I'm pleased that Bob's put one side of our deck fencing and rails for the back steps on, and no more materials purchased, which means the yard is tidier! It will be good for when I get back home after my surgery Hooray!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new..
Girls left so too late to take photo's but will next week..June did a cover up, Aline got her birdhouse piece sandwiched (spilled hercoffee sllover it) washed top and backingand dried, put her behind, pat got her fall table topper done, will quilt it at home,I like her dark colours she chose, I got the leaf blocks applique'd so am ready to sew blocks together but found the couch Lordy it's comfy!
All summer we've had a young girl join us with Una (who's been looking after her when her mom's at work). Today was JC-Lyn's last day with us, so we had Bob take her picture with the "older" ladies, so she'll have a picture to remember us by. Una's putting it in the local community newspaper as well.
Our flowers are budding again - got a bunch of rose buds & flowers blooming - It's a short plant but makes up for it in flowers & beauty!
We have a "heat warning" on for a couple of days, but still have some yellow & red leaves falling, and the farmers are out swathing their fields. Sure sign that fall's on the way when you see the hay bales out and the farmers working the fields again.
Beautiful photo Susan. Please tell us which one of those beautiful ladies is yourself?
Morning all,
Sunny but cool, 66 and calling for rain later this afternoon.
Lindakay Susan is in front row with blue top on..
Nice photo susan
Bored today, lots I could do but here I sit on the chesterfield, kickme off would you please..
What are you all up to?
Yup, that's me, in the blue top sitting next to our young lady who's been visiting our group (JC-Lyn). Sandy is to my left, and Una's in the flowered orange top, behind me. To Una's right is my friend Pat. Oh my goodness - they're ALL my friends lol
Back row - LtoR - Betty, Linda, Joan, Pat, Una, Audrey
Front row - LtoR - Adriana, JC-Lyn, me, Sandy.
Bob took the picture :-)
Not doing much today, watching the devastation on tv on the coast.
Beautiful photo Susan.
Lovely ladies!!! It's good to encourage the youth to the joy of reading. Good job Susan.
Morning all,
Yikes 51 and high if 61 today...low of 45 tonight, fall is a coming!
Lindakay, doingmuch the same, watching CNN and am in awe of the devastation and how people can cope and move on. With what has been going on
With what has been happening in the states of late it does the heart good to see all races helping each other.
See the masses of household items at curbs, what on earth will they do with it all, am sure garbage disposal sites won't be able to handle it all?
Deb and Debbie keeping you in my prayers
"M" how did Lorna make out at work yesterday, did your fix last the day
Good morning, ok...is afternoon now by 15 minutes.
I made plans today to go to Rochester for my allergy shots and then manicure or something. And then God laughed at me.
I wanted to keep busy because it is my Aunts funeral today. SO, I had the entire day structured to go out after shots and keep busy. Noooooo way!
Hard night sleep, running an hour behind (my own schedule) and finally get in the car.....and my light is on saying I have a flat tire!
I come back inside, go to make a pot of coffee.....no coffee. No filters.
It is chilly here also Betty. My plants are dying off so fast.
I think I spoke about the murder in our town of the young girl. They caught the
"woman" who did it, no one she knew, random act and she is a mental mess they said. The family can rest some knowing she was caught. Megans funeral is today. The other gentleman who was killed on the motorcycle ....his is tomorrow.
I am a bit overwhelmed with it all.
Goodness Debbie, not much good news in your neighbourhood, not a wonder how you cope. Good lord was telling you to stay home today and care for yourself..loved the photo of your aunt on Facebook, know it's upsetting you couldn't be there..was the funeral held in Florida?
Take care of yourself and know your room is ready if you need a retreat.
Not a lot going on here, sitting quietly hand sewing binding on the 2nd fall table runner..not going anywhere this long weekend so was thinking perhaps I'd get the fall totes out of the back shed and decorate for fall, I know, it's early but I'll not take out Halloween just fall decor..when I think about it the fall fairs and Meaford applefest is a month away so not too early, not like stores already having winter clothes out and Halloween lol
Spoke to joanne this morning, she is already decorated inside and outside for fall..
When do you all decorate for fall?
Debbie - such sadness around your neighbourhood.... take care of yourself!
Betty - I've been thinking about decorating for fall, but it's been too warm for that just yet. Have the stuff our though......
Sorry to be AWOL, as always so much going on here on the thread.
Hugs to those in need.
Getting a little sewing done in 15 minutes increments. I have a WHOLE 4 days off starting tomorrow after work. I can hardly wait!
to be honest, i don't really decorate for any holiday but Christmas at home. sometimes I find a cute decoration for outside. I do have 2 big scare crows, and some wreaths I change out.
