Thanks for the new thread Betty. Please be careful with the storm coming in.
I hope you don't lose power, Betty!
Our tenants are not finished with us yet - and the comments to their postings are that other people think I have mental problems that need to be looked after. I can't even speak about it..

Good morning ..
Betty, if your storm was anything like the ones we have had, well, hang on .. my china was chattering with the BABOOMS!!
LoL Karen,'gully washer' is right .. it just poured here as well, no watering necessary for a bit YAY !!..
I have to say that Clara is a darling .. so precious.
Betty, Swiss Chalet is a favourite here .. often get take out .. but, like everything, starting to get pricey.
Glad you left Missy in .. her nose got a couple of good swipes.
Going to be our first garden salad from the garden today, only thing purchased are tomatoes, all the other components are from DH veggie patch .. cucumber, radish, lettuce and green onion :-)
Laundry on the go, best get going
Enjoy your day
~M~
Morning all,
It was indeed a dozen, lost internet but not hydro so that was ok..everything is so wet that my going out in the garden and weeding likely won't happen this morning, perhaps later in the day. Had to spend 15 minutes online with Rogers to get internet back up and running, girl apologized and said a lot were having difficult jugs, all is well now.
Decided as I cannot go out and work I will settle in for relaxing morning and get the Saskatchewan block done..my 'today' mission
Lucky you 'M' having salads from your own garden, nothing like a fresh salad, best I did this year is plant 2 tomatoe plants lol but they aren't doing well, maybe this rain will help. It was expensive at Swiss chalet, well maybe not, ordered half chicken, ($17) had supper and there is enough for lunch today providing Missy is outside and I don't have to share..
Susan, it will be the best thing for you to get to the new park and be away from the past, new start..was it a email they send you? If so, think you best block it and not pursipue $$ so that they don't know where to send it,not that they would, but then they would know where you are as to harass you further, just not worth it.
I'm up n limbo re Newfoundland trip, SUZANNE called last night and said she thought the motor on her vehicle is gone, mega $$ to repair, then LINDA is back from her trip today, worried about her hubby having Alzheimer's, she likely won't be able to go if that is the case sooooo???
What are you all up to today?
I would also block them and any further contact is through lawyer.
Hubby is meeting DS and DIL midway for kid exchange. We have one of theirs and they have Great GD. Meeting for lunch at a favorite traveling stop.
I'm going to finish quilting a tree skirt for DGD getting married in Sept. Actually quilting is done just adding a bit of machine embroidery where needed. Then binding and done.
$17.00 is quite pricey for half of a chicken. I sure hope your trip does not get cancelled.
Oh my goodness Karen you gave me a big smile on my face as well as a chuckle. The term gully washer is a term used by family. I Have never heard say it anywhere.else.
Gloomy day here. Heavy rain with lots of T and L.
BBL
Dianne
My family origins is West Virginia so I have quite a few picked up from my grandmother. Instead of I've an idea she used to say I've an idee, I was in a store once and heard a woman say it and told her..you're from WV aren't you? She was surprised and said how did you know?
One of our favorites was in GA once and we had come through a big storm. When we stopped, we asked the clerk if it had rained there. He said Rain...it come a flood. That's been one of our favs ever since.
lol "it come a flood" That's something I've heard on tv, but didn't realize it was geographical - that's great!
I heard gully washer from the same place - tv
"It come a flood" is about to happen here, getting darker/wind is up and you can feel it's close by..couple of birds a fluttering so they too must be on the lookout. Dianne, think "M" is sending us her bad weather...
Lindakay is your heat wave all but over for a bit?
Susan, has it been raining for the stampede?
Is hubby home yet Karen and did you finish the tree skirt?
Wonder how barb is making out with her projects?
Deb how long before you get results?
Sharon has Vern been behaving, eating meals?
Finished the last of my blocks , thrilled to have that behind me!
It's sure dark & raining now - Stampede started yesterday, with the Parade. Don't think it rained then. It's been sporadic. It didn't rain at all this morning, for the Pancake breakfast which we enjoyed outside. They served breakfast from 9am to 11am, and didn't rain for any of it. They did run out of food though! About half hour before the end. Had 1200 people last year, and ran out, but they popped over to the neighbourhood grocery store and got more food last year. Don't know if they went to the store this year.
Betty - that Owl is wonderful!
Still in a heat wave here. 105 today.
Sad when it's such a big event and it rains..do the events still take place?
Oh Lindakay, can't imagine ever being in those temps..are the grands still with you?
Debating wether or not to get something next door for supper or go make something..had Swiss chalet for lunch, should have kept it for supper..hmmm if I get desperate I can get into the fixings I put aside for Missy lol
Not sure the rain didn't pass us by
In most cases the event does go on - if it's a race and it's not safe, no.
