Lyndonville, NY

Betty, what dates are you looking for me to be there for the festival and that?

I go Friday for the scans. My only problem, which I am working on, is I watch 2 boys after school. Ages 6 & 12. DS can watch them if I come up and he doesn't have a job as yet. They are his friends children, and he is really good with them so.....just depending on the dates and Friday appointment results.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Update from Heather.
NO FREAKING CANCER!!!!!! We're narrowed down to Celiac Disease or Crohn's or severe food allergy. So more blood tests, stool sample, and seeing if he can keep down food.

Lyndonville, NY

I am sure C-diff is one of the first things they tested for?

So happy is not cancer. I am sure they will have Mom & Dad keep a journal
on what was eaten, and the outcome after eating the meal. I did that for years
with DD. Allergic to some of the proteins in milk....not milk itself. SO is hard to
pick out. She can have lactaid.....fat free. Its in the fat that caused the problem.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They have been testing for so many possibilities. They have been told it was not c dif, or cancer, so far.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - I'll pray for your scans to be clear.

Bob's working really hard on the deck.
Just had a visit from the Lutheran pastor - lovely man. At 2pm I have a visit set with the minister from our congregation, Rev Jeannie. Looking forward to that :D

Oh LK so happy to see Dylan doesn't have cancer. Continuing to send prayers and positive thoughts.

Had a rough go at the dentist this morning. But on the bright side I don't have any teeth left to pull. I will be fitted for a partial plate Nov.2. It takes me quite awhile to heal. I swear Doc was pulling my jaw bone up not just the root.He found an abscess on 1 of the roots. I just can't catch a break with my teeth.

Susan it sounds like things are moving right along for you. You and Bob will have a great big sigh of relief once you are finished.

Dianne and her TH

Same weather as Betty here.

Debbie, the show is on Saturday October 1st so if you came a day or so before and left Monday/Tuesday then you would only have to find sitter for a couple of days..would be a nice visit, you could up unwind and get spoilt..lol

Well, have bread pudding made for tonight at the Battens, need to pick up toppings for it..still need to get dressed, head out around 4:30..won't be a late night though

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He has to have more lab work done, and was told he has to go 24 hours with vomiting or diarrhea. So probably a few more days.

Dianne, I hope your mouth heals quickly.

Hooray, LK!! SO happy it's not cancer, or Celiac Disease or Crohn's or severe food allergy!!!!!!!! Now that we know what it ISN'T, it's time for them to figure out what it IS!!

The City says they'll pay us funds in 5 days! So, presuming that Matt checks out the place today, I figure we'll get our funds next Thurs?
And HOORAY! Our lumber has been released!! We'll have the funds to rent a truck to bring it here, but they need a credit card (which we've told them we don't have) and they're trying to figure out a way around that..... they won't deliver it, so we have to pick up the van with lumber and return the van afterwards. And of course we don't have many funds to fill up 2 vehicles with gas (ours to Calgary and return, and Lowes' van has to be refilled afterwards). We have the $20 to rent the van (they owe us a refund of $49, so that's fine).
Bob's JUST at the point where he's ready to use the lumber, to build the floor of the den. He has the deck support, etc. Time to move on to the lumber we're getting.....

Back in TN for DGD wedding Sat. Her older sister was badly bitten by a dog that came into a friend yard. He bit the back of her leg a couple times and then her hand. Hand required stitches. Animal control went to owners house and although they were petting dog and called it by name, they denied it was theirs. It was taken away, it has bitten before, and will be quarantined. Officer said he has had dealings with these people before Sadly the dog will pay the price of bad owners. Dr had her come back today for further evaluation to make sure there was no nerve damage. Fortunately there isn't.

Meanwhile remodeling is going on at our house. What's done so far looks great. DGS is staying to care for our critters and is also earning a bit by helping our contractor. DGS who lives up there is also in TN as it's sister who is getting married. Also found out, new baby coming is a girl. Amelia has named her Gabriella, and is calling her Gabby already.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Nice to hear you're in TN safe and sound Karen .. feel bad about your older DGD and the dog bites, feel bad for the dog as well .. shameful people (the owners) ..

Good luck with all your plans Susan ..

Will be outta here earlyish to get to the hairdresser ... found a pic online for her to follow .. fingers crossed .
Lunch with Jo following ..

enjoy your day everyone :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow! So sorry that happened Karen. I pray her injuries will heal quickly.

Susan, I pray your funds come through as promised.

"M", I hope you get the haircut you want. I always hate getting a haircut by a new person.

Betty, are you sleeping in today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, yikes almost lunch
76 with a feels like 91..sunshine, not sure when rail will come but they are still calling for some.

"m" hooe you live you 'do' using new hairdresser can go both ways but with photo I'm sure the outcome will be the do you wanted.

Lindakay, Dylan's parents must be exhaustedhaving spent every minute with him so he's not frightened..good news today?

Karen that is terrible re dog..oh oh sunshine for the wedding? Is it likely most of reno's will be done for when you get home

Wonder how Deb is doing?

