Hurrah hurrah "M" so very pleased you kept your membership, know we are always here for you. Not in pain are you? What is the next step in your tests?

Sure hope Karen this machine is all you wanted it to be.

I quilted and did binding on a Christmas table topper and am doing the 2nd one that is the same today..getting down to bottom of my pile.

Talking to mom, said she is feeling better, walking good, was at the doctors this morning for her iron pill so said she will wait til early morning and decide if she is well enough to go...

Verona, ON

Love ya back M

Oh Karen I am very excited for you. What will you make first on it ?

Duke just went off on Diesel for no apparent reason. Diesel ran right in and jumped up on the bed so he is beside me. I am sitting in the recliner by the bed. I haven't checked Dies out yet but he can't he hurting too bad if he is up on the bed. Even though Duke has been with me for 4 years now he still has moments when he just goes crazy and not in a nice way. It's like a light bulb goes off in his brain and then after a bit the bulb goes out and he realizes what he has done. Then he rushes in and tries to get up on my lap.or wraps his front legs around my leg..

Didn't follow through with my original plan for the morning but I did get the rest of the weeds cut down to the lake plus I cut the back 40 as Warren used to call it.I really need a goat. I was able to get a path cleared to 1 of the sheds and down to the lake at the south end of our property.I see the beaver has been busy down there. We really need a trapper to come in and get some of them. When we owned the whole farm we used to get Ralph in every couple of years to trap and that was a big help.

Now I am getting ready to have a shower after I cool down. Although I should go out and finish 1 area I didn't do. I have let my shade garden go so cut it right down this morning. The critters thought it was their personal buffet.

On Sat I plan to get a couple of mum plants and take them to the Vietnam Memorial we have near here. It is waaay back off the beaten track as the guys wanted it to be. I started last year going a couple of times each year and planting some flowers. I understand the day lilies I planted last year are doing well.

Another stellar day here.. I'll take it.
Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hooray, ~M~ !!! I know we're connected slightly on FB, but I would Really miss you here more. There's more that can be said here than the more public FB.

SO glad that Norm's getting interviews & that SS has kicked in!!

Betty - Bob hasn't heard any more about the job at the Arena so I tend to think they've re-thought the idea & aren't considering him.
Sorry to hear your mom's been ill - hope she recovers well.
Glad to hear Inuk is holding his own. Prayers for him, and Sharon

Karen - wooo hooooo you have some pretty awesome kids. A new toy to play with!! Sure you're waiting on pins & needles (sic lol)

Dianne - those "puppies" of yours lol The TH sure Thunder on each other, eh? Hope they're doing well together now, again.

LK - smart idea on the lift for her car! It's not something I would have thought of, for sure! btw - loved your FB "getting to know each other" list. It was nice to see Thunder on there too. It's been quite awhile since I'd heard anything from her, and happy to hear she's safe in FL

My surgery is on Monday, and I'll find out on Friday what time it is, and when I'm supposed to be in. My L knee isn't totally healed, but by next summer I'm sure both will be much better
This recovery should be a lot easier this time, too - our home is "do-able" and I'll be able to get around, and the stairs & deck are built so that's safer too. Also, we've made more friends that will visit and I'll have visitors. Having the library to occupy my time is good as well. The ladies have promised to contact me by phone if they have questions. Not that I think they won't do a stellar job on it, but they seem to think they need my help. I tried to make it so easy for them to continue on without my help. Una is getting the mailed books transferred to my name here in Torrington so when new library books come in, I'll be able to pick them up here rather than wait for her to bring them a week later from her community.
It's all coming together.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, bet that it's a glorious site looking out at the lake. When all of your landscaping is done. Duke just wants to show Diesel he is king of the house, needs being reminded from time to time, Diesel must be feeling better to be able to jump on up on the bed.

Hope Susan all goes well, with surgery, we will want to hear how you are doing as soon as you can post. Hope Bob is still on the list for the job and they are waiting to hear till colder weather comes.

