Marilynne - I'm glad that Lorna & her Mom are ok........ both non-complaintive, right? Yes, it would be difficult for Lorna's dad if anything were to happen to his wife....... he'd be lost, for sure. I pray for the whole family - that there be no injuries and they look out for one another.

Karen - so glad that the cleanup isn't as bad as you thought. After 4 years being there, it could be worse.

Dianne - glad Chaos is ok - vet's bills can be outrageous, but for our furries, we'll do anything. Hope your back is better.

Thanks for the well-wishes re: our move. I'm getting nervous and having trouble sleeping again - had to take something to sleep last night. Boy, it was cold.
I just have no idea what we'll run into at the walk through, or the clean-up....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Glad to hear Lorna is doing o k, bad news about h ER mom though.
Susan, its not a wonder your nerves are bad and you are not sleeping, am sure somewhere in your mind you are remembering all the times you were positive about moving then not. Heard you mention Bob was home, is he back at work?..

Not humid here Lindakay, nice breeze and high 60's, perfect day...iLife to see more photo's of your gardens, a tease until we northerners can show ours.

Thunder, loved the photo's, bet you are missing the family already! still planning on selling and moving North??

Quick drop in, up early, promised myself if I went to Meaford I would work on the pond when I got home..yuk yuk Sooo am heading out even if it's for an hour or so, put my oldest grubbiness on as I'm sure t o smell like the swamp lady when I finish the lean up...love the sounds of water feature but is a lot of work, sigh

Was surprised the traffic wasn't heavier then it was...such a beautiful view of Georgian bay, pretty much to my right the entire trip..Dianne, you would not recognize the place, so much development, high end homes/condos.

The metal arch/bench had been sold, teaches me for not buying it when I saw it..
I did buy a 6' piece though of decorative metal art..will buy a vine in hopes is covers most of it..have all kinds of battery operated candles (better when one has a kitty)
But I wanted a beige one where the wick moves, more realism..when I bought the Orange, then red one for Christmas I should have just bought white, it would have done for all seasons, pay more when you buy them at the Candle Factory $36 but worth it, they had a metal child's desk so I bought it, wasn't sure where I'd put it, after she took all the decor off and doily I didn't h Abe the nerve to say I didn't want it..here the top was painted with a snowman, my thoughts now is if I find a p lace to put it I will cut a piece, same size as the top, paint a design on it and voila, an interesting piece.

Bought 2 hummingbird feeders, blown glass Nd a nice top, like I need more tops right??

Also bought a large cranberry candle in white vase, lit it, smells lovely in here..

Out to the pond for a tad

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Welcome to THUNDER BAY !!!!!!!!!

Air conditioning on at noon as the temps were in the high 80s with a SW wind .. went to the cemetery to look at the plants, Lorna SO wanted to water them ..
Came home, sitting outside under an umbrella and out of the suns heat ..
Got things ready for an outdoor dinner .. it was SO warm ..
3pm .. BOOM .. wind changed direction and started coming from the east off the lake, by 3:30pm we had jackets on ..
4pm .. DELUGE .. not predicted anywhere .. and, still raining .. bizarre ..

Getting ready to watch the Preakness, Lorna is betting on
'CHERRY HILL .. I am taking 'NYQUIST', and her Dad is taking "EXAGGERATOR" ...
All those horses do well in rain and a muddy track .. and, it's raining in Baltimore ..

Later :-)

~M~

Betty, your purchases sound awesome :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cooled down here quickly as well "M"
There is enough horses mentioned I'm sure one of you will be a winner..do you put $$$ in a pot?

Running my bath, yep I smell like a swamp lady, I am filling the pond and will empty tomorrow and refill so water is nice and clean..

With running water in the pond taking forever to fill the tub..lordy I need some smelliest to soak in..

Forgot to mention, also bought some batiques for the "my canada" quilts, hard to find blues for water and sky, hoping what I bought will give me a few more blocks..

