im sure Norm enjoys being home withyou Barb, being able to help you, make life easier for you.
Thoughts and prayers are with USA tonight as you await another hurricane, Mother Nature needs a talking to.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new..
Happy Birthday Barb!!! I hope it was a GREAT day. You & Norm deserve LOTS of good days and relief from stress.
I did have good time off. My alarm went off this morning and I was SOUND asleep. hard to go to work today... always is... someday I'll be retired and suddenly my "time off" won't seem so precious.
Happy Birthday, Barb!
We aren't taking the cat in, except to feed him once a day. He's on hard food, and water (now. We can't afford the upkeep of milk anyway). He's 1 1/2 yo approx.
I've been told he's so thin cuz he's a mouser. Even the prop mgr tells me he's always eating mice.
Morning all, will reach a high of 61 today with rain..day to ok a project and mellow out.
Not much on my agenda today, starting to feel I lead a boring life, big sigh.
Pat,big smile here hearing you got to enjoy several days of I'm sure SEMI relaxation as I know you aren't one just to sit.
Susan, think you've made the right decision just to feed the kittie, knowing he is not starving vs adopting him..by the way,not sure I posted that I envy you being able to
Paint with bright colours..love it when I go to people's homes and see bold colours..I no can do.
Am sure I can find something to fill in my day..promise myself I will get paint out next week, will so how that goes lol
Hope you are doing something much more exciting
Off for more coffee
Off to work, cutting out doll clothes on my break at work keeps me out of trouble.
Lol knew you couldn't just sit and do nothing!
Am making a mystery quilt for my number two granddaughter's graduation. Got my pieces cut and now I need to make 73 half-square triangle blocks. Got a month to do it in so I don't think I'll fall behind LOL
Beautiful quilt Betty.
I especially like the cross eyed owl! He's my Fav! does remind me that I have a big Halloween door panel I should find and get done.
Betty - it's not really a bright colour, more of a burnt red, but you're right - it's bold lol
My cousin had a small bedroom, and painted it blueberry blue....... too dark for a small room IMO
The rest of the house is pale yellow, tan, or cream, so a continuous wall of deep red is a statement, but not overwhelming, IMO
The quilt I'm doing is a mystery quilt Betty so I only get instructions for a little bit at a time. I have a month to make the 72 half square blocks. Then I wait until the next instruction is released. I'm thinking the quilt won't get done for quite a while. Which is good for me. Grace still has two more years of high school to get through so I'm good.
Morning all, highs 61 here today, sweater kind of day, but in order to put a sweater one has to get out of their nighty right? lol. But no rain nor any expected over the weekend so that is good news as I so want to organize back shed.
You had to do it Pat didn't you, remind me I have a Halloween door panel to do, best I get it out and have a look, maybe we both have same one...if so we could urge each other on to get it done.
Ohhh Barb, never did a mystery quilt, sounds like fun..still a lot of blocks to get done in a month..what colours?
Susan, don't think I'd like a room in blueberry blue either..imo
Did you start yours lindakay?
Again riveted to CNN watching Irma and the damage created to Barbuda and yet another hurricane to hit them..mind boggling how people survive such devastation.
Prayers going out to my dg friends who are in its path.
It's beautiful lindakay, will be striking when border is on and quilted. When again do you have to have it ready for?
End of the month.
What size blocks did you use Linda Kay? I love how it came out.
Edited to add : the quilt I'm doing will be aqua and cream. Aqua is my granddaughter's favorite color.
Very fitting for Colorado.....

Beautiful, LK!
The blocks are 6 inches finished.
a small room in blueberry blue is too confining. A large room will take a bold colour better. I remember looking at homes before we moved to Calgary, and seeing a basement wall that was mostly take up by a Calgary Flames C - which is bright red, of course. It would be difficult to sell a home to someone who's Not a sports fan. They'd have to spend a lot of $$ in paint to cover RED, imo
LOL... paint would NEVER deter me from buying a house! But I've always shopped for the ugly duckling I could afford. The homes around me are double the price we paid.
My BFF bought a house with a basement painted in BRIGHT red and it took her coats and coats of high quality primer to cover that mess. Still would not stop me! LOL
Betty, of all the quilts you have shown us, THAT is one of my VERY favorites! Nope, your door panel is not like my door quilt.
LindaK, I have not done a carpenters star but it's on my bucket list,. YOUR's is gorgeous!
I have a friend/coworker Tami who is going out of town for a work related training with NO ONE going with her (that is SAD! having a coworker you like go with you makes it FUN!). she says I can load her up with busy work!!!! MUSIC to my ears!!! Tami sometimes helps me on our break time to thread the elastic thru the waistbands of the doll clothes. I am going to test her hand at cutting out print appliques & a few simple patterns out of recycled clothes for more "T-shirts" for the dolls. YEAH!!! help for my insane project!
Morning all, high of 61 today brrr will wait till this afternoon to go out inback shed and so some clean up.
I too would look underneath the yuk of a home while thinking of all I could do to it to make it mine, that is what I did when I bought this place..stillmuch to be done but I'm getting there.
Pat that is nice your co worker has shown an interest in helping with doll clothing.
Karen I too did carpenter star tree skirts, Lordy made many tree skirts, have no idea who else would need one so guess my tree skirt days are over..I might have one in stock, should check with Kyle if I gave them one hmmm
Still watching CNN for news on Irma.. prayers being said that those who have decided to stay don't lose their lives in the surge, think I'd be listening.