Sharon called to say she went. Back to vets, vet thinks they misdiagnosed Inuk, today as his foot was enlarged the took X-ray, shaved his foot and feel he was bitten by a spider so that is good news

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh that IS good news, Betty - means it's treatable, and nothing that is long lasting/permanent!!

As for colder weather - that's not the issue. They start the job in Sept, and the beginning of Sept is gone, and their Sept meeting was the 2nd Tues.

I'll be taking my cell phone & laptop this time. Last time I didn't, because they said on the paperwork that you weren't to, but since then the hospital said it was fine. I'll bring my e-reader as well (Thank you Gregg, for all the books on it!! I've added more, but really like James Peterson's books!)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good luck with your surgery Susan. I had my right knee replaced back in 2006, and it has never been 100% since . Dr. told me it would never be 100%. I still have to be careful squatting, or turning quickly. Something I have just learned to live with.

"M", so glad to see you are sticking with us. Sending prayers for a good Dr. report.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Linda Kay - I'd be happy with 70% at this point, for my L knee. There are some muscles that I'm sure are shortened and very painful when I move (ie: stretch) them. I'm using the recumbent exercise bike to help.

Verona, ON

Me too LK. My right knee has never really gone back to what I used to be able to do before the surgeries. Kneeling is a bear for me too.

Susan you have the right headset for your L knee. Do you come home with walker/crutches ? Using your bike is an excellent way to exercise for you. I have a stationary bike that I love using.

Poor Inuk and poor Sharon ! Spider bites can really do a number on you. This time of year we get several especially on the bedroom ceiling. Some are huge with their body the size of my thumbnail.. I quickly dispatch them. Warren was quite allergic to spider bites and would get me to kill one when he spotted it.

Need to get my tools gathered and cleaned up. Plus I have 3 50 ft extension cords and it doesn't matter what I do they get all tangled up.I have to admit some blue words come out of my mouth as I untangle them.

What's everybody having for dinner ?
Dianne

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Pork chops with stuffing, fresh green beans and applesauce!!!!! It was delicious.

In case I get caught up in a book or something, good luck on Monday Susan. I'll say a prayer for an easy surgery and a quick recovery.

Got the first instructions done for the mystery quilt. Had to make 72 half/square blocks, Now I wait until the first Thursday of Oct for the next step.

Have a utility quilt that needs borders. May ask Norm to cut for me. Then I shall start the process of deciding what I want to keep for sewing and what I am going to give away or donate. Got a couple containers in today to start emptying out my cutting table. It is going out to the kitchen for more storage there. Then I start on all the rest - fabric, batting, notions, patterns. Fun fun......

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh YAY "M"!!!!!. We'd miss you so very much if you didn't come here.
My machine is coming tomorrow, I'm being optimistic and hoping it will run just fine. I do realize the seller is not a machine mechanic and maybe not eve familiar with Berninas but she did say it ran. I'm expecting at the very least I will need to do a cleaning and oiling. My plan is for it to be my traveling machine and also to use when my main baby needs service. It could use a bit of service now but just thinking of not having a machine to sew on is just too stressful. Hoping I can take it in next week.

Poor Inuk sure hoping the spider bite is going to heal completely. Sharon has to be worrying half to death.

No plans for me for dinner, just feeling too yukky with this cold. Everyone else is on their own.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Went to Walmart so picked up chicken burger with mozzarella cheese on it, sure was tasty.

No fun Karen having a summer cold. Tomorrow's your day, am sure it will be perfect and run like a charm.

Lordy Barb you sure went at it to get all your blocks done so quickly, long time to wait for step 2. What is a utility quilt??

Susan glad you can bring computer with you so you can let us know how you are doing. Sorry bob didn't get the job, know you were looking forward to extra $$$

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I spend HOURs advocating for my client, the family SAID they wanted the extra help that Hospice or Palliative care could provide, but when she called, told our nurse they didn't want her to come out!!! Family practically begged me to get them a nurse to come out because the client/ mother is too difficult to transport anywhere, too weak.
ARGGgggggg!! LOL I should learn to not work so darn hard and give THEM more ownership. Guess if they want something THEY can work for it!
Hospice/Palliative care would have hooked them up with all the Durable Medical equipment they needed, provided a RN with prescription writing ability and a 100 other benefits.... oh well. Another one of those times ya just gotta laugh and say no good deed goes unpunished!

