Barb, great news about the bed and good. Luck in picking the chair..sounds as though you are well organized for your crafting area..when you can, would live to see the kitty in progress.
Karen, that young lady needs a good talking to, sounds as though she thinks kids are inconvenient..shaking my head. Like you can't see ahospital/urgent care telling such things re a sick child.
Pat's sister Sue passed away yesterday,,sad to hear but then not as she was living in such pain.
Debbie is on her way, she and Paul left at 9am, stopping for coffe and headed in my dopirection.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends new and old..come join in..
I'm sure you will have a good visit with Debbie, Betty. Sounds like fun.
All is OK here. Hayley is holding her own, so far. Struggling to get her to eat sometimes, but she is still active, alert, and runs around the yard. Just wish she wasn't all skin and bones. Started on a turmeric paste yesterday that my vet gave me a recipe for. It's supposed to have anti-cancer properties. She hates the taste, and my hands are stained yellow from the turmeric, but if it helps, I'll get it down her!
Karen, can't imagine letting a poor baby cry in pain. My son had a lot of ear infections when he was a baby. We were well known at the local emergency because we were there so often.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Deb
So sorry to hear of Sue passing. Sending prayers.
Enjoy your visit with them Betty. Take pictures please?
Sorry to hear this weather does not agree with your aches and pains. My joints hurt too!
I am feeling much better today. Yesterday I was just feeling blah, Todd said probably from the morphine. It sure kicked my butt. Nothing tasted good yesterday, not even chocolate.
Poor Haley Den, can't be very tasty..yuk..you will have to start wearing those plastic gloves or say you are getting ready for Halloween lol
Glad to hear you are feeling better lindakay..mom said she was given morphine and all food had a vile taste to it. Smiling, woke up about 3:00 after having taken pain meds at 9:00 to take another, hadbrought a pop and set in onnight table, when I took the first pill I thought it tasted terrible, 2nd one I thought omg this pop tastes terrible, realized it was a diet ginger ale lol
Think I'll go do a bit on sharons quilt while I wait for company
Here's hoping the Weather Liars are wrong and you get good weather Betty for Debbie's and Paul's visit. Ah The Bala Cranberry Festival - good times. It sort of gave an indication of how sales would be at One of a Kind.
Deb you went to a holistic vet for Haley didn't you ? I have a friend whose Rottie could be Diesel's twin. He weighed 160 lb 3mon ago and now is 116 lb. Vet said cancer keep him happy. I just wondered if a holistic vet might have more options on how to keep him happy and out of pain.
Barb I am so glad the bed is helping you sleep better. The chair sounds like it would be ideal for you.Does Norm know you are working on the cat for him ? I know he didn't but wondered if he was still going to be surprised.
OK I have all the things out on the counter to make turkey chowder and realized I don't have a big soup pot anymore. Don't want to go out till the morning so will just prep everything so it is ready to go.
The TH are sleepy... could be that barking their heads off at 4:10 am and waking me up completely could have something to do with that. I can't lay in bed when I wake up no matter what time it is - always something to do.
My Amazon parcel of books arrived a bit ago so think I might start the true story of twins being switched at birth. Something like that always interests me as my mother always said she brought the wrong kid home from the hospital. I guess she made quite a fuss when they told her I was girl not a boy. Yep sure made me feel 'special'.
Dianne and her TH
Sorry to bore everyone else with dog/cancer talk.
Dianne, I hadn't been to a holistic vet until my pup Charlotte had part of her tail amputated this summer, and when it hadn't healed after the surgery, I was told, 50/50 chance it will heal, if it does, good, if it doesn't we'll have to amputate more. And I was sent on my way. A friend of mine had recommended a holistic vet, and she changed Charlotte's diet, put her on supplements and made a topical to put on her tail, and it did heal. I loved her way with animals, and the general atmosphere of the clinic. When I was given Hayley's prognosis, and was told she had maybe 2 weeks left, first thing I did was make an appt with the holistic vet, and had Hayley's records sent there. She never mentioned "how much time left", she did an accupuncture treatment which is supposed to boost immune system. And, she started her on supplements: Mushroom Kings, a complex of mushrooms which is supposed to boost immune system, and has anti-cancer properties, OncoPlex which is heart health and immune system, (these are both available online, for people, Hayley gets 2 Mushroom Kings and 1 OncoPlex a day, she's 50#). She's also on a cannabis oil, and another mixture of Essiance, Hoxley, Amino B which is supposed to support immune system also. And, we just started on the Turmeric paste, if you google Golden Paste, you should find the recipe, which is supposed to treat and prevent cancer. I love my holistic vet! If your friend has a holistic vet in the area, I would definitely make an appointment. It's so hard to watch them decline. Hayley's cancer has spread to her lungs, which is why surgery is out for her. It's been a week and a half since she was given the 2 week prognosis, and so far, she's no worse than she was then. She's getting spoiled rotten, because I'm now cooking for her every day, and she is on an appetite stimulant, but she still goes out and runs around, barks out the window if anyone walks down the sidewalk. So quality of life is still there. I wish your friend luck with her boy.
