Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old & new!

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning

Catching up on sleep and still doing some running.

I went to the Dermo yesterday Betty, the spot on my face that was bothering me
is skin cancer. Got a treatment on it....go back in 2 months. If not better will have to
go see plastic surgeon to get the area removed. A couple other spots treated but were not worrisome like the face. So make sure you go!

Love the costumes, they look exact!!!

Shane started new job and is staying with Shannon during the week. I miss him terribly but this is a good thing for him and the job has benefits and room to grow.
He speaks positive of it.

I had a laugh about this new bathroom paint. Was at the store and all the sudden it hit me. Dear lord, I have painted my bathroom walmart blue!!! Yes it is that bright!
Told DH if I can't get it settled down with the accessories and the white added....I may have to get one of the blue and yellow Minion shower curtains and do the bathroom in Minions!!! haha

Hope M is home safe and resting. And Karen...get well!!! Knew she was feeling poorly but not this.
Susan you will soon have an additional roof over your head....and spread out. Then...REST.

Waving to all.....I need another cup of coffee.....and some of my blackberry cobbler.
I was happy the way it turned out!

Afternoon

Lordy can't believe it's noon hour, went to town and picked up a few thinks need for supper tonight, we will be 8..

Been ragging aunt Muriel's squares and have fluff all over everything so will give myself till 2:30 then it's vacuuming and dusting time.

Thanks re table runner, wouldn't you know I found a piece hidden in woodworking area, could have made it easily for Halloween but think it's too late to get into it right now npbut one never knows

Keep looking to see if "M" has posted, worried something may be amiss..hope she is still not upset about not meeting up, things happen..we both tried..perhaps another time

Sure smells good in here, making me hungry so best I get something for lunch or I'll be into Halloween chocolate cake. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

I vote for the chocolate cake!

Did Greg get his costume yet? How is Mels Dad doing?

I ordered Chinese on Friday. Was NOT the same! Disappointment.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tempted to cut the cake Debbie but didn't..
Looks yummy though, it's a Reese's cake, forgot ice cream so went and got some
Did porkshops in slow cooker in cream of potato soup (Linda's suggestion) better taste good lol..also chicken breasts in the oven just incase chops don't tip urn out.

Greg dropped in last night, gee whizz Louise I've got big boys, tight fit to get him in the shirt so being a good mom I undid the shirt, out a 5 inch insert and redid it..Greg wears it to party Saturday night and Kyle to work Monday, can't believe Kyle is bigger than his dad..shaking my head..if he doesn't drop in tonight a, sure he will tomorrow night..I told him no costume unless he cuts me a plexiglass ruler 11 1/2" sq..too funny, let's see if he remembers

Melanie's dad came home Monday but has to go for therapy every day in Barrie..they think all the cancer is gone, now to get what the stroke left him fixed

You will have to come do rag quilts and we can have Chinese.

Omg mom called, apparently she called last night around 8 and I was home, then twice today, no answer..she called everyone checking to see if I might be back in the hospital..😏

Best I get tatters /veggies done

I'm back home. Just couldn't take it there any longer. Final straw was getting woken from a sound sleep at 5 a.m. to weigh me. I think that may change as Dr. and nurses were pretty appalled by it. Also machine that regulated meds was screwed up and started beeping every few minutes and had to wait for a nurse or aide to come fix. This has been going on since I got there. I had oxygen taken off and held my own so Dr. agreed I could go as I really wasn't going to get any better there. Home feels awesome. Will rest today and get back to sewing tomorrow, been fretting about how behind I am.
I shouldn't have let myself get so bad but hubby had his week-end cannon thing and I knew he wouldn't go if he felt I was really sick so I faked feeling better until he came back. This was their 30th year and he worries it may end as so many are getting up there. This is the only thing he does and it's only once a year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you are home. Get some rest.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Karen, you best be resting..Lordy I know you were thinking if your hubby. But what a dangerous thing to have done..how would he have felt going and coming home to find you had passed away??? Like Judy does, shaking my finger at you...how are you feeling today?

Lindakay, you feeling ok?

"m" starting to fret big time about you, not like you not to post...sure hope all is ok
Will give you a call as we are all worried..

