Up .. no 'at'em' yet .. movin slow .. that'll be my pace today ..
Don't know how to approach what I saw yesterday . I most certainly am not a racist or a bigot, but, here in Thunder Bay, to see what I witnessed puts a different slant on things.
We have few Muslims here (at least I think that way) yesterday when I was parked in the clinic parking lot waiting for DH .. a van pulled in across from me .. the fellow driving was swarthy and had a huge black beard .. the woman in the van with him had the 'whole deal' on .. not a Burka, but a black dress/gown and veil across her face .. he sat there while she rousted FIVE kids under the age of about 7, out of the van and into the clinic .. the smallest being in a baby carrier .. I kept waiting for him to get out and help her, but, he sat playing on his iPhone ..oblivious to her plight .. mind you, the children did listen to her ..
Anyway .. as I said, it was an oddity for me (and others) to see the garb, and the scenario ..
Off to have our taxes done this morning .. pink eye and all .. the drops have helped though :-)
I'm fallin apart!!!
Take care everyone ..
~M~
Karen .. wouldn't Lake Michigan be really cold now? Mind you .. best time to catch Northern and Walleye ..
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new
I'm pretty sure it is "M". We are on a smallish inland lake, Too cold still also except for Molly, we let her have her first swim Sunday and she was so excited she just raced down the hill. She loves to hunt for minnows.
Sorry to hear you have pink eye on top of your crud. Maybe time for you to see the doc?
We have a few muslims here, but they are active duty male pilots on the base learning to fly the jets. Now if you go to San Antonio, we see them all dressed up now and then, but in Houston there is a huge community of them.
Hey everyone. Another glorious day. Worked on the land going down to the lake Had 3 supervisors. I have to chuckle they are all afraid of the leaf blower yet the vacuum is fine.
Ouch on the pink eye M. Years ago as a teacher if you contracted pink eye you were given 3 days off and nothing was taken away from your sick days. That has gone by the wayside now. Sure would rather deal with pink eye than lice.
I was so glad to see you post Barb. What a wonderful family you have. Is your email addy the same?
Need to get into the village and stop at the PO. Parcel from Amazon is waiting. New books...I can hardly wait.
Dianne and her TH
Hey Dianne, glad to hear your getting some work done. Probably not as much as you would like with your supervisors! :)
No whoopdy-doo's allowed!
Pink eye is responding to meds .. THANK YOU :-)
Got the taxes in, just a couple of things missing ..
Tomorrow, Lilly and Piper get groomed, and Zoey will have to be on her own as Lorna has to be at the hosp for a cortisone shot for 8am and, then she goes (fingers crossed) to get her new leg !!
DH and I will be with the dogs, she will be on her own ..
Dianne enjoy your books .. and enjoy the nicer weather ..
LK .. seems you're feeling OK .. so happy you didn't get the heavy rains !! ..
Waving to everyone
~M~
Betty - thanks for the joke in Tubby's honour - what a GREAT guy he was, and Shirley just got onto the computer because he was, or was it the other way around? I think he did first. And WHAT a joker lol he always kept me in stitches (pun).
oh Marilyne - good thing you still have those drops. I can't remember if I've ever had pink eye, but it's annoying if nothing else, I hear.
The sun is shining, the grass is greening, and it's 79 right now - wooooooo hoooooo is my Spring fever ever hitting!
Right about now I would normally be out on the deck getting it ready for mid-June planting. Lots to do to clean away the winter blech. Well, we had a mild winter, but I don't know what state the deck's in. We'll see in June, I guess.
Went to knee surgeon yesterday and can't have surgery yet, because of my embolisms. I'm to make an app't beg of July to see him in beg of Sept. Then we can schedule a surgery date.
In the meantime I got a cortisone shot yesterday in my right knee and next Monday I'll have one in my left knee. Feeling good - Spring, and cortisone lol
Still getting monitored once a week for my warfarin levels, but they seem to be good - right on target. Hope on June 21st that they say "you're ok - no more warfarin". Here's hoping.
I'm enjoying day by day - funny how near-death will make you ENJOY life so much more, and make you carefree :-)
Poor Bob LOL he says I've made him into an old woman - watching my every move to make sure I'm ok. I want to go to Walmart tomorrow, on my own and he says "no - you might fall or hurt yourself with your knees and I don't want you relying on a stranger to help you!" Well, I guess I've been TOLD lol
WISHING EVERYONE A GREAT DAY ..
