Yes, if you twist something in your knee, you can do permanent damage. Please be careful.
Liz, I agree, that is a beautiful quilt.

YUM! Thank you!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to be a high of 64 with sunshine..beautiful fall day..

"M" jus made coffee so the piece you kept for me will hit the spot..when are you travelling this way to see Lorna's mom? Imagine after this weekend?

Thank you Liz, mom did a great job cross stitching it, can't imagine the hours it took..hope it looks as good once it's washed and the quilting lines disappear, here is hoping.

I've about an hour of hand sewing and it's done and can go into a Christmas bad..won't be long $$$ store will have Christmas bags in.

Keep thinking I should go to town, pick up a few things but not sure what I'd pick up as I was a good girl and bought most of it last week..perhaps a turnip..found the last 2 I bought to be bitter even though I added butter, brown sugar and carrots..likely it's because they haven't had a frost, any ideas?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's 64 here now - lovely
Yum, that cake was delish, Marilyn! Thank you :-)
Yesterday I babied my knee, took enough meds & no more, and slept well last night.
Today PT went well enough, and afterwards my knee was tender but not painfully sore, and still a little still. However, it's not bad and I got back next Thurs am.

I'm ready to get back to sewing...... need to clear more stuff out and make things with it. I'm doing well actually - got 2 baby blankets done (with cloud soft soft soft wool) and that's helping clear room thank goodness.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What is going on with this site now? I don't like it al all!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, 61 with rain today, I'll be doing all Thanksgiving running around today as tomorrow is pie day.

Barb I haven't seen any changes to the site, what are you experiencing?
.
Am sure the recipients of your baby blankets will love them Susan.

One of the ladies that sews here Thursday night works at a doctor's office, yesterday he was at the hospital doing a colonoscopy and a nurse ran in saying there was an emerge, he wasn't happy but was soon to find out his mother was shot. His dad passed on about 8 years ago, she met up with a man, didn't marry him but common law, he shot her and himself, he is in Toronto fighting for his life but she wasn't so lucky. They lived in a well to do community in collingwood, bet they are all upset.

Guess I should get off this couch and get something done

"M", Susan and Dianne, what will the weather be in your communities this weekend and what plans do you have?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't notice anything either Barb.

Betty, that is so bad to get that kind of news!

It is supposed to be high 80's here this week end. Not too bad.

Verona, ON

Barb I didn't see anything either. How are you feeling ?

Betty my weather looks like rain, feels like rain It is quite gray out there. But it is still humid.

Did decide to stay home today rather than go into Ktown to get my passport pic. The TH and I decided to put our feet up. They each have a huge chewie to chew on.

I saw something on Animal Planet yesterday that had me laughing so many hard tears were falling down my cheeks. At a waste disposal plant/dam 10 baby ducks got in 1 area and couldn't get out. Momma duck was in a different area of water.. The workers emptied the area of water. Then the police and the plant workers had fishing nets trying to capture the babies. Well it was just like herding cats. They finally got all 10 and took them over to momma.

Susan you must feel free after having those staples out. Personally I prefer stitches to the staples.

Someone at the door - well the vehicle is about 30 yards from the house. No one gets to this house.lol
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Nothing out of the ordinary here either Barb.
GS stayed home today. I don't know what they are going to do but I'm just too ill right now to take care of baby. I've been telling them for weeks and been ignored. With Amelia at school and her working at Dr's office, I imagine all sorts of things being brought home to me. I know my immune system is crap. I'm just worn out slept most of yesterday and was sick to my stomach last night. I've only eaten a bit of oatmeal yesterday and nothing so far today. They just have to realize we can't do it any more.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe it's timeKaren you let them fend for themselves, any other couple wouldhave to find a sitter..know you so want to help but look at you, sick as a dog and worrying about them..time for you you you..hugs

Dianne our weather is much the same, feels as though it will start raining at any time, sure hope it waits until I'm back from town. I'm smiling at the thought of all that commotion withthe duckies..kind men trying to save them.

Lindakay, we will have mid 70's this weekend, hard to believe some years we've had flakes about this time, are you sewing?

