Morning

Well, the rain hath come, has been pouring since about 3am .. I woke up and immediately started thinking about the folks in the south and hurricane Matthew .. decided I may as well get up .. still haven't had the courage to look or listen to any weather reports from the south. A good friend lives in the Bahamas, and she signed off around 7pm last evening saying she and her family were hunkered down until the storm passed ..

Debbie, hope your DS is feeling better .. garlic will do that :-)
Sorry to hear about your shellfish allergy .. I love shrimp !

Dianne ... how are you doing in the knee dept ? I hope a bit better ..
Lorna feels the shot did not work :-( PLUS, the machine you see her riding on in the pic, is run with the right leg/foot .. so, her knee is totally engaged .. am hoping the pain will dissipate when she is off .. today is her last day .. in the rain !!

Lots to do to get ready for our Thanksgiving .. celebrating it on Sunday .. as well, stuff to accomplish before we head east.

TGIF !!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Same here Debra, no more shrimp for me. :(

"M", one more week for your trip? How are Lorna's parents doing?

74 here this morning, supposed to be 30% chance of rain.

Praying for all those in the path of Matthew.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sunshine again today, leaves I see from front window are now a bright yellow, with sun shinning on them they seem to be glowing..

Deb, we must have cross posted, didn't see your post..I'm with Susan, think the only time we have jury is for criminal cases..although I was chosen once, went to court and they asked us to wait outside, case was settled out of court so I didn't get to experience the judicial system...was interesting for you for sure and 2 days wasn't bad, imagine those who are there for months.

"m" I love the color..can just imagine the smile Lorna had..now she gets to relax til spring, is she considering going back? Now to count sleeps to your ROADTRIP..are you having family in for thanksgiving? Mom called last night, she hasn't been well so is going to stay home and go to Sharon's on Monday for her meal.

Dianne, Lordy you are quite the lady, herding cows..can't see myself doing that..guess they are mellow animals and no chance of charging? How are you feeling today, ok?? Bubble wrap coming your way

Debbie, hope you hear about your tests today, makes for a worrisome long weekend wondering what the results will be

Lindakay, went to get lounging jammies out this morning, like staying in them til I'm ready for town, looked at them and couldn't take a set out, they look so pretty

Susan, is bob now ready for the roof and close the room in..hope so, that way he can we working indoors out of inclement weather..get your finds yet? That would make for a great thanksgiving.

It's Columbus Day for all of you right?

Been watching the storm on cnn, kept me awake most of the night..see Jacksonville will get the worse of it..

Authorities took great care to warn residents along the cost, getting some saying it wasn't that bad, no need to have evacuated, had the storm killed hundreds same would have said more should have been done..give their head a shake.

Don't know about you but I think if you've been told to leave and don't, too bad so sad, shouldn't put reaps users at risk, mother losing their lives. More minds me when these idiots go ice fishing in the spring and so many lives at risk trying to get them off ice floats..think they now charge these people and make them pay the cost..do I sound mean?

Decided to put Greg/Jeff's costume aside until they are here and I can determine where the Bavarian should go, all made just need placement..will work on boys costumes, hope to do some sewing today between grocery shopping and tomorrow while turkey is cooking....

Had company yesterday afternoon then the girls came last night, put me a tad behind

So what is everyone doing on their long weekend
Was thinking of going to Barrie to do groceries today..a change

Verona, ON

I was stewing all night about Matthew so finally got up and turned on the news. Even the news for insominacs (sp) starts at 3am had instant up to date on everything evolving. From another forum we have 3 in Florida .....2 will bear the brunt of the storm.
Have to go and get blood taken before I have my next MRI.
Hope you are all well and safe. Need to get going so I can get near the front of the line up for blood draws.
Stay safe everyone.
D and her TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

DH is having blood work done too Dianne .. but, we can make an appointment online here .. we have 4 'LifeLab sites' ..

This whole hurricane mess is awful ..can't imagine it ..we get snow, and, are stuck for a day or 2, but, to lose everything and be looted to boot .. just awful!!!

