UGgggggggg .. her leg is in limbo :-(
He was going to come in on a weekend to work out the kinks, but, knowing Kerry that will NEVER happen .. his wife is the office manager, and, she pretty much rules the roost .. nice lady, but weekends are OFF ..
So .. Lorna slogs along with her ill fitting leg .. very frustrating for her, and, for us watching it go on and getting nowhere when we rattle cages ..

Should be home soon, and we'll be off to town

Later :-)

I agree - make THEM pay the entire postage! It was bought in good faith, broke with no instigation by anyone, it was simply defective!

I like the idea of the Tumeric Golden Paste - I printed it out and will try it on my knees.

Betty - funny story about Bob selling his truck (2 1/2 years ago now, in Feb 2014).
Fellow came by, liked that it was an extended cab, so paid cash for it. Picked it up the next day and Bob had forgotten to take the licence plate off. He phoned into Registry and cancelled it, plus he had the Bill Of Sale.
About 8 months later, the police phoned to say that "your truck has been found, abandoned". Told them we sold the truck, and no longer had the info on the fellow, except his first name, and the type of company he owned (Cement driveways was his specialty). Turned out that he had parked the truck in a neighbour's back lane and the police tracked down Bob by the licence plate. They talked to us and got as much info as we had, including the description of the new owner. They partially described the fellow and we filled in the rest. They knew who it was, from the neighbour's description of who they thought it was (their neighbour), so we never heard anything more. Funny, eh?

Umm .. I do believe the paste is to be eaten .. or cooked with ..

Home from Shoppers with a new walker .. what a lot of waiting etc.
Had to put it together etc .. have to say .. the young sales associate went out of her way to help us ..got to try out lots of FUN equipment .. scooters etc ..
It gets broken in tomorrow .. as for the Swedes .. nothing heard .. the town here in Canada that deals with the product is in Milton .

I am pooped .. BUT .. Gord did the BIKE :-)
Try for pics tomorrow ..

Off to bed

And, I get to say an early good morning ..
As always, off and running early ..

Vet wants a urine spec from Lilly .. no way can we crawl down to her level and get one, so, Gord will grab her before she goes out and I will drive off to the vets, pick her up and carry her in and let them do the job !!
What we don't do for our furries :-)

Quiet (cept for the crows) .. best time of the day .. altho, with the humidex we'll be near 90 today .. gag me ..

Have a great day

Morning all, perfect day..
drats, Linda is bringing me my ipad this morning, not sure what I'm doing on this laptop, must be placing my hand somewhere and puff there going my post so I'll try again, perhaps not as lengthly but....

" M" is Lilly ill and what color did you paint the bike? Let's hope that this walker last longer than the last, poor Lorna, she must be exasperated with all these setbacks..

Susan, that is quite the story, odd isn't the word for it.

Liz, think you can purchase turmeric pills at the health food store as well.

LindaKay, been awhile since I've asked how your dad and sister are doing, any plans on visiting?

Weekend again, hoping to get grass, trimming and groceries done today so that it leaves all weekend to do whatever comes up.

Yesterday I spent all day in the craft room, managed to get 2 blocks x3 done, New Brunswick and British Columbia, hurrah, 4 more to go..

Linda is saving me a trip to Barrie, she will pick up my ipad I left at the fabric shop on Wednesday, she had also contacted Newfoundland Tourism Board for maps aned Travel Booklet, things to do, places to go so will drop them off as well..won't be long, another month and we'll set off on another adventure..going to miss going to NorthDakota, South Dakota and Wyoming..

Gabbed with Darlene yesterday, she wants me to book a flight for few weeks in Florida at Christmas, we'll see

that's about all that's exciting here

hope you all have a sunshine day!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I am in a HUGE funk !!!
Took Lilly to the VEt, the tech and I went outside with her, Lilly had NOT 'peed' or eaten .. the young woman had a gizmo to plce under her to catch the urine, WELL, Lil was FRANTIC .. she pooped .. finally after 10 minutes of chasing her butt around, the young tech decided to try using the ultra sound and then inserting a small needle to withdraw urine .. there was none, she had obviously 'gone' when she went.
So .. they now have her kenneled, and I am SICK for her .. she is such a sweet dog .. but, like any Terrier, she is stubborn .. if she doesn't want to pee, she won't ..
HAve to call at noon ..

