INSIDE today .. VERY hot out .. 90+ plus humidity !!
~M~
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new!
Betty, I hope you are feeling better soon.
Karen, those look like rain lilies.
The TH is driving me crackers today. They are either velcroed to my legs or they are begging to go out. Of course once out and the blast of heat hits them they want back in.
Inside day for me too today. I have about the same temp as M. I went to IGA in the village and by the time I got back home my hair looked like bed springs.Don't you laugh at us LK this is probably a cool day for you and Sharon.
There was quite a hulabloo at the IGA/Liquor Beer store. We have what is called an outlet for booze and beer here in the village because we are so far from everything. Our laws are such that the LCBO cannot open until 11 am on Sundays. But the grocery store opens at 8am. There were several people quite upset with our Ontario laws. When I worked there you couldn't help to feel sorry for a lot of then. They had a long drive towing their boat, camping gear, kids and a dog slobbering over their shoulder.
Oh Betty just when you thought you were on the right course.
Going to read.

Linda thanks so much, you are correct.
Back to the land of the living (hoping)
It's 88 with a feel like 102 and a storm brewing..Rita texted me, she is in parry sound helping her brother and sil..tractor overturned the other day on sil and her leg now needs a metal plate so an sos call went out to Rita..she is now on her way home hoping to beat the storm.
I'm not taking weatherman's prediction of rain this afternoon though, nope, been going out and moving around the hose as I seeded quite a large area yesterday. See though black birds are eating my seeds 😝
I'm with you Dianne, likely Lindakay and Sharon are smiling, calling us sissies as we find these temps unbearable.
Greg dropped in, he is doing a pizza party at my brothers in Wasaga beach, my brother turned 60 at the beginning of the month and my sil had her birthday yesterday so afternoon party it is..decided I best just stay home.
My setback wasn't due to overdoing or sitting in the sun..was in the shade and did little..even eating, didn't eat anything unusual so just something going around for sure.
Lhiz, hope the turmeric helps your daughter..difficult living in constant pain..and you my dear are young t heart and that's what counts.
Guess we all panicked when yet other changes went on with dg but you do miss your friends and yes well worth the membership.
Afraid to eat but tummy is calling for something, perhaps a bowl of fruit..have berries to add as well..might fill the spot
Our weather is nice today. We had a nice soft rain all last night, and right now it is 87. Not too bad.
Sorry to hear about Rita's SIL! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanks Lindakay....was great hearing your dad is doing good, he had a hard time of it for awhile.
Barb, anxious to see photo's of your next quilt project
I have many to be quilted, should make an attempt to quilt at least one this week
You don't get much done when you lay all day on the couch
Hoping rain doesn't miss us
Dianne, if the storm has hit yogurt be prepared for torrential rains..am sure all the seed I planted is now washed to the driveway..
Oh well, need rain
Well .. I have putzed and fiddled and fussed and sworn, but .. I do think I have gotten some pics from my ipad to my laptop
Here goes ..........
First couple is the bike, painted and with flowers, needs some PIZZAZZ .. workin on it
Hosta bed, one of them,
Lorna's Impatiens garden .. you can see her in the background cleaning up her truck and equipment for tomorrow, when she'll plant the last pic and last batch of flowers
She also goes for a leg fitting tomorrow !!! Fingers crossed on that
Here goes
~M~
I love that bike. Your gardens are beautiful.
That is really cute, The flowers are just right.
Today we were hundred eight degrees and then for the cool down. We have a high alert on our air quality because of the fires in Arizona and California. Yesterday you couldn't see the mountains that surround the Las Vegas Valley that's a bad smoke haze was.
Vern is back to eating better but still getting thinner and weaker in the legs. He did attend standups today from his wheelchair and tried to stop at seven I encouraged him to go to ten. When I asked him if you wanted to do some more later in the day you should no he had enough for the day.
Linda, good I am the rain lilies. I have about six different colors of rain lilies. And of mine from a few years back. They cost about eight dollars a bulb multiply like rabbits. If any of you want some, I will dig some up and send them to you. Just can't guarantee the color because they all got mixed up last year by my gardener.
Betty so glad to hear that you're feeling better . So sorry to hear you're going to miss the party but glad you were smart enough to stay home. The pictures you put on Facebook and the photos on here shows all the hard work you put into your garden. Sorry about your seed floating down the street but it will probably lend someplace in sprout.
Dianne, how is the back and TH. Your trip to get the strawberries and then you're eating them after you got home what's enjoyable to read. We have had some awesome strawberries this year that We are really close to California. We also had the Rainier cherries which are fabulous but this year they were really expensive, and for me to say that, you know they were expensive.
Marilyn, your bike is wonderful. Just need something trailing out of the baskets. I am sure Lorna can help you with that. I saw variegated impatient on Facebook the other day and it was wonderful. I did not know there was such a thing. I see the bike is well secured. That was the first thought that came to my mind.