Today we had a major storm and it shook the house.
Hubby got home, brought others with him. I now have 6 kids here. Two will be leaving the end of the week. The traveling Viet Nam Wall will be mid state Thurs. to Sun. Taking the kids to see it on Sat. Will be meeting DD and DIL who will be taking two back home with her.
I still have the binding to put on the tree skirt and then it's done. I thought it had some plain places so I machine
embroidered Holly leaves & Berries.
I'm starting back to knitting. Our church is having a craft sale in November, and they donated a bunch of wool for me to knit stuff
Dr is supposed to have the results by Tuesday, her first opening is Weds morning, so I'll have to wait until then to find out what's going on with my knee.
I love those blocks Betty, your Canada quilt will be gorgeous!
Kids went back home Tuesday, nice and quiet here.
Karen, I'm trying to imagine a week with six after a long weekend with one. Bless your energy.
We returned to Maypop after a week in HOTLANTA. Plenty warm in the mountains during the day but nights are in the sixties. Been very short on rainfall the last month and the kitchen garden is ramping up so I'm either switching soakers or married to the hose.
My favorite Southern-ism is "howzher momerinem" (how's your mother and them) = how's the family. There was a learning curve for me when it came to expressions like "fixin'" dinner. Was it burned? To spicy? What was the problem? Another is "putting up". It means storing or putting away regardless of up, down or sideways. It also refers to canninig and food storage as in, "Put up twelve quarts of green beans yesterday. Left the canner on the porch. Wouldja fetch it and put it up in the shed?"
Good morning ..
Not too early .. looks as though it could rain here today .. yesterday was lovely weather wise, event wise, no ..
I have been going to visit a hospice client for a bit .. went yesterday and could tell she was doing vey poorly .. sat with the family, and, as we talked about one of Mom's trips back home to England, she passed .. just like that.
The events following still seem like a dream to me, but .. suffice it to say .. when I 'go' I'd like to go in that manner .. settled, peaceful and all arrangements made ..
Our apt, DH and myself, is this Tuesday to have all our final arrangements revamped and firmed up .. I cannot stress how important that is ..
More yard work today .. another garden salad ..
~M~
Good for you M and G on getting your arrangements in order. Warren and I had everything in place and I was relieved when that day finally came. W was cremated, no service or visitation.
Looks like rain today. Poured rain in the night and it sure likes there will be more today.
Dianne and her TH
I have the top to the quilt almost finished. Have the borders made and need to get them sewn on. Norm took me shopping yesterday and I got the backing. Hope to get it to the quilter this week...
Been working on another cross stitch piece also. A lady and daughter working on a quilt. Tiny stitches - 16 to the inch done with one thin strand of floss. This one will keep me occupied for quite a while....
Morning all,
"m" being surrounded by loved ones, mcomfy and at rest is the way to go..if only we could chose..grandma and grandpa made their arrangements and lived for 20 years more, made is easy on the family...Roger did not have arrangements made but then at 47 who thought it was necessary, was hard on me..of course it was first or second day get came into effect, every time he gave me a price he had to tell me about get..finally yelled at him and told him 'let me pick what I want, don't want to hear of cost!
Dianne, you must be getting the rain we got last night, flowers are all laying on the ground.
Barb, bet you can't wait to get your quilt to the quilters..if you don't mind my asking, how much does she charge? think I have a petit point somewhere that needs done of a quilter, must be 20 years or more in a bag somewhere, must look for it, might be something I could do while watching tv in the evenings
Deb, hope the results gives you some answers..
Laurel I'm with you, that is a lot of young ones to be watching over, Karen is a trooper..I always took 4 grandsons away for a week, never. Problem then they got to be young men and work/school etc..should try to get them together to go do something for a weekend..hard with one at college out of province.
Susan, here is hoping the Calgary stampede has good weather today, do you attend?
Morning hasn't been good so far
Went outside to have my coffee and Missy had brought a chippie and set it near the chair I was sitting in...yuk. Got the dustpan and was on my way to the back push to give him a resting place not paying attention while looking at the massive amount of flowers I have to pull out when My foot got caught it a large rusted metal art title and I went flying..big sigh
Sun is shinning, much too wet to do much in the gardens this morning so maybe I will take time to clean my craft room then quilt a bit on the wedding quilt. Things come in 3's, maybe I should just sit
Owie Betty, I do that sort of thing too. I think we get so absorbed in the moment we forget to watch where we're going.