Enjoy your bbq "M"

Betty 1 of the best things about doing Meaford was the drive along the road with the waterfront. We could see each year where 1 cottage had been was now a McMansion with no lot. There used to be a little pink cottage that was always there. It looked like it was built in the early 50's and I always used to cheer when we saw it. The last year Warren went by himself. When he got home almost before he got out of the Escape he had to tell me the little cottage was gone. Oh the tears just leaked out of my eyes.

Got most of the lawn cut with me using the lawn mower as a walker. I left the hardest part till tomorrow or Mon. It is the sloped part of the yard that goes down to the lake.

Have had 2 hot baths/shower and these muscles are not giving in. You could bounce a coin off my back the muscles are so tight. Maybe tomorrow I will loaf around after I clean the Escape. I should just send it in to be detailed it is such a mess. I got the floor mat out that Chaos blessed with all the contents of his stomach on his way home from the vet.I used spot shot and will do it again in the morning.

Either Diesel or Chaos or both need to go back to the vet and get an attitude adjustment. They are just terrible with each other. I think Chaos is still suffering from his emotional week.

When I took Diesel and Duke to the vet it was $500 and that did not include their shots. They have to have another blood test after the meds are finished and then maybe another round of meds.

Simply glorious day here. M you keep all the weather up there please. I am assuming your wee one will be put right out for the dental work. If you are like me you will feel every bit of her dental work.

LK I just loved all your photos of your flowers. You just have to be happy with all that colour around you.

Betty we have both hot and cold taps outside. We had them put in at the farm house and they were put in here in 2 spots. Initially it was to help me scrub down and clean larger pieces of SG. Then it morphed into bathing the dogs and then it was great to have when we were either doing wood or working in the garden. I have always admired those outside showers people have ... what a great idea.

Barb what are you up to this weekend?

It is a long weekend here so lots of traffic on Hwy 38 plus on the lake. Most people don't realize how well their voices carry when they are in a boat. Pickerel I think you call it Walleye in the US opened this weekend. I get a kick out of listening to the kids especially those fishing for the first time. Today I took the boys down to the dock when I heard 1 little guy say I bet those dogs are mean. They sound mean .. well that was all I needed to hear. Of course TH would do anything for a pet. The eyes of all of the guys in the boat were huge when they saw the TH. I laughed and said bring your boat close to the dock and you can pet them. They were hesitant at first but realized the TH were not going to bite were all in. I did explain to them it would be another matter if the came to the door.

Betty - so sorry you didn't get the bench you wanted to!

It's not the "move or not move" of our tenants - I'm just dreading the walk through and his attitude. He intimidates me and he knows it. The lawyer suggested that I don't get confrontational with him, but I know he's going to do so with us.
And of course packing isn't the easiest, but I made the biggest step today.
btw - on Tues, after the long weekend, I'm going to talk to our security company and see how much an external camera will cost. Likely more than we can afford, so maybe I'll get one of those "fake" ones installed - get the installer to pretend to install it LOL I really don't trust Marcel & his temper........

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Most security companies include a one camera option with a new installation. The problem is they (the company) are not monitoring your camera. It's so you can see what's going on via your smart device. We have cameras in case we want to check on the house while we are away and if an alarm goes off. Lots of glass here, including all the doors, so we have glass breakage devices which is more likely to happen than a door lock being breached. They will go off with high frequency like glass cutting or a loud noise. Mine go off if a bird hits the glass.

Betty, I too love the sound of water in my little pond. Hope you do get a garden in. I'm already enjoying fresh basil and spring rosemary. Lots of chard, kale, collards and mustard. I'll be canning greens this week as they are at the end of their cool season.

Marilynne, I'm not sure about your weather. It's freezing most of the year and then awful? Frankly not alluring.

Off to Maypop with a box full of homegrown tomato seedlings to plant.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning ..
Have been up for a good while .. we have a very CHIRPY Robin that starts at 6am .. he/she is still twittering away .. I swear it's an alarm clock for the Westies LoL

A beautiful sunny morning, cool right now, but, anticipating a high near 80F ..things are finally turning lush ..