UP EARLY TO GET READY TO GET THE DOGS OUT AND lORNA OFF, SHE'S LEAVING DARNED early to get a parking space near the hospital .. sad situation when the handicap parking is all taken and folks have to walk a quarter of a mile or more .. unreal.
DH and I were going to drop her off, but, 3 adults and 2 dogs in a car is a bit much .. and, after her shot she is off to have her new leg done .. we hope !
Enjoy your day
~M~
Praying that Lorna gets her new leg.
Yeah, know what it's like to have all the handicapped parking taken. We've parked near the door (with our card on the mirror) and not had any fuss made about it.
Hope your day is great, too :-)
it's no good - thinking about Jaye, and worried for her. I know she's in the hospital, and in ICU (or maybe she has a room now). She's supposed to stay in maybe one more day.
Her surgery didn't go well (2nd stent to be put in), so they're watching her carefully.
I hope by the time I post this that she's doing better and is in her room
Praying for her.
Morning
Sending prayers Susan that Jayne is on the road of recovery, she sure has had a time of it..we met in Cincinnati a few years back she's a dear..been rough road for her and now add in health issues, we'll just plain overwhelming.
"m" here is hoping Lorna comes home happy with her new leg..did the get finally divy in and help financially, know the fight for that was ongoing.
Susan, tubby was on dog, Shirley came on to update is as he got weaker, weaker and until his death.
Dianne, I'm sure you will come up with right decision re the dock, for years after Roger passed I'd spend mega time second guessing myself and wondering what he would have done
In for a break, been outside for 2 hrs..mad at myself big time but I know myself I how could I expect anything else..suppose to wait for manpower to take slate and rocks out of the pond ready for it to be filled in..Noah couldn't come, tried a few other sources, no go Sooo I don't have the patience to wait, got the top layer of slate taken off, later today I'll do a tad more, shaking my head, I know, no brains!
Mom has been here since Monday, she is getting antsy, think she thinks she is in the way as I've been sitting with her..she is off to hairdressers, visit with aunt Muriel, imagine she will be back around 1
Jaye is doing much better and expects to go home today.
Break time
That's good news Karen
She will recover more quickly being at home with her furries..
Betty, you know better than to do all that work by yourself. Please be careful. Did you see your Dr yesterday?
Yes, we spoke about grunge in my gallbladder, said easy decision, one that a surgeon would ask, do I want to have it out..said nope, I'd watch what I eat instead and unless it gets worse than no op
He said the burstis in my hip/leg is giving me the what for, he could give me a shot of steroids in the hip but I opted to wait for that as well..wait till I can't endure it any longer
You are doing good? Out in your garden, sewing?
Betty - I was pretty sure that Tubby was on first, and that Shirley took over. She finally got her own account, but I remember how shy she was when she first came on.
Hooray for Jaye - Dr said she did a 180 degree turn, and as Karen said, that's why she'll be going home today. Karen - thank you SO much for keeping us up to date on Jaye's health. She really needs to be cared for and I'm so glad to hear that she went to the hospital when she did.
Don't know Jaye, but, I wish her well and will add her to my prayers ..
Lorna got a spot to park, had her shot, then was off to get her new leg .. NOT !!!!!!!!!
Come back May 12 !!! Honestly, this is just too disappointing .. she is such a forward thinking and upbeat person, being handed all this crap is just not fair .. Money isn't the issue, it has all been approved .. it's just that there is only ONE experienced prosthetist to work with her, and, he is also having issues with his own prosthetic limb .. ..
Betty .. I think that moving slate is a bit more than you should have attempted .. your BURSA .. the little pillows that have burned out in your hip between bone and joint, will be unhappy ....
You may find yourself having the cortisone shot sooner ..
Going to ring up my Hospice client for a wee chitter chat .. then, hit the shower ..
Say, Betty, did your Aunt ever get married ? There was a pick of a 90+ couple in our paper this morning leaving on their Disney Cruise Honeymoon :-) Thought of your aunt right away :-)

I have been doing some gardening, but bending over is a big no no right now, so I have to wait for hubby to help me do some things. Most of my plants are in raised beds or pots, so not too much to do, but the hail storm we had the end of Feb, smashed most of my pots I had angel trumpets in, so we went out last week end, bought new pots and bags of soil. Just need to find the time and energy to re pot them.
Sorry to hear about Lorna not getting her leg, she must be so disappointed?
Another glorious day .... my idea of winter.