Actually having all the greats here is easy. Used to be with the grands too. They enjoy being together and pretty much entertain themselves. Age range is 7 to 14 so they don't need constant watching. Every one is well aware of the rules here and consequences. Grandson Bob woke them all early this morning and they are on the lake fishing. Yesterday was Bob's 32nd birthday so we all went to Outback Steakhouse to celebrate. Was a good dinner. Maybe doggies on the campfire tonight.
Oh Betty, please be careful. Make sure you clean that real good.
Sorry to hear your your patient passing "M". Wish we could all pass away like that.
My Grandparents were from Tennessee, and some of the words or phrases were quite funny when we heard the for the first time. Frashlight is a flashlight, go warsh yer hands in the zinc, is go wash your hands in the sink.
Ouchie Betty .. I know you'll be about 3-4 shades of mauve/purple tomorrow ..
My biggest fear since my hip replacement is FALLING .. I am so careful .. always check and recheck where I am heading .. as well .. being through amp rehab with Lorna, it's something the team stresses frequently, and, I found some of their tips on getting up after a fall very helpful.
HI BARB :-) 'we' cooked yesterday :-) Had the Betty Crocker utensils out ..
YOW .. 16 stitches to the inch .. do you wear special glasses?
Karen .. enjoy your time with the family ..
House is up n movin .. Lorna's folks call every morning (on the weekend) at 10am to touch base ... her Dad will be 87 on Tuesday .. mailed Lorna's card, and one from DH and myself, together, same post box a week ago .. so far, Lorna's is the only one that made it.
Our mail carriers may be striking (or locked out) on Monday !!!
Guess I should decide on the 'fashion statement' for today LoL
TTFN
~M~
It felt cool out there but much warmer than I thought!
Did Lorna's mom tell you "M" that holland landing got bad hail yesterday, farmers are beside themselves..did a lot of damage.
Love hearing of all the dialects and sayings..can almost tell as you say where people are from within your own province.
Melanie came this morning, she has been making cushions for her patio set and ran into a glitch..got her organized then headed outset..still quite damp so opted to cut down shrubs, cut greenery off spend flowers, amazing how my gardens look like they are September gardens
So in for a sandwhich then back out..few more hours for today, won't overdo
Spent sunrise working in the kitchen garden and took some pics. The first is the entrance and arbor with lima beans & cukes. It will be covered over in a few weeks. The second is immediately to the left of the first; the outside path with herbs, perrenials and flowering shrubs going up the mountainside. The third pic is four varieties of heirloom green & wax beans on left with long, Suyo cukes, zucchini & yellow squash in center and a second bean and southern pea planting on right. Five southern pea varieties in different places. Peppers of many types here and there throughout. Last pic is one of three sections of tomatoes on the left, more peppers, pumpkins too small to see and butternut squash. Okra is on the opposite side.
Came in and got my sourdough kneaded and together for either a loaf or pitas. Pitas are stove top so the house stays cooler. Cooked the last of my Canadian brown lentils for a lentil salad.
I'd like to be sewing during the afternoon heat but my back/butt still gives me on again, off again grief six months after a bumpy slide down the deck stairs. Sitting aggravates it. Maybe that's a good thing but it makes for fits and starts in the quilting department.
Holy wah, your veggie gardens are spectacular, no words..to think you can just walk outside and there is an abundance of fresh veggies...you are something else
I've had this tutorial for ions, kept wanting to do it, my sister Sharon just did a few sets, one for her and a few for friends..got me wanting to make a set this week
Laurel, your gardens are beautiful.
Betty I love the garden art. Are they fountains?
Yes, they are made with cement, cardboard pillar supports and glass globes for the tops
Called Greg to bring me home my wheelbarrow but will order one tomorrow and let him have the one he has as he has it more than me. Lol
Never saw so many skitters..wow inside I stay for today..did want to do more work but enough is enough..
Linda Kay, with the feel like factor we are suppose to reach 105 for a few days
Do any of you have flox? Usually have such a display but with the humidity they have been attacked by mildew of sorts..won't be many gracing my gardens this year..
Sad when we have to fight the elements

omgoodness BETTY! what an OUCH. made me shiver to see it. Hope it's all cleaned up and such. You're such a "do-er" that I know you - you don't take care of yourself as much as you should.
As for Stampede - no, we don't go. dislike the crowds and the parking - it's terrible. And being short, I don't get to see much lol As for fireworks, I hear them, but can't see them where we are. I really don't miss them. I would enjoy seeing them, but won't fight for parking to go.
Hi Everyone!!
Thought I'd pop in to say hello, and hiya...
I've been on a non stop routine since the wedding...You know house, lake house, now a second (temporary house). Steve working the inside, I the Outside...
Here a quick review,
Since the wedding, Jacob got a full time job at a top Country Club in Palatine... He is doing so well the head Chef gave him a key to the Kitchen!! He works well over so sometime they cut his hours, lol. Meanwhile, I care for Pegasus and Flo. Gee, I miss those fluff balls of fur.