Susan, keeping fingers crossed you get funds

No sleeping in for me, headed downstairs with coffee in hand,me anted to organize myself as a couple of girls are coming over to sew tonight, looks like tornado went through my craft room

Mom just called, although she sounds dreadful she says she is fine to go to Buffalo so we will see what tomorrow brings..doesn't believe aunt Muriel will go

see Joanns has great sales on, thinking if mom does go I might make a quick trip over Saturday morning, urgently in need of batting

Break over, time to get out of nighty then head back downstairs

What are the rest of you doing today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, did your Mom ever get her test results?

No test results yet. Still waiting.

Waiting is hard on the nerves

Was doing appliqué downstairs and all of a sudden it got dark so came upstairs, raining like crazy and some boom bangs going on

Her doctor told her there are a few nodules, most November he said there was shading on lung,he told her he would leave it, growing slowly rather than do biopsy but she is not happy with that so who knows what she will do

One thing she is doing though is getting rid of some of her treasure
Guess where her royal dalton's are going..she will keep some in her China cainet to enjoy and I'm to take her cabinet and pieces home when something happens..in the meanwhile she has 5 or 6 for Sharon, rest I'll take home if I go to Buffalo tomorrow when I return home

Gave me several diamond rings and Sharon a few

She is not being positive at all, told her again today that it takes as much energy to be positive as it does to be negative but told me being positive is not in her nature but she is positive of one thing, the lung must be cancerous. Big sigh

Hoping to shortly have all appliqué done on Halloween throw, would like to sew blocks together this afternoon before the girls come to sew tonight

I am so upset, Hospital just called an cancelled my CT Scan for tomorrow.
The insurance company has not approved the scans yet and it has been 2 weeks!
Still haven't approved sleep study either....thats been a month!

Yes, giving a call....but its making me crazy.
Knowing what they are looking for, and now making me wait
is inhumane!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So sorry Debbie, after waiting so long and now they cancel..sure hope you can reach them, give them the what for..maybe if you call now they just might get it approved in time for your appointment. Drats and more Drats, want to say something else but would get kicked on this thread😖

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Insurance companies are so hard to work for. Workers comp, is just as bad.

Dylan Update:
His labs show that he has almost zero IGA antibodies. These antibodies are what fight off intestinal and respiratory infections and most people are born with them. Dylan was not. This would explain why he is so susceptible to infections and why they require hospitalizations every time. As of right now, no Celiac Disease was found. They are unsure about the Crohn's still. We have an upper GI in the morning to check and see if an obstruction was caused during the Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. After we see the results, we will discuss placing a PICC line and starting TPN because Dylan is losing so much weight. They have not given an expected date of going home. Tonight marks 7 days.

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Linda Kay, this is exactly what I am dealing with!! Low IGA and IGM and IGG is low in the bucket. Myself and two of the kids have Hypogammaglobulinemia. Primary Immune system deficiency. Here is a start to people and organizations that might be able to help. http://www.info4pi.org/hq

Also, Talk to the docs about him getting pneumococcal vaccines. There are two of them. One covers more antibodies than the other....but boost the entire immune system.
Once the kids got those....no more ear or bronchial infections. It sure helped!! I get my shots every 2 years.

Betty, I gave them what for.....was a sweet heart at first, then lost my cool after 20 minutes of it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the info Debbie, I will send her the link.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That poor child..how can. He get these IGA antibodies Lindakay, blood tranfusions? Sure doesn't sound like Dylan will be home any time soon. Sending prayers

Dianne, how are things going with the teeth, still on soup?
Diesel, is he improving?

Girls just left, sitting to relax for. Few minutes then it's off to bed..

Mom called, think it's a go for Buffalo tomorrow and aunt Muriel will also come with us..know I'll not be able to keep up with them

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't know if they can repair the antibodies or not. Lots of research and learning to do for sure.

Lyndonville, NY

Linda Kay most likely he will need what they call IVIG transfusions. My daughter had them for 5 years. They take many components of various blood donations, basically borrowing that persons immune system and infusing them into the patient.
it is no more painful than an IV line. It takes about 4 hours...depending on the size of the child. They will do it very slowly the first few times, and probably medicate with benedryl to prevent reactions.

He will need a very good Immunologist & Allergist.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Oh, LK........... the poor wee tyke........ losing weight, and he's not a big child to begin with!
Betty - we're assured of funds from the City, just not sure the exact amount or day. It should be sometime next week. Somewhere around $7k, but then we have $$ to pay back to people who helped us interim, and now a new roof ($3k for that.....) and of course we'll have to buy drywall, etc ..... lots going out, and hope that we'll have something "extra", even if it's only $1k after all is said and done.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Seems compromised immune systems are a sign of the times ..mine was OVER active which is why I am getting shots to tame it down, which now leaves me vulnerable to all sorts ..
BUT .. I am way older than Dylanand can handle what is dished out.
T&Ps continue ..

Betty, please enjoy, but, be careful on your Buffalo trip ..

