Evening all, how exciting for you, what a grandma you will be..love your machine,
yep can see you sewing up a storm
Just got back from Christmas dinner, Bernie and Charlene just left for home, think I will have a coffee and try to get some sleep, didn't sleep well last night.
Are you all tired out?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new
Just home from our neighbours - had Christmas dinner, day, games of Aggravation, followed by evening meal of leftover turkey on a bun with all the fixings. It was lovely. Spent time with her sister & brother in law. Lovely people. They made sure to give us presents from Santa! Got a holder for tea towels, that buttons on the oven handle. Came with 2 tea towels. I've never seen a holder without the built in towels. Also got some Apple Pie spice - good for coffee, I heard - put it in the grounds as you're making coffee (instead of salt). Got some thermal socks. All from Santa lol
I have never heard of salt in coffee grounds, but I do put cinnamon in my coffee sometimes when I make it.
Glad you had a good time.
Salt in the coffee grounds is supposed to cut the bitterness.
The people who gave us the apple pie spice said they use cinnamon in their coffee grounds when they make it.
My Grandmother used to put eggshells in the old percolator. She perked that coffee for 30 min. I could never drink coffee that strong.
Morning all,
Christmas 2016 is now behind us, hope it was an enjoyable one..know some had struggles with Christmas day these year but I hope some of the memories of Christmas past made it easier for you.
Not sure what is on today's agenda, Darlene and John are urging me to open the sewing machine box to make sure it's working..not sure how I am getting it home yet,,wether I'll take it on the plane, send it home with Judith on the 2nd if they have room or leave it for John and Darlene to take home in April.
As for salt on coffe I always add a pinch of salt and it does take the bitterness away
Glad you and Bob were out for Christmas dinner Susan, was nice of neighbors to invite you and have gifts for you.
Judy (BIG arm wraps) Congrats on the new baby on the way!
I hope you all had a nice Christmas. It sounds like Santa was very good to all of
you.
Overcast with a drizzle rain here which is turning streets to ice. I am staying home.
Stay safe and healthy....love you all
Debbie
Haven't heard about Margaret for a few days, since we last heard she was responding to commands, etc, and they thought she was improving, slowly.
Yesterday was lovely, being with friends. It would have been lonely indeed if they hadn't.
Counting down to surgery day.
Woke up this morning to kitchen water lines being frozen, but Bob thawed them quickly..
Oh Betty, I think I'd have had that machine box open lickety split. I just couldn't wait to play on it. Bet you're going to have a ball with it.
It's open, just wanted to make sure it sews..
Now to get it home!
Think I needed it like a hole in the heads lol
Think Debbie they are getting freezing rain, Judith in house behind us said lots of deadly accidents at home over last week..hope you've no more doctor visits in next while
How is Paul doing?
Lindakay, have you been speaking to your sister?
I speak to her and my brothers every other day.
Doing ok?
Legs are just pain'ing, one good thing I kept saying I'd have to move here for winters if hey stopped pain'ing instead of the cold but the dampness does an number on them anyway soooo winter here's come
Yes, everyone is doing good. Dad's memorial is the 30th, she is getting everything ready for that.
Paul goes back to work tomorrow. He is on light duty...desk duty. No more than 5 lbs.
I have to go back to Cleveland on Saturday. Pray for good weather. Hate traveling New Years Eve. Appt. Is at 11:00 so very early start.
Praying for good weather for you, Deb!
Thank you Susan It is a 4 hour drive one way and hitting New Years Eve travel traffic on way is not going to be fun. I was able to get the "last 2016 appointment" of the year for the MRI center.
Hello there,
Just back from the waters edge, had lunch out then another trip to Joanns..
Tired, almost feel as though I need a nap lol
Debbie, not the best me to be on the road for sure..will Paul go with you? He is lucky there is light duties where he is.
Lindakay, will you be going to the memorial or will you go later for burial?
What an honor for you Karen..
you've found your niche, you are so meant for these presentations..what part of the quilt were you responsible for?
How is everyone doing, now preparing for the new year?
Holidays will soon be over.
