Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have to tell you I found a local quilt group today. They are the nicest bunch of ladies that meet every wed, and they make kids quilts for those that are in the child protective services. I will join them next week, to help them make quilts.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a beautiful day out there

Here is hoping debbie your daughter gets the place she is looking at, younare a blessing to her,am sure she appreciates your signing as a guarantor. Great news about the dog show. Speaking of dogs, one of Sharon's whose home is in Pennsylvania I think was ill last week, Sharon's friend also called debbie had to take it to alternative vets as hers was on vacation..they said the 3 year old pup had eaten stones and maybe he'd pass them, Saturday the said they would do surgery to check things out, cancelled it but then rescheduled Sunday, dog had eaten a towel, passed away sunday night.

Dianne think storms are in b.c. As well..early for snow storms right? Hard to believe out Thanksgiving I'd in few weeks, not unusual to get snow between then and Halloween, seems,so close and hard to believe with this weather we could get snow

Omg Lindakay that is great news, will get you out and at same time do good for others.

Took excedrin migraine and it's helped, went sownstairs and sandwhiched a Christmas thrown, did another set of tubes for the rug and bag laying down until 4pm when I go tomget hair cut.

Got a call from mom around 3 yesterday, aunt Muriel's (88) boyfriend had back surgery last week and she wanted to visit him in hospital which is right downtown Toronto, a two hour drive for her so,she had someone drive her there using aunt Muriel's car..well the lady wanted to get home before aft traffic started somshe told her to go..her thoughts is she could spend night in his room...after friend left they moved Don to a ward so she couldn't stay..now here she is no place to stay, called mom and had her go pick her up but not until 8:30pm when visiting hours closed..here is mom an hour away, not best of health driving downtown grrr

Now aunt Muriel is at her house wanting to go back downtown so she can visit today then have momdrive her home..I told mom to stand up for herself and say no cando, she did more than enough yesterday.

Rita is suppose to come spend the night, she has a meeting in the area. Friday she has to leave for Quebec, 9 hour drive to mainofficeshe works for, her boss Remy isninnhospital nad told he won't be coming home so Rita will help family reorganize somewhat so that they can continue to run the business..

Always something..
Best I go look to see what I can cook up for supper seeing I'll have company

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear you still have a headache Betty. Sure wish that concussion would heal quickly.
So sad about the puppy eating a towel, and passing.
WOW! I can't believe they had your Mom drive to the hospital and back!
Betty, what do you mean, another set of tubes?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I would NEVER no how NO way drive in downtown Toronto.
When Gord has his eye surgeries we cabbed it everywhere, and I hung on TIGHT!!

LK, the quilt group sounds great :-)

Hope all the headaches are gone ..

Lorna stayed home today, a rain day .. went to town for some shopping ...
Remains dreary out.

Rita didn't stay for the night, did her meeting, visited for an hour and just headed for home.

"m" like you it's not the place I want to be driving, think it was a bit much to ask mom to do it AND she should have said no but then how do you let an 88 year old downtown with no place to go. Glad you and Lorna got out for kids shopping.

Lindakay, the rug blocks are done with fabric/batting tubes..need 7 1/2" x 7 1/2 squares (12 tubes per block) and 15 blocks to make a rug mat.

Time for hairdressers, she called, her perm was a little longer than expected so asked me to come at 4:30

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda so glad you found a compatible quilting group. I really enjoy our group too, just wish it met more than once a month.

Lyndonville, NY

What did I miss about a puppy eating a towel? Oh them memories of my Izzy and the
$$$$ to save her.

Still going slow here. Have not driven or gone anywhere since meeting Betty on Friday. DH has been helping with cooking because my upright balance is not good.

Had a rough morning with the animals here and had to go half out on the roof half dressed to get my cat. Don't know how he managed to rip the screen, I think it was the big cat and Huck just found the opening.

Nothing else happening.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy Debbie, that is not good, should you not be going back to doctors, no I know, they just tell you it takes an eternity to heal, rest, rest and more rest!

The vet was working on the 3 year old dog of Sharon's dogs that her girlfriend has..sad indeed..I was telling sharon about your Izzy.

Sothe bigcat was leader of the pack..what to heck were you out climbing to get huck down.

Got hair cut and decided while I picked up bread and milk if I picked up TV dinner wouldn't have to cook so supper has been looked after.

Must call mom and see what aunt Muriel and she did

Betty, the cat went out the bedroom window.....onto the roof. 2 floors up! I had just gotten out of shower and was so afraid he would run off the edge. SO....I did a Betty. Half naked out the window trying to get him and haul in. I succeeded.