Dianne, I am a basket case re our Lilly having this surgery .. she was our first Westie, and, I love her so .. but, I saw the tooth myself, and, it needs to come out .. will also be having her chipped while she is out, and, if OK with the vet, her shots .. she is NOT a passive terrier to strangers .. and, anything I can do to make her life easier, I will do it ..
Ahhhhhhhhh .. 'dog people' WE are a different breed LoL

There is a coffee brewed for me, and I am going outside to drink it ... seems the Blue Jays have now joined in with the Robin choir :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,
What a spectacular day today...

Laurel, must check to see if walmart is open tomorrow seeing it's holiday Monday, if so I will go get the soil needed to fill in the area I could put some veggie plants and seed..have my list of todo's for today, if done early I may venture out later this afternoon..still concerned about possible frost though. Could get the the area ready and wait a week before planting.

Susan Rogers has a system, think it's fairly inexpensive, but as Laurel says its if anyone tries to break in a window or door, would think that would give you piece of mind.

Dianne, next time I go to Meaford I'll take my camera and take some photo's of the growth, as you say NOT average homes but mansions.so glad you explained that if you were approached at home the TH wouldn't be as inviting. Smiling, attitude adjustment, is that possible for either diesel or chaos?

Just took my coffee out and enjoyed a walk around the yard, all coming together, now I can start looking at weeds with an 'I'll get you' stare..thing about a country garden is the odd weed gets lost amongst the flowers.

The rusted iron tower and desk are still in my car which needs a good cleaning, wonder if I could fit one in but before I do so I must tidy up craft room

You miss 1/2 the morning while Waiting for the grass to dry and sun to warm things up

Hope it's a sunshine day in your neighbourhood.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Susan my DD has a neighbor who is bat crazy and was screaming obscenities at her cake customers. Her hubby put up video cameras but then she made signs saying. "Warning this property protected by audio and video cameras" The cameras are NOT audio but they sure shut the neighbor up. Maybe you just need signs that you have cameras and not actual cameras. I'm betting you can buy the signs.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Wish I lived closer, Susan. There are always mispainted, damaged, obsolete camera housings, domes, and positioners in the recycling bin at work. I could set you up real good with reject parts!

Had a great day yesterday, accomplished nothing, but went to my brother's place. What was going to be a quick visit turned in to a long afternoon. Weather was gorgeous, no mosquitos, just sitting and talking, watching horses in the pasture, and the occasional tractor driving down the road. He needs to have another surgery, and this was probably my last chance to visit before then. I hope he behaves himself after this surgery. When he had his surgery that removed half his liver and a section of small intestine because of cancer last year, he was told not to lift. He is the only one working, he has a book selling business, and needs to deliver books to the post office. A month after that surgery he was lifting totes full of books, I guess he ripped open stitches in the muscle layer, and he has a huge hernia that extends across his entire stomach. My sister in law and nephew (who is 17) did nothing to help him with the business, and his thought was it needed to be done and no one else would do it, so he did it himself! He's told me no one will help this time either, he has to shut down his business, and hope they can survive with no income while he is healing. It is beyone me how they can be like that. My nephew has autism, but does go to a normal school and functions fairly well, but has been spoiled all this life, he's a monster they created, and my sis in law is just useless, she got laid off two years ago from a job she had for a long time, and never even looked for another job.

Today I need to get laundry done, house cleaned, car cleaned, and get some of the big things I need for my trip loaded (dog crates, grooming table, etc). I know I won't get much done after work, and would like to leave by 5am on Thursday for Colorado. Will stay there and travel to Wyoming for the dog shows with my friend who lives in Loveland. Better get moving!!