First time in years, no sistah gathering, so I'm going to see Liz and Kenny at their new place!!! I scored a summer gardening job...means $$ for Spending, big cheesy grin.
Sabrina has officially transplanted herself to Paletine, nice 2 bedroom place.
I had been moving my craftroom into MY very own room.
Julia and David are moving to Round Lake, IL.; whew only 1/2 to 45 mins away, very excited.
DH... was asked to take PPI on the road and so I went with to see the job, next thing I know, I'm doing the garden work!! Was travelling back and forth to Indiana every other day, 2-3 hour ride!---should I say insane, so opted to stay to get something done....Good gosh, All I said was ma'an this needs a serious clean up...lol next thing ya know I got the job, lol been here for a week! Had no computer, but then too wiped out..Clean up is going well. Going home tomorrow: 1-going to TS T-Th. I need the break and I miss everyone including my bed.
I did house cleaning and all the laundry before I left so hopefully the place is still in pretty good order. Need to work my yard which has been interrupted with this job...
I'm on a little bitty lake so it's been quite nice, even in the humidity.
Today I only put in 5 hours and then had spa time. Now i'm waiting for Steve to get here with something good like steak and potatoes to cook on the grill.
ok well Can't wait to get time to catch up, but waiving to everyone, hoping all is well with everyone..
Today I learned how to take a selfie!! Haha, so my new picture icon proudly taken by me, myself & I, haha, armwraps and winks.
ROFLOL, no I don't look like Skittles and I have no feathers...hhahah, better figure out how to change the picture on my phone! hmmmm, lol wrong selfie
ahhh, some people never change. wink
Omg Judy so nice to get an update, you are always a going concern..kudos to Jacob how proud you must be..
You must be experiencing the empty nest syndrome Judy..
Laughing to myself, I can see Steve bringing you with him as he knows when you would see the gardens he would have you hooked, you'd get the gardens done..I thought after the last venture of buy/fix/sell he'd not do another..
oh oh oh, when are you going to California? With SUZANNE having car trouble and Linda having concerns over David I thought same thing if plans to go to Newfoundland fall through, ask Liz if she minded a border and I could rent a car and do some sightseeing.,great minds think alike..will Steve be going with you? I even checked Kas Vegas if Rita wanted to go, reasonable flight and accommodations then chequer how far it would be to San Francisco for a few days to see Liz and Kenny..so many decision, all pending on the girls to give me a aye or a nay
Watching 'weird or what' Lordy such happenings..a girl saved a young boy from drowning, years later the lady was in a restaurant and was choking to death and the boy who she saved saved her..both times the saver was not suppose together where they were, totally last minute change in plans..must be a new show..show is quite interesting..must remember to watch it again
Susan, I have friends who have been to the stampede, they loved it..imagine it's much like our exhibition in Toronto, can't move for people.
Just got off the telephone with Sharon, went through the process of her garden art..think I will use hypertufa mix vs just cement as she said how heavy hers
I'm yawning, besr I go look for Miss or I will have another sleepless nigh worrying over her.
JUDY!!! HI!!!!!!!!! gee - LTNS - so happy to see you...... er......... Skittles.........er...... sure you have that Selfie thing down pat?
Betty - during Stampede time it's so difficult to find parking that visitors clog up the residential streets and some people can't park in their own driveways. Many Calgarians leave the city on vacation just for that reason.
Hope you locate Missy!
I was supposed to have a volunteer come to help me sort through my stuff at home (really not sorted well, and I haven't unpacked some stuff Can't find my frying pans, or some ingredients for recipes, etc. I'm not going to buy more of the same, when I'll get it as we finally move and things get straightened around).
My volunteer's gone down East - her elderly mother's not well and she's gone for 2 weeks to see her.
I'm going to try and get things somewhat sorted. Hate living out of boxes.....
I've been to the stampede. It was in the nineties. We were invited to the ceremony where the mayor gave us a white hat. I'm sure I still have it. That was my only trip ever to Canada. I went on a shoe buying spree at a boutique shoe store in downtown Calgary. SO was there for consults so I rented a car and went to Drumheller to the museum. I saw oil wells being pumped along the way. I got lost among the hoodoos on the trail surrounding the museim. What an adventure! I was near tears. When SO wrapped up his business we went to Banff and stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel. We hiked, ate and swam for a week. The spa facilities were fabulous. It was a very memorable trip especially seeing a moose eating pansies from a windowbox in town (they don't eat moose moss like in Dr. Seuss?) and is it meercats that were jumping in and out of holes? So cute but I'm glad they're not in my yard.