Barb did you get instructions for this month on the quilt?

Ziggy is tired

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Barb .. I did find it more difficult to get ON to the forum/website, had to try twice for it to load.

Thanksgiving weather is to be fall like with sun .. made a pumplkin pie today, apple tomorrow.
Spent a couple of hours taking out flowers, hated to do it, but, if it freezes it is way too difficult to pull them ouy.

Hittin the shower

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Your weather is much like mine "M", so many in Walmart line ups and McDonald's were saying they were ready to pass out, all wearing heavy clothing but then it got warm out. What kind of flowers are you pulling out?

Is it because I'm getting older that prices seem much higher??? Bout a pair of jeans and with tax almost $70, that will teach me for cleaning out my drawers, think I gave them all away.

I'll be in pie business tomorrow as well, here is hoping I get up early and have them all done by noon..

Shaking my head, made a list of what I needed, where I had to go, timbrr mart was on my list so I would order wood for Christmas workshop and pick up a roll of heavy plastic to close in back deck and forgot so another trip to midland tomorrow

Spoke with Jeff, he is home in bed with a bad cold so he won't come up for thanksgiving and as his boys are away to university will make my family gathering so much smaller..😢

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Betty .. I took the trailing vines and geraniums out of the planters on 'THE BIKE' ... gosh it did well this year, hated to do it ..
As well, Lorna did 3 Impatiens beds, I got one out .. over the weekend we'll take the Canna Lilies out and store the bulbs at the cemetery in their cold room ..

The pumpkin pie is made, but Gord has requested cherry cheesecake instead of apple pie .. YAY .. 15 minutes to make that :-)

The price of clothing is astronomical !!

Karen and LK and Debbie, hope you're all feeling better .. oh .. Susan as well ..

Toodles

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mega work for sure..

Did you ever try to strawberry cheese cake jello desert for Gord? I'm addicted to them, so delicious..they come in pudding cups..Walmart has them in their cooler for $2

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Is the site loading for you alright now, Marilyn & Barb? I haven't had any problems. Had you cleared the cache and it needed to "remember" it again?
poor Jeff - hope he feels better soon
How's Lorna doing, M?

Bob's come in with something for me to do - take stems off of chokecherries he pulled off the trees. I thought, having a frost followed by a blizzard, they'd be spoiled, but he brought them in, and they're fine. Guess I'l have some jelly to make, eh?
Adriana brought some Saskatoons too & they're in the freezer waiting for pie or jelly to be made. Maybe jam? I love the jam :-)
Bob wants us to dress up in our Celtic gear to go out for our anniversary on Tues. I've lost about 10 lbs since I got out of the hospital, so I should fit into it better. He'll have to help me get dressed cuz I'm still not that mobile, but who knows, by Tuesday. I'm using the pedaller he got me, under my desk. Hurts for a bit, but sure is good to stretch those muscles. Will be better in the long run.
No thanksgiving here - no energy for something that much. Same with Pat & Glenn - he's going for a pacemaker on the 17th, and so not up to any more celebrating (besides his 75th which is ending up 2 week's worth & that's hard on him)
Knee - good days & bad. Last night no sleep, so cat napped 2x today. I'll be fine, but it'll take awhile.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb is it just this site or others as well? Might be time to clear out the cookies.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Karen. Time to have a firm talk with them.
I sewed for about an hour today. I thought I had enough yellow to do the binding on one of the kids quilts, and I am about 2 feet short. So I need to go with a different fabric. I get frustrated when things don't go well.
Betty, sorry to hear your family gathering won't have all the family there. Hope they are feeling better soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Raining with a high of 62 today, good baking day, going to have my coffee and get at it.

You gals are knowledgeable, haven't a clue about cookies or cache lol

Feeling better Karen?

lindakay when that happens to me rather than using 1 odd piece I cut up a few pieces of binding from fabric used in same quilt to make up binding..I rather like that better than same color binding..doing a piece right now that I will bind that way. Anxious to see your blanket.

Sounds susan that you will totally enjoy your Anniversary celebration, justhooe you won't be too uncomfortable from having to get into the kilt.

