Morning all,
On the cold side
Debbie must be tired after her long trip, she is still asleep
Omg I got spoilt big time, got a few swap boxes that Debbie had for me from various swaps, was fun opening them
Lindakay, I'm all set to look pretty at bedtime, just love the pj's you sent
Thank you thank you
Then Debbie brought me a gift, one to keep me out of jail for indecent exposure..vs wearing a towel when outside she brought me a lovely robe, it's so soft and cudly
Think Debbie and I best look for heavy clothes, minds up and it's a brrr kind of day
"M" you will be aching today
How many more sleeps before you head our way. Lol

LOVE the pressies .. you are set for lounging and sleeping :-)
Hope you and Debbie have a super day ..
Hmmm .. sleeps would be ...... I think 11 .. we leave bright and early the 11th.
Just took care of yet more 'to do' stuff ..Lorna got her teeth cleaned yesterday, AND a haircut .. so,several things are OFF the 'list' ..
Just am having fits about how we will pack all the 'stuff' ..
Betty or anyone chime in ... I guess the glue on one of the pieces we bought for a wedding gift wasn't quite set .. a piece of the Amethyst came unglued :-(
Any idea what I should use to glue it back, PERMANENTLY .. if I get a chance I'll take a pic ..have all kinds of glue, but,DH wanted me to ask the crafters ..
Lazy day .. just catching up on some R&R .. LoL
TTFN
~M~
Go to the craft section of a store where they sell jewelry and beads. They sell a glue for jewelry and beads. Almost like a super glue.
Good advice for M LK.
This is weird I have lost half of my post.
Had a lazy day too M. The pups are too. Chuckled about Zoey.
Explained about the black moon tonight. It is a very rare occurance..
Later everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Girls and I always use e8000 I believe it is, Canadian tire sells it and some walmarts in smaller tubes..clear..am sure it's the best out there
We are just heading out, I've a list of to do's and we are going for Chinese
Tomorrow is Meaford and third sips day a drive to bala, port carling/gravenhurst
Not so sure we will see color though but hoping
Drats, wrote that post earlier, forgot to press send
Back home for the evening, early night because we will be leaving early morning
Enjoy your day tomorrow Betty & Debbie :-)
I have all sorts of glues .. crazy, Gorilla, contact ..guess I just want it stuck WELL ..
Early bed for me as well .. seems folks in the house are commenting that someone has a birthday coming up .. that 'someone'(me) is NOT a BDay party celebrator .. I know,I know .. go along with it .. uggggggg
TOODLES
~M~
Yep someone's birthday Monday, think her name starts with "m"
Just headed to bed
Hi everyone - sorry I missed posting yesterday, after my Dr visit - was a bit shell-shocked.
Yesterday I saw my knee surgeon, and he is setting me up to have my right knee replaced first (likely in Jan) and boy did he scare me with all the cautions....... I'll have to lose more weight (lost 30 lbs so far). Things that can go wrong are very scary. I won't go into them, but suffice to say that I had better get all my teeth fixed and have NO infection in my system, and will need to have my heart & lungs checked out prior to surgery or they won't do anything.
Bob's a really wiry & strong fella. He surprises people in their 20s & 30s and older, with what he can do. He's setting the main outside wall to put in 2 side lights and a window. He's also making the structure strong enough to put my wall-mounted sewing machine table on it (folds out to 6ft and holds my sewing machine in a cabinet - can be pretty heavy!)
I was outside with Bob, using the chop saw to cut some pieces he needs for the wall - spacers/braces.
We went to a hardware store, and are looking at replacing the bathtub with a soaker tub (34" deep? wow) that has a light at the top. WOW!
I like luxury in the tub. I'm not a shower person.
