Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends Old/New, join us...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

My bumps and bruises are healing. The finger is almost usable and the welling in the jaw is going down albeit slowly. It gets bigger at times and then recedes a bit. If I hadn't told anyone they would not know. It isn't large - just really painful at times. m But as with most things, this too shall pass.
Today is Norm's last day at work. Now we make plans for next week. His surgery is scheduled for Wed and what is coming in on Tuesday? A major snowstorm!!!! We are thinking of getting a hotel room near the hospital for Tuesday so that we are there. We shall see.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That was quite the couple of days Debbie..now the roof because of storm be covered by insurance..ohhh hand fully no accident for Paul re cushion..guess many accident happen due to flying debris..

Heartbreaking re your mom's memorial garden..

My power didn't go off luckily but mega clean up of tree limbs to be cleaned once the snow leaves

Just read in local newspaper that the friend who passed away about 5 weeks ago, his dad passed away Wednesday..sad for family to be dealing with 2 loses.

Oh Lordy, watching CNN (addiction) and there is a story they are building robots so you can order a mate, same interests etc..a woman is marrying one..says the thing of the future

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Glad to hear you're healing, Barb!
Things were said on the previous page, but I got called away from the computer, and now I've forgotten what was said! Darn memory lol
With Norm's surgery on Wed, and a snowstorm is coming on Tues - gosh I hope you're going to take a hotel, as needed!

Susan arrives today, and we'll heat into town, and see some friends as well (including Doug?)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We had very light snow earlier, now sunny. I'm just glad the wind has stopped. When you live in the woods, wind is scary. So far stuff falls but not close to us. We can hear it come crashing down. Every couple years the kids have a chainsaw party and come cut what looks dangerous near us or the road. Their goal is get it down & cleaned up so they can go fishing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats Debbie must have sent me problems..just got internet back on..they sent a repairman within the hour, new modem so think all ok

Lyndonville, NY

I hope you are up and running. We have light snow flurries and a bit of wind. Nothing more. But the cold is not fun!

Verona, ON

Mega clean up here too. Just branches and a few larger limbs down.

Very wise decision Barb to get a hotel room close to the hospital. Not the same as sleeping in your own bed before a hospital stay but good not to have the worry about the weather. Years ago back in the early 80's for some reason certain surgeries had to take place in Cornwall Ont..The hospital actually booked you a hotel room when they booked the surgery. Same reasoning - weather.

Just beefed up the wood stove - it is cold here and the temp is dropping rapidly.
Stay safe and warm in LK case cool.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Aunt Muriel just called to reconfirmed she and don wouldn't come over due to blizzard..

So far so good Debbie, don't know what I'd do had internet been down for as long as you..at least I had hydro and phone..shows are freezing a tad but that's ok.

These days you can't take chances, great idea not having to worry about getting in for surgery, will you stay throughout Norms recouping or go home?

Hard to believe I was out doing a bit of yard work the other day just with a heavy sweater on

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Happy birthday Susan! I hope you have an awesome day!

Happy Birthday, Susan!

Puppy due date here. She's restless, and prefers my bed to the whelping box. I think it's going to be a long day.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Will be waiting for word on the new additions....
I will stay with Norm for Wed and Thurs. Then I will go every other day as it means I must have someone with me to help with wheelchair. Everywhere you go in the hospital involves a lot of walking and I just can't do it anymore. And they don't let you use a motorized scooter there. I don't have any strength left in my upper arms to wheel myself. If anything, I pull up the foot rests and scoot that way.... Quite a sight to imagine eh?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy birthday Susan, special day having Susan soend it with you..what is on today's agenda?

Ohhh how exciting Deb, how many again are they saying she will have, know you mentioned it but I can't remember?? Is someone there to help you? Guess a vet is not far away should you need one..hopefully no problems and health birth for all

Well Barb, you have everything worked out to a 'T'. Before you know it Norm will be home recouping and all behind him..keeping him, both of you, in my prayers!

Still stormy, clear periods so will not take the chance and go to Barrie..my immediate needs can be met by a quick trip to Midland, fabric shop and pick up Chinese or Kentucky fried chicken

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you for the birthday wishes!!
Lots of snow out here - except for a short walk down the street to Adrianna's (my knitting coach!) we won't be going out anywhere.
Last night, sort of on the way home, we went to Olds' Smitty's family restaurant, and had dinner. Both Bob & I got birthday dinners from them (his was the 6thh, and mine today on the 11th). All 3 of us had roast beef dinner. yummy!
Tomorrow it's off to church, then we'll enjoy each other's company and do things as we wish - we'll show her around the small town around and of course Torrington! Will have to go to the Gopher Hole museum! Bob & I haven't been there yet, and it's what Torrington is famous for!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds lovely susan

Verona, ON

Can't sleep. Checking in to see how Deb's puppy watch is going.