Well it's pie time

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I might do that. I have seen binding in multiple colors and it looks nice.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Some better today. Slept a day and a night and it helped.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - when you visit a website, your computer "holds" bits & pieces of it (home page pictures, links, etc), so it will load more quickly the next time you visit the page. If the page (DG) updates a lot, the bits & pieces have to update too. The old bits stay on your computer though. Eventually the page you visit may get "confused" sorting through which bits to load & which are outdated, so you need to "clean your cache/cookies". Some cookies are your password, so I personally never delete those cookies. If you use the same computer, you should never have to input your password - it normally automatically keeps it for the next time you visit the page.
Each browser has a different method of you to empty cache / cookies. For those on a PC/laptop, I can help you delete cookies/cache if you wish.
That being said, if you're on a phone Not a PC, you never have to worry about cache / cookies. They're automatically deleted by your provider.

Can you pick off the binding? Know it's mega work but then you would like it better lindakay.

Susan maybe when jeff comes up I'll talk to him about it, I sure don't want to go playing around on a computer, laptop and iPad lol..nice stash.

Karen glad you are feeling better, are the parents trying to find sitters for this week?

Got my pies donemthen went into town, spoke with timbrr mart re wood I need for project, they have to plane it to size, rip it and cut the board then I can dothe stars cut outs..got half way home and remembered I needed a boxed roll of plastic to close up back porch..had to turn around and go get it..grrr

Watching CNN re hurricane Nate, sure hope New Orleans and area isn't badly damaged as well as coastal area.hear theynhave closed a lot in Biloxi

I got asked by my Sister yesterday, to prepare an obit for our mom. She had a bad day on Thurs, and she's 98........ frail (70 lbs) and tired. She has no health issues, is as cheerful as she can be, sitting in a wheelchair all day with nothing to do (can't see). I don't know how much longer she'll last, but I'm sure 99yo in May in not in her future.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No Betty, I'm sure they aren't, that would require expending energy. Heard the baby crying for several minutes, finally knocked on door, no answer. peeked in GS is sound asleep and poor Lolli was just sobbing. Room also freezing as he runs the air constantly. I got her up & changed her & we sat out on the porch for a while. She loves to be outside, fortunately today was mild enough we could. Don't suppose we'll have many more days like this.

Worried about Amelia, they took her to ER tonight 102+ fever and pain. Waiting to hear what I will have next.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, although they say it will be overcast with a 68 with a feels like 75 this afternoon windisup amd sure feels like rain at any minute. Hope it improves as we are celebrating Thanksgiving at a trailer park..bit different but should be ok.

Karen, thatis when I'd have walked in, woke DGS to care for his daughter grrrr, he knows you will do it so why would he?? You have to look after you Karen, worried about you, hope Amelia's temperature is down, a worry for sure.

Susan sorry to hear your mom is unwell, at 98 she has had a wonderful life but can see her being tiredand ready to spend time with the Lord.its a priveledge for sure to be asked to write her obit..how about the eulogy, will yiu do that as well?
Nice stash Susan, bet you are anxious to be creative.what I would give forthat 1907 Davis..they sure put love in the cabinetry didn't they, a piece of art...wish I lived closer, I'd buy it.

Don't have anything to do till around 1 when I do ham and turnip, all else Mel and greg are doing so think I'll go play with the Halloween door panel on the frame.

Enjoy your day everyone

Betty we have the rain and the wind. There is 1 tree on the lake side of the house that looks iffy in the wind. Think I had better get someone in to do some cutting and trimming for me like yesterday.. BUT I will only hire a crew that has insurance.I will make the call n Mon.

Oh Karen you have me worried. You need to take care of yourself. I know you have a huge heart and love all of your 'peoples' (that's all your relatives where I come from) but they need to give back that love and care to you.

Susan it is so hard to see someone you love go downhill. My 2 grandfathers went suddenly but both grandmothers lingered on.Back in the 50's to put a relative in a 'home' was just unthinkable.

Betty you made YES pie !! Brought a big smile to my face.

Sitting here listening to Aaron Neville. How a man built like a stevedore (which he was for awhile) has a voice of an angel is beyond me.