Time to go make dinner for my honey - I'm so impressed with him. I've seen his work before, and know what he can do, but it's been awhile, and I'm re-impressed lol
Susan, that is standard procedure when one is having any type of surgery like hip or knee replacement. I had to have all those pre test too. My dentist here, told me I had a cavity, and it would have cost me $2500.00 here in Texas. I went across the border, and had the same root canal with crown done for $800.00. They just need to make sure you have no other infections or health problems before they do surgery.
Good morning :-)
Susan .. echoing LK .. the surgery is nothing compared to what you go through before hand.
You get a physical unlike any you have had before .. and, after, when you go to even the hygienist for a cleaning, you MUST take an antibiotic prior to the treatment .. for 3 years (before each procedure)
Just personal preference here, but, you may want a 'tub/shower' unit .. getting out of a tub after a replacement is pretty darned owie ..
Furnace is running, only 42F .. but, we'll creep up to 70 again today ..
Not sure what's up .. DH just left for the market .. Lorna is asleep .. as are the dogs ..
Guess I'll play Scrabble :-)
Enjoy your day
~M~
LK you hit the nail on the head with what you can or can't do after the surgery. Yes as M said you must take an antibiotic before a dental visit.. I still have to take the antibiotic after all this time. The doc who did my replacement had a patient die 3 weeks after the actual operation so he insists his patients to take warafin for over a month.
House feels damp but we haven't had rain. It's because the lake is so close to the house.
Dianne and her TH
Taking antibiotic now, for my sty. Dr told me that if I wasn't careful about infection, I could lose my leg or life. Real scary stuff that he went through....Here I was thinking that because so many people have replacements that it was pretty standard, but now I'm plenty scared.
No need to be scared. Just need to be careful with infections.
Bang on LK
Plus, you have to remember, it's NOT the natural you anymore .. some things you used to do just don't happen.
With me,it's bending down to the floor .. I find my balance is a bit off .. and, no more walking a mile or more a day either ...my hip just does not like that .. but .. I have NO PAIN :-)
~M~
Thank you, ladies. I'm hoping I'll be able to bowl again......
Evening all
Quite a day, needless to say Debbie and I can barely move..lots of pretties came home with me, will take photo's tomorrow
Great chat re hip/knee operations..remember how worried you were "M" but now thankful you had it done
Susan, just like commercials on tv they tell you the worse that can happen taking them, guess doc has to do same giving you various scenarios ..not to worry
Just had bath, Debbie having hers then off to bed
Tomorrow we are going to Barrie, cranberry marsh then back for a tour of ss Keewatin ..another full day
Betty - I guess........ still the idea of infection, and having a leg amputated really gave me the jitters......
I have to get my teeth all taken care of, and a letter from the dentist affirming this. That could be very costly. I"m looking into dentists & costs on Monday.
BRrrrrrrrrrrrr .. good morning ..
Just had the dogs out .. happily a skunk was on the OTHER side of the fence and headed AWAY from their enclosure .. it's about40F here .. and the 2 Hibiscus plants are blooming away !?! DH has taken good care of them over the summer guess it worked :-)
Betty, I hope you and Debbie have a stellar day ! Remember that I was on the Keewatin many years ago as a child ... it went from one side of TBay to the other, slow enough to afford the passengers a lovely lunch and the time to look at the beautiful decorating inside the ship .. gorgeous !!!
Susan .. could you not go to the Dental School at one of the Universities in Calgary? I know that the hygienist students at our local College do cleanings for a lower cost.
Celebrating my BDay today .. trying not to be a grump
~M~
Happy Birthday, Marilynne!!!!!!! Hope you have a non-grumpy day!!! You deserve non-grumpy :-) Have as "sweet" as you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Olds college doesn't have a dental college, but I'll try in Calgary! Great idea!!! :-D

Thanks for the greeting Susan .. you're a sweetie ..
Got WAAAAAAAYYYyyyyyy too many 'pressies' and, there in lies the rub with me .. I am a GIVER and a VERY poor receiver ..
But I tried to be patient and thankful .. just waiting for DH to go and pick up the Chinese Food ..