Uggggg

M are you sure that Duke has not morphed into Lilly ? Poor baby. (((M and Lilly)

Lovely day here. I need to get the lawn cut. I think I have come to terms with letting most of my flower gardens go. A neighbour will take some of the perennials and I will transplant some into the garden I am going to keep. I have fed the wildlife far too much.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Glad that Lorna has her new walker - frustrating that no one's gotten in touch with you re: the broken one......!!
Looking forward to seeing the bike "in action" in your garden!

British Columbia, Betty? Is that where quilt blocks are going, or you at some point? Nice that you're getting saved a trip to Barrie - great friend, is Linda
I know you're going to enjoy the east coast :-)

Thanks for the info on the Tumeric lol I should have read the page better! Golden Paste Milk sounds good!

Meeting up with a friend today, for lunch - looking forward to it.
We're going to have another yard sale tomorrow - hopefully it's as successful as last weekend's, and the 40% rain is just a blow-by and not bad
Another friend of mine called to say "Britain has left the UK", so I had to look it up, and I gather Britain has left Europe - WOW eh?

What IS the first day of Summer? Having trouble thinking this morning

This message was edited Jun 24, 2016 9:09 AM

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. I ave been to town to get lab work done, and got my nails done for the 4th.
Betty, My Sis and Dad are doing very well. Thanks for asking. My brother Roger flew from Washington a month ago to visit Dad. Dad was so glad to see him. I am thinking of going later this summer, or early fall.
Susan, First day of summer was June 20th, Monday. Good luck with your garage sale. Great Britain was under the ruling of Brussels. They voted to be an independent country. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32810887
Dianne, sorry you have to downsize your gardens.

Awww poor Lily must be soooooo scared.

Ha ha just got birthday greetings from Dave's Garden...They are sure on the ball.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Lindakay, love the nails, won't you look patriotic come July 4th. Canada day celebrations here in town start tonight..mega things going on.

would be nice for you to take extra days and visit me, could reciprocate your generosity when I was in Texas..read in the booklet Linda brought that USA citizens do not need passports to come and visit as long as they don't fly..or could meet up stateside again..pick fall!

Dianne, sorry about downsizing the gardens..it's a let down
I haven't yet done edging nor picking weeds yet, thank goodness I'm going for the country look, harder to seed weeds.

thinking of having a nap..imagine, I've not been outside yet, now I will have to work harder this afternoon to get what I need done.

Been cuttin out a buffalo for yet another block, feel I'm on a mission now that I'm so close to get the other four done, then it's mega appliqué time.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Lilly is home, and, they got a sample, so now we wait for the results ..
Took her to Dairy Queen for an ice cream .. she loved it, and I got so many sweet kisses, BUT .. she is having trouble with her back right leg/paw .. can hardly put weight on it, hops along on 3 feet ..will have to have a closer look .. we have mega millions of pine needles, am wondering if one has poked her .. or .. perhaps arthritis ..

Good luck with the blocs Betty ..

Susan, I have been following the UK situation .. I think it isn't good .. now, Scotland wants to have another vote to leave Great Britain and become a singular country, and, so does Wales .. this could be VERY ishy situation ..

Dianne .. I am letting my gardens go .. I cannot keep up .. no Lorna here to help and I refuse to let her do anything on weekends ..

Think I'm gonna go and turn the AC a bit less cool ..

BBL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I would love to come and visit, but if I go home, it will be for a short visit, 3 or 4 days.
"M", sorry to hear that Lilly is hurting. I hope it is nothing serious.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Understand Lindakay..