Worked outside and by the feel of it spent a bit too long.Diesel ended up having to be put on the 30 ft leash. He just didn't want to stay where I could see him. Chaos had a blast loping around after skeeters and leaves. My leaf blower spins the leaves up in swirls over his head He looks so happy chasing everything around. I do have a few things starting to pop up.
I had such a hard time deciding what book to start from my Amazon order that arrived yesterday. Excellent service... Amazon is really stepping up its delivery game. M I got 1 book with you in mind......I'll mail it on to you after I finish it.It is called Yes Sister, No Sister... set in the 1950's. Did you get a cape when you started training? I remember seeing my Auntie Dorie swish out of her house on her way to work. I loved the look of the cape she wore. I started Secret Sisters - a true story. Very good read. I'll finish tonight.
M did you read the book about Newfoundland that was in your Santa Warren's box? Loved the title.
Betty I knew you would understand my indecision about what to do outside.I've drawn up 3 different plans and left them on the dining room table for Warren to look at when he gets up. That's what we used to do... I would design things when I was up in the night and Warren would look over them and give his input. What a creature of habit I am.
Diesel has been running in and out of this room. Should have known he was tattling on Chaos. I looked up and there is stuffing from what(???) all over the front room and kitchen. So far I can't see where it is from though.
Need to heat up some leftovers for dinner. Enjoy your evening everyone.
Dianne and her TH
I do understand, fully Dianne..Warren will leave or show you what he thinks, they have a way of doing that..you watch and see
Been in bed since early afternoon and no not because of the lifting of rocks..
Came in, saw 2 bananas ripening so thought I'd slice them up and eat them, well a 1/2 cup 2% milk in the bowl and voila, sicker than a dog and vomiting. Grrr
Sure hope by morning I will be a-ok
Betty - I do so hope you'll be ok. Geeze - who'd have thought, bananas and milk? Your tummy must be really sensitive at the moment. Hope you are better in the morning.
Dianne - I can just imagine about you looking for Warren't opinion on stuff, and as for being a creature of habit, totally understandable.
My mom used to do the same thing - expecting dad to talk to her about stuff. Getting up 1st thing in the morning, she'd took for him to say Good Morning, and when coming home, she'd expect him to be there waiting for her (he was a doting hubby).
Betty, when I was on my last legs with my gall bladder, even water triggered an attack .. and, when the attack happens, you should ALWAYS be seen ..
I know you might think the gallbladder is a non intrusive little thing, BUT .. they can cause a lot of grief .. and, make a soul so very sick ..
The attacks take a lot out of you, I hope you feel better, but, chances are you will feel what we call "BILIOUS' .. gassy and full ..
I do think you'll have no peace of mind until you get shed of the little devil !
Dianne .. YES .. I read 'The Day the world came to Town' .. In fact, I packed it on my carryon when we went to Toronto in January .
Did you realize it is Jim DeFede's first book :-) Loved the way it was written, and was captivated by the whole lovely story ..such as it was on that fateful day.
Capes .. unfortunately NO we didn't have capes in my day, they had gotten rid of them as we trained through the University as opposed to singular hospital ... your new book is set in England ?
Betcha it's a good one :-)
Off for coffee with Jo today .. I think my pink eye is less angry looking ..
It's already 44F here .. but .. the WL last evening said it is going down over the next few days ..
Hi to Debbie and Deb, and Barb and Sharon, Susan and Laurel and Judy and Joyce and everyone ..
Have a super day :-)
~M~

Betty, I had my gallbladder out four years ago and it was a very simple day surgery. It is done without cutting and with just three tiny incisions. I had no pain at all. I stayed in the hospital for one night ONLY because of my breathing issues and have never had a problem since. I do remember the pain before it was done and have been so grateful since then... I know you have other med problems but do consider having it done if they tell you it can be done safely for you. The difference in your quality of life and the way you want to live it is amazing.
Totally agree with Barb, do shed the little bugger. It's one of those better off with it gone. I only stayed the night because surgeon was so busy, didn't get to me until 3 AM. Up first thing and walking the halls. Never a problem since.
Easier than tonsils LoL
Hope Betty is OK today ..
Kind of a disjointed day, but, coming together, as always, coffee with Jo was splendiferous .. solved all the worlds problems, so, y'all can sleep well tonight :-)

Betty it must be the bananas rebelling. I ate a banana after I read your post and up it came. I haven't been able to keep anything down since. Tried to work outside - got 2 hours in but it is very humid and that made me queasy all over again. My hair looks like bed springs after being outside.
