We maybe could find them someplace income based to move BUT we'd worry so about Amelia. I know she's not our worry but it's us that sees she gets attention and eats properly. As it is she's been spending almost every week end with us and this week is spring break so she just brought her stuff and is staying here. Sadly her mom thinks spending time with her is sitting next to her and handing her a tablet to play on while mom never sets her phone down. She also thinks hot dogs nearly every day is a suitable diet. Amelia loves that her "Bumpa" will sit and play cards with her and draw pictures for her. She's fascinated right now with learning to tell time and drawing clocks. We go for walks on nice days and visit with a couple of the neighbors..
I hope hubby gets some answers at the Drs. tomorrow he really hates not being able to do as he is used to. He drops things and cannot open jars or lift hardly anything. He's very frustrated.
Morning all,
Lindakay, he did indeed take the recliner and brought up smaller side chair, more room.
Didn't hear about tornado near you but believe there was a bus and Tripura accident killing about 8 seniors somewhere in Texas.
Barb hope you and Norm Slept like babes..
Sharon is on her way to surgery, having her bladder in a sling so wanted to talk to her before she left for hospital, sleep Angels came last night and think they gave me extra sleep, feel I can just roll over and sleep a few more hours..

Sending prayers for a good surgery. I had that done years ago, and it lasted about a year. Dr. wanted me to come back in for a repair, and I said no thanks.
Karen your GS and his family are very blessed to have you and your DH in their life. I sure understand your worry about Amelia. Is the baby being taken care of properly? Sending positive thoughts and prayers that your DH gets some answers tomorrow. Might not be what he wants to hear but knowing what is wrong is sometimes makes it easier to handle.
OK need to go - can you see Diesel's drool all of the screen (lol) ? He wants the treat I have in my pocket..
Dianne and her TH
A quick check in on all of you and Mr. Norm! Good news he is home
I am running out the door....going to be a LONG day. Will update when I can
Debbie
Hubby does indeed have carpel tunnel in both hands. Now I have to push and shove to get him to have it taken care of. Dr. did tell him it was his choice but will only keep getting worse.
Lorelei gets proper care but mom thinks she needs holding all the time. It's really an excuse to do nothing else. When Lolli is here she eats, gets changed, and after a bit of social time she fusses and I lay her down. She drops right off and sleeps soundly, Noise doesn't seem to bother her at all. She really is a good baby. But mom uses her for an excuse.
I made dire threats yesterday that help is coming this week-end and they better have everything ready to go. Last two times nothing was done ahead. GS even took two days off this week so better be ready. They basically only have to move two bedrooms the rest stays. They never did get stuff moved there from garage so....I can't physically do a lot but I do what I can when I can. They are just bone lazy.
And nor should you be helping them move Karen- my goodness you are giving them a roof over their heads. A neighbour from when I lived in the farm house got the same diagnosis as your DH. She put off having it done and once she had it done you would think she invented the surgery.
Oh Betty I think you are under a Winter Storm warning as I am. Oh joy! I brought in extra wood in case we do get freezing rain. The TH were quite frisky this morning but chasing sticks and of course running in the woods did the trick. This time of year I panic as the ice is iffy at best. I take them a whole different route when we walk this time of year. Mosquito Creek is not too wide nor deep so we walk that way.
How are things Barb? Norm behaving himself ? New Hampshire was in the top 5 places to retire to in the US.
The ticks are back .....you don't want to hear what I said as they deticked the TH.
Dianne
Hubby just walked in I now have Amelia and Lolli here and was getting ready to start dinner. He said...You mean you can watch two kids and fix dinner all at the same time....We had a good laugh over that. I used to manage all that with 4 and more kids. Of course I didn't work outside the home and I know there are plenty of moms who do all that.
Well we have the little house re-rented already. I saw an inquiry in a FB site from a young couple looking for a small house & messaged them. They have an 8 year old and one on the way. His parents live just around the corner from us. He works two jobs and she works too. They are hoping to buy a home in a few years. Meanwhile they think this will be perfect for them. I'm really happy to not have to go through advertising and fielding all the calls.