Karen - that is glorious! And to be able to present it on his birthday - what an honour and he looks pleased :-)
Betty - on NYEve our community center is having a celebration outside, with hot chocolate & treats inside whenever we need a "warm up"
Debbie - are you able to claim any travel time, or the MRI on your taxes?
Just found out this afternoon that the Park we're in has been sold and the new owners take possession July 1. Same time as the rent is going up $40 / month.
It's still much cheaper than our previous address. The current owners will be staying here as Maintenance, and the new owners won't be moving here.
Told Bob, he'll need to have our place completed before the new owners take possession, and he'll def need it cleaned up in the yard & home before I get home from the hospital......
Betty, this is my design. We were given the center panel and asked to design a quilt around it. I pieced the top and then the long arm was done by our state coordinator.
I did the finish up. Binding, label, and laundering.
The design is spectacular Karen, what thought and love went into it!
Bet he was overwhelmed. How do the recipients get chosen? Know you told me before but can't remember.
Susan, when income is limited then $40 is a big hike. Bob will have a lot on his plate then finishing the renovations and making sure property is cleaned up.
Another sleepless night..drats
Morning everyone.
Betty, all of us kids will be going home in the spring, when they bury his ashes in the ground next to Mom.
Karen, that quilt is beautiful.
Drive safely on your trip Deb.
We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. They went home yesterday afternoon.
Wonderful Karen. I'm so very proud of what you do for these vets. You are one special lady!!!!
Good Morning!
Lots to do today, however, all can be done at a leisurely pace.
Christmas was wonderful...This year I chipped in for quite a few big items for everyone and just got stocking stuffers, everyone was pleased.
lol, DH and I agreed not get gifts for each other, HA...married people we gave each other little gifts anyway. I dunno it just seemed odd to no gift my honey and he ended up feeling the same way too.
...for New Years, not sure what we will do but on the 7th we are hosting a dinner party for our kids their other halves and the parents. Should be a pretty nice gathering. Emily and Jake been going together almost 4 years and only I have met her mom. We met Jayson's Mom at Halloween but not his Step Dad. So we are looking forward to bringing in the New Year and meeting all the "in-laws"
With all that being said, I will attempt to keep this house in decent shape...
Awe a big smiling Thanks you all for your sharing in my delight at being a Grandmama! lol, all I got to do is remember seeing the ultra sound and I just cry, happy hopeful tears. For Christmas, couldn't help it bought a piggy bank for Baby and filled with all the loose change I had to date...And thanks Debbie for the
Armwraps!! So smiling right back at you and all.
Oh Karen, Just beautiful quilts!! Oh my goodness, that one you did for the Fireman is just spectacular! Glad you got home safe and sound.
Betty, glad your new machine works, lol I'll just say with all the activity in your craft room, I'm sure it will be put to wonderfully fun use! OH my gosh and holy sewly!!
I love, love, love my new machine!! It is totally incredibly fantastic- Ohwah it does everything, OMG computerized, foot petal or simply push a button!! I was just giddy with delight playing with it and lol Jake was so tickled he took to showing his friends....especially showing off my sample stitching of our Name!
Your time in Florida is almost over, I hope the trip home is safe and stress free.
I see you have enjoyed nice walks on the beach, your sunset photo was gorgeous.
Oh my or are you already home? That picture of Ziggy next to you is so precious.
Awe Barbara, glad you got to see Brandon, congratulations on his job! I know such a proud feeling and yet a new place to visit? Where in Ohio will he live?
Hi to Norm...Thanks for the compliments on the Camera birdhouse, lol I love it.
and Thank you again for all the beautiful gifts. Pegasus actually found it and enjoys chewing it, lol he loves to pull the beads and lil Flo enjoys chewing at it too.
As things get put away Peg is not so nervous out in the main house...
Linda Kay, continued gentle Armwraps, I'm glad you had a nice Christmas. Oh my gosh sure love your snowman wreath thanks for the instructions, I will copy them and most like store until next year, my girls will love them for the doors or balconies...Jason bought them a nice little fake tree, she has it decorated really nice. Awe, my gosh my little girl so grown up, she is the assistant manager at Tuesday Morning- I went to her store and was quite impressed with her and her store. I forgot all the variety they have...I'll have to venture out that way again!