Have the 'dizzies' today .. uggg .. second time in 2 months .. I am saying it's nerves .. just want it to go bye bye ..

LK .. how's Dylan doing ?

Susan .. how are you and Bob making out ..

Only 48F here ..brrrrr ..

Goin for a shower

Verona, ON

Glorious Fall day here. I love it! Chaos is having a blast chasing leaves. That boy sure makes me laugh.

Big changes with the new to us doctor. There should be 2 docs but a decision at the last minute makes us with only 1 doctor. I know the nurse - she is quite the character. I am very difficult to get blood from. and true to form it happened again today.

LK any news about Dylan? Love his name.

Susan I sure hope you. are having a day as nice as ours.

I was watching an update about this nasty weather to the south. The reporter was saying no vehicles on the roads and sure enough a truck was driving by her. You should have seen the reporter's face. It was a cop making sure there were no looters.

Buckhorn is this weekend Betty. I was thinking last night about how I would drive from home and Warren would meet me there after his school day was over. I tried to have the booth all set up so W could just come to the cabin and have a drink. We rented a furnished cabin on the lake so I could bring the dogs along. Guess who had the dogs ..... I didn't mind. I had 2 Samoyeds then and they put on a show for everybody.

Wonder how Sharon is making out ?
Sassy is letting me know she want something to eat so I best get her fed. She will just keep on getting louder and louder and won't stop until she is fed.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Started to close down the costume sewing room lol, need to focus on thanksgiving..
Just leaving for groceries..was thinking of making pies when I get home, rest can easily be done tomorrow..only think I will change is use canned pumpkin vs cooking pumpkins..

Decided I'll go to Barrie, driving and looking at the foliage is so relaxing

Never been to buckhorn craft show..should check out how far it would be for me to drive and see if it's on Sunday...these craft shows bring a lot of memories Dianne, nice to reminisce but at same time hard to do

Likely 'M' it is nerves, so much happening in your life..I'm with you, yes we have a few days we have to stay outside but we don't have the weather in the summer that Lindakay has and has to stay inside because of humidity and heat, not do we have to worry about such storms..think I'll keep our weather!

Can feel my head getting heavier, couch is saying it's ok to have a nap but that just can't happen so off to get myself organized and head to Barrie..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, I hope your knees are getting better.

Dylan is doing great. He loves his new diet. My son and daughter in law loves Bob Dylan so that is who they named him after.

Verona, ON

That is what I thought LK. Dylan is such a strong name. I am so glad little Dylan likes his new diet. I was reading an article today in the TO Star about allergies and what kids can take for lunch. It is getting crazy .... in 1 school no chocolate, another no apples and the list goes on and on.

Betty Buckhorn is for 3 days starting tomorrow. Although it is a juried show a lot of crap gets through.

No cows today... darn!
Dianne and her TH

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

So glad to hear Dylan is doing so good. Easier to get him on a proper diet while still young.
My oldest great is named Payton. Born in TN so of course after Peyton Manning..

Verona, ON

Love the name Peyton too. I taught a kid whose last name was Black. His father named him Jett. This is sorta sad story but I was the consultant called in... the twins were Pebbles and BamBam You can just imagine all the abuse these 2 kids received at school.
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Fortunately they can change it when they are of age.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is terrible Dianne..
Tired, want to go to bed but have to wait another 1/2 hr when pies come out of the oven..smells good in here, almost tempted to cut into a pumpkin pie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, started to watch cnn breaking news, oops, almost burnt 2 pies
Bed time, night night

Morning,

Pouring rain, won't get higher tha. 59 with a feel like 55. Brrr
Calling for it all day so there goes a few things the boys were going to do for me, oh well..

Finishing pies Then getting turkey into the oven

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..
Are you doing your Thanksgiving today Betty?
I am making an apple pie and a pumpkin only if Gord wants one .. there is still a slice left of one I made last Monday .
We'll do TGvng on Sunday ..