Hubby will be having the surgery as soon as it can be arranged. He was going to back out but I told him no way, it won't get any better and will just get worse. I had it on one hand about 20 years ago and am glad I did. He will need both done.
Dianne, looked at radar and should be passing through shortly then likely heading your way..not sure about freezing rain but torrential rain tomorrow..you will be glad when you no longer have to bring wood in. At least we know we are nearing end oh winter and can look forward to April showers as it brings May flowers right?
TH must love being able to run after being cooped up inside. The ticks, new ones??
Karen glad your hubby will have the operation, do they do 2 at same time..
Things we women did and looked after our kids..young ones have it easy!
Good morning everyone,Things are starting to even out a bit. Both of us are starting to feel human!!! We are taking full advantage of Social Services now. Norm has his nurse out to check on him and I have mine. Then he also has PT coming and we have a home health aide to help with meals and housework a bit. We do argue over whose chest hurts more from coughing, his or mine! LOL But we are getting a bit more rest each night and feeling better for it.
We are under that winter storm watch too with 8-12" of snow due this afternoon into tomorrow. We are fortunate to have a wonderful neighbor who already came over to tell us that we have no worries - he will take care of all the snow. Both Stacy and SIL Scott have popped in to check if we need anything at all before it starts. Don't know what we did to deserve such kids but I sure am grateful for them.
Must do my breathing before the nurse comes today. Sending prayers that all goes smoothly and that the kids get off their butts Karen. Hope Betty and Dianne and Debbie are safe with the weather and sending prayers and hugs to all.
Glad to hear you both have help, and are doing better.
Morning all,
Barb so nice to read your post and it's wonderful those services are available, they are they so take advantage of them all, will make recouping for you and norm so much easier.
Snow has almost melted, hoping that is the last of it, now comes the rain..
Back taking a gravol and sleeping through the night and into morning, Lordy almost 9 this morning.
Just got wash done, a row of quilting and now I'll do my hair as the clock moves quickly and I have to be in town to have new tires put on.will check weather once they are on and decide if I want to go to Barrie to pick up coffee/end tables for downstairs..do I need them, no...do I want them, yes..lol
Won't do so if weather isn't the best..
Sharon said she is doing ok since her surgery yesterday but how they manipulate your body is what is causing her pain..she turns 65 tomorrow, really should go for a visit...
Other than that not a lot going on in my neighborhood.
Good morning,
Barb, so nice to hear an update and that you are both improving.
We are getting our "snow" in the form of rain. Almost 24 hours straight now....quite muddy everywhere.
Betty, tell Sharon I wish her well fast! I had that surgery also. Get her a pillow to walk with across the tummy. It helps. Is like having a C-section pain and pulls.
I have so much to do....and this is first day I have been "home" all week.
Hugs to all.....
Debbie
Good news at last Barb, should be steady uphill from here. Great that you have all the help, take advantage of it.
the key for making letters upper case seems to be stuck. please forgive me and my lap top for having lower case when it should be upper case. it is driving me crazy ! I taught grammar to Grades 7 and 8 and loved every second of it. I used a grammar text from the 1950's,,,,, in fact i still have it. Warren used to say I would run around with a red marker correcting spelling and grammar mistakes if i could. All the other teachers would trade off music or math with me.
well the winter storm has sort of fizzled. There was some snow but it is now raining with ice pellets in the rain. It is very slippery to walk.
News worth cheering about Barb. I am so glad you have all of the support people coming to you. When I had my knee replacement the physio guy came to me. the hospital tried very hard to get me to agree to come into Ktown for my therapy.
Now Barb good things happen to good people and you and Norm are good people.I totally believe in karma. You have treated people with respect and been there when they needed you... now it is your turn.
Hope the weather is good for 'the move' Karen. waterfront seems to be going crazy sale wise here. some of these properties have been for sale for a couple of years and now are snapped up.