Deb
Don't your dare think we would be bored hearing about Haley, know how overwhelming it is having a furry sick..sure hope somehow the diagnosis could be wrong.
Went to Midland, gotmy box of cut wood for our Christmas workshop, we did Canadian tire and then Chinese..finished up so debbie could take photo's of the sunset.
I'll put a roast in crock pot tomorrow using Joyce's recipe so we have eats after a long day in Bala. Dianne you also did Bala craft show?
Bones are killing me, time for meds..

I agree Deb - it's not boring to hear about something that is important to you. Nice to hear of holistic vets who work with a pet & their human.
Betty - we're having a slow cooker roast tomorrow, too! Going for our usual though - sear all sides, then cover with tea, and cook for 4 hours. Last hour, add carrot & potato chunks & onion chunks. Take out the roast & veggies, leave to warm in the oven, and make gravy with the liquid in the slow cooker, cornstarch & water & salt/pepper. Delicious gravy! The searing in the slow cooker first, with the tea, adds a real dimension to the gravy.
edited to add "onion chunks"

Sounds yummy Susan.
Cool and rainy here, I've got so much I need to do and no ambition at all. The whole house just feels damp and icky. Dogs are all wet and muddy. I know we needed rain, but two days straight are more than enough. There are flash flood warnings for the town, but I don't live anywhere near the river, so it doesn't effect me. Managed to get a load of laundry done, but that's going to be about it for the day.
Hope you all are having a better weekend!
Just got in, rain held off and turned out to be a gorgeous day..
Thousands and thousands were at the Bala Cranberry festival, not enough people there though that I didn't run into lots I knew lol
Went to Cranberry Marsh to show Paul the set up, bus after bus came in, of course the guides showing you were to park were men I knew from MacTier region so we didn't have to park far.
Bought a jar of Cranberry horseradish, we will try it with roast beef tonight.
Cranberry soap and Cranberry cheese so lot of things with cranberries lol
Aching like crazy, just took pain killer, think debbie and Paul are done in as well..will hold off dinner until debbie and Paul go take photo's of tonight's sunset if there is one due to clouds.
We too Deb have heavy rains/winds forecasted for tonight and tomorrow, say likely power outages, hope not.
Enjoy your evening
tsk tsk tsk........ my memory - how could I forget the onion chunks in the pot roast?
Betty - hope you get over this aching. Take it easy (lookit the pot calling the kettle black - oh wait, I AM taking it easy lol), please
Afternoon all,
Dull dreary day, storms a brewing..
Debbie and Paul just left for home, hope they make it before the heavy rains, had a great visit!
We make a quick run into Walmart so paul could puck up voltaren which you can't get stateside and I bought a new tassimo coffee maker, should have known it was too big, went back and returned just after debbie left.
I've much I could do but I'm on the couch, need a good kick to get me off lol. Will start with washing bedding, that ought to get me going, can't waste a Sunday afternoon!
Spent the afternoon watching football and working on the Cat. It's coming along. I'll try for a photo in the morning. Doesn't take well at night.
Back home, had a wonderful week-end. Wedding and reception were spectacular. All the kids kept saying how much fun they had when the cousins get together. Jillian asked for all the married couples to come on the dance floor. As we danced the DJ had couples sit as he called how many years they had been married. Well guess who was the last couple dancing?? I was given a lovely bouquet. The whole place erupted in cheers, of course so many were my family the deck was a bit stacked.

so tired, and it's only 7:30. I'm almost done the 2nd of 3 balls of yarn for the charity baby blanket I'm making - it'll be 5 ft long. Seems to take forever..............
Beautiful photo Karen. Where was the wedding?
Betty, I hope you had a good week end with Debbie and Paul.
Susan, you have been busy.
Wedding was down state. The daughter of my cousin. My cousin was like another daughter to use, we took her on our dates. Our family is pretty close knit anyhow and love to get together. We do have fun.
Good afternoon,
Been on the run since we got home.