Hope results come back with good news for Lilly "M"

Wow, just cut the grass, weeding will wait till morning..
Mel dropped in, came to say they and a few friends are going to the beef bbq'ing dinner tonight at 6pm and would I like to go..normally I say no but it would beat cooking..band is setting up, already the tunes serenaded me while I was in the gardens..I don't have to stay for the dance so a wash up is necessary, do my hair

Think I too will put ac on

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Well .. got the call .. Lilly has a bladder infection, and, her other values are fine ..
She can also go back on the dogg anti inflammatory .. metacam ..
Pick it up and antibiotics tomorrow .. and, I told them I will not allow her to be chased for the spec next time, that DH and I would try to get it ourselves .. .. stay tuned and get your cameras out for that one LoL ..

Have fun Betty :-)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Poor Lilly - an infection AND a sore paw. Did you figure out what was causing it?
You're cutting back on your garden too?!?! Well, you'll have more time to enjoy the garden you're keeping and sit out in it with Lilly :-)

LK - thanks for the "1st day of summer" info lol imagine, summer started and I was clueless lol Those nails are lovely! I should get mine done for our Canada Day on the 1st! Actually, don't think I will - I don't take great care of them, so it would be a waste of $$, but I DO like your nails - very patriotic!

Dianne - I can just imagine how having to cut back on your garden must feel. Disappointing, to say the least......

Betty - how was the BBQ? Nice to not have to cook, f'sure!

I'm still looking for stuff for our upcoming Stampede. I know I have it....... packed "somewhere" lol I have a hat, skirt, blouse, boots, necklace & earrings. Can find the hat & ONE skirt, but had gotten a buckskin coloured one awhile ago that I really wanted to wear, and now having lost some weight I should be able to wear it nicely. IF I can find it lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Love the nails LK!! They wouldn't last long with me - I'm sort of rough with my hands sometimes and I can see them breaking already!!! LOL
Glad Lily is okay "M" and I wouldn't want them chasing her again either.
Sorry you are having garden issues Dianne - I know how much you enjoyed them but I think you will be happier without quite so much to tend . How are the turtles doing?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning ..
Waiting for a thunder storm to start up here .. probably in an hour or so.

Letting the gardens go back to grass isn't tough .. we have too many to care for (ME) .. about 7 I'd guess along with shrubs and trees .. and, all the grass to cut (4 acres)
Gord is going to WI for 10 days to see his bud, Gary, he's a Korean war vet .. we met him up here camping about 35 years ago, and, he and Gordon have been great friends ever since along with his family .. Gary is older and Gordon wants to see him as since he's been sick, he hasn't been down ..
I'm kind of nervous about being 'on my own', but Lorna is home before 5 .. surely I can keep myself busy ... just not WAY out back as the bear is still hanging around .

Lilly is holding her own, literally ! She is under our bed and comes out only when she feels like it !! TAKE THAT YOU MEAN HUMANS !! Imagine, taking me to the vet and having them CHASE me !!
Ugggg .. she can lay a trip on us like no one else !!!

Best get a move on before the storm hits ..

~M~

Verona, ON

Oh M poor little Lily. I was once charged $10.00 for a sterile 'pee' pan that was never used.T One of the vet techs and I wandered around outside for almost an hour and Ana still refused to go. Needless to say I scouted out another vet. Luckily for me and my pack a new young vet had just opened up in the village.

Safe travels for Gord. He'll be glad he made the trip. Two cousins from the village were in Korea - 1 came home and 1 didn't.The night before the 1 cousin Mitch saw the other pass by - had a quick moment to talk then off they went - last contact the 2 cousins had. I am sure Gord's friend will be very glad to see him.

All the wild fires has spurred me to read a second book about the Granite Ridge Hotshots out of Arizona. Brave and daring young men. 19 went up the mountain and only 1 came back. This second book is equally as good as the first 1 I read.

Need to have a shower but must remember no strong smelling shampoo. Am going to go get strawberries. I don't know if we have to pick or not. Since I am going with 2 older ladies I bet they ordered pre picked berries.

bbl with strawberries.

How the TH KNOW i am going out and they aren't continues to baffle me.

Morning all,

Slep in, music went on till 1:00 so difficult to sleep...