Debbie enjoy your day at home. Hopefully the cats will let you rest. How is Huck doing these days?
My power is flickering so I best fill the bath tub.
stay safe and warm.
dianne and her th
I had put things off for a while on the sale front, I was just too frazzled. Might relist again soon.
I have to laugh, DGs mother and his wife's aunt both in TN, keep posting how they miss them and wish they were back there. You know what? NOBODY offered to do a damned thing to help them when they were evicted. We brought them up here or they would have been in a shelter. They can have them back, all they have to do is help them get there and help them get a place to live...........Not hearing any volunteers. His mother keeps moaning she hasn't seen the baby, know what all she has to do is come up and see her. Nope, she's waiting for me to bring the baby there. I'd love to go to TN for a visit and see my grands & greats there but I can't afford it right now. We' spending all we have to keep these.
OK end of rant. LOL need that every once in a while.
This message was edited Mar 31, 2017 3:26 PM
And so you should rant Karen..I think it's wrong of your grandson knowing your and dh's health issues not to pick up his socks..mr mom did same with Sharon's son when he was about 20, he is now and still living with her, it didn't help him in any way, actually did him and his more harm than good. Think I'd be saying you have 30-60 days to get your act together and out..know I sound mean vpbut not trying to,,just thinking of all the extra pressure you have..
Dianne, light rain here but says by tomorrow the front should have moved on.
Smiling, you must have fun with my posts then Dianne, bet more than once you've grounded your teeth. Lol. Am sure you forgive us..
It's Sharon's 65th birthday tomorrow, waiting to hear if she is well enough for me to drive, meet up with mom and take her out for supper?
Got all season tires, winter ones in storage..did groceries, bought beach towels, picked up Chinese and now I'm ready for bed..why oh why do I get tired so easily..not liking it!
Having no stamina is horrible Betty. I've been living with that for so long now that I have learned to accept my limitations. Almost!! There are days when I know I have pushed too hard and days where I have no energy at all. And when you get a cold, you are happy just to breathe..... Those are the days you live with it and don't fight it.
It is so hard to stop doing some of the things we have always just taken for granted. And the things we can still do seem to take forever. But we ARE tenacious and we DO fight through the hard times. And then we do the things we want - only slower.... The most important part is to get the rest we need when we need it so we can function once again.....
Karen rant away. Personally I think you should be up for sainthood with all you put up with. Your gs's wife needs a good talking to and it shouldn't be from you.
Barb I think you have come to a good place in accepting what you and Norm can do. i remember 1 time I rushed to stop Warren from doing something and he looked at me and said 'please stop, this is something i can still do'
just pouring rain here right now but the temp is going down quickly. the th are just divas ...... they were horrified i expected them to go for a quick walk after they ate.
stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Dianne - I agree. Bob tried to do something for me shortly after my knee replacement, and I told him that I was quite capable to do it myself. :-)
Barb - how wonderful your friends & family are, and I'm happy to hear that you & Norm are not only getting such support, but that you're doing well again.
Today the weather was lovely, and I did some raking, moving the BBQ & smoker, and got some lumber stacked and cleared away. Bob moved some paving stones to the front and we'll have to figure out how to use it. Only about 100 rectangular stones, and 3 end to end will make the width of a walkway....... not enough to do a proper length.
Temp is supposed to be 63 tomorrow. It was at least 55 today.
We'll meet our new landlords tomorrow at 1pm
*sigh* it is snowing and has been for about an hour.
Barb how close to Manchester are you? The boston 11 pm news said the conditions are dire outside there. The cutie Pete Bouchard the weatherman for Boston NBC is in his element declaring it is a snow emergency. i am very glad you and Norm are tucked in safe and sound.
Need to get the TH in from the deck.
Hope the sleep angels find all of you. so far i have been bypassed.
dianne and her TH
Hoo boy, Sorry you are getting bad weather but so glad we are not. In fact supposed to be high 50s tomorrow and warmer yet on Sunday.
