Getting used to wake up mid night to reset furnace, they have tried everything to get it working, after about 7 visits from furnace place they finally said they are ordering new Computer Board , might be in tomorrow..I’ll have to ask them if it comes in after 3 tomorrow to wait until Monday..greg will have to come restart it I go to Buffalo..always something isn’t it.

Suzanne is waiting for appt to have heart monitor put on her, other than that she says she is feeling ok..and 2 Solstice quilt

I'm playing with quilt blocks - RWB 2012, from Barb, Dorothy, Kathy, Karen, Charlene, Jaye, Linda Kay, Marion & Thunder

Kinda grumpy today, so working on the blocks is good therapy. We switched from the full pkg of tv channels to a Lite pkg, and we get NetFlix instead - much less expensive.
Well, they gave us our new channel lineup, but it was wrong, so I called them and they gave me a new set (wrong city, so the #s are wrong). They sent us another set of channel #s and it's missing some that we found out (from the 2nd contact) that we DO get, so now I'm totally confused and frustrated. Sorry, don't need "described video" where they talk us through the whole tv show, and can't understand the French. oh, and the HD channels we're supposed to get - we're rural, so we don't. I've emailed them - let's see what we get for an answer now.
I know, this is petty, compared to health issues, but I'm grumpy all the same.
Time to quilt.............. or crewel work - both are good stress busters, right?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new thread.
I love those blocks Betty.
Susan, I agree. I love my quilting therapy.
I am working on a baby quilt for my niece. Sun bonnet sue.

Good luck Susan, 8m thinking of changing my paxpckage as well bit don’t knoeid I want the hassles so be grumpy, can understand why..

Love the sunbonnet sue quilt lindakay..

Betty - if you change your tv pkg, do what my DH Bob does - get someone else to fix the tech problems LOL unfortunately for me, that's ME lol
btw - for all the frustration (yes, my last email started with 'arrrrrrgh' lol) they've given us a $10 discount, which is in addition to the $70 they took off which was the early disconnection of the full pkg. So, our bill this month is $80 lighter - that's a Good Thing.
They sent me, via email, a link to find out the channels we have. The channels are listed by name, so now I'm going through the Search option on our tv looking for the name, so I can find out what the channel # is lol For $80 off our bill, I guess I can expend that mental energy lol

Morning, winds up but it’s not a snow day or rain day so I’m happy..took snow off of car, now to let it run a tad To get ice off of car

You made a good deal Susan, that is a big savings..meant to ask, Bob was suppose to start a new job, did he?

Almost packed, likely leave here around 11:30 , 2 hr drive to pick up mom and then
1 1/2 hrs to Buffalo.. need to take inventory before I go so I’m not just picking up items at joanns for the sake of buying at discounted prices

Greg will drop in from time to time to check on sump pump and furnace, sometimes I think how stress free it would be to live in an apartment.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob was supposed to start doing floor cleaning for a friend of hers, but her hubby had a fit about it and said they could clean their own floors. She has bad knees and can't get down to do a proper job.
Also, he was supposed to work at the Arena, but the fellow (Chester) who would pay him wasn't prepared to let go of some of the funds he got from the people who run the Arena, and they'd said that Chester is the one who'd pay from what they pay Chester. Chester gets $5k/month to take care of the ice (curling rink, and skating rink) and the cleaning. Chester doesn't like to clean, so that's what Bob was to do. Oh well, que sera sera

Sorry it didn’t work out for Bob Susan..

Just crawled into bed, sad when mom the elder sees I can’t keep up amd suggest an early night lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

At least she sees this and suggests an early night! Take it easy, and sleep well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a safe trip Betty. I hope you get what you need with discounts.