We both had a grand time with Betty, and really enjoyed everything. Like Betty, neither of us is moving very well. We both took pain meds and went to bed early.
We did pick up Sammy from kennel. Oh that poor dog. He was somewhat looking shell shocked, came out on leash with young man looking like...where am I going now! They said he didn't relive himself much ....didn't eat anything either.
We made it out the door.....and he immediately had to go! Got home and the poor boy just let go of everything. Came inside and more mess! I felt so bad for him.
He is clinging like anything today but sleeping by whoever is sitting down.
We had a great time in Bala, we did over 8500 steps Betty! My daily goal, which I never make...is 5000. No wonder our legs and hips were screaming.
Betty made a wonderful breakfast and then the famous roast with potatoes and cooked carrots. Was great! AND apple pie! What a wonderful day for sure.
The ride home was VERY windy. Came home to find the power had gone out, and news said all up and down the county people were without power. Ours wasn't out long, just enough to set everything blinking I think.
We had a dumpster delivered this morning for all the mess from room demolishing. DH is in glory throwing everything way not nailed down I think! He is finishing doing the "joint mud" in the 1st room. THEN will start the 2nd.
Betty it is only 46 here this morning! Miss you and Ziggy!!! Thanks again for everything.
Barb, we just got my FIL one of those chairs....it has helped him a lot. He needs scooter too, but no room in house to utilize it....and he only goes out 1x a week maybe and says can use his walker.
OK, I need lunch and get warmed up!
Hugs
Debbie
Poor Sammy. I know he was glad to have you back home.
Our dogs do the same when we go to the beach in the summer.
Glad to hear you had a good time at Betty's place. Some day I am going to have to go up there.
Evening all,
Was a dull dark day,, fought laying on the couch, glad I did, feel better for it.
Been a busy busy day here, did some housework and promised I wouldn't come upstairs till Sharon's quilt was off the frame and managed to do so.
It was great having you and Paul here for the weekend Debbie, yep my body knows I overdid it, started to go downstairs and said 'self, use the acorn chair lift' so it got some use today. Sorry to hear the vet experience wasn't a good one, no fun cleaning such a mess. Great they delivered the bin this morning as promised, did Paul work on the house regardless of his bad hand/arm?
Karen, what a beautiful photo, glad you got the flowers, likely they knew who the recipients would be lol. Wouldn't it be nice if dgs got the job and yougot the house toyourselves again?? Glad you got some sewingin.
You are going full speed ahead on your knitting projects Susan, don't go so fast as you won't have anything to do lol
Lindakay, you are always welcome..feeling better?
Feeling much better, thanks.
Meds are working then, that is good news..
Not sure the girls are coming tomorrow, Pat's sister is being buried tomorrow, not sure if others will come, kind of hoping not
Think it's bedtime...
Morning all,
curb side garbage needed to go out, needed tags so off I went to the variety store, Lordy its cold out there..a feel like 37 and I think it felt colder than that..time to wear a jacket come early mornings brrrr
Time to have my 2nd coffee and toast, by then 9am will be here, crossing fingers girls don't come today, that being said if they do come I'll enjoy their visit.
Jeff hasn't been 100 percent last 2 weeks, chest cold and I'm concerned about the not closing knack deck for winter, I could do it but big sigh, don't feel like it. Jeff says he will try for this weekend, I'm thinking I'll try calling the guys who worked her doing my rooms and just maybe I can pay them for a few hours of work..just don't want to be doing it in a snow storm and it's a coming.
Have to call Darlene, not sure if she left for Fort Myers yet, best I check my voice mail and texts
Sorry to hear Jeff is not feeling well. These darn cold sure hit hard lately. I hope you can find some help to get the deck done.
Girls did come and Ann dropped in so nice visit.
Yard maintenance is here doing a sweep of leaves, said the leaves weren't falling off trees as quickly as he would like, darn I think they are falling too quickly lol
Yes Jeff said they are really holding on.
Called donny but number said it's disconnected, Ann is going for darts at the legion tonight so she will see if she can find new number for me...she thinks he is working on newly construction of a home down the road from her therefore it's doubtful he could fit me in..something I can do, will wait until Friday to see on Jeff's schedule
Betty, yes Paul did some work yesterday. He put 2nd coat of mud on the walls in the back room. Mowed the lawn and put all bags from front porch into large dumpster they bough....but he quit early and rested. This morning he is already demolishing the 2nd room. He took lunch break and is back at it.
Cold here, we had a frost last night.
Debbie - glad you had a great time with Betty. I'm not surprised at that. Beautiful pics!