At work I do hang wall hangings for different holidays and I have a 3 foot "Christmas tree" in the break room that I decorate for all holidays. I left up the 4th of July and probably won't do anything else until mid September when I put up Halloween, and each holiday after.
Morning all, high of 68 today, called for a sunshine long weekend but are calling for rain starting Sunday morning..not good for those wanting to take advantage of last summer long weekend.
I've groceries to do, think I'll head to town earlybefore the long weekend traffic and shoppers take to the stores. School starts Tuesday so lots of moms out buying school clothing and supplies.
Deb, how is your daughter doing?
Debbie,hugs
Lindakay, have you had any aftermath of the storm?was watching some of the residents going back to see their homes amdmy heartbreaks for them, hard to imagine such destruction.
Ziggy is resting after having been outside for a tad, makes me want to lay down as well but think I'll head downstairs and work on a project.
Is it a ing weekend stateside?
Betty, we never got any of the storm in our area.
I agree, so sad to watch them return to homes ruined.
Yes, it is labor day weekend here.
Glad you didn't get any inclement weather, even off shoots of the storm..Andy ok after his ordeal?
Gotthe fall project sandwhiched, not sure how I shall quilt it so I'll sit and look at it for a tad and decide.
Seems lots of kiddies rambling the street, guess it's their last hurrah before school.
Beautiful lady and handsome young man..might do her good to go back and keep herself busy Deb, know when Roger died the municipality I worked for wanted me to take a leave but I said I'd rather go back and on days I was feeling poorly for them to understand I just couldn't come I'm..worked out ok and was better for my frame of mind. Mknowing you are there is a big help! You yourself must be having a rough time of it, hugs..
Ann came to visit for a few hours this afternoon, she is having her heart checked as she hasn't been well and says she does a little and spends hours resting..she goes Tuesday for the results..imagine the twins start school Tuesday, junior kindergarten and they go all day..school is putting them in different classrooms so she is not sure how Alex will deal with it..
Was late afternoon when she left, thought I'd wait to do shopping tomorrow after going to Barrie to have my oil change done but thought shopping would be crazy so went out and stores were empty..ran into paul and we each had our lists ,mead a good chuckle wondering how much else would make it into my basket..blame Debbie, the had turkey breasts so bought one and the fixings seeing she made me hunger for turkey dinner.
Hip is givingmethewhat for so thinking iftaking meds and heading for a lie down
Are the twins old enough for kindergarten already! It just doesn't seem that long. The schools here tend to separate twins, too. If he has problems with the separation, hopefull they will put them back together.
Oh my Kindergarten already. Seems just yesterday we were all so on edge waiting everyday to see how they were doing. It was such an up and down ride for so long.
Oh the joy when they were finally both home.
I can't believe they are ready for kindergarten already. Please tell Ann that we wish them well and hope it all goes smoothly. A recent photo would be great too! LOL
Morning, brrr 41 with promise of 66 this afternoon.
Heading toBarrie as soon as i finish my coffee..oil change at 9 then will work my way to lens mill and see what fabric they have for Halloween then maybe another fabric store then home I come.
Brianna will let the digs out this morning at Greg's and again this afternoon..my shift is tonight and tomorrow and perhaps Monday morningbesides that is a lazyweekend..could do yard work thoughbut calling for rain both days.
Will get a photo of the twins..
I agree. Hard to believe they are starting school already. What is junior kindergarten?
Andy is doing fine. They got some winds, but that is about it. What is hurting him is everyone in town is spending money on back to scholl, or donations to the coast. No money for tattoo work. So he is stressed out.
brrr here as well - 15c/59F
Kindergarten? They're looking well, for sure!
Today I paint - hallway/dining/living room - about 30 ft worth, a dark burgundy red!
it really does not seem possible the twins are going to school! But then it doesn't seem possible that I have been at this job 4 years now either.
My twin brother & I were separated, he was held back in 2nd grade and so we from then on separate anyhow. In high school his best friend thought I was kidding him when I told him Mark & I were twins. Of my siblings, he looked the LEAST like me.
We are having a family meeting today at Sis's. Trying to come up with a solution so Dad can return to her house but resolve some of the burn out issues. We need to find a way for Marie to be able to go back to New York a couple of times a year to see grandkids & DD&DSIL. She needs to have time she can count on every week as well. I don't think Mark is going to be too thrilled at some of my suggestions.....