Going to be 86 today so need to get all my running around done before noon..still have groceries and weed eater work so am on the run, read all your posts, be back on a break

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - the serenading was a bit too loud, I take it..... I'm not surprised it lasted until 1am, Younger people than we like to party hearty, just we used to, at their age.. Oh well, peace & quiet for me, too! Bill & Linda asked if would be able to handle the quiet life in Torrington - YES!! Bob & I like to live quiet lives, so it will be perfect. We can watch tv in winter, I can do crafting, and in the summer - well that just is understood - GARDENING lol
I'm so looking forward to country life in a small community. It's just what we need.

Poor Lilly, and poor you with the "guilt trip syndrome" lol I can just picture it - her hot gaze glaring out at you - Mean Humans!! How Dare You!! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hoping Susan the move will be all you are hoping for, how long before you hear from municipality that funding has been approved?

I can still Susan hold my own re partying/dancing IF music is ok..

Think it's a country and western band this afternoon then credence revival type music tonight.

Was out finishing raking the topsoil that was delivered, putting down more grass seed and watering..Greg dropped in and reminded me about his pool party this afternoon, had forgotten about it so its inside for a sandwhich, bath and dress up again..not sure about the party tonight..we will see

Kick myself for not purchasing a July 1st planter for Mel, might just take a quick ride into town again and pick one up for her..may a cooler or two for me..planters were reasonable $7.99

Been off the computer couple days. Thanks for the information about turmeric also about the health food store. My DD who is 62 has fibromyalgia, arthritis, and chronic fatigue. I feel so bad for her. Hope this will help her.
Hope all your animals are well. I need to get out and weed some. hugs, EEH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

welcome back, Liz!
lol I could be your DD too - I just turned 62 in March :-)

Betty - there is no funding approval. Calgary will pay for the move & demolition of extra buildings here. In the community we're moving to, we are waiting for them to approve our move-in. After the municipality meets on July 28th, they then put it in the rural newspaper for the residents of the township to put in any objection to us moving in. They have 2 weeks to voice an objection. It has never happened, but they have the opportunity to do so.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I guess it's official - my DG membership runs out on July 9th. I really only chat in this room - wonder if it will disappear from my threads, or if it's one of the "unpaid" one?!?! Anyone know how to find out?

Verona, ON

Just got home from a morning and afternoon out with 2 friends. We are going to be called the Merry Widows soon. Had a wonderful lunch in Napanee right on the river. Maryl had called last night and ordered 3 4l baskets 1 for each of us. - strawberries are out of this world taste wise. We also stopped at the tomato lady's home and got some nice looking maters.Needless to say I am not going out to cut the lawn now.

Very hot here. My hooligans are laying on the AC floor vents and do not want to go out for long.

Betty our local Rona has red and white planters on for $7.99 too. They look lovely.

Oh Susan I hope your move goes well with no fuss.

How's Lily M ? has she forgiven you ? Is Lorna off for the weekend? I can't believe all the trouble she is getting from that guy who is 'supposed' to be an expert.

Barb good to see you popping in. Do you and Norm have plans for July 4 ? Canada Day here is July 1. We always did a show on the July long weekend and man it could get hot. When it is hot sales are always down for 2 reasons. It is too hot and people just want to walk somewhere that is cooler and # 2 they don't wear a lot of clothes so there is no place to put your money. You might laugh at that but it is true. We did this show at Kew Beach in the east end of Toronto. The first time we did it we were like this is not going well... all these almost naked bodies walking by all of the booths. People who had done the show before said to us 'just wait until tomorrow morning'. All these nearly naked people came back dressed and ready to buy on Sunday. They scope things out the first day when they are walking their dogs.

Going to see if the pups are interested in eating.

Dianne and her TH

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOW WOW WOW ................. Lorna and I went to the greenhouse she deals with, it's out here in the country .. she had an order of perennials to pick up for a bed at the cemetery ..
We pulled into the driveway, and there were some very happy customers running about ..
Karen .. the owner waved at us and said all the flats on that side of the greenhouse are a dollar... $1. .... well ... Lorna got some beautiful Snapdragons, Marigolds and Petunias .. plus, Karen DONATED 4 flats to the cemetery !!!
And here we were just going to sit and play cards today as it's stormy .. .. right place, right time ..