Shopped all day, so glad after eating a big lunch that mom said she didn’t feel like going out for supper cause it took me but a few seconds to get into Jammie’s lol

Feeling sad for my neighbour. Her hubby passed away unexpectedly yesterday, in his sleep. They'd just gotten home from Mexico, and this was their first night home. He was my age - 63. Just had his birthday Jan 10th, in Mexico. She's devastated - and doesn't know what to do. They'd only been married 17 years. Good thing her daughter came here from Calgary and is staying with her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Susan. Sending prayers.

Verona, ON

Oh Susan I am so sorry to hear about your neighbour. Sending prayers of comfort.

Hope you had a safe weekend traveling .

Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm knitting a Prayer (comfort) shawl for her - may only get 2 1/2 ft before I run out of wool (Bernat blanket wool), so will have to run into town to get more. A soft cream coloured, and I have a tag for it that I think she'll like

Evening all, perfect weekend weather wise for travelling to Buffalo, got home around 5:30 tired as can be..had a nap, guess who is wide awake now?

Could be because I was waken by a phone call...old friend called to tell me that Betty a friend from years ago passed..what a battle she had over decades with cancer.

Sorry to hear news of your neighbors death Susan.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had good weather Betty, sorry to hear about your friend. Sending prayers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

*gentle hugs* Betty - sorry to hear about your friend

I just heard from my friend, Linda. She's gone to stay with her daughter in the City. She called & I told her whenever she comes back, to let me know as I have a Prayer shawl for her. She's so tired, poor lady.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

skip the recipe, read the comments, then make the recipe lol

Yummy Susan, too many calories for me lol..sure enjoyed the read though.

Sharon came for the day, left at 3:30, said she hit a snow storm from just north of barrie right to Orangeville.

Here we had about 20 snowflakes, might get it tonight though.

Suzanne was out shopping and dropped in for a bit so now that company is gone, I’ve had my bath, hot chocolate to warm tummy I’m ready to get comfy in bed.

What did you all do today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How is Suzanne doing?
I had to go see my Dr. to get pain meds refilled. My appt was at 10, and I did not get home till 2:30. Sure messes up a day.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Wow - it's +6 celsius now, at 11:30pm!!!

quite the story, eh Betty? The lady with the optimism in the brownie recipe & story had just broken both her legs. If I remember correctly, it was in a horse accident (horse fell on her? not sure). Love her optimism though......

LK - when an appointment is in the middle of the day like that, it really does mess up your day. My knee Dr tries to schedule us for as early as possible (sometimes @ 8:30am) and with our 1 hr drive, we're leaving home @ 7:15am. Ah well, we get home in good time, so it's a good thing.

Betty - did you get a lot of snow overnight?

Lyndonville, NY

We have about 5 inches of snow, and more coming. They said temps are dropping a lot the next week.

Not much happening in my corner of the world....I will be thankful for that!!! Doing bits and pieces of little stuff around the house and need to corral up the fur-tumbleweeds.

Debbie

Snowed all day. The lane is in a horrible state. I went out after my cleaning lady arrived. She warned me the lane was very slippery. It sure was..... snow over all that ice from last week. I was to have my mammogram today but by the time I got to IGA I turned around and came home. Scheduled for another day.

Early to bed tonight. Not to sleep but to get comfy and read. The TH are still refusing to use their new beds.

Stay safe, warm and well everyone.
Dianne and her TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm glad you didn't go out and could reschedule, Dianne. It's worrying to go out when it's slippery like that.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Anyone heard from Betty, she did not post anything yesterday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Was a busy day yesterday, thought I had posted

Been having problems with my furnace since mid December, outcome yesterday is I need all new duct work, drats that won’t be cheap but it’s got to get done..

Dianne, got your storm, snowing like crazy, was nice last week go8ng out without boots, spoilt me.

Debbie when you finish with tumbleweeds come coral mine..can’t believe how much hair one little kitty can shed.

Lindakay I made late appointment tomorrow, that way I can do it, go shopping and not lose the day. Almost seems a waste to make appointment just for renewal of drugs.