Well .. I finally got the E6000 glue and fixed the wedding gift today .. has to sit and cure for 24 hours ..
Have a pic .. Lorna's is a different theme, and, a bit bigger.
Best get the table set ..
~M~
Glad to hear you had lots of pressies for your birthday.
I love that amethyst piece.
I am so sorry to let you know that Sharon Brown has passed away. Her daughter has posted on facebook that she will keep us posted with arrangements. She was such an influence on so many of us. Her writing talent and art were just wonderful.....
Looks like fun Betty .. squishy ?
Do they sell the cranberries ?
Betty .. where did you purchase the 'clothing squisher' you use when you pack .. vacuum packer thing ..
I thing I may invest !
The S word is on the weather forecast for this coming weekend :-(
Just waiting for DS to come for coffee ..DH has already gone for his physio for his hand .. want to clean out my car later ..
Enjoy your day
~M~
Morning everyone.
Happy birthday "M". I hope you have a fantastic day!
https://www.walmart.com/c/kp/vacuum-storage-bags
Walmart has the bags.
Happy birthday "M", nice that you got to celebrate on the weekend when everyone was about..have to go back and read all about your day..you just had the utter the s word didn't you. Lol no different than I, was going remind up you all Christmas is 12 weeks away😜
I buy the space bags at walmRt as Lindakay says, I bought a small pump from Canadian tire, less than $20 to take on the road with me to suck up the air..when using the bags at home I use the vacuum. Got to say, well worth the investment and at home great way to store summer clothing and extra blankets etc.
Debbie just left, she may stop at Niagara Falls Canadian side for photo shoot, means she would be home mid afternoon.
Although the weather was the pitz we managed to do and see a lot
No not squishy "M"..they have hundreds of acres if not more of marshland, when ready to harvest they flood area, machinery that have fork like hands rake the fields, cranberries come to surface and are picked in vats then transported to main building for sorting..those kept aside are made into wine..big facility, tourists from all over the world come and see muskoka and the cranberry marsh..they have a cottage set up with local art, candles of course made are cramberry scent, dried cranberries and the likes for cooking.
Bit of housework this a.m./washing/few calls (not happy with acorn chairlift letter I received) then it's costume making time
Trying to find a suitable day for having everyone over for thanksgiving, not easy..Mel's dad had operation last week for cancer, he has one of the rarest blood disorders one can have, they got him through it but seems he had a stroke so Mel and family have been spending mega time in Toronto so it all depends on his status wether or not Mel/Greg will be around
Best I get a move on
Marilynne - my mom always said it was difficult, but that we had to learn how to receive graciously - I'm sure you did well. Glad to hear you had a good day. That amethyst is beautiful!
Betty - interesting "bit" on cranberries - I did not know that they weren't hand picked! My dad always said "low bush cranberries are the best". Dunno why.
Here's what Bob has so far.- actually, no - he has a further 10 ft piece of wall, and now only needs to put the last 4ft on the 24 ft side, and of course the sheeting. Next, it's the last 10 ft wall, then the ceiling. He cleared a spot on the site for the large shed we bought from the guy down the street and we can store a LOT in it.
I'm still losing weight (hooray!) and feeling better.
That "s" word is expected this Friday...... siiiiiiigh...
Monday the 10th is our 18th Anniversary - on Thanksgiving Day. Guess we won't have our annual dinner this year with our friends..... oh well, no room at the moment. Maybe for Christmas.......
Wow Susan Bob sure is a working machine..glad you continue to shed the pounds, will help big time re medical issues...I must go back to being careful what food I'm eating and when, gained a lot of what I lost back on.
Karen, you resting today? How are the renovations going?
Lindakay, no issues with Dylan?
