Prayers for you and Norm, Barb.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Sorry to hear about Norm back in the hospital.
Also sorry to hear about your BIL Karen. He has possibly had a stroke, and they will do nothing till Monday?

Keeping everyone in my prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, I'm with Lindakay, that seems a long time to wait for care..
Have you spoken to him this morning? Big sigh, health care is such an issue isn't it..

Was going downstairs to put a quilt on the frame, decided I'd clean the living room and start purging...if roads improve I'll go to Walmart and buy a few storage bins and filling them up

Freezing rain still happening, Greg only lives blocks away so called him and asked him to come get the electric recliner he and Jeff bought me last Christmas, too big my living room seeing it's never used, said he would so hope so

Finished washing floors, having a coffee and just maybe make my way downstairs..not much more I can do until I get totes..easy does it, one room at a time..

Barb I believe it is called a spignometer or similar. You just take feep breath...blow into tube...and make little ball rise to certain area. It helps lungs stay strong and clear after surgeries.

Rest! See if the chef can make fresh chicken soup with onions and garlic. Good for colds....and keeping vampires away.

Baby boy getting concert ticket...happy face

Hugs

Afternoon everyone.

Freezing rain here too Betty but it seems to swing back and forth between just rain.

LK how is Todd ? Stubborn guy right? Do you still have trouble with your teeth/sinus?

Susan you are doing great. Three cheers for you.

Karen you are such a good resource for Norm and Barb. What are you working on now?

Well I just had a horrid few days. If you heard blue words and saw smoke last night it was me melting down. Last night was just the boiling point for me. I was cooking a chicken - I rarely use the oven - and wanted to make cookies after it was done. I went to baste the chicken and there was no heat. So I finished the chicken on the BBQ. Now I really do want some cookies. I think I told you about my haircut - well it is worse than when it was just cut. I will have to wear a hat for 2 - 3 weeks. It would probably be OK if I wanted it spiked but right now it looks like a crop of fiddleheads ready to pick.

In the last 2 weekends 3 people have gone through the ice and died. The 1 guy was born and lived by the lake all of his life. Not my lake but lakes in the area.

On Thurs a fellow looking for a missing Rotti named Diesel knocked on my door. He lives south of me across Mosquito Creek .The dog got out of the gate the Thurs before. Diesel belongs to his son who is in the military and not stationed in Ont.I guess everyone was telling him I had Rottis and would also take in stray dogs while trying to find their owners. The dog did not have a collar with tags on. In my heart of hearts I know this dog went though the ice.

Betty I have been purging too - the garbage guy will be very glad when I am done. Warren had squirreled away a lot of stuff that I had no idea was there.

Stay safe and warm/cool everyone.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropping a in to see if there is news on Norm..perhaps Barb will post update in a bit.

Love the photos Debbie, can see his birthday gift was a big hit..what concert will he be seeing? How is your FIL doing ok?

We could be twins Dianne, I too had same haircut, need a perm to have some body in my hair bit she would never get a rod in it as its so short.

Now you have to get the oven repaired or will you try to do without now that bbq'ing season is around the corner..

You would wonder why these these people think they are beyond mishap..same here, meals the time it's the locals who know better...Ahhh, poor man will be devastated and having to tell his son his beloved dog is gone, many lost same in our area when I've was breaking up..you would think dogs could sense the danger

Managed to get the quilt on the frame, will wait till morning to start it..need boxes to put things I will take to Salvation Army , trying to work up energy to go next door to see if bakery has any.

Winds up and like you Dianne, it's rain one minute and freezing rain the next

Debbie, it's called an 'incentive spirometer' .. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/patientinstructions/000451.htm
Usually blue in colour.
Just wanted to wish Bab and Norm all the best as well as anyone else going through rough patches health wise.
My plate is full to overflowing right now .. will be heading east at some point in time before Lorna goes back to work, if she can .. her leg is a total mess.
Right now her Dad is in hospital ..COPD plus pneumonia ... parents are selling their home and going into a senior's apt .. this all just happened .. very emotional times ..

Don't come on here often, but, knew Barb needed a hug ..