I have a hard time with hubby being over protective of me. I also had to yell at both of my sisters for the same thing. I had a hard time with them after our father died which was just a couple months after my first heart attack. I had stents put in and made a rapid recovery. They all wanted me to sit in a corner wrapped in a blanket. I was having none of it.
it can be difficult when a loving hubby wants you to be safe.
My daughter told me I should be careful not to let Bob "make me handicapped" and I understand what she meant. Bob went out and bought me a transport wheelchair (small one that folds up into the trunk and is easily taken from place to place). I used it a few times, but not often. Don't use it anymore. I'm a determined little person and won't be "crippled before my time".
Afternoon everyone
Was a sunshine day so went and met LINDA in Barrie for lunch/shopping..got home and decided to pich up branches/limbs..lots more to do, will put in another hour or so tomorrow. Already in my jammies & ready for a nap, even maybe bedtime.
Sounds like I'm not the only one thinking spring cleanup..
Susan, mud ding done, ready to paint?
Karen how did the move go?
Move is going along. The two of them still need to be prodded. Oh that's a good idea...a cattle prod. LOL
Doing some re arranging here too that I've been wanting to do for some time. I've made up my mind that this time, they will conform to me.
No Betty - mudding isn't finished (Bob did the corners, just need to have the last 1/2 of the ceiling done). The Board at the arena thought they were helping, and flooded the rink. The ice had been melted and all that needed doing was to have it swept off. Because of this, Tristan couldn't come to our place and finish our mudding. He'll be here tonight. Should be done tonight, to where I can paint.
Went to Fitness class today - really good. I can go to the Arena 7 days a week if I want to, for $30/month. By summer I should be really doing well. One of my goals is to be feeling better in time for my 2nd knee replacement.
Happy anniversary Karen.
Happy Anniversary..what an achievement in this day and age! Wish I G you both the very best..
Was up early and headed to the sugar bush for pancake breakfast, tummy full, lordy it was delicious..spend an 1 1/2 with godson, love watching him do his chainsaw'ing talent and his wife is just so bubbly...of course a big piece carved with red cedar had to come home with me he said..need someone to lift it out of my trunk, not sure where it shoukd go seeing it shouldn't be in direct sunlight, not much shade here so have to find a spot.
His cousin was at the festivities and is taking this sampling home..needs a transport and a tractor in order to get it home..today he will finish another owl and 2 babies in the back area.
Want to get out and do a tad more cleaning but will wait for a few hours so it warms up in the meantime I think I'll try and figure out a sewing project
Wow! He is good at carving.
Wow Betty totally jealous, I love chain saw carving. I have a 4 foot woodpecker.
Happy Anniversary, Karen!
Love the chain saw carving. He is very talented.
Happy Anniversary Karen I hope you have a great day!!!
I have been out raking leaves off the gardens. Found lots of little surprises underneath.
Congratulations Karen! 57 years is just wonderful. And I'll bet the two of you are closer than ever now.
Still so busy Betty. Is that your new machine I see?
Debbie - sounds so good to be outside.
I got to meet one of the little ones next door today - the baby. She was born in Nov and I'm afraid the sweater I made is too small already. So------now to make another!!!!!
They grow so quickly Barb, little tykes before you know it...
How are you both feeling?
Rita came this afternoon, haven't seen her since before Christmas so nice to catch up..yep is my new machine in the background, Rita was laughing, I've machines on every table.
Late for me, yawning away, time to call it a day
Thank you Barb,
Looks like you are having a good time with your new machine Betty.
Our kids gave us the funds to order new flooring for our front deck. It's quite large 14 X 36, and old. Was made of pressure treated wood over 25 years ago. It's not rotted but it is splintered. We're thinking of using the composite material as it is pretty carefree. Once we decide and have the material here , they all plan to come and do the work. We are fortunate in they are all as good as their dad when it comes to being handy.
Happy Anniversary, Karen! Looks like the "kids" made it after all! Soon it will be 60, and quite a milestone there, too! How wonderful for the both of you. I can appreciate how dear you are to each other.