Comforting prayers for Dylan this morning. And for his family too. Sounds like a long road ahead....
Safe travels Betty and please try not to overdo.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the info Debbie.

Susan, I hope you get all the funds you need and then some. What happened to your roof?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Great info Debbie provided Lindakay, can't imagine how worried you are right night..prayers coming your way

Susan did you get photo's of the lot in Calgary showing all has been cleared..do hope you have some $$ left over but just think, in your home for thanksgiving and Christmas and to top it off a new addition..wonderful isn't it.

Slept in, had calls to make and now I'm trying to decide on what to bring with me, summer/fall clothes?? Best I take fall, better to be warm than chilled.
missy is so trying to get outside, hoping to keep her in,don't want to let her out and she won't be here when I leave..Kyle will drop in from time to time..

Took some measurements of projects I need backing for, inventory of thread etc. My yearly travel insurance expired end of August so got a new policy, $166.86 ..allows me to travel up to 15 days in a row with a top up fee should I be longer, so that's been taken care of..lots to do even if I'm only going for a few days.

Think I'm well prepared.

Haven't heard from mom so imagine it's a go

Safe travels Betty.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Safe travels from me as well .. enjoy the bargains ..
We were going to go through the States one way or another, but, the Canadian dollar is just too weak.

Made a new recipe for banana bread .. has a cream cheese/egg/sugar mix baked in the middle ..waiting for DH to come home and try it .

LK .. hows Dylan doing ? As Debbie says, it'll be a long haul for all of them depending on what he is diagnosed with ..

Vacuum is sitting lookin at me .. best move it
Kinda worried about Dianne ...

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still no answers with Dylan. So far all the test are negative. No answers as to what is wrong, other than his low immune system.
Update from Heather.
We still have another x-ray to complete before we get our upper GI results but so far it's looking good and not showing a blockage. We are back on clear liquid diet and he is KEEPING IT DOWN so far!!!!!! If we can keep doing this, we get moved to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. If we hold that down, we go home!!!! Fingers crossed!!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Fingers crossed for sure LK ..

Guess Betty has headed south .. hope she takes it easy ..

Internet is kind of unstable tonight, so, I'll just say g'night ..

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Continuing prayers for Dylan. So glad to hear that he's holding down food! If it's Gluten & Lactose that's the problem (only) that is handle-able. I hope & pray this is so. Maybe it's one or the other, or both?

We got a pic from the Prop Mgr in Calgary (Matt) - lot not cleared, just sheds taken down. It's been a week, and keeps on - things not getting done. I told Matt to have the City guys take the debris - will cost us UP TO $500! Well, at least we will know it's done, and they'll take it on Monday. HOPING to get the cheque on Thurs when we're in Calgary & I go see my knee surgeon. Would not want to return on Friday. I told Matt that we have to be in the City then, and he's going to see if it can be taken care of on Wed's cheque run. I sent him an email asking if he knows approx how much we will be getting back. Has to be enough for us to pay rent here, buy things like drywall for addition, and other necessities.
Bot got the lumber from Lowes today, and he's on his way home from taking the delivery van back to Lowes. We got more of a refund from Lowe's than we expected - $97 instead of $49.
It's a bit of an extravagance, but Bob & I have to go to Olds anyway, to get groceries (almost out), and I told him we'd go for dinner too, Nothing much, and certainly not a steak dinner, but something, just to feel a bit better about the end of all this happening. At least Bob & I don't have to return to Calgary for anything other than Church or Dr's!! Oh, and to pick up our cheque......
Then, it's a new roof - I suspect it's been going for years, but it's time - we're having some leaking issues, more than we were before we moved last May 2015.
Not sure if we'll have anything left when all is said and done, but here's hoping.... I'm also hoping that Calgary doesn't charge us rent for the old lot in Sept, but I'm not holding our breath......

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Lots to catch up on. Prayers said for Dylan.

Made it home earlier this evening. Still have unpacking to do. It was a really nice trip, but I'm exhausted! No wins for Bonnie, well 3rd place on Thursday, but that was it. Got to meet up with some friends I haven't seen since last year's National show. Going to bed shortly. DGD's birthday is Sunday, and I have shopping to do tomorrow!!

Deb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dylan update!!! :)

We kept down protein!!!!!! Solid pieces of actual meat!!!!! He has also kept down 28 ounces of fluid. Ahhhhhh I'm so excited I cried and kind of peed. Of course we can't leave til tomorrow but I have a feeling we might actually be going home!!
Also, he is full of energy!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning .
GREAT news LK .. prayers said for more of the same in Dylan's recovery !

Susan .. find it difficult to even keep up with the intricacies of your move .. all I can do is wish you the best .

Deb, welcome home .. a third for Bonnie is not so bad .. at least she got something ..
Good luck shopping for your DGD :-)

Dogs are bed hogs, I was going to have a sleep in, but they had other ideas .. like plop on Mom's head, OR, snuggle down under the covers SPLAT against her and make her REALLY warm !!!

A few bits of this n that happening today, nothing earth shattering that's for sure :-)

Enjoy your Saturday

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