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey "M", don't be a stranger. It is so nice to see you posting.
So sorry to hear about Lorna's dad. Sending prayers.

If i forget to take my zyrtec D, I get sinus toothaches. I know have them in my daily pill dispenser so I won't forget.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Checking for updates on Norm

"m" great seeing your post..sorry to hear things aren't going the best for you and Lorna of course. Guess even though you knew it was nearing the time they did so it's still heartbreaking and with Lorna being so far away very difficult.

Is Lorna still fighting to have her leg properly adjusted, surely there is some recourse. How is the family and Gord?

Lindakay, would Zyrtec D help me with feeling like I've toothaches even though I have no teeth? Is it prescribed or on shelves?

Ended up in midland for Kentucky fried chicken, tired but telling myself no going to bed this early...worked pretty well all day but don't see much of what was done, that kind of day

Roads weren't bad but there was an accident not far from the shrine so was rerouted..can feel the temp dropping, should check to see if snow in forecast

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry Norm is back in hospital but it's the best place for him. Thought he was released a bit soon. That's a huge surgery and a big shock to the system. It seems to knock a lot of things out of whack. It was a year before I really felt better.
My BIL is in a VA hosp. and I'm not happy about that. His blood pressure keeps going crazy way high then way low. I hate that they aren't really doing any testing until tomorrow. I told sis that if she needs me there just say the word.
Things are a mess here but oh well. We are moving GS & family back in here so we can get other tenants for the rental. I have a feeling his wife has no intention of going back to work and they just can't make their bills. I hate it but really no choice at this point. Think we'll get this place back on the market. I just really need a better climate.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, zyrtec D has to be asked for at the pharmacy counter, you might be able to find it on the shelf in Canada. It is a really good decongestant, and it helps with my sinus pressure. It cost $25.00 here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Checking in for news of Norm...sending prayers

Thanks Lindakay will check next time I'm at pharmacy

Let's hope Karen BIL is seen by doc this morning and tests run..more stress on you moving family in, hugs

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,
Rainy day today, last of snowbanks should be washed away..

Up several times last night, thoughts and prayers were with Barb and Norm

Hope to hear something this morning..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sorry I didn't get back here last night.
He is back where the surgery was done. I talked with him this morning and he said that the low grade fever he was running comes and goes. He has lost over ten pounds since he was discharged from the hospital a week ago. The congestion he had is tapering off but he has no appetite at all. He will be there another day or two I'm thinking. Now that the weekend is over and his own doctor is back, we can get more answers. I have a call in to my own pulmonologist for meds to knock this out of me also. Norm can't home if I'm like this... Will keep you posted as best I can...
Deepest thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Always fret and think the worse when seeing no post, thank goodness they are keeping him,I too think he was discharged far too soon..now that Norm is in good hands it's all about you getting better..hope meds work in record time.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I lost weight post by pass also. I tried to eat just because I knew I should but it would just bounce if I forced it. It was one time in many years I could have anything I wanted. I was teasing nurse at hospital and asked for a chocolate malt. He said absolutely and went and got it for me. Problem was I couldn't even drink much of it.
Sigh......most of the weight came back eventually. One change I'm really unhappy about, my stomach has really bulged.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, I'm with you, lost that 40 lbs last April/May and it's all back, big sigh, but I do feel better for it.

When is the move scheduled for, this weekend?

Had calls and chatted for what seems forever and then 2 visits, looked at the clock and wondered why I was tired, Lordy it's already nearing 4pm. Had a piece of Kentucky fried chicken but to greasy for me, guess I have to cross it off my weekly eats..

Smiling to myself, playing with my hair and yawning, sure sign I'm tired.