Really good news for Inuk.
Marilynn, glad to hear you decided to stay.
Karen, sounds like your kids are sneaky & resourceful to get the REAL reason for their questions to get YOU what you wanted!! How sweet!

I've never done a mystery quilt Barb. Sounds like fun.

Betty, was your aqua green/blues one a mystery quilt? I know you have lots and lots of prep work before you started the "blocks".

Ben cut up some beef that was already cooked and added veggies & canned mushroom soup, box of beef broth & made a yummy stew. Cooler weather means soups and stews, toasted cheese sandwich, YUM! I can make manicotti & lasagna again and not worry about heating up the house. the extra heat in the kitchen will be welcome!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Barb - appreciate all the prayers.
When I consider all the health issues of people here, and those of my neighbours, mine seems so trivial. Our friends Pat & Glenn for instance - he has a Dr in old neighbourhood, and a follow-up one nearer to home, and they're not agreeing on the reading from his heart monitor. Finally they got together & know he needs a pacemaker. In the meantime he's getting weaker & his heart's stopping at times, and racing at other times. I know he's stressing and that makes everything worse of course. My issue is not life threatening - scary, yes, and painful, but with prayers & the Lord's help both Glenn & I will get through all of this.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Susan .. all the best on Monday, thoughts and prayers coming your way.

Pat .. advocating and them getting 'shot down' really is disappointing, like you say, leave it and move on.

No results as of yet re my cardiogram .. suits me :-)

Did it come Karen ? Did it come ?

Betty is stateside. Talking with Debbie she met up with Betty, Sharon and mom to give a parcel to Betty that was shipped to Deb's.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That means her Mom is feeling better? Have a safe trip Betty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Did someone ask if I would be coming home with a walker and/or crutches? I have both. Need the crutches to get up & down stairs.
My surgery is Monday @ 12:25 and I'm to be at the hospital @ 9am. One hour drive siiiiiiigh Ah well, time is coming soon now!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, shopped all day, couldn't keep up to mom, honest..

We ordered pizza so soon time for pj's

I felt so bad, Debbie came out to meet us, an hours drive and she wasn't well enough that we could go out for lunch..so kind of her to bring me my parcel feeling badly. Hugs Debbie

We will finish another shopping stop at joanns tomorrow and then homeward bound.
Am hoping to get home before 4..we will see

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like fun Betty. I will sure be glad when my Sister gets home. My brother & sister are out of town so I am "it" to visit Dad and get him the things he asks for. He ALWAYS has a list!

Today I got him Tums on my morning break, took an extra 1/2 of "vacation time" so I could bring him lunch and visit with him. THAT way I could go straight home after work and not worry that he didn't have any visitors today. I have been going after work, it is NOT on the way home so DH & DS wait extra time before we can eat dinner together.

Betty, our Joanns has a coupon for all notions 60% off (they don't consider thread or buttons notions!). I know it's good thru at least tomorrow. There are several things I do need in what they DO call notions.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I came and purrs like a kitten. I'm so thrilled. Fun day today playing with it.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Karen, so happy your machine is all you hoped it would be :-)
Also, I think I must have complimented you on your profile pic, just lovely .. red is your colour ..

Susan, this time next week you will be home and DONE . .. a stretch I know, but, just another way to look at it.

Pat .. I sure hope you are giving YOU some time for yourself .. very stressful visiting infirm loved ones ..

Good luck with the shopping today Betty ..

Lorna has some blood work to be done at noon (blood clotting time) . so .. we''ll do a grocery shop following that ..

My tummy is unhappy about something .. maybe it's hungry, guess I'll feed it a banana.

Hi to everyone

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending hugs "M". And holding you all close. How is Lorna doing regarding the leg?
Have they gotten a decent doctor there yet?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,
Just getting ready for breakfast and one more pit stop at

Yep, I've taken advantage of 60 percent coupons lol
I budgeted $500 and I'm over..oh well

Karen so pleased about the machine, much lighter than normal one?

