Not a wonder she cries susan but she has her life, gardens can be replaced..still watching devastation, not sure I heard right but 2 policeman were killed?? First responders...
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new..
yes, she has her life - that's a blessing, for sure. Gardens & "things" can always be replaced.
I hadn't heard about any deaths. I'll check into it.
Yes it was just confirmed susan, car accident
Glad to hear your friend is safe.
Thank you - my friend's daughter is the one who was in the path of the hurricane. My friend is an elderly (in her late 80's, I believe) member of my church.
Here's a CNN live news report on Irma:
http://www.cnn.com/specials/live-video-4
In some areas, the wind is dying down - thank goodness.
There are still some storm surges there however. I can't believe how some people who stayed are now out walking the streets, out of curiosity - surges are nothing to be "curious" about - they're deadly
I hope Inuk can make a full recovery for Sharon's sake.
Here is hoping, posted this morning but guess it flew away with Irma..sure hope all made it through the day and night of Irma terrorizing everyone.
Ordered the ruler Lindakay, out of stock but getting shipment in this week so gave my cc number and they will ship when they come in, likely next week.
Omg got to tell you, went to pizza restaurant on the other side of the bakery that I was told not to ever go back, he owns the building where restaurant is so i wondered if I got kicked out of it well so dropped inane asked, she said I'm always welcome and I wasn't the only one, apparently she got kicked out as well as a few of her employees..she said he was losing it, a few others on the street got kicked out as well..sooo don't feel as bad..he accused them of all he accused me..
WOW! That is not good for business at all. Someone needs to report them to the better business bureau.
Made me feel better knowing there are others and it wasn't just me..
I bet.
Good for you, Betty! Feels better that it's not just you, and that even employees were affected! Very nice that your "close to home" restaurant is available to you again! I still don't like that he snapped at you and accused you. Ah well, life moves on
Bob worked 3 hours for our neighbour - and got paid - hooray! He'll do the same on Wed & Friday
Well, off to town to do some shopping!
So Scary, I hope they caught it in time and Inuk makes a full recovery. He is one lucky dog to have her catch it and seek treatment so quickly.
Susan, some people, no matter what you tell them, they don't get it. Some, unfortunately, their curiosity will kill them.
I'm afraid to look at the ruler for fear I will HAVE TO HAVE IT!! Lol.
Oh come on Pat, be brave and check it out lol maybe I'll be telling you all it was a waste of $$$ but maybe I'll say it's the best sewing tool I have😉
Susan, the bakery I have problems with isrightnext door tome facing my street, the little mall also faces the main road and that is where the restaurant is so yes I'll be buying from them vs bakery.
No... no... I am WEAK and buy on impulse WAY too much. I will wait for YOUR review and count my pennies! LOL
Morning all, it's 54 right now but will have high of 72, perfect day..
Laughing Pat, watch video, its home base is in Alberta and I'm not sure they ship to USA, that being said you could always order, ship to me and I could post when in USA. Lol
Put garbage to roadside, realized I didn't have any tags for the extra bags of garbage from back shed so downtown I went, thankfully variety store opens at 7:30...
Girls are coming this morning, I even made muffins, hurrah for me, used to do it all the time then got lazy.
Heard about this, this morning, and am thrilled and amazed at the wonderful people across the world:
https://www.algemeiner.com/2017/09/11/israeli-aid-teams-dispatched-to-florida-to-help-with-cleanup-following-hurricane-irma/
Bob's done/is doing some work for our neighbours Garth & Linda yesteday & ongoing, and today he's at Pat & Glenn's working on their deck, ongoing basis. Sure helping with funds for our upcoming trip to Calgary & meds for me, etc. Such wonderful neighbours!
Deb I hope things are going well for you at the show. Exciting times for the pups.
Stellar day here. I love Fall. Hope everyone is having beautiful weather too.
Great Bob is making few extra dollars Susan, every bit extra helps..any news on the other job he was being considered for.
Dianne, days can't get much better than today..absolutely gorgeous..how is Diesel?
I disagree with you Betty... you do not have a lazy bone in your body!!! Your body has to SCREAM to get you to slow down and rest & recuperate!
that zebra is adorable!
I do agree with Pat.
Morning all, if I thought yesterday was a gorgeous day today will be even better, 54 with a high of 75...maybe we are getting the summer we never had.
Called mom a few times yesterday, no answer, she called me back last night, said she had been in bed since last week with flu, hoping she would be able to get up a bit today. Said likely she would be able to get around enough to go to Buffalo Friday but not so sure that is a good idea.
Not sure what I'll get into today
What are you all doing?
Off for cup of coffee and toast
Had checkup at doctors yesterday and I'm holding my own! LOL I have a palliative doctor and her job is to make my life easier in any way she can. She is sending a prescription for a scooter and wants me to think about a hospital bed. I associate that with finality and am not in favor of it yet. She seems to think it would really help with my sleeping. Especially since I could set the angle of it wherever it was most comfortable. As it is now I am fighting with two and sometimes three pillows. Norm thinks I need to change the way I think and start thinking about quality of life and what is easiest for me. We shall see. In the meantimes I am still going as strong as I can and will continue to do so......