Deb

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LOL Love the comments re: cameras - esp shutting the neighbours up!!
I hope we can get a freebie install of a fake camera......
Bob says you can get those signs - we'll look into it :-D
We have a sign from the security company saying the place is monitored, but that's not the same, is it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, not a call earlier to say my niece's 18 year old boyfriend was stabbed to death in Wasaga beach..on my way home in Wasaga beach a police and ambulance vehicle went by and I thought, some poor family will get a difficult call..wonder if it washe.

Apparently it was a confrontation at a pizza parlour..not much more info right now

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No Susan sign needs to say there is video camera monitoring. If nothing else it will drive them nuts trying to find it.

Verona, ON

Is Wasaga Beach still a fav hangout for older teens and people in their 20's ? What is wrong with these youngsters ? When we were that age it was either just words or a pop to someone's face.

Stuck to my guns and didn't do anything except read and fold laundry. Perfect day were weather wise. I kept thinking I should get out there and weed.

Karen I chuckled at your comment that it would drive people nuts trying to find it. My closest neighbour - the huge home that has been for sale for over a year has just left her sign about video monitoring. She says basically the same thing plus she knows my TH and I are down her way several times a day.

The TH are all chipped so I could breathe a small sigh of relief .if1 of them ran off.
M I too get myself all worked up when 1 of the pups has a procedure. My vet asks you to call if you want around noon. I'm right there waiting to call right at noon.

I just came back from my closest neighbour doing a welfare check for her DD. DD was trying to call her mom and there was no answer. Turns out that Mary Lynne was outside battling some shrubs with her small chain saw.and couldn't hear the phone. We decided we both needed to get away so tomorrow we will go out for lunch. Her DH died suddenly the same year Warren died.

Deb you had me chuckling about something that happened when we were staying at a hotel. There was a dog show that weekend as well as my niece's wedding. On Sunday morning as we were making our way out of the parking lot I heard this groaning and sighing coming from a van. As we got to the van I burst out laughing the noises were coming from the van - there stood a woman brushing her dog. Not what I thought was happening at all.

Duke just put himself into his crate .....I best get out there and see what he did.

LK how are you today ?

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

That reminds me Dianne of that commercial for sight impairment, couple are trying to fit a chesterfield in the elevator, lots of moaning and groaning, if you couldn't see you would think for sure it is mating season.

Will be nice for you and MaryLynne to get out tomorrow, weather is suppose to be spectacular..

Big grin, smart boy that duke, giving you heads up that he was into mischief.

Just had my bath, was out cutting trees/shrubs that overtook the edge of the pond, talk about a truck load of branches..have a few more shrubs to move then the area is clear for slate..thinking if wind dies down I could burn then I the pit..we will see if I'm still awake.

Verona, ON

Betty CITY TV had the stabbing as the first item on the 6 pm news. Tragic.

All 3 of the TH are out on the deck expressing their dislike of the fire works that are going off. It's not even dark yet. There are no large fireworks display in this area so people buy their own and set them off willy nilly.Makes for a long night.

Sweet dreams if I don't get back.
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

I missed it Dianne, will gab with Sharon tomorrow.
Street fireworks were lit last night, omg can't even think how many $$ were spent..can hear a few going off, can't see the point when it's light out
sailor was so frightened of them..TH will likely be on your lap

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

NO fireworks allowed in TBay .. fire ban is on .. BUT .. I do believe there will be a display of them out on the water ..
However .. some door knob out this way, let off 5 fire crackers around 2am this morning, and we had 3 wide awake dogs who were NOT happy .. as well ,, the dog about half a mile away was also barking in disgust ..
Can only hope that's all we'll get ..don't want to go to bed worrying that the woods will go up in flames !!!

Looks to be another gorgeous day here ..
OMG Betty .. I used to go to Wasaga Beach .. how awful !

Lorna fell yesterday while putting her leg on .. it's quite the deal putting a prosthetic on .. anyway the leg buckled under her, and her stump came out and down she went on it ..
She was angry (old prosthetic), embarrassed (we had to help her up, and shaken .. her stump is now very sore and she is so disappointed .. I am furious as well .. but .. and I HATE this, we are STUCK here with the one prosthetist and ages old equipment for making these prosthetics .. AND .. way too many patients !

