FAS is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, when the mother drinks heavily during the pregnancy. Causes permanent damage to the child. In our case it was crack cocaine but causes damage none the less. Our girl does good in some areas but struggles in others. She is a prodigious reader, books are always what she asks for. Math is totally beyond her, She is very impulsive and doesn't understand teasing. Some things you can tell her over and over and it just doesn't sink in. A really worrisome area is she doesn't understand boy girl relationships and is too trusting. There have been some problems at school over that as boys can easily lead her on. She will graduate next June, that will remove that worry. She is very good at watching little children and loves to cook so her mom is looking to see what she can do in the future. Her living independently is very doubtful as she is way too trusting and easily taken advantage of.

God bless her and you..she sounds a lot like Sue Taynor,# Jessica so yes worrisome for sure.

Going to curl my hair and get dressed, not as nauseated today but then I’ve not eaten anything!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending our prayers and condolences Betty.

Lyndonville, NY

Good afternoon....

My condolences Betty, such a beautiful life and marriage she had.

My apologies to my Santa Warren buddy.....it is being mailed tonight or morning,

Someone took a spill in the basement and she is black and blue. Had a horrible time getting out to finish, and in and out of the car is not fun. To lift legs into the car, I am suffering. BUT it is now boxed and ready.....and DH or DS will take it for me and post!!!

COLD here. about 16 last I looked and we have snow expected until Sunday.

Stay safe, stay warm......and behave!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Debbie, you truly are an accident waiting to happen, glad you didn’t break a hip/arm/leg or all. Good lord looking after you.

Yes she had if anyone can say it would be her and uncle Louis. He survived the war and was grateful for smallest of things and he certainly treasured her. Even in his voice when he spoke to her and you could see it in his eyes..big sigh

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still in Jammies, snowing, blowing..grrr
Don’t want to drive to barrie in this

Life is short, called Greg, he is going to stop off at hummingbird sewing Center and picking up a janome horizon 8200 with an 11” throat, why not!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Debbie. Do we need to send you the bubble wrap?
Praying you heal quickly.

Per Diannes request.....

Here is her wonderful Santa Warren gift she received from Barb:

That is an awesome box of goodies, even treats for the thundering herd!

Verona, ON

Thanks Debbie. I need to have some lessons on how to post a pic. Poor Debbie got all 15 photos that I have sent out from my phone. I didn't even realize that was happening until my friend in Egypt started up a new message so it wasn't as confusing..

Barb really spoiled me.. You can't really see the gorgeous table mat that everything is on. It is beautiful even more so as I know she made it. There were treats for the TH and Sassy the cat. She loves the Pounce. I haven't seen it here on the shelves for 2 or 3 years.

There was a lovely black vest in the upper right corner of the photo. I like to dress in layers when I got out with the TH. This was perfect and passed the TH sniff test.

I love the moose and Barb also sent along NH's Moose Poop.

She remembered I like to colour so she included a fantastic colouring book and some pencil crayons. I had just set up the table in the den so I could colour. I find it very soothing.

There was also a potholder and tea towel. It's in the lower left corner. The pot holder says Over the river and through the woods .... sounds like my place.

2 magnets in the box were great. 1 says Beware of the dog... the cat is not trustworthy either. The second has this really cute rear end of a pup that says in the end the only thing that really matters is how. How true!!!

Thank you Barb and Norm. Santa Warren was looking down with a big smile on his face as I took everything out.

I didn't mention the Lindor chocolates in the lovely tin basket. Perfect for recipe cards. I'm old school and still write my recipes out on cards.

Lovely gifts Dianne .. I have Barb moments daily and more as she gifted me with a small wooden banner that says 'BE KIND', it sits on the windowsill at my kitchen sink .. I always BAKE with her too with the red Betty Crocker utensils she gave me .. I also am sitting here and in front of me on the table as my Christmas centre piece is the lovely Frosty the Snowman wind up music box that LK sent me .. it plays, 'we wish you a Merry Christmas' and a wee train goes around his feet .. so many wonderful memories.

