will be undergoing an angiogram on Feb 16 ... never been sick a day in his life ... 6 grown kids and 14
Grandkids. He is 82, he and his wife live here in TBay.
Busy days here ... seems appointments just keep popping up ..and, being out in this cold, is NO fun !!
Take care everyone
~M~
Morning everyone, buried deep in snow, Lordy talk about a heavy fall and still coming down..pretty but yuk..also have the frigid temps “M” like you.
Must getupdate on the accident, sure hope no fatalities.
Just finishing hot chocolate, have old grubs on and ready to wash the walls, remove wallpaper border and if I’ve energy left or if the sciatica cooperates, been bad of late, perhaps a few Tylenol 3 might help get through this work day lol
Will add your brother to my prefer list “M”, you all must be worried..with all these appointments I hope end result is your health is improving and Lorna’s new prothesis is fitting well.
Susan, think we are both in spring cleaning mode
Karen, haven’t seen you post in a bit, unusual, hope you are ok.
Lindakay, how’s the sew8ng with your new group?
Deb, sharon is going next week to NYC for the Westminster Dog Show, last year she will show Kelli but says she will then start showing another of her dogs..how are your shows progressing, another in the near future.
Deb, if you have this snow I’m sure you will be out taking photo’s as it’s breathtaking out there.
Dianne, know you get your drive done but with this amount of snow who does all your pathways? Was thinking of the amount I’d snow thatneeds to be shovelled and it came to mind, if I don’t go out until spring I won’t have to shovel 🤣
Ok now for my off the wall story..
Last weekend while at khol’s in Buffalo I was in the bedding department and I turned around and there was jim my stepfather, as he walked away I followed him, I swear it was he, then at joanns Barb was going through bolts of fabric, I just wanted to go and talk with her, as I walked towards her the lady turned, not her but for awhile it was.
Yesterday I was at the bank, came out and there walk8ng was Debbie, my girlfriend who passed just before Christmas, thought, should go gab, catch up to her and then a big sigh, I remembered it couldn’t be her..silly right??
Sounds like you will be bust, don't over do it.
I have done that too, after my Mom passed, we were at a yard sale, and I swear my Mom was walking around. That lady looked just like my Mom.
Our sewing group is doing good with the kids quilts. I have made 4 so far this year. The kids will have lots this year. When we are done with the kids quilts, we will make lap quilts for the nursing home.

Very productive and for a good cause lindakay..how big are the kids quilts?
Got half bedroom washed and wallpaper border off, going to sit, have coffee and move on the the second half..hard when the furniture is still in the room...when I did the other bedroom in the summer it was after the flood and it was empty..in no time it was painted.
No end to this snow, want some lindakay?
NOI! You can keep that snow!
Quilts are 64 X 74. Twin size.
That is big, are you responsible for the quilting as well?
Andrew came to plow once already, am sure he will have to come back later, calling for 3 more snow days..
Going to make grilled cheese n onion then get my paint out..have 2 walls taped and ready to paint
Don’t want to sit too long or I’ll never get back up to paint
All the quilts are, quilt as you go. Easy to do.
Well guys, today we are having a high of 76. Spring flowers are starting to show their little heads above ground. WL said this warmth will be here until at least Feb. 15 and then who knows what.
My new garden company comes on Fridays, so on Thursday I raked the back landscape, moved around pots and made about 10 small piles. Left them for them to pick up. Then I loved to the front and did the same thing an trimmed a lot and left it in several piles. They might get the hint or each week I will just go out and trim and leave piles. Trimming is easy and enjoyable. Cleaning up is the hard work.
Vern turned 85 on Tuesday and has now decided that some of his prescriptions he is not going to take. i stayed diligent yesterday and by the end of the day he taken them all. This morning he took three. About 10 left. I just took them off the table and put them in a bowl. He knows I am not a happy camper and he will really know when his TV remote person (me) does not function tonight and he has to watch the commercials. I mute the TV so I do not hear anything on the TV. He wears the TV listening ears.
Betty, I have dreamed many times that my father died and then came back to life and is still alive many years after returning. My dreams are weird because they are like a series and always pick up where I left off.
My brother's wife died and I swore I saw here in the grocery store a few weeks later. She could have been her twin. Really startled me.
It is that time of day for the dogs 2nd walk and get the mail.