Karen, how are all the grand babies and kids? Did you guys avoid all the bad storms? How is your rental coming as far as the repairs.
Barb, I am assuming you are still on vacation. I do hope you're having a wonderful time.
Liz, good to see you dropping in and saying hello.
Linda, Betty does not realize you and I have low humidity. Anyway, we do. yesterday our humidity was 2%. And we have thinner blood.
Susan, hopefully your move will go smoothly and you can get started with your new life in a new place.
Poor West Virginia. 10 inches of rain. If we had 10 inches of rain, we would be in the same boat. And 90% or more of those involved have no flood insurance. So very very sad.
Talk at you all later. Hugs, Sharon
Good to 'see' you Sharon. Are you out of pain now ?
I just have to call my Physio guy and set up some appointments. He got me walking again after a terrible car accident. I saw him 3 times week for 1 1/2 years.. Its hard to believe that an injury in 1987 has continued to plague me.
When I went around the side of the house to get the extension cords as I will get what we call lawn cut tomorrow there was my one and only rose bush with 5 flowers out. That will definitely be staying for next year.
Think I will read more of my book about the Granite Mountain Hotshots based out of Arizona. The wildfires in the news have gently led me by my hand to 2 books about their terrible loss. When you read 20 Hotshots went in and only 1 came out it can make your heart just sink.
It is still over 80*F on the deck. There is a breeze but it is a warm one.
Sharon I will be looking for those sleep angels ... they passed me by last night. I just figure they traveled on to someone else more in need than I.
Dianne and her TH
Grands and greats are all just fine, will see them all next week-end at big family reunion. Will be bringing the TN greats home with me for a month, then staying there while mom has surgery. Then Sept & Oct. two grands getting married, one down state, the other in TN.
Rental is about ready, we've had so much company and travelling going on, it's been slow going with it.
oh, those are PRETTY - I'd like to know their name too!
Good morning ..
Sharon .. 2% humidity .. yikes .. nose bleed time for the Cannucks LoL
Hope the cool down stays a bit for you ..
Prayers for Vern .. seems he's trying hard though ..
Karen, busy summer and fall for you .. will you rent your property again ?
Dianne .. old injuries, especially traumatic ones, never ever seem to heal completely .. always bothersome ..
Hope you have a settled day Betty ..
DH will be leaving around 8am or 9 ... Lorna is off to work, and, I am left behind to guard the fortress with the 3 dogs ..
Windy and about 70 today .. LOVE it :-)
~M~
We are going to rent again but to grandson & wife. The older Amelia et the more stuff she has and it's pushing us to the walls. Now there is another baby coming and we simply don't have the room. Besides they need to get on their own even if it's just across the driveway. Her laziness is driving me bonkers, now that she's pregnant again, she feels like she just can't do anything. Sheesh. Not even moved yet and complaining because there is no air conditioning. Guess what? None here either, never has been, usually only 6 or 7 days it would be nice to have.
Morning everyone.
Sharon, our humidity is high here. It stay at about 40 to 60 % most of the time.
Morning all,
Sunshine, 68 with a feels like 81 with a 90% humidity..calling for a high of 70 and rain for tomorrow.
Just got up, yikes, half my usual day has gone by, must start to get up earlier!
Sharon, must be so difficult for you to see Vern failing..heartbreaking for sure.how have you been feeling? Guess in that heat you've not been able to sit much in the gardens..sounds wonderful normally being able to see the mountains in the backdrop..one of these days it's Las Vegas..who knows maybe I can talk those ROADTRIP gals into flying for a few days on one of those excursions.
Bought all ingredients for butter tarts a few weeks ago, taking up space in cupboards, perhaps I will do some baking today or not. Lol
So wish I could have lilies, big sigh, lost all mine about 7 years ago when I bought some that had the deadly bug and lost them all..was told them I'd never be able to have them, hmm, perhaps next year I will try a few and see..maybe put them in a garden far from where the others were.
Can't imagine 10" of rain, floods galore. Went out and looked at the hill and areas I seeded, looks like another trip to town for seed is in order..at least no flooding.
Karen, just don't know how you've put up with DIL this long, maybe she is more than concerned at having rent and services to pay. You sure have been travelling his year, fun though seeing you've not been deathly ill.
Dianne, hear so many who've had accidents have more pain in later years then when it occurs..Linda was 7 when a car ran over her..she was years getting to walk, she now lives in constant pain, poor thing. Your book sounds interesting but sad..those poor firemen..to think same dangers exist for those men /women fighting the blazes recently.
"M" is it today Lorna goes for her fitting..hope she comes home with a smile..

2 words from me HOT HUMID
Fall like day here .. gorgeous, stripped the beds, sheets on the line, and have been crusin about picking up garbage from the wind ..