Sharon has new puppies, look like rats to me lol

She was told there was 3 of which 1 was dead, so upset about it, imagine her surprise when 2 males and a female were born

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

WOW!!! Isn't nature amazing? Sharon must be over the moon that she has all three.
Just wonderful.
Norm is still in the hospital. No definitive answers yet. He says he feels so much better than he did. They did an EKG and ultra sound this afternoon but of course no results to us yet. He is eating better but still not good enough I think. No word yet on any infection either.
My doctor sent in a prescription for my meds to knock this out of me. So far it is working full time. My chest is so sore from coughing and coughing and coughing.
But the garbage is coming out and that is what matters.
Finally finished page six of 18 on the cat. Starting to see his fur showing up under his chin. Will try to send a photo.
Hope this finds all of you taking good care of yourselves. I miss having other things to talk about with you but this shall pass.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty this is strange but true. When you said before that the vet had said one of the pups was dead, I thought it might not be, no good reason, just a feeling I had. Beautiful pups, hope each is a champ.

Barb don't ever think we don't want to hear what's going on. That's what we are all here for, to support each other. We each have our times when we are more needy and look to friends for support. Glad Norm will be coming back home. I think it was smart of him to go back and get the extra care he needed. Tell him to hug that pillow as much as he needs to. I was surprised how much it helped. When they first gave it to me as soon as I was awake again, I remember thinking how silly, but I held on to it for dear life many times. Until I could move without it hurting, that silly pillow was my best friend.

Moving time is this week-end. several are coming to help. Hubby can't do much now as hand and arm are really painful. and of course GS is soooo lazy. I read them the riot act today. told them help is coming this weekend and they darned well better have all their stuff ready to move. Plus GS needs to help make room in the garage for the extra stuff that won't fit here.

Already have someone interested in renting, Not the least surprised, rentals are very scarce here, especially houses. Plenty of apartments & mobiles but not a lot of demand for them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Light mist and overcast, no snow so happy with weather

Running late this morning, seems I've a mouse and Ziggy and his new found friend played for about an hour early this morning, what a racket, didn't see that Ziggy won, just hoping it's not under my bed..will have to take a few minutes and go looking.

Girls come this morning a fad it's garbage day, bins need to go to roadside, friend coming for the afternoon so would love to chat but in the run..

Did read your posts..hugs and prayers r those who need them, will respond when I have a few minutes..

Congratulations to Sharon on the babies! They look great! I bet she is so thrilled that the vet was wrong, re the one pup being dead.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those puppies are beautiful.

Karen, what did hubby do to his arm and hand?

Glad to hear you and Norm is doing better.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm thinking it's carpal tunnel, it's been bothering him for some time but you know stubborn men....He keeps saying he's cancelling appt. on Thurs. but I keep telling him differently.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Men are so stubborn!
I hope you can figure out whats going on.

I did learn from the ER doctor, as he thought that maybe Todd had carpal tunnel. If it is, the pain/numbness in his hand will be in the thumb and all fingers but the pinky. For some reason carpel tunnel does not affect the pinky. You can also tell him to hold his arm and bend his hand as far back as he can get it. Then thump on his wrist. If it is carpel, it will make his hand/fingers hurt.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - Hugs & prayers to all in need.
Barb - I pray that Norm is improving and that you're feeling better too. A lot of stress for both of you, to be sure
Betty - those beautiful puppies sure changed a lot overnight! I'm sure that Sharon is ecstatic about there being 3 live births.

Did I tell you that I am the new volunteer librarian in our community? I have so many ideas....
We are going to get some more drywall mud, and when we have it we have someone who will finish up the drywall in our den - thank goodness, because I want to move into it! We have been organizing stuff around, so our home is more livable, but still, it's too cluttered and jam packed for my likes.
Weather's getting better, and tomorrow I'm going out to rake the lawn. Time to see if there's any green under there!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, sun is trying its best to peek out this morning..was smiling as I read weather warning for some areas in Ontario for the weekend, said Texas front will cause many to have severe storms, thought how could you Lindakay lol

called joanne (hairdresser) and booked a perm appt..4:30 today.,hair is Sooo shirt not sure how she will manage but can't take straight hair sticking up any longer..got to do something with myself.

Oops joanne is here

2 Joanne's in one day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We had our storms last night, thank God there was no hail.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joanne just left, need to have lunch

Do you have a garage or car port Lindakay?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Neither one. We need to get a car port built.