Pat, hugs your heart is in right place looking after everyone, sure hope some day soon someone will say let's do something for Pat

"m" off to have breakfast, your body is craving food..are you getting this sunshine and high temps? News on Lorna?

Debbie sure hope you are ok this morning..didn't sleep well, kept thinking I took advantage of you when you are ill..not good

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about Debbie not doing well.
Sounds like your Mom recovered quickly Betty, enjoy your trip.
Karen, so glad your machine works so well, I know you will enjoy it.
I present my quilt of valor tomorrow afternoon, I will post pictures when I get back.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Betty I am fine. Seems I had a little tummy issue brewing and felt it coming on.
Got home, had some ginger ale and slept for 3 hours. I think it is all tied in with the
pain meds not liking my stomach and I had to adjust lasix because of those also.

So enjoyed seeing you, Sharon and Mom. These ladies know how to shop!!!
Betty, I didn't even stop at the Christmas tree shop as planned.....got in the car, tummy flopped.....and I headed straight home.

Drive safe today!!!

Waving to all...
Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Take care Debbie. Sorry to hear your tummy was bothering you.

Verona, ON

Looking forward to seeing your photos LK.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - are you feeling better yet?

Marilyn - that's just how I am thinking about it - I'll be back home soon, and recouping. I have things I'm taking to do, in the hospital - book bags for the Library, and knitting baby blankets for Nimble Fingers (a charity for African babies).
I have more reading than I could do in a month at the hospital so I know I'll have my mind on other things than pain LOL

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Seems to me I didn't have any time in hospital after the hip surgery as they (PT) seemed to be visiting every hour to get me up .. and, after they left I prayed for deliverance lol
Just remember Susan, what you bring in with you, will have to be taken back out ..

Barb .. hugs right back. WHat can I say about Lorna, she is an absolute trooper .. the leg is still a piece of crapola .. being held on with a product called 'It Stays' .. movie stars use it to keep those low cut dresses stuck in place .. Kerry is simply making her life miserable .. I am still advocating for her with our Federal Lieberal govt.

Betty .. glad you enjoyed the shopping ..

Debbie ... hope the tummy is feeling better .

LK, good luck tomorrow ..

Netflix is calling

~M~

Betty, over the years I have been blessed by generous people. Almost 4 years ago a man & wife stopped in a truck, said they were "neighbors". They said they owned company and were going on vacation and had a crew of men getting paid to do nothing. Offered to send them to my house NO CHARGE and take out the rest of the landscaping mess I was dealing with! They came while I was work and completely cleared what I had been working on faithfully for WEEKS!!! Even hauled it all away, I didn't even pay the dump fee.
The following year our town has a volunteer day and the citizens pick several projects to do. Clear around city property etc. They also do a few private homes of those in need. We were asked if we wanted help! They came with small skidloader and cleared all the rest of the sod out of our front yard, trimmed down the arborvitae, and built a small wooden ramp from sidewalk to our cement driveway for Ben's wheelchair.
We've been PLENTY blessed by the kindness of others.

$500 budget and you EXCEEDED it??? HOLY S..., They must be rubbing their hands together when they see YOU coming!!! LOL I stopped there briefly, had my days coupons mixed up, the 60% off notions is coming week.

M, those PT staff people have to have hearts of gold to be able to do what they do. KNOWING the pain they are causing, but dedicated to helping us do what has to be done to get better. I could NOT do their job.

Karen, I am so happy to hear your "new" machine is a wonderful champ!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilyn - of course it has to come back, but it's small bits of material, and wool. 'Sides which, Bob says he will be there to carry stuff for me. What I can carry in, won't be do-able going home, obviously, and I know this.
Pat - I'm with you HOLY S... lol I couldn't think of spending that in a Year, let alone in one trip, but this is our Betty and we're all awed by what you do, Miss Betty!
You certainly have been blessed. We are too, here in our new community. There are so many good people in the world, but the bad ones get the press. The good outweigh the bad, I'm sure.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..
It's a wonder we didn't wash away last night, torrents of rain fell .. Gord will tell me how much when he reads the gauge outside.