Sharon was telling me about the pup at Joann's. That she was waiting to hear it was having surgery. Small dog like that does not have a chance and Izzy was a big girl. Still at that, lost some of her intestines due to necrosis and was a LONG haul healing.

IF by chance I get to come for Meaford...can we do Chinese? My treat :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

We sure will and my treat, missed treating you to lunch last Friday so it's a must.

Sure hope you can come, is paul onholidats that he could do driving? I'd make sure you rest and not do much.

Feel bad for Debbie, dog owner, heartbreaking for sure. Am sure you had a lot of nail bitting days waiting for word from the vet re Izzy.

Spoke to mom, reluctantly she told me onher way to hospital she pulled out and she and a car banged each other, she said no damage to either car so both went their way. Shaking my head, she shouldn't have been downtown driving

Know it's early but I'm thinking of getting cozy in bed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Suppose to hit 81 with a feel like 91 today..summer weather for sure.
Was restless last night, lots of tv watching, finally at 5:00 I got out..washed down washroom, had coffee and toast and I'm ready for another breakfast.

Think I have a 2:40 dr appt today and also need to order flowers for aunt Hazel so I will get another coffee and head downstairs maybe sew on the floormat and other Xmas throw ready for quilting, might even get outside and cut down spent flowers, always something to do.

Wonder if Susan gets to come home today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry you did not sleep well last night.
Hoping you get some rest today.

Was wondering about Susan as well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't they normally only keep you in 3/4 days, guess it's all dependent on recover process.likely she is chipping at the hits to get home!

Watching CNN, prayers going out to those those who experienced yet another hurricane and earthquake, overwhelming..they just said storm path will not hit USA thankfully.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It has been a bad year for storms, fires and earth quakes. Keeping everyone in prayers.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Popping in to see if any news from Susan ..
You're correct Betty, if all went well, she should be moseying on home today.
Weird as this is, a large city north of Susan, Edmonton, DID have a snowfall the other day after having had a day in the high 90s the day before ..

Pickled peppers today and baked a couple of loaves.. DH is out getting apples from the trees, so, I see crisps and a pie or 2 in the offing, but, my ticker says, NOT TODAY.

Puerto Rico is just decimated .. can't watch the destruction anymore.

You got to wonder what Mother Nature is thinking "M" high temps one day and snow the next, shaking my head.in 80's the next week with feel like temps in 90's, would have been a good week for you to head this way but I guess Lorna has to work until thanksgiving..hard to believe Meaford applefest next weekend then thanksgiving week after.

Are you not concerned with all the driving and being far from home with your not feeling well...think you had best do what your body is telling you, no pies or crisps today..does Lorna bake, maybe you could wait till weekend and she could help.

Now you have my mouth watering

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

"M", I pray you hear something soon from your Dr. But no news is good news?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Keeping you in my prayers "M" that you will be good to go.....
Prayers for Susan too.
Breaking up my sewing room this weekend. Hate to do it but it is time to downsize once again. Thank heaven I know quilters who will love to have what I am giving. I'll only keep enough to make some placemats and runners. Those I am gifting with fabric have told me that all I'll need to do is let them know what I need and I'll have it. Good friends to have for sure.
Hospital bed came yesterday and I must admit I slept better last night. Sure hope it continues.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Must have been difficult making that decision Barb, will you use the room you are dismantling for the hospital bed? Glad you were able to have a better night's rest..hugs dear friend!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good rest for you is most important Barb.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi Ladies - I'm back home, safe & sound. I'm in Central AB, not southern, although we did get some snow it was mostly melted when I got out of the hospital, turned to rain.
The surgery went well, and I have a script for stronger meds should I need them, and of course I overdid after being discharged and I'm going to have to rest more

Betty - sorry to hear about your Aunt Hazel's passing
Marilyn - send my condolences to Lorna for her cousin's passing.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good to see you're home Susan .. goes without saying re 'taking it easy', do your exercises, and, take your meds.

I called my doc yesterday, spoke with is nurse .. she pretty much confrmed what I thought, things with my heart are OK, or, he would have called .. I see him in November. Lorna works til end of October ..

Barb, good to hear you're getting better rest with the bed ..

Temps here are creeping up into the mid 80s today ..

Enjoy your day

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are home Susan. Get some rest.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilyn - Lorna takes from November to when, off? Does when Spring start determine, or does she have a set date? How about her leg - are things getting resolved?
Thank you, LK - I slept well last night, in 2 stages, for 2 hours, then for 4 hours, so didn't get my meds "on time" but even so I seem to be doing ok.
Trying to think how I'm to carry my coffee to the den, while manoevering a walker (only 2 wheels). Maybe I can, maybe I can't, but Bob pre-prepped coffee maker last night, & I just put the grounds in and it's now made. Maybe I'll just have it in the kitchen

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Susan, you'll need a 'traveller' mug .. with the lid/insulated ..
Lorna goes back to work in April, end of, sometimes the beginning of May ..
Her leg is awful ... jury rigged to keep it on, and, painful to work/walk with ..