WHOA Dianne .. Pebbles and Bam Bam .. good grief !!! Poor kids ..
DGS has a classmate named 'Orange' ! When he came out for a visit with DS and DGS I just fluffed over it .. didn't exactly know how he liked to be addressed, asked Austin and he said .. 'Just call him Or' .. so, I did ..

Betty I have been looking at the long range forecast .. jeepers, looks like we'll be packing 2 sets of clothing :-(
I would settle for autumn duds, but, if it's going to be as warm as THEY are saying, I'll melt as the Parkers keep the heat turned up ..
Decisions, decisions ..

Karen, how are you feeling ?

Kind of odd not to hear from Susan ..

Cooking 'that recipe' in the crockpot with steak again .. sure worked well ..

Later

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, today is our thanksgiving..waiting for lemon to cool so I can get the meringue on them..never do well with coconut cream, liquids but they do say to refrigerate for 3-4 hrs..hope that Otis the trick or I'll be minus 1 pie..did 7' not the usual 10-12 as we will only be 8-10 of us. Have cranberries cooking, big smile Debbie, as I'm washing them, cooking them I'm thinking of all the work going into growing and harvesting them.

Hard to say what to wear "M" yesterday I had light clothes on, today I have to dress warmer..maybe bring clothing you can dress in layers.

Going to be in town for 8am..need roll of plastic incase boys can enclose back deck..that white stuff is a coming you know

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Morning all, I'm not feeling very good, pretty sure my hemoglobin is low. Dr. is on Vacation, will be back in office Monday so he will call me then. I knew he was going so tried to hang in there as I don't want to see anyone else. I'm OK till then, a bit hard to breathe and walk but not trying to do much.

Lyndonville, NY

Karen , I hope you feel better. That is nothing to mess around with you need tanked up!!!

M...I find short sleeve shirts and carrying button up sweater or cardigan can lighten the load a little. Easy to take off if you get hot! I just love the color of the new car. I think DD Has same model but hers is white.

Betty, wish I was there for some Lemon Pie. Sure sounds good. Yes, will always think of the cranberries a little differently now. Going to try and cook some down this year instead of buying the can.....will have one handy for in case the fire department shows. lol Enjoy the festivities.

Waving to all....have a blessed day
Debbie Who is watching the weather, cool and a storm is brewing

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Jeeze Karen .. I know all about the 'hard to breathe' that goes along with the low Hgb .. sure hope you can get in to see your doc on Monday, with a 'top up' on Tuesday.

Enjoy your day Betty ..
Layers is a good way to go, but, packing is a nightmare !
We had 2 snow squalls here yesterday .. shocked me a bit as we have had NO frost as of yet.

Doing laundry, hoping to hang it out on the line, depends on how my hands are in the cold ..

Best boogie ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Karen, maybe you should not wait till Monday and go to emerge..me thinks when you feel ok you do far too much..if you are having family for Columbus Day let them do all the work.

Debbie how is Shane? I've been doing really well re needing fire extinguisher..best I not talk to soon

Omg "M" snow/squalls?
I've been thinking snow as well, dropped in to Taylor Tires and ordered snow tires..they get put on next Saturday..then Kyle just dropped in and we were talking about snow tires, I asked when the snowmobile permit discount would be over, in a few weeks so I had him order his and his dad's..so without being out of the house for more than an hour I've spent my months budget.

Wondering where Susan is as well..wonder if she's had snow

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, I'll have a piece for you

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

YUM!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have to eat one for me too Betty. I allow myself a tiny sliver of my DDs pecan pie at Thanksgiving because it's the only one as good as my moms.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will eat your share

Got to be 100 in here, just opened windows to cool things down

Might not only be the oven working overtime but I just moved everything so craft room can be dining area for 12-14

Few who said they could come said they were coming, so glad I always cook for 20😛

Putting off cooking the rolls for a bit, Greg and Jeff usually eat them before dinner so will make that a last minute chore

Off outside to see if there any any die hard flowers left in the garden so I can put them on the tables.