Glad to read you are enjoying your company Susan.

Still bitter cold here.

Barb I am glad you are staying with Norm for a couple of days. Praying they don't have to cancel his surgery. Most hospitals have volunteers Barb. You should check because you might be able to make arrangements to have 1 of them meet you at the door with a wheelchair.

So here I sit having Live PD on the telly. Not exactly a soothing programme. doesn't really matter as the coyotes are howling up a storm and Duke and Diesel are following suit. There is something setting off the motion light at the front of the house so it is probably a coyote moseying on up the hill.

I see the computer has had an automatic time change so it is now 3:40 am. At least for a few days I will wake up around 6am rather than 5.

Hope you are all sleeping.
Dianne and her TH

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Popping in for a minute. Today we are going shopping to fill in with all the things we forgot the other day!!!! Tomorrow is a chill out day and Tuesday we will go to the hotel to be closer to the hospital. 12+ inches of snow on the way Tues/Wed!!! Figures..... Trying to round up a few things for me to take with me. I will go crazy if I don't have something to work on.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, the moon is also full, making the critters crazy.

Barb, please know we will keep you and Norm in our prayers. Lets pray the weather liars are wrong with the forecast.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, pack light weight projects to carry along. Yes you can ask for a wheel chair if you feel the distance is more than you are comfortable walking. Should be volunteers or porters available to assist you. Don't wear yourself out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb, how is the birthing going? Sharon's will be mar28th and that is the day she has an operation, guess she will have to have a vet on hand.

Looks as though you've thought of everything Barb..it's the waiting that gets one down. Know when I went in for appendix, walked in, said to the operating room you go so no time for me to,worry..has the storm veered off?

Dianne I too,was up half the night, the buzzing in my head so loud, thinking of a nap and hope you can grab a few winks as well,,extremely cold but sunny today, would be a good day for you to be out with TH for a bit..

Lindakay how are you filling your days..bet weather is fantastic.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

how're you feeling, Betty? Well rested I hope.
Dianne - hope you get some rest as well.
Barb - is it still going to have a snow storm / blizzard? Hope you & Norm get to relax prior to surgery.
Deb - have the pups been born yet?

Lyndonville, NY

Barb remember to pack your chargers for phone or tablet if you have!!! Can stay charged up better than that....and our hospital had plugs on all walls now for that so kept it in my bag while at hospital. ALSO...get a sweater or lap blanket found it was cold in there!! And a few snacks for after hours lol

It is bone chilling cold here. Trying to clean up from the storm still....and rumor is the Nor' Easter will hit here first. Had men come out and tarp part of the roof also on Friday.

Stay safe everyone

Victoria Harbour, ON

Suppose to hit here Monday night/into Tuesday,..all counting days for April...ordered my tires, sure not going to have winter ones taken off just yet.

Debbie, great suggestions for Barb, needles to say you are a pro at what is needed..every time I went to emerge brought iPad but not charger, lesson learned!

Sure hope Deb isn't having difficulties with birthing..dogs don't tend to go days over due date I don't think, perhaps they do

Susan, is Susan relaxing, enjoying her visit?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Sorry, I didn't post earlier. Emergency C-section this morning. She was pushing, but nothing, pups heart rates were slowing down, so C-section was only option. Everyone is doing good, though. 4 girls, 1 boy. Mama's not too sure, yet. She's starting to bond with them, as long as they come to her. She doesn't want to go in the whelping box at all, but if I put them on my bed with her, she will take care of them. Vet said bonding is sometimes an issue with C-section pups, so it's going slow. I have been up since 6am yesterday. At some point I'm going to crash, I know. Have to set alarm to get up every 3 hours to make sure pups nurse. Wish I had something to put around my bed so they wouldn't fall off, I'd sleep on the floor, but they are strong little things, and do travel.

Omg aren't they the sweetest, can't believe all,the different colors, is that unusual Deb? Gives I'm just used timsharon's always being pure white.

Could you get pillows/ cushions or roll up blankets so they stay in one spot..poor mamma! The worse of not bonding is your having to hand feed them?mthat would be quite the chore..

Hope you can rest a bit, not a wonder you are exhausted.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm going to push the bed against the wall, and try to roll blankets, and see how that works for now. Afghans do come in a variety of colors, though I thought I'd get blacks and black and tans. I really like to color on that light silvery blue girl. she may be staying here!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Another of God's miracles Deb, They are wonderful. Hope all goes well...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Like that one as well..