Have an apple pie in the oven, once it's out, shower time .. very overcast of a sudden here, looks like rain ..

wonder how Dianne and Debbie are doing

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree with "M", you need a mug with a lid. Maybe until you get one, you can put plastic wrap over your mug, so it won'y spill? Keep that knee moving. When I had my surgery, I had an automatic machine, I put my leg in, and it automatically moved my knee. I had to keep doing that till I could bend it at least 40 degrees before they let me go home. It took 3 days. Like this one, My insurance paid for me to bring it home for another 30 days to keep it moving, as well as home nurses for therapy 3 days a week.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

"M" so glad to hear that all seems well with your heart. Hate the worry that Drs. put us through sometimes. Give us all the worst cases and then down the road it's "Oh never mind".

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree Karen, waiting is the pits!

Where is Betty today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Had company early this morning, joanne brought over a friend from Denmark, had a nice visit and some laughs.

Susan glad you are home and doing well, yep, travellers mug iswhat you need. No playing around, doctor's orders only.

"m" that is good news, know you will still worry though. Thing is when they say, if we don't call it's good news, but how many times have you heard paperwork goes astray..best to call for answers..I've a candle burning, pumpkin/apple scented, rather have your apple pie cooking smell.

Best irun, need to get ready for funeral home...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I do have a travel mug - only one I use.
My knee was bending @ 65 when I left the hospital.
Just got asked if I would like a visitor - Adriana from down the street, so going to put on my housecoat and get ready to receive a visitor

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, a stellar day in my neighbourhood as the girls would say.

Funeral at 11, grave yard then brunch afterwards so makes for a full day. Aunt hazel's birthday today..being buried same day as being born..her burial site is bpnext to Roger's so I'll have a visit with him, always odd to see my name on tombstone.

Susan hope your visit went well..65 bend is good is it not?

Debbie, had Chinese last night, wanted to make sure t was still good..drats they give you so much I've enough for supper tonight.

Nice we finally get some swimming weather now that it's fall.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Caught up reading this morning.
Barb, glad to hear you slept better. Think of it this way.... your friends took "your surplus" and will now provide what you need, when you need it! LOL
So much going on with everyone, I will not even try to comment on all it. Just know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
We had a nice visit in Yakima with all 3 of Ben's daughters, youngest in from Minneapolis for 4 days. Spent one night in motel, it is soooooo much work to travel with Ben, it always makes me hurt for days. He has pulled a muscle in groin so cannot lift his leg into the truck or into bed at night. NEXT time something like that happens I will insist on taking the van. It is not so high and will be an easier lift for me to get his leg in. One time I nearly could not do it I was so tired. I am glad to be home.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Pat .. good your back, and, I empathise with you.
Lorna is pretty self sufficient in most ways, but, when we travel the lions share of lifting and carrying falls to me .. just this past year I have forced myself to SLOW DOWN .. I tend to race around making sure things are done prior to when she will need them .. hope you rest well.

Susan, how are you doing today ?

Betty, imagine getting buried on your birthday ! Chinese food looks yummy .. we'll have it on my birthday.

Karen .. this weather is sucky !!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty hot this week-end but the kids are having a wonderful time. Swam all day, out building a campfire now for S'mores.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - visit went well with Adriana - Pat dropped over too, so it was the 3 of us. Really nice.
I made a repurposed jeans bag for the walker so I can carry things around easily.
Today Joan from Red Hatters came to visit and brought a tall bouquet of flowers - lovely.
Bob's still working for Pat & Glenn, making their deck & overhang, and also for Garth & Linda. Nice to do work in the Park, walking distance from home. This means we'll def have the funds to do the siding on our home.

morning, going to be a hot one, thought I'd get out and do trimming but think it can wait for a cooler day. Suppose to if considering feel like reach 102 today but by end of next week back to normal fall weather.

any of you whose leaves turn getting color..mine are drying out and falling before turning but do see color when travelling.

last few years hasn't been the best for fall colour tours, usually after our thanksgiving they are at their prime.

made sure when boys were here yesterday I'd remind them Thanksgiving is the Sunday so its on their schedule.

drats problems with internet..apparently need new line, coming between noon-2pm. then come back Tuesday to install new equipment.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you had a nice visit Susan, beautiful flowers.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Day after our Thanksgiving is Bob's & my 19th anniversary....... the big 2-0 is coming up!!
For this one we're going to Three Hill's Black Bull Steakhouse. It's a friendly restaurant with great food.