Company must have tired me out, slept until 8am, nice for a change..did have a few wakes during the night biput dozed right back into slumber. As I lay there thinking about getting up you could hear the wind howling, hated to look outside fearing we got the snow storm they were calling for, but no signs of snow

Decided to sew aunt Muriel's rag quilt together, drats, short 3 white blocks, guess it's a drive to midland to see if they've white flannel Grrr

Just looked outside, mdrats the storm is starting to move in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

I am doing better. I do pretty good during the day, but about 5 or so, I start getting congested, and start coughing.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I had granddaughter across the street checking on me and I can always call my heroes at the fire station , less than a mile away.
I feel fine today, going to get cleaned up and go through sewing stuff to find something to work on. best therapy for me..

Coughs seem to do that Linda, I always got worse in the evening too. Maybe that damper evening air.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

I got up at 4:30 when DH left....and he said "where is my snowbrush?" Egaaads Everything was white out there. But I went back to bed and most of it was gone when I got up.

Karen, if you are like me,, I'd opt for a visit from the firemen! BUT not in this town. Have seen them and I'll pass! haha When I went to NYCity...I swear they all looked like calendar material or the TV shows. Must be a requirement. Feel better and do not over do it. (Like Betty does!)

Decided what i need is a trip to Hobby Lobby or similar to finish this bathroom. I have the curtains ordered and will be here tomorrow....I hope. Also thinking the Hamburg Craft fair is next weekend and they might have what I need also.

LindaKay...did they give you the pneumovax injection along with a flu shot? It helped me SO much! There is a regular prevnar that covers 17 strains....and a pneumovax that covers additional 23. I had both. Go back November 1st for the flu shot.

Stay warm all....going for coffee

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big sigh, going to miss the Hamburg Craft show Debbie and the Markham craft show here when I go stateside on the 18th..are you looking for decor of any special color?
Looks pretty out there but brrrrr, best we get used to it right? Poor Paul having to drive in it..with his operation will he be off winter months?

Verona, ON

Oh Betty I don't think you will miss anything at the Markham show. Lots of offshore crap. That is really too bad as it used to be such a highly juried show when we did it.

Well it is snowing here with a titch of freezing rain in it. Chaos just came in and his back and head were totally white.

Channeled our Betty this morning and got a lot done outside. Got the recycle up to the road plus did some more leaf blowing. Moved enough wood into the house for 2 days so will start the wood stove soon. Started a refresher course for Diesel on how to carry blocks of wood into the house. He needs to do his share.

Went to pick up the Lyme Rx for Duke. His count was down by half so I don't feel like am I blowing money into the wind. Diesel's count is down into double digits now. Woo hoo.

Judy I had to throw out the last of the ropes you sent the TH in the Santa Warren exchange. They loved them and played with them daily.

The TH also still plays with part of a pet toy that our Mary had sent them. They destroyed part of the Kong but there was an oval ball left. They all toss it around but Duke really enjoys it.

M come out, come out wherever you are... we miss you.
Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No flu shots yet, probably when I go in for my follow up on the 2nd.

Sounds like I will have to pack warmer clothes when I go to Michigan on the 5th. I am going to be there for one week. Sister already has me scheduled to keep busy going to see different family and friends.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

You know MI Linda, could be 80 by the time you get here...yeah really.....Bundle up.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have heard the expression many times, don't like the weather, wait a minute! :)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

nope - I'm here - babying my mouth. Had a tooth extraction yesterday.............

Verona, ON

Boo and a hiss Susan. I know how your mouth is feeling.

Well the snow is sticking. Chaos is NOT impressed with it at all.

I get both the flu and the pneumonia shots. I have a predisposition to bronchitis so they like to cover all the bases.

Oh Linda I am so glad you are going 'north' to see your family.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ouch Susan..do they think they can get all the dental work done quickly for you? Whatever you do, do not go out in the cold and catch a draft in the fresh socket, that is beyond painful

I never get the flu shot or pneumonia shot but think I will ask for one when I go on the 10th

Linda play, a, sure weather will warm up for your visit, although even if it's warm in the area you are visiting it will not be the warmth you have this time of year..does your dad know you are coming? So wish we could have done frankenmuth again, was so much fun last time

Waiting for the gals to get here, am sure they will laugh as every Thursday last winter we had a snow storm, starting early this year..so glad I got my snow tires last week, has stopped snowing at the moment, am sure by morning it will be gone.