Norm had an interview yesterday and has one today too. His social security has kicked in and has given us a much needed boost to our morale. At least we have an idea of what we can expect for sure and then Norm can take a part time job to supplement it. But we can at least pay our bills and eat. Feels like the elephant is off our backs for now.
Sending prayers to all in need and special ones for those who suffered from Irma. My heart is with you.
Please reconsider the bed Barb. It will make a world of difference in your quality of sleep. I sleep in a recliner for that very reason. If I had a room, I would get the bed. Hoping to get one after we move...if we move. I use a scooter at the store on days I feel I need it. I try to walk but have no problem with the scooter. Sometimes I take my cane, having a third prop helps with my balance.
So excited, message today says expected delivery of my machine is this Friday.
Big sigh Barb, sad to hear of your declining health issues but I sure think you ought to take advantage off all medical equipment you can get..I sure miss my electronic bed, been thinking of going to look for one as I think I'd sleep much better.
Karen, you must re arrange your home so you have a bedroom that you can use an electronic bed....look after you and not others or you won't be around to help out..
I'm excited for you re sewing machine..bet you are chomping at the bit for it to arrive.
I've been working on my pile of quilt tops/throws I have sitting around, feeling good about that. Was outside, grounds still so wet so I've taken another project out of the pile and looking for backing large enough to fit it so I can work on it, if not just might put a wedding quilt on the frame.
Debbie hope you get good results from your ct scan today..told you your fall likely created a concussion..making a list for joanns and other store, anxious for Friday morning.
Started a new thread for the 11th annual Christmas workshop for those interested

Barb here is a hint that Warren's palliative care doc gave us. First we bought a pillow at a medical supply store that had a steep slope built in. It helped for awhile but as things progressed she suggested we lift the head of the bed up. So Steve and I bought some cement blocks, then ran an extra 2x4 for support for the frame and added the blocks. As time went on we added blocks so they were 2 high but it really helped. The idea of a hospital bed was suggested for Warren but he blew his cork. I suggested if he got 1 I would get 1 too and that got a bit of a nod. Fortunately the cement blocks really helped. You do what you need to do for yourself and if getting the hospital bed is the answer so be it.
Betty is so right it is a stunning day out there plus most of the bugs have gone. I need to weed whack the rest of the steep hill down to the lake. I let it go this summer but want it cleared out for winter. I did some yesterday. When I went out later in the afternoon to finish my head must have been up my proverbial a$$. I didn't put my boots on just flip flops. Gave myself a dandy cut on my big toe with the weed whacker.. Dr Diesel took good care of the cut. He seems to know and finds cuts or bruises on my body and licks them until I make him stop.It always seems to help.
In heaven here listening to Aaron Neville. I've been trolling You Tube when I can't sleep and have been revisiting some old favourites. Warren threw out several tapes (was just getting into CDs then) at the dump when we moved down here from the farm house. He made sure I was occupied elsewhere when he did it. Amazon is very happy with me right now.
Oh Karen waiting for Friday is like a kid waiting for Christmas. Good for you getting the new machine. You do so much for others you need to do something for yourself.
Thanks for asking about Diesel Betty. His leg is showing some signs of improvement. He will have to go to the vet at some point. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. Mon and Tues he ate 1 cup of kibble with a slice of bologna sliced up in it. He hadn't eaten in a week except for a couple of milk bones and a chewy each day. He is quite put out with me as I won't let him go with Duke and Chaos when I walk them. Plus no stairs. I use a bath towel to lift his hind quarters when he goes up and down stairs. Although he did jump up on the bed yesterday.
LK did both your sons help with Harvey ? Kudos to them and their friends.
Susan I bet Bob is enjoying his work for your neighbours. What's your count down for surgery ?
Got a late start this morning. It was garbage day so I had 8 bags to get up the lane. Just made it in time he was almost at our mail boxes. Then I went to Foodland. Betty you would love this I went for cases of Nestle water. I start stocking up for winter now so if I can't get out I still have what I need. Anyway 4 cases of water and $99.00 worth of groceries I came home.
Hope everyone is enjoying a stellar day.
Dianne and her TH
Debbie just let me know the results of her C scan. She has asked me to post that she has a concussion but no bleeding. Rest and pain meds.
Thank you Diesel for playing doctor to our Dianne, you could have done mega damage to yourself...we just got rain so not sure Dianne what happened to the sunshine 😏Maybe it's warming you up.
Glad you are seeing some improvement with Diesel..now if only he can behave till he is healed.
Hope a few days of rest is all debbie needs..glad she went for tests.
Karen, did you order a new machine?
Barb, I agree with the others. You will enjoy that hospital bed. Dad had one. He was vety picky about the mattress, it was too firm, so I went 5o Walmart and bought a 2 inch memory foam topper. He was very happy.
Dianne, glad to hear Diesel is healing your cut.