Betty .. so sorry to hear about the death .. what a wonderful love .. I pray Louis is able to come to terms with her passing .. I know Lorna's Mom is having a difficult time, she and Lorne were married 65+ years ..

Anyway, just wanted to check in, and say hello :-)

Betty I don't think sewing machines come under the heading of "need". I seem to have become a collector of late.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - so sorry to hear about your aunt's passing. I can tell she was a blessing to you & others. Great memories
I'm not surprised that just before Christmas there are so many passings - worst time of year, and most common. Hard for the families

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, almost bedtime lol

Was up early and matched the panels on mom’s cross stitch quilt then headed into town, had lots to do, shoppers are beyond belief, imagine traffic jams in Midland.

Got back around 1:00and Robert /Lorraine got here about 10minutes later for a visit..just left amd now I’m tired. Guess if I pushed myself I could muster up a little energy but not sure I want to.

Found a young man up the street who came and did front deck pathway and back pathway $20..he will come again, told him not to come when there is a skim of snow but any substantial amount I’d gladly pay him..said ok so I’m a happy camper..

Think I’ll take a nap

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you found that young man.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty, didn't see if you posted it, or if this is the same one where the # of flowers didn't match? How did you manage to get it sorted?

Went to a Community Christmas dinner, put on by a local church. Good Food, Good Company, and then the kids put on a skit. There were Christmas carols sung, and readings, then Santa & Mrs Claus came by. I got to sit on his knee, and the photographer is going to email me the picture :-) We had a lot of fun

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hope your young man proves reliable Betty. Maybe get his number so you can call when you need him to shovel.
Don't be pushing yourself, rest when you feel you need it.

Another company filled weekend, I'm tired but really being lazy today. Have to try tomorrow to make a dent in Christmas shopping. I'll start with the youngest ones first, then if I can't finish, the older ones will understand getting money.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, how did the house tour go?

Where is Betty today?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes - wonder if Betty was up for so long that she took extra naps today? I hope she's well, and resting.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well we haven't gotten an offer so guess there was no interest. Another on Tues. but not getting worked up about it. With a foot of snow, no one can even look at the property.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning almost afternoon everyone, snowing outside and bitter cold
Thank goodness I have a good old fashion stew on cooking.

Yesterday was beyond hectic, night before I couldn’t sleep, got up at 12:30am and went back to bed at 4:30,got up around 8:30feeling rushed. Then got a cal from godson Paul and asked if we could meet at his dads senior home at 1:00vs 3:00..there went a few more hours..all and all it worked out. Paul bought fish and chips, halibut, Best I ever tasted but my tummy didn’t like the grease and I paid for it all evening..had just climbed into bed when I heard a heavy rap at the door, by the time I got to the back door greg had the key ready to unlock and come in..he just said go to front door go to front door..here Kyle had a float all decorated with lights and about 22christmas carollers all holding handles..wonder to see and hear them..all wearing Christmas hats and holding Christmas song book..by the time I got to get my iPad for photo they were back at the float, sure didn’t want to say can you wait till out there..

Also got a call from Jeff, he was cooking along with 3of his employees breakfast this morning for 120of his employees, I believe after breakfast he was playing Santa to same group..so nice to see Christmas spirit alive and doing well, sharing love for fellow friends/family.

When I got home from visiting with uncle Allan Suzanne had fpdropped fleece off to make her sil a blanket, not that I’m not busy but she is busy with work and family and diwn with a cold so this morning I started to divide my time between doing her no sew blanket and more mug rugs..I had 12made for carollers I thought would be here this weekend’s d not the numbers who came a singing sooo I’ve 10 more ugly sweater matts to do and fill cups with goodies and paint signs lol

Haven’t played with New machine yet, need to organize Christmas then will do

Paul loved his quilt throw, Penny her rubber boot knitted covers and mug rug bag and uncle Allan as he can’t go anywhere or do anything his at home tv bingo cards, was glad I thought of something I could give him.