Lorna had a disappointing apt .. this time the leg was too big !! Honestly, I am at my wits end, as is she .. what a farthead this guy is !!
Off outside again ..
BBL
~M~
Betty, you need to listen to your body, and rest when you need it. You have been through a lot. Have you got any test result back from the Dr. yet?
Dianne, it's only 78 feels like 86 but it's the humidity..best you keep reading in an a/c house, am sure the TH are just as pleased to not go outside
Did meet with gall bladder specialist, nope, not the problem, just one of those things he said came/went, may never come again and we won't have answers.
Nice breeze here "M" would indeed be a great day to hang clothes out.
I'm baking, should have bought a couple more muffin tins, have to wait until on batch of butter tarts cool so I can take them out of the tin..an all afternoon ptoject..
Making 2 lemon meringue pies,p while I'm at it..one for me and one for Greg. Even bought a steak to cook for supper..weekend food didn't agree with me, let's see if. Steak, stir fry and bake potatoe does.
Crazy woman that I am I just came in from cutting some of the lawn. I ran out of energy and so did the battery on the grass trimmer. I also weeded a small flower bed.The AC is on so I might just stay in until about 6 and go back out. Get this I made the TH stay inside as it was too hot for them to be outside.
OH Butter tarts .. Warren loved them with either pecans or walnuts rather than raisins. Steak sounds good too Betty.
BBL
Dianne and her TH
Marilyn,
I can't believe Lorna still doesn't have a correct leg! I feel that everyone should write a letter to the guy and tell him that he is reknowned all over the northern hemisphere for his screw ups and if he doesn't fix Lornas leg immediately he will have dozens of irate women picketing outside his office.
AARRGH!
Terri .. I have been to our gov't leaders both Provincially and Federally .. pat on the head, we know how bad it is .. I have been to the paper and had an article done on Lorna .. written letters .. all for nothing.
Kerry is the only prosthetist in this area .. from the Manitoba border to about 1600 miles east of us.
I have been fortunate enough to be in contact with 2 other female amputees from TBay .. once we get work schedules in sync, we are going to get together and compare notes ..
Still cool and windy here . LOVE it ..
~M~
Terri, wonderful idea..is he a student?
You got to wonder if it will ever be ok with so many fixes..surely there just HAS to be somewhere she can turn to..it's beyond worrying about his feelings..shaking my head..beyond believable..he should be working right through the day/night until it's fixed..☹️
Dianne, too hot for the animals, so dear lady what to heck you doing outside on yard duty?
I don't understand how there can only be one prosthetist for such a long stretch, do they not make a decent salary in Canada? Or, is he the only one that accepts Lornas plan?
We live in the boonies yet we have 50 of them within a 50 miles radius, (not all accept my plan though). My friend had her leg within a few months of her amputation and it was well fitted, too. She only had 1 issue with it rubbing and that was corrected quickly.
Terri, I don't think he knows how to make adjustments..
Another load of butter tarts for the oven shortly, I've got kitchen almost cleaned. The vacuuming is a must..flour all over lol
Greg is dropping in for a pie and likely buttertarts after work
Had one and now I don't think I could eat a steak, baked taters and carrots..should try though
Excellent guy here in Kingston M .... just saying. Actually I had better not crow too much maybe the guy has retired. It is insane that Kingston is a teaching hospital for docs and none of them want to stay here once their residentcy is over.
Its not uncommon Terri for 1 specialist to cover large areas. My NeuroOpthma doc is the only 1 between Toronto and Montreal. That's 2 provinces. A heck of a lot of miles. You never cancel an appointment because it could be 6 mon before he can see you again.
Steve my borrowed son came so I went outside to help him get my garden pump into the lake. Even though I am not having gardens I use the pump with lake water rather than my well water for lots of things. We both were soaking wet by the time we finished and not by lake water. I had a tree come down right where I walk the dogs so we cut that up too. People were probably wondering who the lunatics were using a chain saw today. I am in now and I'm not going out other than to walk the dogs if they will get off the floor vents.
Oh Betty lemon pie ... my favourite.
The TH are tossing their food bowls around in the kitchen - guess they are hungry.
D and her TH
Glad Steve made it over Dianne, having those 2 things done will ease the mind, know things like that bother me even though they are insignificant..
Ended up with 32 buttertarts and 12 mini bites and 2 lemon pies..gladly share..truly I would. Get comfy with your book and enjoy the evening!
Cooked up steak, baked potatoe but no butter..used it up cooking today..guess I should run to foodland, either that or do without and go tomorrow...Drats going to have to keep some in the freezer.