Thinking of going into Midland, don't really need much but it would get me out of the house, thing is I'll come home with car load of things I don't really need lol
What are you up to today?
Going to rest up today. Yesterday I went for a blood draw, had lunch out with Norm, went to Joanns and finally home. I was completely wiped out. So I might mark some squares for half square blocks and sew on Norm's cat but that's it. Bought material for the final border on a utility quilt so might get Norm to cut that. We shall see what the day brings.
I love that quilt Betty!!!!
Barb sounds like much of my yesterday too. Except we met neighbors for lunch. They are up from Texas for a month or so.
Betty, I had made 18 tree skirts when that's pretty much what I was doing all the time. Now as a wedding is coming up I make one if it's someone special to me. Just finished one for a dear niece.
Nice to hear you are getting out Barb, trip to joanns always makes for a good day..great that Norm can cut your fabric.
Yes you sure dida lit of tree skirts Karen, nice wedding gift, newlyweds. Usually don't have much in the was of heirloom decor and Home made pieces.
I called Sparrowlake this week to order that new ruler, does strips up to 6", had to leave my tel number, didn't get a response, called Friday to order again and was told
Owners were at ashow and not back until Monday or Tuesday and they would let me know if they had any left otherwise I'd have to wait for another shipment.
Sharon called, was crying, inuk started showing signs of being unwell, within an hour he couldn't walk,paralyzed..tookhimto the vet, thinkhe had something like a stroke, cartridge moving on spine, gave him a shot and said it would take a few days to see if there are signs of improvement...don't know what she would do if she has to send him over the rainbow bridge.
Kind of cool out there, warmer day tomorrow so will do shed then..quilted my 3rd table topper, thinking I'd I go put binding on it, have a hot bath to help pain in my butt then it should be bedtime.
oh no! poor Inuk, I hope he can make a recovery.
Sending prayers for Sharon and Inuk. She will be heartbroken for sure if the time is now...
Sending prayers for Inuk and Sharon. Praying for improvement.
My daughter is doing OK, considering. She has some good days, some bad. Right now she's working, a lot, to keep herself busy. Taking every shift she can.
I leave on Monday for the Afghan Hound Club of America show in St. Louis. It lasts until Thurs, will come home Friday. Puppies will be 6 months old on Tuesday, which is the first day of the show, so it will be their debut in the show ring. So many friends I was looking forward to seeing are staying in Florida because of the hurricane. I'm really looking forward to getting away, and there are plenty that I only get to see once a year at this show. It'll be nice catching up with those folks.
Deb
So sorry to hear about Inuk. Sending our prayers.
Betty, what ruler?
Good luck with the babies at the dog show.
sorry to hear about Inuk - Sharon must be beside herself with worry and upset
I'm praying that those in FL that stayed behind are safe...... no basements means flooding is likely. Those further south are not hit as badly by Jose as they'd thought, thank goodness - Jose went NE of the islands. So, I guess my friend Audrey's daughter Sandy is safe. She was, after Irma, and Jose didn't come near the Dominican Republic. Prayers are answered.
Morning everyone, 46 right now with 66 expected, are calling for low 70's and no rain for upcoming week, good time to catch up on fall yard work.
Thanks for your concerns re Inuk, sharon said there is some improvement this morning, vet said if treatedaggressively within 6 hours often needle/meds work so she is feeling a tad better, don't know what she will do when he is gone, he and the shows has been her life...posting in photo what vet believes he has.
Lindakay at sparrow lake quilt shop in Winnipeg they have a ruler that has a slide to adjust for cutting different sizes with an inner slide out set the fabric against and a type of friction pad on outer border so your fabric does move.
Deb, what a road your daughter must travel right now, such heartache..you are I'm sure a blessing for her. Will do you good to get away to the dog show, too bad many won't be able to make it, best they stay safe. Bet it's a pleasure travelling with the dogs in your new vehicle, is it everything you wanted it to be? How many dogs are going with you? Drive safe..
Let's hope news about Audrey's daughter is the best susan.
Time to finish coffee/toast and make myway outside.
Ruler video

I love that ruler.
I'll call again tomorrow but doubt because they did a big sewing show over the weekend they will only be operational tues/Wednesday. Yes I think it would work well, we will see
Just came in for a break, I'm about 3/4 finished cleaning back shed, what a mess, have about 2 bins for the garbage..there was a six shelf Rubbermaid shelving unit, had two, with the metal one that I didn't need in basement is now in its place (sore back coming for sure) I didn't need one so went over and asked Cory if he wanted it, didn't take long to come get it..he did pretty good, over past several years I gave him a metal shed when I had my wood one made, a window a/c and a few other things, he is alqways happy to get throw always..his wife as the sure she wanted the five basket storage unit so I'm washing it down and will set it at the road
Soooo, I will have an early lunch, meal imade yesterday,p then head out to finish the shed, grass is way o wet for cutting, guess it's an afternoon job.
Audrey's daughter doesn't know as much as her mother, re: hurricanes, because they don't have the electricity to hear the news. Guess the batteries died, or didn't have battery operated radios.
Anyway, Audrey had good news re: her daughter. She's safe. Can't say the same for her 20 acres of "garden. Palm trees, etc are flattened, and she cries every time she looks outside. She was crying, when talking to her mom
