Good morning ..

Sounds as though (and looks from the pics) that a good time was had for all over our holiday weekend .. as it should be .. :-)

Betty, I sure hope Missy is back .. that's a worry ..
Gord brought home lotsa 'stuff' .. ZipLoc containers, which I didn't need .. but, I no doubt at sometime want them .. fly repellant, TShirts, Security light for outside .. just lots of 'stuff'
I bought him a BBQ cover, a GOOD one, do NOT ask the price, I was floored!! It's top of the line, made by Coleman .. BUT .. made in CHINA .. of the 5 brands available ..NONE were made in the US or Canada ..

Deb ..am thinking you'll be ok with a knee MRI .. they'll just slide the lower part inside 'the tube', sorry to hear about the boo boo ..

LK and Karen .. nice to see the family pics.LK, the FBook video of the watermelon was priceless ..

Off o the hosp early, Lorna is up for a cortisone shot to her knee ..

On the move..

Happy belated b-day to Gord!!!

Laurel - first let me say that I KNOW what you were saying was only from the best intentions, and I love you for it :-)
Secondly, let me say that I have the gawd-blamed things ON lol
I think the backup of people telling me that they're a must, really had a whole bunch of you determined that I should put them on, and I worked harder at it. They pinch awfully at the top of my thigh, but I'll get used to it. As I lose more weight, it should be easier. It may be more support for my knees too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone, hot/muggy..humidity high thus half my body aching like crazy..sure same with many of you..

Went to Walmart last night, got what I needed plus more..half black sanders reg $40 on for S20 so a pair had to come home with me..got my bags to the door and there was missy begging to come in..sigh of relief for sure after all the talk of fishers.

Singing happy birthday to Gord, I'm the one off key so black your ears Gord

Deb how did your test go? Was today right?

Laurel how is Lil E doing

Lad Kay loved the photo's of the kids enjoying themselves..are they gone home now?

Waiting for it to cool a bit then want to put a few hours in the gardens trimming overgrown shrubs

Verona, ON

Afternoon everyone ! Weather here is the same as Betty's.My head looks like it has bed springs coming out of it.

Had a wonderful time having tea with the new person on the lane. She is a delightful addition to our lane. Judy like you and I she uses sage when needed.

LK headed to FB in a few so will look for the pics of the grands.

Deb don't fret about the MRI . I have had several since 09. Yes it is very noisy but I just put myself into a 'zen' state. Some of the techs ask you if you want to hear music. Its usually cold in the room where you have the MRI. I learned to take off all of my rings and such before I left home so you don't have to do it there.

Happy Birthday Gord ! at least M he brought back useful things. One year we were doing Ball's Falls and it is always Thanksgiving Weekend. I am sure I have mentioned this before but Warren loved grocery stores. He went into the 1 in Vineland and found turkeys on for a VERY good price. He bought more than 1 and the store kept them in their freezer until W left. W couldn't keep quiet about the cost and I am sure the IGA was delighted. as several from the show went in and bought turkeys too.

Good for you Susan for getting those compression socks on. I watched a friend put hers on and later taken them off. Long process but so worth it.

Chaos is throwing all 3 of the bowls around so he must be really hungry. That just won't do so I best get out there and feed the TH.
Dianne and her TH

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

lol Betty - if you're asking Gord to block his ears, how's he gonna hear the beautiful music you make?

Deb - did you hear the results of the test?

Thank you, Dianne - I'm concerned that these compression stockings are cutting off the circulation at the top of my thigh..... they're cutting in so much
lol that TH of yours - sure are a hungry bunch!!

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Glad that you won the battle of the hose, Susan. If you think they are too tight speak to a nurse liason from the hospital you were in and see if they will remeasure you. Unfortunately there is a high rate of measuring mistakes. If that's the case be insistent that they replace them. Try elevating your legs for fifteen minutes before putting them on. Sorry for the little guilt trip. The nice nurses work the floors and the mean ones work ER and critical care. I'm a meany. :>)

Linda Kay, looks like the kids had a blast.