Breenie and I went Christmas shopping a couple of times, it was lots of fun and she kept me on track lol I just kept wandering over to infant sections of all the stores...Mo'omm were not here for that, lol, but at her store she was delighted to show me all the baby items, haha.
Dianne, Hope you feel better after the fall...Oh no on dropping your soup, yikes what a clean up. I was smiling to learn you had used the gloves for getting your wood- it was the intent of them, I love to burn wood but hat touching it, I have gloves at both houses, just to move wood....Speaking of, Jake and buds hauled another load and stacked and so don't you know, I found a heart, can't be missed--I think of you all the time and hope all is well with you and TH. Yikes sorry to hear about the noisy neighbors, I hope they settle down. lol People don't realizes how their sounds do travel...We get a kick out of hearing people out on the lake especially if they are talking about the house! Still people chatter about what we've done to the place. Are you in need of more sage?
Happy Birthday/Anniversary my friend. And Thank you for hosting Santa Warren's Christmas exchange..It is so much fun, and especially love to play "elf" giving info and answering questions from other "Santa Warren Elves" I think Warren is smiling on you.
So delighted the little sleigh held up, I was worried bout the stockings staying in tact, lol..awe, how cute to hang a pickle from Liz to it, lol she finds the neatest stuff.
Waiving Hiya Susan, sounds like your new place is getting together nicely, I am glad for you and Bob. So nice your friends invited you over for Christmas. So nice they gave you gifts too. I love when Everyone receives a gift to open, this year Jake and I went out of the way to provide extra special for a few family members who really don't get much-So what a beautiful way to spread the love.
Speaking of, I wanted to go to Church and didn't...so I am feeling really bad about that. I did however wish the Lord Jesus a Happy birthday throughout the day., doesn't seem the same. Last year I went to the last Mass, lol it was good that I know the Story of Jesus well because the Mass was entirely in Spanish, lol!! But I do love that their Mass is so very festive.
Been typing for a while, sooo lil flo is screaming good morning, good morning...time to feed the little brat and myself...lol.
Be back soon.
Got some photo's to share and more to each of you.
Winks and armwraps until then.
Thank you for all the well wishes - we do see a light at the end of the tunnel
Today Bob moved our HUGE desk pieces out to the shed, so we have more room in the bedroom. As my hospital visit is on the 13th to 16th, we know there has to be more room for me to get around with crutches, so Bob's trying to get the home cleared.
Tomorrow we have an electrician coming to help get the addition hooked up. We don't use it yet, so everything is mostly still in the main part of our home.
I can't even get to my sewing machine. The table I've been trying to use is now a dumping ground at the entrance - oh well.
I keep trying to remember all my blessings and I have many, but sometimes it's difficult not to feel down & depressed.
I'm sorry for venting ladies. I guess I'm nervous about the upcoming surgery and not sure what the outcome will be, with my lungs (I'll be going to get another scan of them, to make sure I can have the surgery).
Well, that's enough about me
I'm SO happy for those that are able to see the babies in their families and that everyone's safe & sound.
Bless you all.
OH, I have a question for anyone that knits - do you know what type of stitch this is, and how to do it? Someone on one of my knitting FB pages is asking, and I thought maybe it was finger knitting.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dianne, hope your day was special in every way..
Busy night packing, have to be at airport at 3:30am so busy trying to pack, cannot believe all I bought and all won't be going home with me..
Machine yes, embroidery part of it 'no'😢 but friends who have the place behind here are going home in the 2nd of January..they likely will have room if not I will be patient ipu til Apriil..a,Maureen they will though
Was out today so picked up little decorative pieces for our Christmas project, greenery will come home for sure in April.
Be back in a bit
Happy Birthday, Dianne!!! Hope you're having a Wonderful Day, because you Deserve It!!!
Betty, id I were you, I would buy a travel case for that machine, and make sure it was your carry on luggage.
I had both of my suitcases damaged when I flew to Michigan, zippers were broken, and United says so sorry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU6F12S6q48
Way too big Lindakay, last time I sent machine home I went to another area and they marked fragile..hopefully it will make the trip
Happy Birthday, Dianne!