Hello to everyone. Stay warm. Our town is full of Super Bowl fans for the big Super Bowl hotel parties.
Sharon, startled me as well, omg how can there be so many twins in the world, odd feeling for sure..
Sounds as though you do a lot of the work before the workers come lol know you enjoy your gardens,I so envy you, spring flowers, gee whiz, likely I won’t seesoring flowers till end of May if not in June so I will just have to enjoy your gardens as you post photo’s. Laughing, can just see you not hearing the channel has to be changed..one channel changed, one pill taken...why did he decide no more pills, not giving up is he?
Lindakay, you will have to show me your quilt as you go method, the ones I tried I’m not fond of
speaking of not fond, I’m not fond of Ziggy today, went to craft room and he pulled pins from quilt I had on frame, luckily on half is off frame, hoping I can easily reattached..he lobes grabbing the knobs on pins and flipping them all over the room..grrr
Well I’m done painting, tomorrow if I am not too sore will do one wall with wallpaper and put border on the rest of the walls, if too sore then Monday is another day.lots to clean up in the room but it too can wait another day..got what I set out to do today.
I’m not into football but imagine you all have a favourite team, some of you will win, some will lose
This message was edited Feb 3, 2018 6:13 PM
I knew there was a story there, Betty, but THREE instances in one day?!? Someone's watching over you, for sure.
Can imagine you're not happy with Ziggy - naughty boy!
You're wallpapering as well, Betty? What a coincidence
Sharon, you're quite the busy little bee, aren't you?
Happy Birthday to Vern!
LK - four quilts? That's fantastic. The kids will appreciate them, for sure.
I'll meet up with Linda to give her the prayer shawl, on Monday.
Did some wallpapering today - paintable, and cream/white. Bob & I may not paint it. It looks nice as it is. Raised pattern.
Morning, been outside digging myself out and moved the car so Andrew and do both sides of the drive. Not easy shovelling 1 1/2ft of snow..still snowing so thought I best get out early and get it done..
Susan I painted mine, I had made a fireplace/shelving for the bedroom and bought wallpaper and with brown, dry brush of gold it looks like tin..not the best photo..only doing one wall susan and border on remaining walls.
Weatherman says a relatively weak front moving through, he best come here and see what we have and what is yet to come today, won’t wait til tomorrow, will go out periodically so it’s easier for me. Sure miss the young man who was visiting next door over for him to do it..oh well, big sigh
Having coffee then have to go out and do the other 1/2 of the walkway. Hard to tell depth in photo’s seeing all is white
Guess what ? It's snowing ...... another day of it tomorrow too.
Last night before dusk I glanced out the east facing windows and saw the most wonderful sight. There was a healthy looking fox who was looking back at me. The key word is 'healthy'. We've had a couple of years with some not so healthy fox and those of us with dogs were quite concerned.
Good to see you Sharon.
Deb I was watching a commercial for Westminister and 1 fellow was saying he does anywhere from 146 to 170 shows each year. Does that sound right ?
Betty in the TV ad for Westminister there was a dog that looked like your sister's. Is it Inuk ? I think that's his name.
Stay safe, warm and well
Dianne

We are getting much the same Dianne..deer have been crossing in the yard, must be feeling safe as is your fox..good winter for them I think.
Could be inuk, he gets a lot of publicity..sharon leaves on Wednesday, driving to nyc, braver than I with the weather being as it has been, she has another friend meeting her, she is coming from Detroit way amd they will drive together, here is hoping the end of the week is snow free. Last year they hit major storms, no fun.
Lordy, do you ever make a mess when doing one room, junk all over the place. Took out a batik paper picture that I did many years ago, would match the color in the freshly painted bedroom, drats layer something on the side and broke glass..large piece, guess I will have to order new glass tomorrow, clumsy I am, that or tired.
Got the entire pathway shovelled and it’s been snowing heavily so think I’ll go out and give it a quick shovel again before I’m lifting a foot of snow
Betty, the quilts we make are made with fabric cut the width of the fabric, 6 & 1/2 inches wide. One of the strips is cut in half and sewn to the other piece, to make each piece 1 & 1/2 long. So each piece is about 64 inches long. Then you layer the front piece, batting and back piece, sew the edges, the keep adding layers till you get 14 strips on the quilt. Bind it and you are done. This is one I am working on.