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Not fond of the fireworks here either, my poor dogs do their best to hide.

Awww I feel so badly for Lorna. we so went through all that when my friend was living with us. It's so frustrating, my friend couldn't trust hers to walk with it at all.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I so wish there were something that could be done for Lorna. Is the prosthesist the problem? If it is money, maybe a GoFundMe page would help. This is so wrong.....Especially since Lorna is trying so hard to do for herself and is not one of those who just sit around being waited on.... I feel so bad.

Sorry about the loss of the young man Betty. What a shame. I, too, wonder where all this antagonism is leading. It seems the young people of today feel they have the right to whatever they want no matter the consequences. They have no respect for anyone including themselves.

Enjoy your lunch out Dianne.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, gorgeous day here as well

Lordy "M" what a terrible situation Lorna is dealing with, she must be overwhelmed knowing she can't trust her leg, if she keeps falling she is bound to injure herself.

There were a lot of firecrackers, lit the sky..thought Saturday night display was grand but the one that started about midnight was its equal.

Had the Betty "guards" on the lookout already this morning!
Got up early and decided to go to Walmart for groceries, came back and Rita is in the yard after having checked things out inside
She was texting the other girls who had texted me but didn't get a reply, tried calling as well, so rita living the closest came to check things out..best I learn even when grocery shopping I call someone to say whT I'm up to so they don't worry.

Rita said I looked tired and frail so taking it easy today is a must soooo will try to do as told, all except lighting the fire pit, the rest can wait until tomorrow

Hope you've great weather, enjoy the day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
So sorry to hear about Lorna falling. I pray she is not too sore.

More of what's blooming. Betty, do you see your turtle you sent me years ago, behind the pink roses.

Looking great Linda!! I can picture the petunias and the zinnias all filled out and gorgeous! LOVE YOUR ROSES.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Your gardens are beautiful Lindakay and yes I see the turtle..now are the flowers in their prime right now or will the continue to bloom all summer? You certainly have a way with roses..perfection is the word that comes to mind.

I burnt my 1st load of branches, just filled it up with last load, hopefully tonight I'll have a bonfire.

This afternoon I will go out and dig and move the last of the plants from the side of the pond that will have the slate patio..I won't have pretties to share until end of June..just some wildflower at present..

So enjoy looking at photo's of your gardens

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen .. you are so correct.
Lorna will NOT walk without canes or a walker .. she simply does not feel SAFE and SECURE, no matter how good the suction is .. makes my heart cry foe her and the many like her ..

Took the sheers down in the master bedroom .. OMG .. dusty or what .. then, I took down the mini blind, NOT so mini .. dang thing is about 3 feet wide .. got myself in a real pickle with it, but, managed to get it outside and have washed it .. feel better as I was able to wash the big window ..
Lorna is going to vacuum the screens outside as opposed to taking them out .

DH put up my Hummingbird banner .. if I GET A CHANCE i'LL TAKE A PIC .. get this, I had to hand sew it to the t helps it turn around in the wind, and, I used dental floss LoL figured it'd be stronger :-)

Looks like rain here tomorrow .. we'll see ..

Off n running .. was just in to check the weather ..

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Roses will continue to bloom all summer. Some of them never died back over the winter, they just kept blooming. But I cut them all back a few months ago. They are growing so fast.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Feeling so bad for Lorna..........
Betty if they're saying you look frail, you'd better rest and figure out how to build yourself up again.
Sorry if I missed anyone....... you are all in my thoughts.