Happy Thanksgiving M., Betty and Susan.

I would wish you all Happy Columbus Day but I don't think it is a stat holiday for you.

Stay safe and well everyone.

Susan, I agree, you got some nice fabric, and I too would love to have a machine like that.
Never east writing an obit for someone, either before or after they pass.

Karen. I agree with Betty, it is time to make them be responsible for their own kids. They may live with you, but they have kids now, and sleeping while the baby is crying is not good. Praying that what ever Amelia has, is not contagious.
Dianne, please be careful with that tree.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends.
Columbus day is a national holiday, but we do not celebrate it. I think hubby has they day off because he is a civil service worker.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Thanksgiving, Marilynne, Dianne & Betty
Happy Columbus Day to all my US friends.

As for a eulogy - in our family, several people go up one at a time, and speak a little bit, so no one is left having to do a major speech. It not only eases the burden, but it also is more companionable in sharing grief. I've seen it where a group goes up and speaks individually.
Not going to church today - there's a windy front coming in - had sleet this morning, then sun/blue sky, then darkening up again. Looks "iffy" to go walking

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

They ended up taking Amelia to ER as her temp went to 102.2. 10 hours later, decided it's a virus.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Prayers for Amelia - now that they know it's a virus, they can tackle it. That's a mighty high temp for a little one. Hope this is quickly cured.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Are you all sleeping in?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, dull day, looks like rain..

Happy Columbus Day and Thanksgiving day to all..

Drats I'm back to not sleeping half the night, what is what that, was doing so good as of late, big sigh.

How is Amelia tidayKaren?

Any uodates on your mom Susan?

Had a great day yesterday, filled with a lot going ons..

Have to say it was digpfferent with Jeff not here for Thanksgiving dinner but he had has been in bed since Wednesday, then his boys away at University. Noah had gone to Meaford to spend time with Jan seeing this is her first thanksgiving without Charlie so many were missing in the campground. Weather was great though..

I left early evening, decided to drop in and see uncle Allan as he would have no company this weekend, he was very pleased, then I did a tour of the cemetery in Penetanguishene and chatted with family, remembering Thanksgivings of old then it was off to rogers Aunt Bkamche's 90th birthday celebration, sooo a full day.

This morning I decided I have cleaning to do..did load of washing, cleaned my stove, quilted 1/2 hr on the Halloween piece, will get dressed and thinking if I've enough energy to clean out the refrigerator, Lordy I hate that job..shaking my head but there is nobody else that will do it.ther than that it's a quiet Thanksgiving Day.

Sorry you are not sleeping well Betty.
Love the family photos. Did you have enough pies?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, have 3 here to eat, sure hope the girls come tomorrow..was a good girl, got my fridge cleaned soamhappy with my day.

Verona, ON

Betty I cleaned my fridge as well. Good to have it checked off on my list of things to do.

LK don't worry about me around the chainsaw. I have been using and been around them for years. We have heated the house for at least 30 years with wood. I have the utmost respect for them. I take my cell out with me just in case.

Karen how is Amelia ?

The turkey breast I cooked this morning is very good and not dry at all. I carved a piece off of it to taste. Didn't make my mom's stuffing though. I managed to get the turkey in the oven with just a few tears. I wasn't sure I could do it.

Rain has stopped so will venture out with the TH
D

Victoria Harbour, ON

In same mind then Dianne..impretty good at cleaning around the house but i don't know why I always put off the fridge..omg it was dirty, glad I got it done but it plum tired me out. Lol

How are you doing with your wood..do I remember you saying that when you did the renovations you made room for an area to hold wood out of snows reach?

Hugs re turkey, some memories still hurt after many years.

Our Foodtown is open today, didn't think it would be so I managed to get milk/eggs and while I was at it picked up cabbage rolls they make in their hot section, not hungry now so for supper but if I'm still not hungry they will be tomorrow's lunch..should get ambitious and make my own.

Was thinking of having a hot bath, something for the old bones then see if I can go downstairs and quilt a bit more

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Amelia is right as rain. Thank goodness little ones get better as quickly as they get sick.