Would be nice to have a nap but I'll keep busy ..might sew shoes in the costume legs
To keep me awake. Lol

Melanie called to see what she could bring..everything under control
Her dad is in the hospital rehab section for another 3-4 weeks, no use of his hand/arm..they think they got all the cancer but now dealing with stroke one he had right after the operation..we are thankful for that.

Verona, ON

Wet and dreary here.

Went out early and got the TH some treats. Stopped at my friend's whose DH just passed a month ago. Asked her to please bring 2 slices of white turkey so I could make a sandwich. She is very disappointed her DD is having ribs and the next day her xDIL is having ham. We decided we would have turkey day ourselves sometime this week.

Lots to be thankful for this year.
Dianne and her TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Waiting for pie#1 to come out of oven, then the squash for supper goes in ...MIGHT MAKE A PUMPKIN PIE TOMORROW..oops ..

A friend in Calgary says it did snow off n on there yesterday .. no BIG storms like Saskatchewan.
Cool and sunny here .. have gotten several things OFF the 'to do 'list, and, added more LoL

Hope you get your breast meat Dianne .. never heard of ribs for Thanksgiving ..

Barb .. was an article in our local paper about a place called Ashland NH .. seems a fella set up a voting booth in an outhouse ..kind of comical ..

Not too crazy about turkey, but I do enjoy a bit on Thanksgiving and maybe a sandwich or two after.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Having ham and turkey..must get my stove checked, turkey should have been ready an hour ago..no go. Shaking my head

Jeff is out closing in the back deck..that will be a big job done
Don't like it closed in but better to have it done early than me doing it when the snow comes

Tomorrow and Monday I will take my time and put things in storage, all the talk of you guys getting snow is making me antsy.

Dianne, she will love sharing a turkey dinner with you..forget which restaurants offer fully cooked meals. Even a breast would likely do

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, that pie!!! Should have begged when I was there for a lemon pie! haha

Shane is still congested, but not slowing down much. He is drinking lots of fluids and he loved the chicken soup I made him. I swear that garlic onion and broth helps the most.

Tomorrow DH and I might go to Letchworth State park. Big craft show there this weekend but it all depends on the weather. Two years ago I did the stairs down to the gorge....was so proud of myself. I know there is NO WAY I can do them right now. My right knee is near shot. Will go down easy but coming up will not work.

Betty, so happy the boys got the porch closed in for you. Do not over do it trekking back to the shed for storage!

Not like Susan to go this long without posting Hope she is Ok.
I had a soak in the tub and have the PJs on already.....Betty got me in this routine! lol

Have a good night all
Debbie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi - sorry I wasn't on here, on Thurs - spent 5 hours in Calgary, and 2 hours driving there & back. Got the cheque @ 11am (hooray!!) but it took until 4pm to get it deposited and funds in our pocket. Turns out that it would have been held for 2 weeks to verify it, OR we could pay $40 and get it certified and have funds right away. HOWEVER, they couldn't find the person to verify/certify it until about 3:30pm. We went back & forth between ours & the City's bank for 5 hours. And of course it's 1 hour drive each way, so didn't get home until after 6pm (had to wait in line for 1/2 hour at our bank to get to a sit-down teller - another person jumped the line).
Then yesterday we had a major snow storm and it's still snowing now. The weather won't clear up until Tuesday.
We went to Olds yesterday to get the balance of our reno material (and Bob returned today to add to it - insulation). It's being delivered on Tues!
The snow caused Major accidents in Calgary, and the highway between it and us had closures. Truck jackknifed, and another car flipped on it's top. We saw an SUV on it's roof with no one around on the highway near us - about 10 miles from home. We're taking the day to relax. This makes 3 days in a row that Bob can't work on our place BUT, he needs the rest.
We don't have the roof on, nor the doors or windows, but it's all good.

We'll have to do something special for Monday - Thanksgiving Day & our 18th anniversary. We got a couple of turkeys - one for Monday, and one just because.