Ahhh that would work, very colourful, kids must be beyond excited to get them. Very worthwhile project...is there a goal they set or you just do when you can?
Just went and shovelled again, makes life easier when you can push the shovel vs filling shovel and lifting to throw over snowbank.
Just tidied up a bit, put pizza in oven, once I have lunch I’ll have a nap then see what I shall get done, so would like to finish this project.
Was going to go fill front birdfeeder, it’s on it’s side with snow draped in it..guess it has to be cleaned before I can fill it.

No goal is set. There are usually about 25-30 kids in the home, when we reach that goal, we will make lap quilts for our local nursing homes.
So they stay locally, that is good. I always think you live in a very rural community, am I correct or is the home and seniors home in a nearby community?
Just went out and shovelled, Lordy its a full time job this weekend.
Put border on the 3 walls, looked at the wall that needs wallpapering and said, ‘not today!’
Eucalyptus Epson salt in hot bath, then hot chocolate is in the offing..can always do next shovelling in Jammie’s. Lol
How wonderful that you're doing stuff for the kids, and the seniors. We don't have a nursing home in Torrington, so have to reach out to other communities.
I'm sure those care homes thank you for doing this, LK!
That looks beautiful, Betty!
Nursing homes are here in town. The home for the kids is about 90 miles from here. The kids are from all over Texas.
Just got home from a trip to Atlanta. Dog shows Fri and Sat, and dropped off the puppy boy from my last litter, picked up his sister, Teagan, who I left with a handler when I was in Ocala, FL last November. The house is sure quiet without that little boy running around! I really hated to leave him. Tried to talk his owner, co-breeder on the litter, in to leaving him up here longer, but she really wanted him.
Doing laundry, still need to finish emptying out the car.
Deb
Then your town is fairly large Lindakay to have nursing home.
Deb, hope you didn’t run into a storm on your way home, how did your dogs make out at the show..ohhh how photogenic, is that Teagan? Adorable..
Always so much to do when you get home.
awwwwwww Teagan's gorgeous! Such soulful eyes, too
Betty, I've had the same experience when a loved one has passed. I think our hearts are missing them so much, it gives us just a glimpse to ease our pain.
Just got home today from TN. Dang it's cold here, Thinking we will look into renting this place out until it sells and rent a place down there. This cold is just wearing me down.
Very proud of my DGD Jessica. she just made her first QOV all by herself. At least she got the top done and will be doing the rest.
Betty, our town is small, only about 30,000 here, but we have like 6 nursing homes.
Love that picture of your dog Deb.
Great job on that quilt Karen.
wow - you're up late, Linda!!
Was watching the football game with Todd. Just waiting for meds to kick in so I could go to sleep.
Beautiful quilt, Karen! The picture is Andy, the boy I left with my friend in Florida. I miss him so much! Still tired from the trip, but, back to work!
Ahhh was going to say good morning but it’s already afternoon..holy wah
Still snowing and blowing, soon time to go shovel again.
Well I’m sure Andy is missing you Deb..funny how you can get attached to one furry more than others..hope she gives you updates.
So whose team won??? Didn’t realize it went on so late, was the commercials good and entertainment spectacular?
I think your town lindakay is much like Midland, have to check on its population, we’ve many nursing homes as well.
You were away Karen? was fretting..
As long as you get good tenants it sounds like a great idea..do you have a local company that rents out cottages/homes during prime time and look after cleaning etc? Think Judy has a service like that and rents out their cottage.
That is one beautiful quilt Karen, hmm not Jessica’s I’m sure..isn’t it wonderful to have a child join in as Jessica has, you must get such a sense of achievement as she sees each stitch
Ohhhh what a wonderful way of explaining the sightings of dear friends/relatives who have passed on.
Having trouble with the wallpaper I bough..did the preposterous kind and it’s not very pasted as the edges are turning. Grrr half done so I’ll keep trying my best.
Did hear some good news, Braedon who is in BC at University just got accepted in an exchange in Germany, don’t have particulars right now, hoping to get some tonight.
What else??
I went around each room in the house and took inventory of little jobs that need doing, some 15 minutes but nothing I can personally do so contacted the boys and said for my 70th on id like them both to come and get my list of to do’s done, they answered with a ‘no problem’. I’m excited about that.