D
Evening, nan other day in emerge..Suzanne took me to walk in clinic, took one look at me and brought me into a room, wasn't five minutes doc came in, he had checked my file on computer, checked me out and said absolutely NOT bladder..drats and here I was watching all the foods I ate. Lol
Told me I had to go to emerge, said he recommended to ER doc that I have blood/urine and cat scan
End result that doc said not gallbladder
Bad urinary infection, told me I should get kidneys checked as wee..have anppt with new doc may 2nd, will get him to make an appt.
I should have noted the few similarities I had years ago before kidney opera true..now have an ah ha moment
With absolutely no sleep, I'm exhausted..IV meds for anti nausea working so hopefully will work

Jeeze Betty... not a good day for you, hopefully you will sleep tonight ..
Hope you get appts with a urologist quickly ..
Feeling kinda bad re the death of Prince.. I wasn't a HUGE fan .. liked a few of his songs, sad to see his talent gone ...
~M~
Hey Betty - hope you're feeling better. At least now you know you don't have to "watch" what you eat, as it's not gallbladder. Hope you sleep well
I didn't realize that Prince had passed away. He wasn't that old, was he?
Boy, thought knitting was "dead", but obviously not! I went to a Knitting Knatter group this morning where you just bring your work and chat. 10 to Noon.
This afternoon (1 to 4) I went to a knitting class to learn how to do heels on socks (wasn't that great a teacher, but I did pick up on some hints/tricks).
Both of these are in the new-to-me craft shop I found out about when looking for a Quilt shop
On Tues afternoon I just found out that our local library has a Stitch group - drop in and just do whatever you have for hand crafting - embroidery, tatting, knitting, quilting - whatever you can work on as hand work. Looking forward to it.

Betty, sorry to hear you had to go to the ER, I hope you are feeling bettter soon.
Susan, those classes sound like fun.
Prince was 57.
I am leaving early in the morning for San Antonio, my son needs a babysitter for the weekend. I will pop in when I can.
Safe travels LK .. have fun, take care ..
Susan, sounds like you'll be turning out and learning lots of crafts and crafting ideas as well as honing others :-)
Barb .. how the new place coming along?
Betty, did you sleep well ?
I take it that the first time you were ill prior to going to Florida, testing was done re your gallbladder ? Symptoms of a urinary tray infection don't usually mimic a gall bladder attack .. I sure do hope you are faithful to the appointments .. sounds a puzzle.
Dianne .. let my threesome out this ... 2 of whom are as white as the driven snow after grooming .. and, all 3 ROLLED in wet grass (frosty grass)
Hope you're feeling well ..
Debbie, how be you .. and Sharon are you well?
So many on my prayer list .. always keep you there :-)
Looks to be a cool but OK day here .. only 28F right now, but, the sun is rising brightly ..
NOT going anywhere today .. enough already .. lots to keep me busy here ..
TGIF

Morning,
"m"
They basically said I had slugs in gallbladder and could be the cause..not so sure it's caused by UTI either..should be in pain and have burning when uranar in's..is a mystery.. I did sleep very well, only thing remaining is the sore ribs from vomiting so much..back to doc on May 2nd..have to mention again this rapid loss od weight in past several months, happy for it but not dieting..oh well am sure they will eventually find out what is up when I'm in emerge every week or so.
You will enjoy your time with the kids Lindakay, they are at a great age..drive safely...so wish it were I in San Antonio, love that place.
Calling for rain here, likely a mist, best kind..just since the weekend you can see plants sprouting and shrubs starting to open..not sure if I lost any of my shrubs this year, guess it's a wait and see kind of thing.
Sharon called, her dog is expecting 7 babies, the temp is dropping so likely during night or tomorrow..she is worried as she just had to have one put to sleep last week, plays a toll on her.
Guess I'd best start to put mom's quilt together..heard through the grapevine she was upset that she has been here all week and I didn't touch it..grrrr
Hope they get your medical issues figured out soon, Betty.
It seems like mine alway have pups overnights, so Sharon may have a long night ahead of her. Tomorrow we start progesterone testing on Sissy to determine when to do the breeding. Hoping it works this time. We're using a different stud dog, so keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to Sharon with the babies.