Likelygirls who come tonight wontbecause of weather, but that is ok, I’m tired out bynight time

Think I will play in sewing room today

Verona, ON

Afternoon folks !!

Still snowing. The snow is falling sideways so that's not a good thing.

Had to go up the lane to get something from my neighbour when I lived in the farm house. Lane was in much better shape this morning but I imagine it has going down hill now.

Someone is moving in to a place on the lane today. I saw 3 of the hills were very heavily sanded so they must have been worried about getting in. To my surprise their moving truck was on Desert Lake Rd. It was only the size of a Box truck so they could have come in with that. On my way back in I met the van they were using to bring everything in. We met at a bad curved corner and I said you could have got in with your truck. The movers were worried about meeting someone on the lane. I guess because I know this lane so well I forget to someone new it would be challenging.

Stay safe, warm and well
Dianne

Snowing all day here as well Dianne, brrr temps are dropping, I’m chilled even with the heat turned up..how I wish I had your wood stove Dianne. I would think after the many years you’ve lived there you know every crook and cranny in the road...still treacherous though!

Worked on a Valentine’s Day piece today, even got the border hand sewn on and it’s fini..

I'm with you, Betty - making an app't to renew drugs can be a hassle. We have to drive an hour to get to my Dr....... blech
If it's storming, Betty & Dianne, best to stay in.

Dianne - your new neighbours moved in a snow storm? Yikes!

Yesterday at crafting, I was introduced to a new knitting project - Twiddlemuffs. They're for people with dementia (or others who fidget with their hands). It's to calm them down.
Basically, it's made with 2 strands of knitting worsted, or one strand of bulky yarn (which I'm knitting with now). 40 stitches on size 7 (the pattern says 6.5mm straight or 8mm circular? don't know why straight or circular would change the size needle), and you knit for 11 rows of straight knitting. Then they're sewn together and sent to the care home or hospital. They attach things to them for the patient to "twiddle" with.
As I'll have a lot of this wool left over after I've knitted this prayer shawl, I'll make some. They sure will be easy. I can make several in one day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I love that valentine topper.

Susan, that sounds interesting.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Ok I'm officially confused - someone mentioned a Jelly Roll Race Quilt in another thread, and I googled it. Saw it being made, but not really close up. Showed how the first 2 lengths got sewn together, and then nothing close up afterwards........ and then she clipped and cut apart some loops, but again - not close enough to see what she was cutting, and what she clipped........
I have jelly rolls that I would love to use, but I guess I won't do them this way.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Go to you tube. They are easy to do.

As someone who knows nothing about quilting what is a jelly roll ?

When I met up with Barb and Thea for a weekend at Thea's home of course we went to a fabric store. I guess my eyes must have been rolling back into my head as I didn't understand the lingo.I said I would go outside with the guys to wait. Barb was laughing when she saw me just out of my element. It was the fat quarters that really got to me. I did enjoy watching Barb and Thea have a good time though.

Snow has stopped but a deep freeze and more snow. oh joy!!
Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

A jelly roll is a group of fabrics all cut the width of the fabric, 2 & 1/2 inches wide. There are usually 40 fabrics per roll.
This is a jelly roll quilt.

There are many ways to sew a jelly roll quilt.

Morning all, another snow day and guess who has to push herself to get dressed, get pathways cleared as she has a doctors appointment this afternoon. Grrr

Big smile here Dianne, can see how you would be confused with the terminology lol
Just yesterday I watched a tutorial and forget what they called the new packets that are but in triangles.what is nice buying these packages ie jelly rolls is they are all color coordinated. Fat quarters is what I’m doing my new quilt in, done in earth tones, will be a keeper for sure.

Time for toast and hot chocolate

Verona, ON

Thanks LK - understand the term now. The photo really helped.

Holy wan..went to doctors and could barely find my way home..should have cancelled my appointment but youhave a few week to wait when you cancel so thought better of it, stormy...