Mark does not work several months of the year due the seasonal nature of his work. I am going to suggest he stay at Marie's house for two different weeks during his off time. I get barely more than 2 weeks off in a whole year counting sick leave AND vacation. I will give up a week of my vacation to stay with Dad so she can leave. I can also commit to every other Monday. At LEAST during his off time, Mark should commit to one day a week AND provide the transportation & accompaniment to MD appts. His wife is healthy and working.
I am willing to hear EVERYBODY's feedback. do you think what I am suggesting is unreasonable?
With Dad's limited mobility, oxygen concentrater, etc, etc.it is too difficult to take him to our houses, and he is more comfortable at Marie's. Besides, we could then provide cooking for her DH as well. He won't go with Marie, hates to travel etc. His health and mobility is limited, my sis is 8 years older than me and her DH is 12 years older than her.
Anybody have extra suggestions to make life better for Sis AND my Dad??
I think what you posted is fair, everyone should help and pitch in.
Think what you posted is more than dpfair, not always though do all siblings want to helper, just not fair. Some senior homes around here take in seniors for a few weeks at a time to give families a break, could that be a possibility?
Know Aline and her sister took care of her dad for decades, he lived to 102 and the boys couldn't even find time for a day here a day there..just not fare.
Got my oil changed, engine light came on as I was driving, had to wait 1 1/2 hrs while they downloaded the upgrade so went next door and grabbed with Kyle who was working.
Dropped into lens mills and bought fabric, not going stateside for 2 weeks but I wanted to finish a few pieces sooo broke down and spent mega $$$ for fabric I needed for 1 wedding quilt backing and Halloween backing, should keep me busy until Buffalo.
Melanie and a few girls want to do the cork pumpkin one Friday night, have a wine night, stopped in a winery store and lo amd behold the young man gave me a whole bag of smaller corks, I'll make mini pumpkins for table setting for Halloween and bought larger corks for the bigger ones, need to find out how many girls Mel had coming so I can pick up what I need..need about 36 corks, raffia, fall imitation leaves for decor, paint and glue gun..should be fun
Cooking corn for late lunch then think I'll make spaghetti sauce..have the doors open letting in fresh air and odd bug lol, real fall day out there, evensaw an odd tree turning color.
I want to see cork pumpkin!
What you are suggesting sounds very fair Pat. The lion's share still falls on your sister but if she can look forward to regular time off, it will make things easier for her. Unfortunately it probably won't work that way as there are always some who don't feel the need to help out.
Pat - it's fair!
Morning all,
Raining and has been most of the night, sky is so grey likely to rain all day so it's inside to play.
Promised neighbor I'd embroider school emblem n 2 pairs of pants hoping she can get away with it and return the 2 pairs she bought at $79.99 each. Terrible the catholic school makes those less fortunate struggle to buy gym, dress and other garment with logo at triple the price. She went to Mark Warehiuse and paid $29.99.. think if school said something it would be because of the slight difference in color andnot the logo I tried making..hate embroidering for someone else as mishaps happen, so that is mynext morning project, get it out of the way..alreadybeen to greg/Mel's to let the poocjphes out, figure if I go at noon, 5 and 9 that should be ok for today..
Good luck on the logo.
Heavy pants and lightweight embroidery machine just doesn't work so I spent 2 1/2 hrs taking the s and half the t out and brought them back to her, big sigh!
Rain has temporarily stopped for now
You're NOT going to be able to embroider the pants? Oh, that's too bad, Betty! $160 doesn't grow on trees.... and now she won't be able to return the one pair of pants you worked on. How disappointing for you. At least she can return one pair!
Cooler today - going to rain tonight apparently. I can already see "flyers" from oak trees on the ground, along with some yellow leaves -yup, Fall's coming
Two weeks & I go into the hospital to get my right knee done - not looking forward to it. However, I am working on my weight, and at this point I'm 7lbs from my last pre-surgery weight, so I'm back on the "losing" end of it - hooray! Maybe the weight gain was muscle - yeah, that's my story & I'm sticking to it!! LOL
glad you can return both pairs of pants!
She can return them, she kept the bill just incase.
Was over to Greg's around 6:30 this morning to let dogs out, just went again, think I'm up for a nap, you know those cool fall days were a quilt covers you, heat on and you feel toasty watching a movie all covered up.
Sorry to hear you took the time and it did not work out.
Sounds like a good day for a nap.
Susan, make sure you start moving that knee as soon as you can after surgery.
Was worth a try Lindakay.
What did you get up yo today?
Had a bit of a nap but Ziggy thought laying on my chest would be a comfy place to sleep, I'm a awake and he found somewhere more comfy to sleep