I'm just fuming.......
We went next door to our mobile yesterday, because our neighbour needed us to witness some papers for him.
our able bodied tenants are getting what they want.
They've moved out of our home (last Wed), and refuse to let us move back in - they're contacting the Residential Tenancy, and threaten to take us to court - they haven't paid their May rent, either. I'm starting to tell their neighbours how they're treating us........ Tried to be Christian and not drag this story into the muck they've created, but this is getting worse and worse. :grumbling:
We're calling our lawyer tomorrow (after the long weekend) and see if we can change the locks. There's nothing of theirs in the home.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We had to get ours to say they had moved out, then it was ours again. They never paid rent either. We can take them to court and would win, but collecting would be up to us.
BTW last Wed. was when ours moved out too. Mail carrier took their mail from the box today and left a vacant notice at our request. Check with utilities too if they dropped them from their name.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yeah, my daughter said that they hadn't admitted that they'd moved out.
I'll talk to the lawyer to see if they can advise the wording to get them to admit it.
They did accept May 31st as the day they'd be out, but as they've already moved, it would be easier to clear this place and move into ours, of course.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning .. from, RAINY (finally) Thunder Bay .. off n on showers all through the night, and, it's already 60F
Lorna will go to work , that way she'll be paid,as opposed to calling and asking if she should go in .. since Monday was a holiday, the rule of thumb is that to get paid for it, even though you don't actually work it, you must work the day before (in her case Friday, and, after , Tuesday ..

Susan .. did the tenants BUY a home ? I would have thought they would have asked you for a reference for the new landlord ..
Just good to hear they are gone ..

LK ... the pics are wonderful .. we are breaking out in greenery here now .. wonderful to see ..

Waving hiya to Betty, Dianne, Barb, Sharon, Deb and Debbie and Judy .. everyone

Morning all,

Few of the girls coming today, they usually leave around noon, buy then. The predicted 70 should be welcoming me outside.

Susan, all so confusing, they will give you problems right to the last day won't they? Not understanding, are they trying to make it that you can't move in as planned??
"m" wouldn't the working the day before and after not come into played if it's raining and she can't work ..guess if she shows up and has to go home that is all that is needed.

Talk about a wasted day yesterday, nothing but couch time..am hoping that Andrew comes and finishes the pond this week so I can get the last of the major yard work done

Garbage day so best I get it to the curb side before the girls arrive.

Hooe it's a sunshine day in your neighbourhood

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Amazing thing with tenants. Ours too made everything as difficult as they possibly could. Sometime I wonder if it's worth being kind to people. I'm sure they would be delighted to learn how much extra they have cost us in addition to what we had planned to spend. Our tenants moved into another rental, possible arranged by one of their parents. I'm pretty sure they are having to spend more for rent as I have seen nothing other than a 1 bedroom apartment for less than we were charging them. Now they are learning what a good deal they had here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Sounds like most of you are up and busy already. Just got my coffee made.

Here in Texas, most renters, have you fill out an application, and they demand to see y our tax files for the last 3 years, as well as your bank statements for the past 6 months. The need proof you are earning enough money to afford the place you are trying to rent. And housing assistance is almost extinct now.

Verona, ON

Morning everyone. Haven't been to bed yet ... I have the heebee jeebees. I hate when I get them as it usually means something bad is going to happen.

Had a delightful tome out with ML yesterday. She wanted to go to this Italian place we have been at before but it was closed as was her second choice. We ended up going to the Cavalier Room in 1 of the hotels. Excellent lunch and great company. I couldn't figure out why the waitress kept circling our table. Checked my watch and lo and behold we had been there almost 4 hours..

The TH is also very antsy. Don't know if they are picking up on my state of mind.Of course they tailed me through the house as I paced the floor. I am downstairs with the TH as my cleaning lady is here. I just looked over and all 3 are sound asleep on the futon.

Someone from TO came to look at the big house that is for sale on the lane.Strange vehicle so I went out with Diesel to stop them on their way out. The guy was quite taken aback that I would stop him. Of course the sight of Diesel all 130 lb had them wary. When they told me they had just looked at the big house I asked them how they liked what they saw on the lane. They were flabbergasted to see the wild turkeys. When I explained why I stopped them they really liked the idea that we all looked out for each other. Then the asked "Are you Dianne ?" Why