Betty, Lil'E is reunited with Mom'E and Dad'E. They occupy half the terrace level of our house in an apartment we created for them. Dad'E is working on his PhD in electrical engineering and was just hired as a Senior Research Scientist for a division of GA Tech. Mom'E has a Master's in architectural preservation and is a nationally certified home inspector. She inspects all kinds of homes but specializes in old structures. She came home from work a short time ago and was reading Lil'E a book while I canned peach preserves from our tree.

lol Laurel - you are Not a meanie. You just Care, that's all
Nurse liason would only work with me for a week after I left - that was in March. I'm past the "best before" date, I'm afraid.
They never measured me, just gave me a pair off the shelf. I think the thing is, they weren't given a prescription for them, from the Dr, and I had asked about them so they gave me a pair. To get measured for them costs about $200, with the cost of the stockings being included, but these are just too much compression. They're meant for people who stay in bed, in the hospital.
I put them on before I got out of bed. I could not last past 6pm. They were just too high a compression

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..
The heat is NOT my friend .. was out and about yesterday, then home to celebrate DH BDay .. and I was wilting .. I finally had to go to bed around 7pm ..

Dianne .. DH brought home ..... A TURKEY !! LoL ...the IGA in the place he was visiting in WI had them on for some amazingly low price .. AND, they were 'JENNY Os .. a good brand .. so .. we have another turkey in the freezer ..

I think today will be 'kinder' re heat and humidity, that said, there is a fogginess around .. likely the cool air coming in hitting the warm and humid ..

Have another nursey reunion luncheon tomorrow .. we certainly do tend to be a 'social ' class ..

Have a great day

No MRI yesterday, they're still waiting for approval from the insurance company. Rescheduled for noon Friday, as long as the paperwork goes through. What a pain it is dealing with insurance companies! Wish they had an opening a little later in the day, then I could get away with not going back to work afterward!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, it is possible they gave you the wrong size stocking. Those are not a one size fits all.
I agree about insurance being a pain in the behind.
Not much going on here. Going to be another scorching day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,
Funny day out there, called for rain yesterday 'no rain' saying no rain today 'looks like rain'. Walked the gardens and skitters were saying stay awhile so inside I am, thinking I might get Alberta blocks done then that would leave but 1 to do and all blocks done for the 'my Canada'quilt blocks then the real work starts.

Deb, Rita dropped in yesterday and we were talking about health insurance, there should be a happy medium between Canada's vs USA health insurance..we get all the services mostly free but have to wait, you can get all the services immediately but have to pay or wait for approval... I did get the best of care when I was ill and didn't wait long for specialist appointments, was blessed..here is hoping approval for Friday testing gets approved.

Laurel you amaze me, always being Mrs Homemaker in kitchen and gardens..all are so inviting.

"m" looks like we are all in for turkey..now to get cooler temps to cook them.

Susan, you must have the wrong size socks..maybe using the wrong ones will do more damage..best et it checked.

Lindakay, with all this high humidity bet it's playing havoc with your hip/knees

Lordy I was up early, just looked at the clock, thought it should be close to noon and here it's 9am. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Skeeters are bad here too.
The humidity does make my joints hurt, but change in the weather when winter arrives is worse.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Gag me .. the humidity is horrendous, but, there's a cool breeze ..
Just pickled some Hot Banana Peppers for DH and Lorna, they LOVE them and he religiously plants plants every year, just seems to me everything is coming in early ?
Peppers (Habanjero) and cukes especially ..

Susan .. you will likely end up with a strained neck and tennis elbow by trying to pull those comp sox on .. I am sure you can get your doc to prescribe a fitting and insurance will cover a pair .. would that we lived closer as mine are sitting in a drawer wrapped around a bar of lavender soap ..medium long .. I hope to NEVER have to use them again !