Verona, ON

LK I got all excited last night Del Rio was shown on the 11pm Weather report. Silly I know but it was nice to know your city really does exist. lol

Barb how are things with Norm and you? Hope the meds the doc Rxd are working for you.

Diesel and Duke had their blood draw yesterday to check on their Lyme disease count. Diesel was an angel in the Escape. Duke and I have figured out he travels much better in the shotgun seat. We got to the vet's way early but there were no cars in the parking lot so I went in and asked if we could come in now.We were in and out 30 min before out our scheduled time. The blood test is sent to TO for testing so I won't know until next week.

Dull and gray here.Chilly too. Some talk of snow on the weekend. Not so bad as you know it won't stay on the ground long. I thought I saw a trillium poking throw but it was just snow.

Last week I ordered an exercise bike from Amazon and it arrived Thurs less than 24 hours after I placed the order. Its all put together and i just love using it. My knees fare so much better on it than the treadmill.

Betty i will get the element out of the stove and get a replacement at the hardware store in the village. They might have to order it in but that's okay. Of course since I can't use the oven I have this big urge to bake cookies.

Karen is this the weekend of the move? I know your family will be there to help. Coming from a family that rarely helped each other out or got together I really enjoy your pics and reading about how things went. You and your DH raised a wonderful family.

Oh Susan I know you will enjoy working in the library.

Need to find some lunch or maybe given the time i will just eat early.

Be well
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost feel human having had a perm..told her it didn't matter if she only left solution for few minutes, didn't want to be a fuzzy wuzzy lol rather go back in a few weeks if need be.

Dianne, you will be able to do element replacement yourself? What a Mrs. FixIt..amazing what we learn to do when need be. Going to have same weather as you..mega rain in the forecast..getting new tires Friday, almost worried about having snows taken off.

Hope it's good news re Lymme, they've been on meds for some time, should be ok right?

Did you have to put your bike together? Is there a meter that tells you how much you peddle?

Lindakay I too would love to build a carport..remember Roger picking up his new truck and that night we had hail and him having to get dents out and have it repainted..omg he used some nasty words lol

Susan nice to see you are feeling well enough to do volunteer work..

Deb, how are the puppies?

Barb, have the meds started to work on you? How is Norm doing? Well into recovery I hope, when might he get to come home?

Karen, I so wish there were alternate moving plans for your grandkids, a different homeo move to..do they not habpve rentals based on income..know you love the kids but im not so sure when they are with you that you don't try to pickup the slack and make yourself I'll..hubby must be lost not being able to use his hands as he once did..

Going to have a coffee and muffin, make sure everything downstairs is turned off and head to bed..been bust few days with company, not use to not having afternoon naps

My honey is home. This last experience was a doozy!!! So many things going on. I'm tired tonight so I'll tell you about it tomorrow. He is doing much better and the meds have kicked in for me as well. Will talk after I get some much needed sleep tonight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You will sleep so much better with Norm by your side..
Sweet dreams

Verona, ON

I echo Betty Barb sweet dreams. Although I bet you will be sleeping with 1 ear listening for Norm,

As long as it is just the heating coil in the oven Betty it is an easy fix.

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

I do a lot of things Dianne but won't touch anything electrical.

Greg amd Mel just dropped in, in gabbing they were telling me about Roger's cousin jimmy who lived next door to us on the lake, in fact there was 7 of us so all close, anyway his 17 yr old was diagnosed with leukaemia a few weeks before Christmas, I hadn't heard about it, he has undergone chemo p, here is hoping he will be ok..Greg was saying he got there late, bought 50/50 tickets and won $850

Then he went on to tell me an acquaintance who has a boat dealership where we lived just enlarged his showroom, state of the art, here he shot himself..told Greg he best not be telling me anymore bad news or if he does, not visit again till its all good news

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, I heard on the news today, as well as facebook, that there was a tornado that touched down about 5 miles east of us. I guess it tore down a few ranch sheds, but nothing major. There are a lot of huge ranches east of us, not too many houses.

Sorry to hear that Greg brought bad news. Tell him he needs to bring good news next time.
Did he remove the recliner for you?

Barb, so glad that Norm and you are both doing better.