Debbie Reynolds died, guess the death of her the death Of her daughter was too much for her....great actress!
Taking early flight and having to get in middle of night with friends is the pitzzzz
Not bad when you are coming south but not so heading north
happy birthday diane!
safe trip home betty, shaking my head lol look at all the goodies.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DIANNE!!!!! I'm sorry I wasn't here yesterday......
Big snow coming today - 12-18 inches and I have a doctor appt in the morning. Don't think I will make it once again....
Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. I spent a quiet day with the TH. I read and they slept. I have a few new books but there is so many I don't know what I want to read first.
Barb we have your snow. It is coming down hard and has been for a few hours. Hopefully there will be enough of a cushion on top of the ice that we can all get out safely. Yesterday was a white knuckle drive in and out of the lane.
Susan I really liked that hat you posted. Did you find out how it was made ?
It doesn't look like Betty's flight will be held up by the weather at this end.
Stay safe and warm ladies.
Dianne and her TH
OOOps I don't know what the WLs had for breakfast but the weather report was all wrong. The snow has caused 48 cancellation of flights this morning at Pearson Airport. The roads around it are slushy and slippery. The Sanders and plows are having trouble keeping the roads clear. Barrie right up near Betty is still under a winter storm warning. Betty will not want to get off the plane.
Still snowing here.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne & her TH
I guess I won't be having my knee surgery yet. My extraction point hasn't healed over, and when she pulled that tooth, it showed a cavity in the next tooth. She didn't fill it or do anything to it.
I'm supposed to have my mouth healed long before surgery - 6 to 8 weeks prior - and there's no time to do more. Mouth is still aching more than a week after the extraction. Doesn't look good for Jan 13th, but have put in a call to the knee surgeon's office. Waiting to hear back. Pretty upset.
Also, remember when we had a mouse back in Oct (haven't seen one since)? Yesterday we cleared the way to the long dresser I haven't gotten to, since June. Found a huge mouse nest in one of my dresser drawers. Used hand sanitizer on us, sprayed the furniture with Lysol sanitizer, and Bob used disposal gloves for everything.
Threw out the clothing that was in the drawer,
Afternoon everyone
Susan, that is too bad about your having to postpone your surgery, know you were anxious to get it behind you.
Barb, better make the appointment another day, no sense taking chances
Dianne, that was a quiet birthday..what do you do with all the books you read afterwards, have a library at your house? Here is hoping you don't get the storm they are calling for tomorrow.
I will start by saying I'm changing as per Kyle Ziggy's name to Satan, Lordy he is a ball of fire.
Dianne was a rough ride, girl beside me was sicker than a dog..pilot came on and said we made it 25 minutes earlier than expected, likely because we left a little earlier, two minutes later he came and said we would have to circle around as all the plies and sanders were working on the landing strips...all and all we landed 15 minutes late.
Then I had brought the machine part of my embroidery machine home, in the box, they put fragile on it..me and two others kept waiting and waiting for luggage, didn't come, finally about 1/2 hr after everyone else left I went and asked, nope boxes and fragile so go on different belt. Grrr so I missed the 10am airport limo, took the 11am one home until 1:30..went through slush in Toronto, ice pellets near the ski lodges about 1/2 hr from me, snow for 10 minutes then overcast here at home.
Took a hot bath, called mom about tomorrow..she has a bad cold so we decided to go to Buffalo in a week or two, thank you lord, thank you..now I can rest for a few days, no nothing at all, well that is not really true...already starting to gather up Christmas, will work on that but that is not hard.
Mom told me another cousins lost her hubby Christmas Eve, stroke, took turn for the worse and passed away..52. That is 3 cousins who lost their spouses since December.
Had wanted to bring the embroidery part of the new sewing machine but left it..am sure I will have it by next weekend, I will play then, in the meantime I'll download designs and learn how to edit them to meet my needs
I have some cleaning to do but not bad..took spaghetti out, doing a wash and am enjoying being in my jammies..will do a few loads of wash and unpack my suitcase..
Was in the road since 2:30 this morning so it will not be a late night, especially now I know I'm not shuffling off to Buffalo tomorrow