Betty .. looking forward to seeing one of the Canada quilts .. it'll be gorgeous :-)

Guess I should get lunch/supper .. HEY .. we have left over Chinese food YAY

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Deb - here's hoping your MRI gets done, and that it's easy peasy.
Betty - that My Canada quilt sounds lovely - but you're right, once pieced, the real work begins!
Socks - Marilynne, insurance does Not pay for the socks, nor the fitting of them.
The size I have a pair of Covidien, size H, Large Regular thigh length. My legs are losing weight too lol They're much thinner, but still, the compression in these socks are TIGHT. These were the largest the hospital had. I wore them until 6pm last night, and my feet & lower legs never swelled the whole night, even until bedtime. They were torturous to wear any longer - pinched at the top of my thighs (beneath my butt lol)
I spoke to Home Care, the Dr and the hospital. I can't get socks any cheaper. You'd think that they'd go along with preventative medicine......

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

And still on the sox...if you feel a mistake might have been made you are entitled to filing a complaint with your doctor's office or a case manager (nurse) at the hospital. You are not only a responsibility to your caregivers, you're a liability if a mistake was made. If you were given compression hose it is because the hospital nursing staff has standing orders from your physician. If they didn't then that's a problem. If you were not measured then that is in the category of procedural failure. A case manager will address any possible errors even months after your release. As Marilynne suggested, contact the physician's office first. Sometimes they will give you contact info for a case manager. Very important that you are in hose and they fit properly. I know...nag, nag, nag. The only worse nudge than a nurse is a Jewish mother/nurse.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

The hospital nursing staff did not have a standing order from my physician. The Dr said that after the fact is not when I needed the socks.
lol I love your nag nag nag, Laurel!! It keeps me on my toes!!!
Nudge?!?! I haven't heard that term in a LONG time!! Believe it or not, I am familiar with the word (as Scottish as I am lol) Love it!!! I didn't realize that Nudnik was another term for it!

Funny how every facility has it's own SOPs .
I wakened from my anaesthetic and had 'em on
Beats the heck outta me how they got them on me ! I must have been pretty relaxed !

Pickled 'garlic scapes' this afternoon, a first for me ... usually I freeze them ..

Rain is expected overnight .. Lorna got the cheque IN FULL for the walker that disintegrated .. made her happy.

Waiting for the dryer to stop, fold the clothes, then .. BED ..

Glad Missy came home from her travels. Yes, I did get the approval for the MRI, so it's scheduled for 11:30 today. A little nervous about it, I'll be glad when it's done!

Happy to hear Lorna got a full refund!

Deb

Breath deeply Deb, wasn't my favourite thing but then I'm closterphobic..maybe there will be a wait and you will not have to return to work.

Missy is resting, gashes on her nose so she must have been fighting, will have to try and keep her in come late afternoons.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mornin

Rain day here .. cool and wet ...
Just read that Holland Marsh area way east of me, is in a drought situation ..

Betty, did Missy come back ?

Already sad news today .. a colleagues daughter, now living in NC was up visiting her Mom , had some breathing problems, and, died en route to hospital yesterday .. I think Kelly would be about 40 ish
I called Murray .. told him I loved him .. he cried, I cried, but, this has got to STOP ..
I will forgive, but, never forget ..

Guess I best feed the dogs .. Lorna is still asleep, DH just left for an eye docs appt.

Hey to Barb, Sharon< Judy< Dianne> Everyone :-)

Enjoy your day ladies

So weird .. when I wrote the above post ... the 2 from Deb and Betty weren't there ..

Guess the site still has some bugs ..

Good luck Deb :-)

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you called Murray "M" life is just too short
If he doesn't take advantage of your reaching out then his loss..
What a tragic loss for your friend..sending prayers for all..

Overcast here, one would think it will rain any minute but weatherman says nay

In our newspaper last night it said to think of our hottest days over the past, in 50 years they will be seen as the coldest..

Our farmers are having a time of it, Sooo dry that even when we do get a bit of rain the earth sops it up and dries up right away..we are going to pay dearly for our crops this year.