Pat .. wow, generosity from people can sometimes be astounding .. the wee ramp (plywood board) now 8 years old that helps Lorna's walker/wchair is soon going to need replacing I so wish someone would build a proper ramp. Happily, the house is all on one level ..

With Xmas around the corner $500. would be a bit much for me .. I usually have a $200. budget when going stateside .. rises with room and meals of course.

Off to get gas for Lorna's truck today, and, I am cooking a prime rib roast with fresh garden veggies.
Likely stop at the cemetery and check my parents grave too.

Enjoy your day

~M~

Morning all,

Debbie, hoping today is a better day for you..is the swelling gone down any? You have to get better so you can do Meaford in a few weeks.paul said to thank you..he absolutely loves his new deep fryer combo..imagine he paid he said $204 us, they gave a distributor in Canada and it would have cost $685..a few of us wanted to pay for it as a gift but he wouldn't hear of it.

"m" never heard of that 'Stay' were you able to buy it locally? You have a full time job with advocating with federal government. Could you not take take Kerry to court?

Pat, great reading about all the blessing, must say I too have been blessed by random acts of kindness.

Susan you will be flitting here and there getting last minute things done today, you will be glad to see it behinds you.

Quiet out there, need to cut grass but need to wait until the neighbourhood comes alive, think I need gas so I ought to check and see if I do and make a trip to gas station so I'll be ready in the meantime I will try and figure the rug pattern, instructions are poor.

been looking outside, so many leaves are on the ground already, drats we know what is coming!

My grass awaits me too as does the leaf blower and weed whacker. Supposed to be in the 80's again today. I'll take it. The AC clicked on yesterday. Betty around here it is 7 am when you can 'legally' begin making outdoor noise here.

While the TH and I love their new enclosure the dust from them playing in it is terrible. I have to bleach the cover sheets I put on the bed and the furniture every few days. The original plan was to cover it up with something less 'dusty'. It's too late in the season now,The ground will soon freeze plus I don't want to have it down for just a few weeks have have the plow scrape it all away

Pat what an amazing giving community you live in. I am in awe. Around here even everyone yes yes but has their hand out for payment.

Karen did yo get any sleep or are you playing with your new toy ?

Sharon how are things in LV? Miss seeing you post. Hope all is well with you and Vern.

It's time off I go.

Same weather here Dianne, houses around me are working people, likely they want to sleep in on weekends so I wait, besides grass is so wet takes till late afternoon before I'm able to cut.

You have a big job washing all those covers several times a week, yep TH won't be out too much more with summer/fall ending..what will you put down? Missing a Sharon as well..do hope she and Vern are faring well.

Miss those who become friends then disappear!

I've got your dizzied this morning so took my blood pressure pill and on couch for a few minutes..likely my not sleeping much Friday night and all the shopping lol

Maybe I need something to eat, bought few jars of cranberry jamwhile away so maybe toast might help, only had 2ears of corn yesterday.

Have to tell you, mom said she wasn't hungry yesterday morning so we said we would go shopping then have early lunch before crossing boarder, we shopped, did what we had to do, passed ollies, mom loves buying books there, I asked not once but 3 topimes if she wanted to go in, we were right in front of ollies, no she felt she had enough books..so after shopping I asked sharon and her if they wanted to eat, mom said she would come with us but wasn't hungry, sharon said she wasn't hungry so decided to head home..I swear we were not 5 minutes over the border that she said how much she missed notgoing to bob Evans and that she bet ollies had books she could buy at 1/4 price she would pay here..big sigh, but other than that she was great.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My "new" machine is all I could wish for. It only weighs about 16 lbs., compared to my main machine at about 30lbs. We are down state now for a wedding shower. went over to son & daughters to give more thanks. He was so funny said but Mom, that is an old machine are you sure it's OK?, I finally said OK tell you what, you can buy me a new one then they are about $15,000. He said glad you like your nice machine mom.