He is so frail, took a few breathing attacks while we were there..told me when I go to the funeral home tomorrow to tell Aunt Exilda to hurry up and get out of there as he is ready to take her spot..

Ohhh I got lovely gifts between BIL Robert and Lorraine visiting Saturday and yesterday..will have to get it out of the car so I can show you..forgot to bring it in..

Would you believe I got it all done today? I ordered about 80% of it online, to be delivered on Wed & Thurs. The rest we went out and finished up in about 2 hours.
I'm so relieved.
I won't get the usual treats made but glad to have the 17 younger kids covered. Our Christmas will be next Sat. downstate so I'll be busy wrapping.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a lot of carolers Betty, Glad you have the stuff to make more mug rugs for them.

Karen, that is a lot of grand kids to buy for!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you are so thoughtful to give the carollers something for Christmas. How lovely that they came on a float & all, to sing.
That wolf throw is beautiful. They look so solemn, as they hold it. Know that they love it though!!

I got a gingerbread house built last night, and decorated it today. There were extra candies, so Bob & I enjoyed them lol Made a Saskatoon pie, and some mincemeat tarts............ and so it begins lol

Karen, sorry to hear the clients haven’t made an offer, know you were so looking forward to it.kudos to you, this close to christmasidbe worried getting the online pressie’s but I’m sure with your quick delivery system it will arrive in record time.

All the cutting of kits that I laughed at thinking I’d have plenty to share, nada, used them all up and cut 2 more.

Lindakay, how is your family doing after the accident? Lord had angels walking with them for sure.

Barb how is the kitty coming along?

Deb, your family, am sure this is a rough time for your daughter, sending prayers for them

Wasn’t up to par yesterday so sat and did the no sew blanket Suzanne needed done, this morning ill fix binding of a milky blanket that let go for her and call say pick up time, all done! She will be thrilled.

Wellimbestget something in my tummy, nauseated and with girls coming this morning and visitation this afternoon and tonight I sure don’t need to be under the weather.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Family is doing OK, my Grandson Rory, 13, told my son, that after the accident , because no was moving right away, he thought everyone was dead, and he can't get that out of his head.

Verona, ON

Ah poor Rory.... that will stick with him for a long, long time.I hope they all got right back in a car as soon as they could. I was in a bad accident and didn't want to get back in a vehicle. Warren finally said 'Enough" if you don't get in the car I will carry you and put you in.

Deb thinking of you and your daughter. This will be a hard Christmas for your girl. Sending positive thoughts and prayers her way.

Now it is raining. I shoveled off of the front steps and it is a heavy snow. If it freezes tonight it will be like a skating rink everywhere. Waiting for the oil truck my tank says Empty. I know you can get 2 - 3 days out of it when it is that low but I worry about the infloor heating. When I called yesterday they said they would be in that afternoon. About an hour later the driver called and asked if I could wait until today. I said fine but you need to be here early. It's almost 9:30 and he still isn't here.

Oh Susan all your baking sounds wonderful.

BBL I hope. I am going to charge up my laptop just in case. Bathtub is already filled. This could be a no hydro day.

Everyone in the accident was taken to the hospital to get checked out. Thank God, no major injuries, just lots of deep tissue bruising. My son met them at the hospital, and took them home. He was at the shop doing a tattoo when he got the call about the accident.

Verona, ON

I just heard from Barb and she is on her way to the ER. She is having a severe intestinal problem. She wanted you all to know and of course she doesn't know when she will be able to post again.
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh no hugs for Barb.
Linda that accident was a terribly scary thing to go through, Everyone is so very lucky. Maybe Rory will need some help dealing with it.
I do have a bunch Linda and we only buy for the under 18s. They each make me a list and I choose from that. I usually make scramble and some other treats for the older ones but didn't manage it this year. I know they'll understand but it makes me unhappy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers for Barb.