Greg dropped in and pick up his costume, hurrah, hurrah, no more costumes to make or look at..oh happy days

Called midland to see if the fabric shop had white flannel, no go, looked online at Walmart who have some pieces of fabric, inventory says they have flannel but out of white, could they be wrong, might take a run in the morning and see, end result 4 blocks short..big sigh, asked Rita and Janice to see if they had some, Janice said she doubted it, Rita said she had 9 square but she cut them into 8" and I need 8 1/2....not end of the world, means a trip to Barrie tomorrow

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It was actually quite beautiful out today - Sunny & warm. I was doing a bit of work on the chop saw for Bob - cutting 6" long pieces for him to attach to the trusses.
He finished the 2 gable ends, and the 11 trusses. He's attached one of the gable ends. Tomorrow he does the rest.
I've been taking T3s for my mouth pain, and it sure helps! Tomorrow - Rinsing!! Tonight I was able to eat a normal dinner, and boy it felt good! I've been afraid to scratch it with anything scratchy or get any spices in the cavity. At least I'm feeling better now - talking too much stretches the area, and hurts, so I'm trying not to, but wouldn't you know it - Today is my most talkative day lol
My sister Ruth called from my mom's room, and we three had a great chat! Mom's failing, but she's 97, so that's not surprising. However, it was sunny & warm in Winnipeg, so mom was out enjoying the sunshine, and smiling Ruth said "talking to two of her daughters" made her happy. Ruth's going to call each week when she visits, so I can talk to Mom. She doesn't answer her own phone, and can't hold one to her ear. I mentioned my phoning the office and them holding the phone to Mom's ear, but Ruth says it's better to have her know when Mom's up, etc.
My friend Pat (neighbour I met, from old Park, now here) called and we had a chat. She said we should get together and have a girl's day out, and go places together. I'm so happy to have a friend here to chum around with.
I called Karen and we had a lovely chat.
My daughter Michelle called and we did some catch up - she's taking a course on Women, and Genders (we talked about pink & blue collar jobs). During the day Michelle's a paralegal in a real estate office. She & her hubby are very busy people - active lives.
So you see........ today was the most chatting I've done on the phone in a long time..... had to beg off a few times because of my sore mouth, but gee it was nice to talk to everyone!! What a great day!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like a perfect day Susan!

SNOW... oh how I'm glad we don't yet!

At our staff meeting today it was announced that Title xix managers have the option of 4 10 instead of our 5 8s! YES a 4 day work week. I IMMEDIATELY told them I want the 4 10. It will be done on seniority so I doubt I'll have too much trouble getting Friday's off. We won't start it until the week of Nov 6th.

My poor Dad is STILL in the hospital, we'll see what tomorrow brings, we don't really seem any closer to answers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

morning
Brrrr, promises to get warmer today, still a winter wonderland outside.

Susan, great news on all counts, your feeling chatty and gabbing with your mom and sister, extraction not giving you mega pain (with help of drugs) and Bob getting so much done on the addition..you are blessed that Mother Nature is on your side re weather.

Pat, think from the sounds of it your dad should be hospitalized for much longer than a day or two...when I was hired by American Express in my early 20,s I was the 3rd employee hired in Canada for their newly opening of Space Bank which did worldwide hotel reservations using computers, mead to hire about 60 people and train them..office was to be open 24/7, after working with the government we got the ok to work 12 hour shifts..team 1 full time employees would work Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday 7 am to 7 pm with 2nd shift working 7pm to 7am..team 2 worked Thursday,Friday and Saturday doing same covering 24 hr period then partita era for Sunday shifts..there was hardly any absenteeism as any appointment could be made on days off..only drawback was because I was manager I had to work the standard week..I still smile as management said the company should have been called Pauze express, I hired about 20 relatives, thankfully they did wonders and moved into higher positions. Wether it's a Monday or a Friday it would be nice for you to do a 4 day work week

Off to Walmart, hoping that their computer showing inventorupy missed one pkg of white flannel. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

4 days a week sounds nice.