Had problems with Alberta owl block, trying to make do with what fabric I have but not going so good..they asked for a DJ brown tree trunk, I have black tone, shows up nice but now the Owls talons don't show Grrr think I'd best wait till I get to town this afternoon to buy proper fabrics

Look who is getting comfy and will sleep all day..bad kitty and I told her so

I hadn't said but we now have a cat in residence. If you remember great grand Brody and his Ducky Super boy. Well his allergies have worsened so Ducky became a no no for him. I have always loved Ducky because of his sweet personality. So he is now here with us. Normally not a cat person but...... Dogs have adjusted well. Brody is here for this month but Ducky just had a bath and Brody knows he can't hold him. Photo is when brody first got Ducky. He had been tossed out of a moving car in front of the house. As it was Brody's birthday, he considered it a special delivery. At the time his allergies weren't too bad so Dr. said if Ducky had regular baths it might be OK.

Morning everyone.
Glad to hear Missy is back home.
"M", sorry to hear of your friend passing.

Karen .. that Brody is just too dang cute ..
Quite the story on the cat .. he probably loves it to death ..

Missy looks comfy cozy :-)

Heading for town in a bit

Ahhh love ducky, how does Brody feel about ducky now going to live with you?? At least Brody can have visits..
Cruel people indeed, Missy comes from a batch of kitties that were thrown in the dumpster next door..she was the runt..I often see kitties come round, look so much like missy except not as tiny..I think Missy as is Ducky so very cuddly and loveable because they know we've saved them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ducky hasn't changed in looks either, he's still white with orange ears and tail.

Victoria Harbour, ON

A keeper for sure..how are all the kids making out, great weather for swimming

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Marilynne - sorry to hear about your friend passing..... but happy that you reached out to Murray. Time will tell what happens.
WOW - a full refund - Awesome!! Now, to go shopping for a new one.

Betty - hooray that naughty Missy is back home!! naughty kitty! Won't pull that stunt for awhile, I'm sure tsk tsk tsk
So many people do things that we know are unthinkable to tiny furries. I just can't fathom it.....

Karen - Great that you're able to take in Ducky - Brody will be able to love her from a distance and when she's bathed as well :-)

We got the Demand Letter from the lawyer into our former tenants' hands last night - told them we had mail and some of their goods, and we gave them a box with the letter in it (as well as other mail from Revenue Canada, etc.) Haven't heard back from them, but the Demand is for over $2300
It would be nice if they owned up and took responsibility for their actions. I don't expect to ever hear from them again. Time will tell LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, how do you have proof they received it other than your say so??? Doubt they will ever pay it but it's worth dreaming that they will. Is the Calgary stampede on? Got to tell you I've got 9 of the 10 blocks done and hardest one was the one I thoughts was the easies..you Alberta owl block. Going into Barrie this afternoon so will pick up do brown fabric and replace the black tree limb so I can see the black talons

Saskatchewan is boring, should be easy to do, famous last words

Karen missy hasn't changed either, sometimes the lost their kitty charm, lucky us they haven't.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be nice to start adding the borders which I'm buying fabric for this afternoon
Going to be a deep/blue black

Betty, those quilts will be awesome once put all together.

Karen, I love that heart. Did she make it?

Karen must go look in my glass supply and see what I have..soon time to put sewing away and get some stained glass sone

Lindakay, doubtful any of the recipients will even fathom how much work went into them to this point..I know, I know, gifts from the heart!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Got the MRI done, it was one of the Open MRI machines. It was interesting, glad it's over, though. They didn't say how long until my doc gets the results. They did give me a CD of it. Don't know what I need one for? Post on Facebook? LOL!!

Back at work, but at least the day here is almost over, get to go home in a little over 90 minutes!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hurrah for you Deb, glad it wasn't the enclosed MRI..think I'd rather put up with having what I'd have vs doing it again..uggg

Perhaps cd is for the doc?