I'm keeping busy knitting fingerless gloves for the church sale.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, long day, tired but a nice tired..we had so many laughs
I especially loved to see Noah smiling and laughing..apparently he came to visit last Sunday but grandma and Debbie were road running.

I'm thrilled to have the back deck enclosed, ready for snow..Jeff worked 4 hrs on it.
He and Greg brought one,of the cement bench tops and legs and set them up on back deck, Now I get from time to time start adding glass and glass bobbles to it..it will be a Xmas gift for Paul.

They were going to take the top off the gazebo but I said no, it had rained part of the day, had I taken it off and stored while wet that would be it for the top as it would be molded.

Not a won had room for pie so each took theirs home..

Before Mel left I had her cut a slice of apple pie, sitting here with a coffee eating It.

Will be back early morning to read your posts, right now I need bed

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Frost last night .. and -1C, about 30F .. so, there will be frost ..

Good to hear from you Susan .. we all get to worrying ..

Debbie, good to hear DS is mobile, have fun if you go to the Craft Show ..

Betty .. good to hear the Gazebo got looked after .. am hoping DS will come out and help his Dad with a few things while I am away .. says he will ..

I am up to make dressing and a pumpkin pie ,altho, since Lorna and I are going into town for a bit the pumpkin pie may have to wait .. going to go and fill the car up .. just 2 more sleeps ! Gads .. I best get to packing !!!

Morning everyone.
Sounds like you had a wonderful thanksgiving Betty. Sorry to hear about Melanie's dad not doing well.
"M" sounds like you are busy getting ready for your trip.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, well almost afternoon isn't it..

Been busy getting house in order, just need to vacuum, downstairs is almost back to a sewing room then I will have a rest..now that thanksgiving is over l'll make a few trips to the back shed and get some Halloween decorations out.

Only 2 more sleeps "M" bet you are both getting excited..how long has it been since you've been this way driving..know you flew here a few times with Gord but driving is a lot different. Yes, turkey was ok just seemed to me should have been ready sooner than I thought, glad I allowed more time.

Lindakay, Greg and Mel just left for Toronto to visit with her dad..they will pick up her mom on the way..mel says her dad is being positive so that will help his recovery.

Debbie glad Shane is better

Susan,my lad you got your $$$ p, less stress having paid those who helped you out..now will Bob try weather permitting to get roof and windows in so he can work at finishing inside once bad weather sets in?

Karen, how are you feeling?

Deb, how are things going your way? Do you have living where you are a lot of winterizing to do?

Jeff said because I felt the need to prepare for being aged he now knows what to get me for Christmas, I asked what,ma life alert system so I can just hit the medi alert button should I need it..brat he is

Photo of the cement bench I'm doing mosaic on..next time I go to town I'll purchase sylicone to start it.

Getting comfy on the couch watching cnn, best I get up or I will what energy I have left and spend day just snoozing lol

Recovering a bit today. Yesterday was my DD's 29th birthday, and she wanted to go to the zoo! My son and DGD came along. It was a long day, and I did way too much walking, knees are complaining a bit today! I haven't been to a zoo since my kids were young!

As far as winterizing, I'll have to put up the storm windows, but that's about it. I'll wait, probably another month to do that, because once they're up, there is no opening windows for fresh air. We'll still have some days in the 70's and I don't mind it if the house is a bit cool at night.

Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been awhile since I've been to the zoo as well..now that was a lot of walking for sure, hard to keep up with the young ones. Hope once you rest the next few days you will bo ok.

I keep thinking Deb you get snow about same time as we do, don't you wait too long or you will be freezing your hands in doing them.

Drats, still on the couch
Ok like it or not I'm getting up

Victoria Harbour, ON

Better ell Jeff I need that medic alert after all
Went to back shed to get Halloween decoration, foot got caught in something, fell back on push mover, sat for 5 before I felt I was ok to move..sore but nothing broken
Guess it was meant to be, a day on the couch

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, please be careful! Hoping after some rest you will be ok.