Killed my lawn mower yesterday. Will need to see if it's something I can fix over the weekend. Lawn isn't growing too much, but those weeds are springing up quickly! I got it going first try yesterday, and got a little too close to a tree stump. I accidently hit it and the mower stopped, blade still turns freely, but it just wouldn't catch when I tried to restart it. Eventually got it going, but it's vibrating alot, so I'm guessing something is bent, and then it choked on some tall weeds, and wouldn't restart at all. Hoping it's nothing serious, I just got this mower late last summer.
"slugs in the gallbladder"? Never heard of such a thing!!
My Dr, when concerned about my gallbladder, was asking about a rapid loss of weight. I don't have a gallbladder, so he was assured that this wasn't causing it. Plus, I haven't been losing weight rapidly, just a bit as I wasn't eating much due to low oxygen.
Oh Betty - send your mom over here, maybe she can get me doing my UFOs lol It's a thought!
We may have our Loom sold - Bob says I have so many things on the go, that I'll never use it - plus there's not any room to set it up. He may be right. He mentioned it to someone at Addie's craft store, and they've given our # to a customer who may be interested.......... we'll see. It would be a welcome infusion to our funds, that's for sure!
Susan I sure hope your loom is sold. I hate parting with some things but sometimes you just have to say OK. I less thing to move too.
Oh Betty your damned if you do and damned if you don't with your mom. You need to take of YOU right now.Hope the new doc will be able to get a handle on what is going on in your body.
Oh Deb I have so been there with an unruly lawn mower. Actually last year I threw a hissy fit when I couldn't get the lawn mower or weed whacker going, went into the village and bought electric. I have very little lawn and what we call lawn is weeds so don't need to mow it often. Good luck trying to fix it.
Well I must have picked up a touch of flu or ate something that was off. Both Diesel and I had some chicken leftovers and we were both retching away. Hope I feel better tomorrow.
Its drizzled rain off and on all day. Just brought the skeeters out in full force.
M I was surprised when I saw that was Chris' first book. And he wrote the book just after 9/11. It was such a good read. Yes the book about nursing training in the 50's in England. Did you have a cap or was that by the wayside when you nursed? There was a nurse on the floor when Warren was in for possible dialysis in the early 2000's wore the white dress, stockings and a cap. He said his blood pressure went up as soon as she walked into the room.
Finished the book about Secret Sisters. It was excellent. Reminded me a lot of the way my mom's family interacted. Mom, her sister and brothers thought nothing of punching or whacking my cousins and I. Often for no reason other than we ran by them too fast.
One of our legends here on DG passed yesterday. Ernie Weed .... he was my tomato guru.It was his fault or so Warren liked to claim I grew approx 80 tomato plants one year. He had some lovely heritage seeds to share. Ernie was a gardener extraordinaire. The flowers he grew were breath taking.
Having my ongoing spring battle with a robin that likes to try and build a nest on the top of my front sensor light. If it was anywhere else I would leave it but it is more a safety feature for the TH and I.
Think I am up for some soup and a piece of toast tonight. Diesel ate his dinner tonight but didn't want a biscuit or a chewie all day.
Dianne
SO sorry to hear that Ernie passed away. He was not having a very good quality of life, and he leaves behind his wife (called her his bride, and I'm sure she feel the same about him.....).
I haven't seen him posting in over a month.
Sad.......
I think what I got most from him was that we are all "worthy".
The loom is a very large one - would be hard to find a buyer for a 4' square loom that will allow a weave of 45" material........... and the Warping mill, too.
This message was edited Apr 22, 2016 9:09 PM
Oh I shall miss Ernie so much.
I didn't know Ernie .. seems he was a wonderful fella ..
Dianne, are you feeling better ? Betty, how about you?
Well .. Lorna's Dad is in the hospital . her Mom took him to ER in Richmond Hill (north of Toronto) and he was admitted within 15 minutes .. his oxygen saturation was LOW .. Lorna has spoken to him, and her Mom .. I think her Dad needs a few days in hospital .. he needs to be assessed for a few things, he HATES being in hosp., but who does like it ..
Lorna goes back to work on May 2 .. Gord goes away for 3 days next Friday .. looks like we'll be staying put.
Dianne, I wore a cap and white dress uniform all through training and into my first few years of nursing .. then the pastel uniforms edged in, then pant suits, then the caps went, but, I was one of the hold outs as patients actually Knew I was an RN because of the black band .. .. now it seems you can wear whatever ..
Best get a mosey on, the furnace is running, only 24F outside ...
Take care