Keeping your dad in our prayers.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Four day weeks are great Pat. You will really enjoy having that day. I used to do that too. I would use the fifth day to do all the work needed at home as if I were working at work. Then the weekends were truly mine with no laundry, grocery shopping, dusting, etc. That was all done on Friday. Norm and I took weekend rides and had so much fun.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

All kinds of white flannel pre packaged at Walmart BUT white isn't white in all yardage, had a slight tinge of cream to it grrrr. So Barrie I will go

Trip to midland wasn't a total bust, got pop and chocolate bard for 120 kids, never get that many bids but I don't take chances, left overs go quick lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hi all ..
Sorry for being AWOL, but, since we got back I have had a blasted head/chest cold, and, with my compromised immune system, well, it is NOT easy to deal with.

As well, I came home to very sad/bad news re DGD .. she is really in a bad way .. caught up with the boyfriend and doing drugs, AND, selling !!!!!! We are reeling !
Poor Murray is just sick with worry, and I worry about him as well as Brooklyn, and, so it goes.

Today is apt #10 for Lorna and her new leg, still having fittings, NO new leg yet,

I also have my BFF to worry about, Jo's hubby Kendall had his L hip replaced on Oct.11, and, reacted to the interior stitches 6 days later ..

I will try to get on as I can, but, life is just a huge ball of hurt right now ..

HUGS all around

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you are back with us "M". We missed you.

So sorry to hear you are not doing well. I pray Lorna gets a proper fitting leg soon, she has been through so much!
Sending lots of prayers for your GD!

Oh "M" so know where you are coming from re Brooklyn, heart goes out to you...hurt is unbearable at times..I still worry about Noah although he seems to be doing better..likes his job and so on but keep waiting for the heavens to fall every time I see a police car or hear a siren..guess we don't get over such things. Sorry about your friend hubby, Lorna's leg and your being unwell

Hugs coming your way along with prayers for those in need

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ok gals, need help, I cleaned front closet then on to the stove..anyone have a good method of cleaning inside the glass panels without taking door off the stove and taking it apart?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good luck. If you figure it out, let us know.

Found this on youtube.

Thanks Barb, I love his dancing.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

He was extraordinary as was his wife. He is missed..... Loved how there was just a touch of "Dirty Dancing" in it.....

Verona, ON

Thanks Barb. I often watch that clip on youtube . Dirty Dancing has to be 1 of my favourite movies. I've read both of the books he and his wife wrote. Hard to believe he had a confidence problem when it came to his wife. He just couldn't believe a woman as wonderful as Lisa would love him. He pinched her bum the first time he saw her in his DM's dance studio. He really had to work to get a date with her after that.
Weather Liars were true to form - no sun as promised.
The heat from the wood stove is wonderful. I have a couple of windows open to help keep the heat tamped down so you don't have to wander around in your bathing suit.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now that is dancing..thanks for sharing

Sunshine here Dianne but on the cool side, Sooo wish I had wood burning stove

Went to Barrie and got my yard of white flannel, all for a few blocks, have extra just incase

Off to finish aunt Muriel's quilt, flannel should almost be dry

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Weatherman says high of 57 with a feel like 54 but can't see it happening..Lordy it's dark out there, keep thinking it's about 6am

Bought some spice pkgs yesterday that you add in slow cooker for beef stew and also chicken meal, I have neither stewing beef or chicken so a trip to foodland is in order...haven't seen these pkgs before..got them at lens mills, if delicious then I'll pick more up

Been up since 6, got aunt Muriel's rag quilt done, forgot about sewing around edging, did so but not without trouble, Missy decided she want moving.

Started to bring in wood for workshop project, must take time to price mail boxes and sizes, you know those that it doesn't matter on weight???

So goal for today is finish Lorraine's quilt, it's 1/2 quilted then tomorrow it's cutting the 10th annual Christmas craft workshop project..then commitments are over

Anxious to get my name for Santa Warren exchange..want to get a box together for shipping then all on dg is done for me

Lyndonville, NY

Betty have a close look. If from breast....get yourself on the phone and call doctor!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have appt on the 10th, Lordy my list keeps growing, usually you can't ask about tens of problems but will put this first

Betty I agree with Debbie. If that blood is from your breast either go to ER or call your doc. Don't let this slide.

Dull and gray here too Betty.

Did my running around in the village this morning so am looking forward to sitting by the fire and reading the TO Star and then a book.