Those look delicious, wish I was closer.
yummmm butter tarts & lemon meringue pie! Gotta tell ya - do Not want to buy these pies from grocery store. End up with more meringue than filling. Complained, and next time we went to the store we saw....... you guessed it, a sale on "meringue pies". Guess the 1st item they list is the one they have the most of.... meringue...... siiiiigh
Marilynne - what are you to do about poor Lorna's leg - how Very frustrating to have her Dr be the only one to go to!
Dianne - picked up a (free) computer desk for Bob today - we had to sell his when we moved to the last place we lived in, cuz there was just No room. When we build the den in our new place, there will be enough room for 2 desks again. While we were there, we met their dog - a BIG doberman, and his name was Chaos! very friendly, and loved to cuddle. I thought of you immediately. Wish I had a camera. I told her about your 3, called the TH. She also had a dobbie/pug cross - body of a dobbie, and facial features of a pug. Only 7 mo old, but small. Told her she had 1/2 of the TH! lol Her Chaos certainly was a TH all by himself - 2 yo and head as big as mine (or bigger).
Sleep angels flew right over head tonight !!!
Re Lorna .. she has a doc ,but, he has nothing to do with her prosthesis .. that is looked after by a Prosthetist .. he (Kerry) has his own facility here in TBay .. he himself is a below the knee amp ..
I do believe not many are cut out to be Prosthetists .. it is fer sure not a glamorous occupation .. and, it requires a lot of physical output ..crawling around on the floor adjusting this and that on a persons prosthetic.
Kerry as a young woman working with him now, she is almost certified .. but, she is as big as a minute .. very slight and, not much strength .. these prosthetics HAVE to be secure.
Anyway .. Lorna sees him again on the 4th .. who knows what will happen ..
MMMMMmmmmm .. I would love a butte tart right now at 2am LoL
Guess water will have to do me ..
Truth be told, the 3 spoiled dogs are not settling because their 'DAD' isn't here ..
Best get back to bed ..
M
Sleep is the enemy, might as well get up and fight sitting up ..
Hope everyone has a great day
~M~
Morning everyone.
I was going to go into Ktown this morning but think I will wait until tomorrow morning.
Sleep was my enemy last night also. I was hoping the sleep angels had found you M. I finally just got my book and started to read.Very thankful for good books. When Warren had all of his appointments and radiation I always took a brain candy book with me.
Cloudy skies - looks like it could rain. These poor cash crop farmers are almost on their knees - we can count on local veggies to be very expensive. I'll still go to market though - they need our support. Yesterday I was in Foodland and a regular sized cucumber was $2.49. You could have picked me up off of the floor.
Susan I am trying to envision the pup you saw. Diesel has a huge head like a true Rottie has.. Chaos needs a facelift. His little tan spots that should be over his eyes are down on his cheeks. Love to hear when a big dog is a love bug. People think because the dogs are big they are vicious. It is interesting to see people's reaction to Diesel and Chaos.
Cleaning lady comes today woo hoo !! I best get things tided up before she comes. It's like washing your hair before you go to the hair dresser.
Seems much cooler today but I haven't gone far yet.The TH are all laying around but not over the floor vents.Since Chaos who is free of Lymes and is laying down a lot I am hoping it is the heat that has Diesel and Duke doing the same.
LK are you still OK weather wise ?
My battery is running out so I best go and charge it.
Dianne and her TH
Morning all.
59 feels like 59, high of 67 100% humidity, rain is looming. ...turned off a/c
Perhaps you'll have a cool down day as well Dianne. Are your towns having their July 1st celebrations this weekend or did they like I have them last weekend? Midland has some major events, I think I will just have a quiet weekend, had thought to offer taking mom to Buffalo for a night, tummy still not the best so we will see how I feel as the week progresses.
Sorry "M" and Dianne, hate to say I slept very well last night..missy hogged the bed and I woke a few times but fell right back to sleep..could have dozed in but girls come today, garbage day and had to run to foodland.
Glad I did, the manager was out watering plants, I noticed a few in a cart, rolled down my window and commented on how the heat had done them in..asked about the 2in the cart, he asked if I wanted them, nurse them back to health, yep..before I left I had 8.
Sad, so many put their garbage out at roadside last night and something was on the prowl, the entire street is strewn with garbage..
Must call Darlene to come and get a doc butter tarts for she and John..
Then aunt Muriel, got her squares ragged for her rag quilt
Enjoy the day everyone
Ah lovely Begonias Betty in my favorite red. I usually have a couple of the tuberous variety for the simmer but didn't see a red to suit me. Love the red red but not the orangey red. Just too picky.
Cool here again today and rainy. Good day to sew.
I have everything I need done for next week-end. I'm so excited to see all the family at once. Even a cousin coming from BC that I've never met. One of his brothers came to visit a few years ago, wish he was coming back too. So many live so far away, it's been years since I've seen them.
Nothing like a family reunion Karen..remember the camera
You are ahead of the game, you leave when?