Had to smile to myself, what took me but a few hours before took me all morning but did get vacuuming done, washed all the floors, did wash, cleaned washroom and now I'm sitting for a few minutes then downstairs I go..still trying to decide HOW I'll make Greg/Jeff's costumes..ask Debbie, we drove past Greg yesterday, stopped to chat, said he showed someone photo and they thought it was way to cool. Lol he was grinning from ear to ear so best I don't disappoint him..these kids think I'm able to do everything, maybe it's time they find out I cannot!!
Betty - I'm on the HAM diet (half as much lol)
Happy Birthday, M!! Hope you have a great day!!
Happy Birthday M !!! Wishing you peace, good health, love and happiness.
Hugs from the TH and myself.
Betty, I'm mostly resting today, I know my blood is low so not much energy. I had an eye appointment this morning at 8:30...what in the world was I thinking? Came home and napped for a couple hours. I have another blood draw for the end of next week but think I will go early. No sense putting off the inevitable and I'd just as soon get feeling better sooner.
I know I way overdid on the week-end but just couldn't disappoint DGD Amanda. When the grands were younger, I used to take them for Birthday lunches at Hudson's, a special affair. They could order what they wanted and I always had my favorite Maurice Salad. Hudsons is long gone, bought by Fields and then Macy's, but the restaurant was smart enough to keep the Maurice Salad on the menu. Amanda asked if I could make it for the reception and of course I said yes. The recipe came available a while back on FB along with their equally famous Popovers. (thank goodness she didn't ask for those). The recipe says it makes 6 generous servings so I figured it was enough for 10 at least. I expanded it out to enough for 150 even though we were expecting more. I did get rave reviews and extra hugs from DGD so it was a success.
Thanks for the birthday wishes ..I am in heaven here .. Murray came with flowers and cookies and hugs and kisses and stayed not only for coffee, but for lunch too ..
Brooklyn is back to he tricks, she again left home today, but, Murray thinks she has broken up with the boyfriend .. I can tell this is really bothering him ..
Karen, I'll have to look up the Maurice Salad :-)
Glad you had a good time at the wedding.
Betty .. you're a busy bee :-)
Mayhaps the costumes he saw were done from a theatrical production .. I know a young lady from here who does that type of thing in LA .. I think she worked on Phantom of the Opera
Off to shower and tidy ..
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO .. Lorna's leg came apart this morning as she was getting ready for work !!! We got the Allyn keys out and she got it back together .. but .. I am so worried about this trip now .. I have contacted Kerry and he will see her Friday morning .. fingers crossed !!!
~M~
omgoodness! her leg came apart, and it's new? I can't believe how delicate they are!!
Here's the recipe Marilynne: Now in the restaurant It was served pretty with the lettuce also in strips and then all the toppings arranged prettily on top and the dressing on the side. I made it as a tossed salad with dressing mixed in at the last minute for the reception and it was just as good.
http://www.freep.com/story/life/food/2014/07/24/test-kitchen-daily-recipe-maurice-salad-just-like-hud/28936103/
Of course I liked the salad best when served with popovers another specialty of Hudson's.
http://blogs.wayne.edu/cavalcade/2011/cavalcade-of-food-popovers-ala-j-l-hudsons-make-it-fancy/
How wonderful that Murray dropped in "M" sure made your day..maybe now he understands the hurt a child can do to his/her parent.
Never heard if the ham diet Susan
Karen you never cease to amaze me, all you do even when you are not up to it.
Thought I would see a post from Debbie saying she is home without mishap, started to get worried, she promised to post minute she got home.
Housework until noon, had project in line to do this afternoon but had company, just looked at the clock, think I'm too tired to start heads of the dummy this late in the day, maybe an early night and I will get up early and put in a good day tomorrow.
Did make two sets of hands though
HAM diet = "Half As Much"....... not a specific diet, Betty
Lol Susan, for sure I will try that one
Debbie did make it home ok, she phoned but guess I was on the line and didn't realized I had a voice mail..
Now she knows the route there is no need for her to wait so long for another visit.
"m" still shaking my head re Lorna's leg..could you bring the old one as a back up?