Was telling Sharon, she had a few moms who needed c section..she posted to me

"She will come around natural birth is bonding after each pup.. she gets to clean them and make sure they poop. C section. She just wakes up to pups"

Verona, ON

Congratulation to Momma dog and you Deb.You must be exhausted Deb. I too was drawn to the silvery blue puppy

Still bitter cold AND Debbie has decided she must share the wicked storm coming with me. Was watching the tracking of this storm and you can see it move north right around where Debbie lives.

Full moon out here shining in the bedroom window. There are some times on a clear night the full moon lights up my bedroom so much so I can read without a light on.

LK how far is Mission Texas from you ? I am so geographically challenged.

I know I mentioned before about ending Santa Warren's Christmas Exchange but after reading your responses and thinking about it if you all want I will do it again this year. I must admit I do look forward to it.

Stay safe warm/cool everyone.

Another excitement for the day Dianne, had hoped you would reconsider..this thread at Christmas just wouldn't be the same, am sure the others feel the same..thanks you for reconsidering!!☺️

Purchased all I need should the storm be as bad as they say..one good thing now that the bakery, variety and eats shop has opened next door I can always get the necessities I need.

Loved it at the lake on a clear night..lucky you getting to enjoy such beauty.

Of course laying on the couch all day, snoozing off/on I'm in bed wide,away..bought crossword and word search for iPad use, trying to find where I saved them

If the sleep Angels come by, ask them to drop in on Dianne and I please..id,say Deb as well but I'm sure she won't need a sleep angel.😇

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those puppies. Sorry to hear momma gad to have a c section.
Mission, Texas is almost 6 hours south east of hear. Way down in the tip of Texas.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Busy day here today. I'm trying to get everything set to go before we leave for the city. We are expecting 12+" of snow starting tomorrow morning and of course Norm's surgery is Wed.!!!! We have reserved a hotel room close to the hospital for tomorrow night. Now we are waiting to see if the surgery gets postponed. It will be difficult to get personnel to the hospital as well as the patient! Trying to figure what to take with me to pass the time as I was told he will be in the OR for 6-8 hours. I'm thinking one book won't be enough!!! LOL
Sending prayers for all in need and hoping you all stay safe in this storm....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, brrr it's a cold one out there.,I'm still in bed, closed the door so Ziggy can't come in thus a little less heat in the room..trying to talk myself into getting up and check if it has started to snow.

Loner ve racking for sure Barb, bad enough worrying over normal circumstances to have the storm thrown into the mix..hope surgery doesn't get cancelled

Will someone be with you?

Victoria Harbour, ON

meant to ask Deb how mom and puppies are doing and if you were able to get any sleep

My daughter Stacy will be with me. Son Bob was here yesterday and said he is only a phone call away if I need anything at all. I'm good I think!!!!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Mom is doing ok, she's taking care of the babies, as long as they are on my bed with her. She refuses to go in the kiddie pool I set up as a whelping box. So, I pushed my bed against the wall, and packed towels so no one could fall between the bed and the wall, some blankets and quilts on the floor, just in case someone fell, and rolled up blankets to try to keep them coraled by her. I slept sideways across the foot of the bed, and set an alarm every two hours to check on them, but never even slept for that long at a stretch. Other than a quick trip to pick up more dog food, I'm hoping to spend most of the day napping.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Snow on the ground here this morning. I think it's the first snow we've had since December.

Glenview, IL

Morning everyone.
So sorry the storm is going to hit you all again. Wish I could send some of our warm weather.

Love the pictures of Julia. She is looking lovely!

Verona, ON

Very cold and awaiting snow to start. It isn't supposed to start snowing until later this afternoon but the sky looks like it wants to snow right now.Debbie is sending or rather sharing the wicked storm that she is expecting.

Oh Deb the lengths we go to for our fur family. I understand completely. One of my Sammies years ago had cruciate surgery. We lived in the old farmhouse then and bedrooms were upstairs with lots of stairs to climb. I slept on the living room floor with Ana. Not wanting to be away from his family Tundra joined us on the floor.Hope momma is doing healing well.

Thanks LK. I was watching Live PD and Mission was 1 of the cities included.

Oh Judy Julia looks beautiful. Just think you soon will be a grandma.Ready for that?

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and Norm.Hopefully they will give you a recliner to sit in by Norm's bed.

Going to throw more wood blocks around. I want to be ready for the crappy weather.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

These gals sure know what to pack to spend day at the hospital, change for vending machine an excellent one..

Ahhh Judy, Julia has a ray around her, just glowing..update on date of birth?

Keep looking outside, no snow as yet, like Dianne, later today but we've had snow all winter, southern Ontario hasn't so perhaps it's their turn and it will miss me.

Would love your heat Lindakay..is it humid as well right now

Hope you are snoozing Deb