Thanks for letting us know about Debbie.
Just my youngest went to Houston to help rescue people. The crew he went with rescued 250 in one night. The next week, he took a truck and trailer full of pet food to Houston from the San Antonio humane society.
Your son is an example of how we all should act in an emergency. You are so right to be very proud of him Linda.
Been discussing things with Norm and he thinks the bed may be a good idea. I know I have a mental block about them after having both my mother and Norm's mother die at home and all I can picture are those beds. I'm just not ready mentally I guess.
Interesting that you should mention the hospital bed Barb. I just talked to Ben this week and suggested that it might be time to consider one. Some days it is soooooo painful and difficult for him to get the right leg up on the bed. We can't lower the bed we have and still have him able to get UP. A hospital bed would make it easier for him to get in & out of bed. It will give him rails to help reposition himself. Trust me, when you are missing one limb & have had multiple surgeries on your shoulders, repositioning is difficult! Add to that when I have to help him with his socks, THAT can be painful for me as well. It would make helping him with personal hygiene much easier. I don't have to do that frequently, but when I do, it's pretty bad.
I had a repositioning bed for several years. I did not think the mattress was all that comfortable but the ability to raise the head was critical back then. It prevented a lot of sleepless nights. I've been pretty lucky to not have many sleepless nights nowadays. I have a prescription when I can tell it will not be a good night. I also have some over-the-counter sleep medication that really helps. I don't need them every night.
Thank goodness SSI has kicked in, that is a huge relief. Sending good thoughts & prayers for Norm's interviews.
Dianne, Glad to hear Diesel is getting better. Flip flops or shorts are BAD combination with weedeaters or lawn mowers. I am WAY to scared to try any of those combinations.
Concussion is bad enough, so relieved to hear no bleeding.
Linda K, please tell son thank you for his help! I wish I could find more meaningful ways to help. We have set up a special fund at church.
Betty, any updates on Inuk?
Hi everyone ..
Thought I would/should say a proper 'good bye' ..
I won't be renewing with DG as my health has taken a turn for the ? hmmm well, who knows ..
My heart is doing weird things .. had an ECHO cardiogram yesterday, just awaiting the results.
I am genetically pre disposed on my Dad's side of the family, but thought that I had dodged the bullet.
As you can imagine I am scared silly, but, we have a great cardiology team here.
I'll miss all the interaction .. and sound advice.
Please all of you stay safe, and live long, cuddle your furries (mine are a god send).
Know you are always in my thoughts and prayers, and, I will follow along on FBook.
HUGE HUGS
Marilynne
Oh "M". Do you really need to leave? I would gladly pay for a subscription if you needed it. I can't imagine not seeing you here and I missed you so much when you were gone before. Please reconsider as you know we all love and care about you. I know it is hard but prayers from friends can sure do a lot for us. I do understand though. My prayers will be with you no matter what......
Please don't leave "M"! I too will help with you subscription if needed.
Barb, another thing you will need if you get a scooter, is a carrier for your vehicle. If the government is giving you a scooter, tell them to put a lift on your vehicle too.
Morning everyone, 61 right now but promising 73, as "M" and Dianne would say, a stellar day for sure.
I was just going to say the same as Barb did, thread was missing a main participant, so missed you and loved seeing you back and posting about Lorna, Gord, you and the family..please stay with us so we can monitor your progress..am sure all is bleak right now and you are low in spirit but better days are ahead of you..hugs
Called mom last night but no answer, I imagine she was resting and didn't take calls as sharon also tried her..will call in a bit to see if she's improving..sure hope she doesn't insist on coming with us tomorrow, I'll tell her when she is back on her feet I'll take her stateside.
You indeed should be very proud of your son lindakay, to help save that many lives, putting his life in danger to do so is beyond words, add bringing food to furries, well give him a hipug from all of us.
As for inuk, he started therapy yesterday and couldn't could barely move last night, here is hoping he is on the mend.
Wonder how Deb is doing at dog show?
Debbie, you feeling a tad better today?
Know Karen is at the window waiting for her new machine lol
Quilted a Xmas throw yesterday, another of the same to finish today..my pile is getting smaller, pleased with that
Had issues with internet yesterday so called rogers and after working with a lovely young lady I'm up and running again. Sure do miss it when I'm down.
Barb, you're such a kind heart, and, thank you .. but .. I tend to think I will just stick with FaceBook.
Won't really be having much time to get online anyway .. and, I tire so quickly.
Suffice to say, prayers are MORE than gratefully accepted .. and, my thoughts and prayers are always with you all ..
HUGS
~M~
Linda I didn't order a machine, my "son & daughter" did. I was coveting a Bernina Minimatic. It's lighter weight and I should be able to carry it to VFW group. There are other light weight machines I know but I'm spoiled by Bernina. They called the other night to ask what I would suggest for a machine for her. After discussing several options, They asked me what I would get for myself. I told them about this one I had seen. It's an older machine but seller says it works well and has return guarantee. Supposed to be here tomorrow.