Still having trouble with furnace shutt8ng down once a night, they’ve changed almost every part including the mother board last Friday, now they say maybe I need more duct work so either tonight or tomorrow Greg will drop in, take measurements and do more duct work, we will see if that works.
Family day is Monday the 19th so if weather cooperated Suzanne and I will take a quick trip to Buffalo for the night, need to return her Jammie’s I got her for her birthday and she a sweater she bought her hubby for Christmas and of course a drop into joannslol
Cooking chicken and sliders, greg’s favourite so if he drops in tonight he can take home a dish.
Well I’ve 2 strips of wallpaper on the wall, need about 4 more so best I get at it.
Betty, I sure hope you can get that furnace fixed. Seems like a lemon car, all you do is keep putting more money into it.
Football game was between the Philadelphia Eagles, and the New England Patriots, The Eagles won. I am not into football that much, so I just get comfy on the sofa, and pretend I am watching.
I think this was the funniest commercial. A lot of the commercials were on the political side.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnnaXfhVoas&feature=player_embedded
So far all parts have been covered, just annoying
Heard lots of feed back Re political commercials
I watched this video, cute but what were they advertising? Lol. I’m dense
Noah dropped in for a visit, just as he was leaving greg dropped in, had supper with me, did some measuring for a piece of duct work, going to try something, gave him a bag of goodies I bought for him in Buffalo and home he went
I have half the wall wallpapered, glue on oreoaste just not good so will get to midland and buy wallpaper glue, between both it should work
Girls come tomorrow then I get a perm in the afternoon so likely no time to play with wallpapering anyway.
What did you all get up to today?
Dianne, you snowed in?
I spent the day cleaning...how does the house get messed up when we are gone?
Needed to wash some T shirts for a quilt. Cooked a duck for dinner....not one of ours. Hopefully tomorrow will be a sewing day or at least a cutting out day.
Jessica has already played with the quilter, she's much braver than I, also there is a friend who will help her. I'm sure she will be doing the long arming before me.
Betty - nice that your furnace is covered, but how annoying is that? having it shut down at night when it's the coldest, is not good.
They still sell wallpaper paste? Great idea. Hope your wallpaper does better.
Just home from Calgary / Didsbury - roads in Calgary were slippery, but ok in Didsbury & Torrington & the highway was fine too.
Now, I don't have to go to Calgary for another 3 months, for my next renewal of my prescription......... my Dr was out of the country, or the Dr I saw would have given me a prescription for 6 months. However, AHS won't pay for more than 3 months at a time. I've been taking it for 50 years with no problem. Maybe they're afraid I'll pass away & they'll have paid for nothing lol Seriously though - maybe they'll also think I'll change to a new med? Nope, this one works well for me, so why would they change it now?
Betty, that commercial is just saying that all football players are always doing things to get ready for the next game. Dancing keeps them limber.
Morning from snowy Victoria Harbour..been out shovelling. Did my steps and by the time I shovelled walkway, got snow off my car, garbage to roadside I had to do the stairs again...
Karen did you buy a Quilter? If so I’m very excited for you! Don’t think I ever ate duck, bravest I’ve ever been was rabbit, well not brave, didn’t know and when I found out I was so sick.
Guess you will wait for spring before renting out?
Susan, found it surprising when I went to color your world in search of wallpaper, seems all you have to paste, there were only a few rolls pre pasted thus the reason for my choice. Yes, dressers, bed had to be moved, I know, I know but when you want to do a project and you are alone you have no option.
I had a prescription similar to you re 6months..my pharmacist gave me meds for the 3months, kept script on file and after 3 months renewed the 2nd half, not sure why yours can’t do that.
Laughing lindakay, here I was watching it a few times to see what they were advertising.
Not sure the girls will come in this weather, if they don’t then I will quilt those 2 block of the month pieces and also want to hang my block hanging 7nit I took off the wall when we painted. 8n craft room after the flood, think I can attach it to wall behind the Quilter.
Been using the chairlift but the few trips down the back steps to put out garbage has irritated the sciatic nerve, doesn’t take me.
Off to make a coffee then sit and watch the snowfall.
I did buy the quilter but "The Beast" as we are calling it is 14 feet long so it stayed in TN. It can be shortened and a quilting friend told me it needs to be no longer than 10 feet so we will take care of that soon.
DGD is having fun playing with it and getting the feel of how it works.