Susan .. I think you can read the posts, but can't reply? Not sure ..
My membership goes out in August .. I do think we got a month extra due to the mix up a while back with the site ..
Sounds as though things are jelling as far as your move goes ..
Hope your yard sale went well ..

Liz .. hugs for your DD .. .. one of the WORST things about these auto immune diseases is the horrifying FATIGUE ..sometimes it's an effort to talk !
If she's 'online, on FBook .. have her join the Psoriatic Arthritis support group .. it is a wonderful support ..

Lilly took her first antibiotic and a dose of anti inflamm a bit ago ... hope she gets some relief ... she seems to have lost trust in all of us after that pee catch fiasco !!

Another storm is fast approaching ..I best get on with stuff ..
The top of my left foot is killin me .. no idea why..

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

July 9th is with my extension.
The way I understood it is that if you don't pay, you can't view. I will be able to see & view Canadian sites, but not those in US.
I remember when my membership ran out a few years ago, I could no longer see certain threads.

btw - just found out that our phone # will change when we move. We'd thought, as we're going back to a previous company that was our phone co before (2 1/2 years ago) that we'd be able to return to it, BUT all of Torrington has the same first 3 #s and within that set, there isn't the last 4 #s we're used to. So, it will be an easy to remember #, but totally different (except for the area code lol)

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

If your membership expires you can't even see this forum. Mine lapsed for about a week before I broke down and resubscribed, and I was concerned that the entire forum had been erased, that was during the time the entire site was messed up, but I broke down and paid, and it all reappeared! I hope you will decide to stay, Susan, but understand if you don't.

Dianne, I was just reading on facebook that you can cook strawberries in your oven.

Yes Susan, I cold be your Mother. I usually say Debbie is older than I claim to be. LOL. I have 3 younger children. The youngest is 51.
Wish I could try the turmeric but guess not since I'm still taking the blood thinner.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, have a vomiting attack again..hope next I post it won't be from the hospital again..grrr

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers for you Betty.

Verona, ON

Thanks LK. If I keep eating these berries I won't have any left to worry about. But we are going back either later this week or beginning of next week. July 1 is a civic holiday here so lots of people will be out picking then. Warren and I used to go to the same place and pick our berries. The 2 ladies I go with prefer NOT to pick but order them the night before. I am not complaining about not picking. When I was at the IGA most of the students who worked there also picked berries at the same place for darn good money. So they would work picking in the am and start work any time after 12 noon.

WOW that is a deal for the flats of flowers M. Lorna must have been in flower heaven . I have come to terms with letting the flower beds go this year . I will just weed around the perennials and transplant them later into the 1 garden I will keep. I could weed 4 - 5 hours every day and still be needing more time to do the plants justice. Warren did far more than I ever gave him credit for....... he couldn't bend but would get the hoe and loosen up the weeds for me to pull.

The AC is on and it is a lovely 68*F. The TH have finally moved off the floor vents but still do not want to go out and play.

I think I got 4 - 6 weeks added onto my membership. Anyway for $20.00 I get such joy out of DG. Living as isolated as I do some days especially in the winter you all are the only human contact I have.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh Betty - I SURE hope you don't get those vomiting fits again and have to go to the hospital!!!

Deb - I doubt it - my mom's 97 and in a care home.

I'll just have to contact DG and see if they'll do what they've done before - renewed my membership. They did it once before when I couldn't. Wish our upcoming move and renovations, we're watching every penny.
I'm not expecting any member angels here, so please don't, bu perhaps DG admins will help. DG will help with a few memberships here & there.
I'll let you know.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Betty ..how are you? I hope the vomiting let up ..

Dianne .. strawberries here are not even trying, however, after last nights storms, and 2'' of rain with some heat today .. well, by the time DH comes home he'll be ready to go and pick a couple of baskets ..
LK, saw that method on FBook and am going to try it :-)

VERY scary day here in the NW yesterday .. Thunder Bay lived up to its name, and, then some ..
Were under TStorm warnings most of the day and evening, and now, it's beautifully sunny and bright, and the flowers are bathing in the warmth of the sun ..

Planning to try and do a bit of yard work, want to get 'the bike' set up ..

Pics later :-)