Betty - that's a great pic of you, but you look so solemn!
There's NO way I'd run out of things to do lol I'm not going to do the full 5' of baby blanket - that's way to long. More like an adult shawl! I'll do 40" and stop, not 60" lol Only have 2" to go & I'll do that at Craft time today.
I'm thankful Bob is home, safe & sound Lovey dubby
Yesterday, he went to the City to pick up a floor machine for his new job @ the Arena (thankful he has the janitorial job! More income for us!). On the way through the City, he got rear ended in a 3 car accident. He was the one in front, so no fault (thankful!). He bumped his head on the roof though. No broken bones (thankful).
After doing errands, he called me (1:50pm) and I thought he was heading straight home. Three hours later, he wasn't home (1 hour from home!) and although I called, called and called, no answer on his cell. I called the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) because we live rurally. They said they would "ping" his phone. I was frantic & in tears. It's not like him to go missing....... and with a recent car accident & hitting his head, I didn't know What to think.
Turns out, he forgot his phone on the car seat & went grocery shopping, and other shopping. He Finally phoned me @ 5pm & got home @ 5:25pm. I hugged him & couldn't let go - I was SO worried. I called the RCMP of course, to cancel the search, but oh boy.......... between scolding him and hugging him...... He finally got the idea of how worried I was.
If the same thing had happened the other way around........
We only have one car, and until I can get medically cleared to drive (knee surgery - has to be 6 weeks past, and only 4 weeks have gone by) I couldn't drive anyway. This is what happens when I let him out of my sight!!!
Oh Susan. That must have been so scary to go through that. Glad to hear he is ok.
I was driving about 4 weeks after my knee surgery.
Yikes, can't stop sneezing..
Susan I'm amazed the rcmp were willing to look into bob gone missing in just a few hours of being away..glad all turned out. Much damage to the vehicle? Glad bob wasn't injured...
just a small scrape on the back fender, which pushed it forward just a bit.
With Bob being a senior (he's only 67 but that counts) and just having hit his head, yeah, they look. For under age, and seniors they will, just not anyone in between lol I wouldn't qualify @ 63.
Morning all,
Beautiful sunshine day out there, high of 61 but I'll take it...
Linda just called all upset, called her insurance to see if she is covered stateside on nov17, because she opted to go to a special heart physio class its considered as changes to her file and cannot go for 3 months...she is going to try alternate insurance but it's doubtful.
The ipgirls were talking about an ad re electronic beds for sale, called the number, she called me back and said it was 2 twins but she and husband put a king size mattress on it and only 3 months old, can't possibly work trying to get 2 beds/one mattress working in unison and besides my room is a tad small for a king, wanted $2,500....will start shopping and see what is out there, look for deals...sure think it would help me sleep better, loved the ones I had at the farm???
Good news susanthat he wasn't injured.
Greg brought me one of his camping chairs, sat in it with knife in his pocket, high end so doesn't want to replace it..thought maybe I could so but nope doesn't come apart and can't get the metal tubbing under the sewing machine foot..tried iron on patches, won't adhere to rubber covering the fabric so decided to try e3000 glue, hope that works.
Off to wash a few windows
What happens if you go state side without insurance?
Sure hope you can fix that chair.
There is a product called Gorilla tape, it's supposed to be super strong. Maybe it would work on the chair.
If she had problems while there with her heart she wouldn't be covered, likely lose her house to pay usa medical bills.
I have gorilla glue for wood, did look for tape but haven't seen it anywhere
Hoping what I did helps
Please pray for my daughter Michelle - she has more on her plate than any young woman should...... more health issues for her, and more anguish re: her dad's health issues & decisions
Sending prayers for her.
Thank you, Linda Kay - appreciate it
What a gorgeous day out there, went on back deckamd looked around, guess the landscaper while vacuuming leaves yesterdayhadhis cutting blades on, wondered why it look so clean after he left yesterday lol..
Sending prayers for your daughter Susan, difficult times for her.
So quiet outside amdinside this morning, not a sound to be heard.
Think I will go downstairs after my coffee and see what I can get out of the finishing pile to quilt, pile is getting lower.
Need greg to drop inand get mybig scroll saw out of back roomandset on work tables so I can do some cutting on workshop projects, have to give him a call..
What are you all up to?
Coffee time
Love the colours..Already finished, Lordy you did move quickly.
Looks as though you are enjoying you Wednesday group..nice for you.
Suzanne dropped in this morning just as I was heading downstairs so behind as usual.
